Hi! As promised, the next Hiccstrid short fanfiction. This is based off the RTTE episode 'Blindsided' and contains some of its dialogue so if you don't want some of the plot spoiled, don't read this! It begins just before the end. The idea was suggested by NaddersoftheStar. I might have stolen some lines from other films/episodes because they made me smile. HTTYD does not belong to me. It belongs to a multinational company. I am not a multinational company. I am a random person who writes too much fanfiction.
NaddersoftheStar: Thank you so much for your reviews! I would love to hear all your ideas, on Rise of Berk I think Toothless was around level 30/40 and the Meade Hall around level 20. But I'm not certain. I hope you can watch the RoB and DoB episodes, so good luck with that. I agree, the chicken is never wrong...
derekctomlinson: Thanks for the review, I'm glad you like it!
pandamaster97720 : I might mix some of your ideas with a few of NaddersoftheStar and will definitely write some up! Thanks for reviewing.
That evening, as the sun sent ripples of colour over the lazy clouds, Hiccup and Astrid sat at the end of the decking in front of the stable. Behind them, Toothless and Stormfly played in the warm light.
Hiccup looked over to the girl who's sight had so recently been restored.
"Are you sure you're feeling okay?" he worried.
Astrid smiled slightly.
"I'm fine, Hiccup. You can stop worrying about me now."
"I never stop worrying about you," he shrugged, "That's just the way it is."
"Yeah, yeah. I guess that goes for me, too."
They looked back out to sea. On impulse, Hiccup scooted closer until their arms touched. Astrid elbowed him. What was he up to?
"Hey!" he complained.
Astrid sat quietly for a moment.
"Can I ask you something?" she said suddenly.
"Sure."
The girl thought back for a moment to the forest when she had stumbled and he'd jumped forwards to try and catch her but instead landing on her. For a moment Astrid had thought that he might, just maybe, kiss her.
"Um..." Astrid looked away briefly, "Back in the forest, when we were... Well, you know..."
"Yeah?" he said looking almost embarrassed.
"Were you about to..." Astrid watched his expression.
"Oh, uh..." Hiccup laughed awkwardly, "So you felt that, huh? I felt like maybe I got away with it."
"Well, why didn't you?" she said, looking at him out the corner of her eye, her now functioning eye.
"Oh... Oh. Well, I... It wasn't perfect. And I always thought that if it ever happened, uh..., And yes, I've though about it a lot," Hiccup paused - he'd given away a BIT more than he'd meant to, "Uh, it had to be just perfect."
Astrid smiled, watching the waves lap at the cliffs around the Edge.
"Well, this seems pretty perfect to me."
"Yeah? Yeah, I guess it does."
Hiccup and Astrid leant closer until their lips met in a kiss. Other times it had been Astrid who gave him a quick kiss but this was different, more intense.
The perfect moment was shattered by guffawing.
Tuffnut stood behind them cackling with a furious Ruffnut by his side. On his other side stood Fishlegs, grinning happily and Snotlout whose face suggested that he had been slapped with a wet haddock. And yes, that HAD happened before.
"This - changes - EVERYTHING!" squealed Fishlegs.
"Ah..." Hiccup chuckled nervously, "Hi?"
Ruffnut glared at him then launched into some kind of ridiculous rant about how she was going out with Hiccup, and how dare he kiss Astrid.
Snotlout began to make a moaning noise.
"Hiccstrid is canon!" cheered Fishlegs.
Snotlout glared at the fangirling Fishlegs.
"Hey! That's my line, Fishface!" he complained.
Tuffnut was now sniggering so hard he could barely breathe.
"You had no - no idea we were there!" he wheezed.
Hiccup thought desperately for a way out then suggested, "Umm - why don't we go and patrol the sea stacks? The Twins and Snotlout, you head north. Fishlegs, why don't you go east and me and Astrid will check the south."
"Nuh uh, lovebirds," Tuff said with an evil grin, "You two need a chaperone."
"I'll join them," Fishlegs cut in before Astrid strangled the male twin.
They set off into the sky. For a while, Hiccup's group flew in silence.
"So," Fishlegs began, "Are you two going out or what?"
The two other riders glanced at one another.
"Er... We haven't figured that out yet," Astrid explained.
"Well, there's a nice sea stack up ahead. Why don't I go and check around while you two have a chat? It sounds like you've got a lot to think about," suggested Fishlegs.
Hiccup nodded.
"Ok," he said.
The Nadder and the Night Fury landed side by side on the grass. It was nearly dark now and they could barely see each other now. The inability to see one another made them unusually confessional.
"That was awkward," started Hiccup.
Astrid nodded then remembered it was too dark for him to see.
"Yeah," she replied.
"So... Do you want to talk about it?"
"Talk about what?" Astrid was pretty sure she know what he meant.
Hiccup blushed, "Well, you know. I like you, Astrid. A lot."
"Me too."
"And - I want you to be happy. But does that happiness include me?"
Astrid almost laughed.
"Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third. You are so emotionally stupid. I've always cared about you, you've just never seen it! Shall we try again?"
And for the second time that day, they leant in together and kissed.
This time it wasn't ruined by anyone interrupting. Just the sea and the sky, and hiccstrid.
