Love Struck Delusion
Chapter 80 – I Can Not Be Here Forever.
Wreak's POV, Iraq Capital.
The course was set. The only thing that mattered now was making sure nothing happened to Raptor. I could care less if I died today to this would-be assassin. My job as Commander to this Rebellion is to make sure it thrives. Keeping Raptor alive is my way to make that happen.
With Archer off finishing his part to this plan, I refocused and looked down the hall leading to where Raptor was. Over twenty men lined the hallway. Further in I knew sat Gabe and Tap. If Ruby managed to somehow get through this defense, I knew deep down those two wouldn't fail me.
Heading down the main stairs, I shouted at a group of soldiers.
"Zulu team!"
Immediately standing straight, the team leader replied.
"Commander!"
"You ready for this?" I asked him as he nodded and replied.
"Yes sir. The men are in position with the Major."
"Entrances?"
"Walls are manned, and all maintenance hatches leading underground have been wielded shut."
Looking to the front door, I watched as two men from Zulu team finished the wielding the door close. After a few more improvements they looked back and shouted.
"Good to go Commander!"
Nodding, I looked back to Zulu team's leader to order.
"Set up position one and two and be ready for the Major's signal."
"Yes sir." He replied as he and his men made their way off out of my sight.
So far everything was going smoothly. Now it was time for me to set up.
Jagger's POV, Hotel rooftop.
Putting on my sunglasses, I flicked the switch on the side and proceeded to look around with my scope. I noticed Raptor was in the same spot as before. He appeared to be laying down still. Good.
Looking towards the rest of the complex, I located Archer who appeared to be off somewhere towards the rear of the Capital. As for Wreak he was...? Looking towards the inner courtyard I found him out in the open.
"Well hello there." I muttered as I zoomed my scope in on him. He was making his way to the main gate. What's he up to? I wondered as I knew it wasn't time to take my shot. Ruby wasn't inside yet. I would have to wait a little longer.
Keeping my cross hair on Wreak who stopped close to the men he had positioned at the gate, I heard from my comm-link.
"Nearing the entrance. You got a visual?"
Looking to the road outside the gate, I got a clear sight on Ruby as she calmly approached the entrance.
"Yup. Your in my sight. I got one of the targets in sight by the way. Should I take a shot?"
"Not yet. Wait till I'm inside. Going silent."
Nodding as I kept my scope on her now, I noticed she had a brown bandana around her neck.
Ruby's POV.
Moving the bandana close to the small device that was at the base of my throat, I covered it up and approached the men manning the main gate. One of them immediately noticed me to look at his watch.
"An hour and fifteen minutes."
"Timing me?" I wondered with a smile as he nodded and replied.
"Got to keep track. You know. How was the border?"
Letting out a sigh I replied.
"Seemed like everything was in order. Another team or two and it will be good to go."
Nodding as I stared at him, I got no response.
"Can I go in?" I wondered as he looked to the left. Following his eyes, I noticed a familiar face standing not too far away. His eyes looked me over as I heard quietly in my ear from Jagger.
"That's Wreak."
"What are you doing out here Wreak?"
Approaching me he replied.
"Checking on the gate team and the perimeter. You heard about the possible attack, right Hunter?"
Shaking my head I replied.
"No? What's going on?"
"We don't know to be exact. What we do know is that it's G.U.N and they're probably after Raptor."
"Can I help at all?" I wondered as he kept silent for a moment. Something in his eyes seemed off as he looked me over closely to reply.
"I have Archer in the vehicle bay getting one of the APC's ready in case they launch a full scale assault on the main entrance. See if you can help him get it up and running."
"Got it."
Looking to the men around me, I made my way slowly passed them and into the courtyard. Going to my comm-link I asked.
"You catch all that?"
Looking to my left as I walked around, Jagger replied.
"Yeah. The vehicle bay is to the left according to the schematics."
Nodding as I began to head that way, I ordered Jagger.
"They didn't do anything. But be ready just in case. If anything happens you kill that prick at the gate. Got it?"
"Loud and clear."
"Going silent." I replied to him as I made my way through an open gate leading inside the bay.
Wreak's POV.
With my men and I watching as she made her way inside, I had a feeling something wasn't right. Hunter wouldn't have been so calm if she heard of an attack on Raptor. Even more suspicious was the way she talked to me. I consider her a friend, but she had the attitude that I was her boss only.
Going to my comm-link, I radioed in.
"She's coming."
"You sure?" Wondered Zulu team as I nodded.
"I'm sure. Let Archer confirm and be ready to take her down. Don't let her get passed you."
"Roger that."
Looking back at the gate guards I ordered.
"Handle this from here. No one leaves."
"Yes sir." They replied as I made my way back for the interior of the compound. If what Black said was true I was in serious trouble standing out here for much longer. I had to get inside.
Archer's POV, Vehicle bay.
Pretending to be working on the APC, I widened my eyes and looked to my right to see Hunter coming my way.
"Here she comes Major." I heard over my earpiece as I asked back immediately.
"You positive?"
"Yes sir." They replied as I went silent and smiled as she approached me.
"Wreak said you needed help with this?"
Nodding I replied.
"The ignition won't start. I think there is a problem with the main gas valve. I just can't see."
Nodding as I looked back inside the engine, I said to myself.
"There is no way Hunter would be working with G.U.N. It wouldn't make any sense."
Handing her my flashlight, I asked her.
"Can you shine it right there?"
Nodding she replied with a raise to her arm.
"Ya, no problem."
As she got the light inside, I began to pretend as if I was really doing something. While I was in there however I heard over my earpiece from Zulu team.
"Check her wrists. Black said she would be armed."
Nodding to myself as I got some oil on my hand, I came back out from the compartment to look back at Hunter who smiled and wondered.
"How does it look?"
Letting out a sigh I replied.
"Can't really see past here. Can you get any closer?"
Nodding she replied while getting basically right up on my side.
"Yeah. How is that?"
Looking to her wrist as her arm came over my head, I widened my eyes to see a metal cuff wrapped around her wrist. With the short glance I had I swear I saw something under it. But I had to not get caught and quickly shove myself back inside the APC.
In confusion now I wondered to myself.
"Black said she was going to disguise herself. But I never understood what he meant truly. There is no way this isn't Hunter. She looks and sounds perfect. I had to be wrong."
As I spent more time inside the engine I urged her.
"Pass me the flashlight."
Reaching in past my head, I got a much closer look at her wrist. The cuff was surely hiding something. As it basically was in my face; I widened my eyes at what looked like a hidden blade. Immediately I ignored the flashlight to grab her by the wrist and pull out from the engine. Her eyes widened as I looked her directly in the eyes to ask.
"You think I wouldn't notice?"
In confusion she replied.
"Notice what?"
I felt her arm tense up as I held her. Looking to her long sleeved shirt, I pulled it up to shout.
"This!"
Exposing the device, I sensed I was now in danger. The way her body positioned itself showed that for a fact. Locking her eyes on me I stated.
"You pulled off her look exactly, and her voice. I don't know how you did it but your lying ends here."
With her wrist still under my grip, I instantly got back with a wicked glare now.
"You better let go of me. Or else."
"Stand down now. Make this easy on yourself."
Chuckling she replied.
"It's just me and you. Standing down now isn't an option."
"Don't make me hurt you." I urged her as she questioned.
"Hurt me? That won't be an issue you'll have to worry about. Now this is your last chance."
"Let..." Our eyes remained locked as she went on.
"Me..." Reaching for my sidearm, I widened my eyes as swung her right hand at my chest.
"GO!"
Feeling her palm pin itself along my heart, I widened my eyes and released her arm as she slowly smiled.
"Ugk!" Coughing up blood through the immense silence. I let out a gag as she pulled her hand away.
"I warned you." She stated as I felt the blade in my chest slowly turning it's way in me.
With blood rolling down my lip, she gently pulled her hand away. The blade retracted back into her cuff as I kept my eyes on her in shock.
Ruby's POV.
Poor guy asked for it. Don't ever lay your hands on me.
Slowly placing his left hand along his chest, I stated.
"It will be slow and painful. But that's what a Rebel like you deserves for defying order."
Unable to speak back, I shook my head and sent my left hand at his head. To my surprise, I was caught off guard as he instantly chopped my palm away with his right arm. The force sent me back a few feet as he fell to his hands and knees to shout.
"Do it!"
Looking around, I panicked as three big floodlight came on above us. My eyes instantly shut from the brightness as I looked back to where the hedgehog once was to see him gone. Blood trailed to the other side of the APC.
"Where did you...?" I was quickly cut off from speaking to the sounds of guns.
Looking back to the floodlights, I widened my eyes to see men lined all above on the catwalk. Each aimed at me with a rifle as I shouted to Jagger.
"Do it! Open fire!"
Jagger's POV, Hotel rooftop.
"Do it! Open fire!"
Hearing the command I replied.
"Bout time."
Keeping my sights on Wreak who was making his way to the back of the Capital, I gently pulled the trigger.
"BANG!"
My body shook slightly as the large round made it's way for his chest.
Wreak's POV.
Pacing my way towards the backside of the complex with one of my guards at my side, I stopped to hear something. Looking back towards the gate, I widened my eyes as my guard got in front of me.
"What is it Command...!?"
It was an instant. I felt pain and blood hit my face as my guard's body and myself were sent a good ten feet back from where we were standing.
Jagger's POV.
"Did I get him!?" I asked myself as I went back in my scope to see two bodies laying on the ground.
Loading my next round into the chamber, I panicked as someone came from behind the corner of the rear of the Capital to grab Wreak by the arm. Instantly I fired.
"BANG!"
Wreak's POV.
Feeling someone take me by the wrist, I opened my eyes to see Leo pulling me out of harms way behind the Capital. Just as he got us around the corner, another large round hit the very corner. The concrete shattered off the edge as I was soon dropped and approached by my side.
Leo's POV.
"Wreak?! Can you hear me!?" I asked him as I knew that was Jagger. No other sniper would be here to take that shot.
Looking to his side, I widened my eyes to see Wreak had been hit. His vest took a lot of it, but the bullet nailed him. Blood oozed out from under his clothes as I soon heard him order.
"Go get...Marx! Now!"
Nodding, I got up to run. There is no way Marx and everyone else didn't hear what was going on.
Jagger's POV.
"Fuck!" I shouted as that prick got him out from my sight.
Loading my next round, I looked to where Ruby was. Through the gate that was opened I saw men lined up on the catwalk.
"Fucking rebels." I muttered as I took aim at one and fired.
"BANG!"
Ruby's POV.
With two shots heard in the distance, I looked to one of the men in front of me to hear a third firing off. The second my ears heard it, I widened my eyes to see the man get hit in the chest. His body flew off the catwalk and down onto a nearby Humvee as the other men around instantly panicked and ordered.
"Open fire!"
Using all my speed, I ran behind the APC to take cover. Bullets sounded all around me as I looked for a nearby exit. My only choice was the way I came. With all my speed I ran.
Tap's POV.
Gunshots began to go off. Gabe and myself instantly looked at each other to take a hold over our weapons and focused on the door.
Raptor kept himself sleeping as it was clear they were here.
Ruby's POV.
Dodging my way back outside of the ambush, I ran for the front door of the Capital to find it sealed shut.
"What the fuck!?" I asked myself as it was clear only some of the people around here knew I was the assassin. They ran all around the courtyard as Jagger ordered me over comm.
"Get in there!"
Finding a nearby first floor window I replied.
"They sealed it! Hit the window for me!"
Going silent, I soon heard a round go off. The window was instantly shattered and with haste I jumped through to find two soldiers making their way into the room.
Using all my speed, I sent my wrist into the first man's neck. His eyes opened wide as I grabbed his sidearm with my right hand to aim at the man behind him.
"BANG! BANG! BANG!"
Shooting him in the chest, I tossed the man I held aside to run out into the main hall.
"Kill her quick!" I heard someone order as I looked to the main stairs to see men lined up taking aim.
Running into a nearby hall, I looked back to see them in chase.
"This shit got real fucked real fast." I stated to myself as I had to come up with an idea on how to get up on the second floor without killing everyone. As soon as I thought about it however Jagger stated over his comm.
"There is a set of stairs further down the hall. Go there."
"Did you kill Wreak!?" I asked him as I made my way there.
"I don't know. He's down but I couldn't get a clear conformation."
Finding the stairs not too far away, I quickly made my way up to open the door leading onto the second floor. As I came through however, I panicked as another soldier rounded the corner with his rifle up.
"Sto...!" Sending my wrist into his chest, I placed the gun I held on his head to pull the trigger.
"BANG!"
Blood splashed my face as I pushed his corpse into the nearby wall.
"You got a lot of targets ahead. I can see some through the main window. They have to be guarding Voltz."
"Handle them!" I ordered him as I neared the objective to see the men he was talking about waiting for me with guns up and triggers at the ready.
The second I came into their sights, I was opened up on and forced to enter a nearby office for cover.
"Take the shot!" I ordered Jagger as I got back silence.
In confusion I shouted.
"Jagger! Where are you you asshole!?"
Jagger's POV.
"Let go of the rifle."
My eyes slowly looked down as I felt a gun on the back of my head. I can't believe I didn't hear him coming. Fucking Ruby and her yelling.
"Slowly." He ordered me as I released my rifle.
"Stay still." He ordered me again as I felt him take my sidearm from my hip.
Aiming that at me too, I asked.
"How did you find me Black?"
"Stand up." He ordered me as I slowly got on my feet.
"Turn." He then said as I turned around to see him standing there calmly.
"It's wasn't hard once I knew it was you and Ruby calling the shots. You forget I worked with you. I know what you do."
"Too well if I say so." I stated as he ordered.
"Shut up and step away from the edge."
Nodding slowly, I made my way towards the door leading to the stairs. Black followed as he glanced behind me to see Hunter resting there, still out cold.
"So that's who she went with huh?"
Looking back at her I replied.
"Girl has some balls. She hit Ruby you know?"
"Shut up." He ordered me again as I let out a sigh to wonder.
"What's the plan now boss? Kill me?"
Shaking his head he replied.
"Your coming with me."
"Alive huh? Not your style. Plus, do you really think you can take me down?"
Nodding he replied.
"Guess we'll find out."
"I've always wanted to kill you. You cocky fuck. I already shot Wreak. I was hoping you would be down there too."
My words moved his ears. I could tell he was worried now. Even if it was only a little.
"Just make this easy on yourself Jagger."
Shaking my head I replied.
"Nah. Not my style. You should know that. You worked with me. Remember?"
Giving him a smile, I looked to my comm as I heard Ruby shout.
"Jagger! Where are you you asshole!?"
Chuckling I replied to myself.
"Killing me a traitor."
Black widened his eyes as I sent my leg around at his hands that held the guns. Caught off guard, they both flew out of his hands and towards the edge of the roof. With a smile I urged him.
"Bring it on now. Just try and take me alive. I'll send you and that intention off this fucking roof. But not after I kill you."
Black carefully got ready for a fight, and with locked eyes he swung at me.
