This is my own English translated version of Xiao Zhan's "Song of My Heart" from The Untamed inspired-album.

Listen to the entire song as you read this as you sing along. Even more I knew what the words meant, it was one of my favorites to listen to. While it had the cheerful tune of Wei Wuxian's exuberant voice, you start to understand that beneath its layers contains a hidden sorrow that matches his character very well. About all he had suffered in his past time, but also how much happiness in life he still managed to find from it.

If you already read Lan Wangji's "Song of Remembrance," then you know that making an english version of the song required eliminating a lot of beautiful and meaningful vocabulary from the Chinese version, re-arranging some of the words and adding verbal changes in order for it to fit with the song's rhythm. Again, this song is technically not accurate to the real song, nor does it do much justice, but I hope that it contains the same meaning to the original version.

This one was also harder to put together than Lan Wangji's was with its quicker, jumpier pace in the Chorus lines.

*Imagine Wei Wuxian 'chillaxing' on the rooftop of Cloud Recess with a jar of Emperor's Smile and playing Chenqing, watching the magnolia trees, all while thinking about all that has happened before leading to this new chapter with Lan Wangji since being resurrected ~ WWX x LW

I do not own any of this. This song belongs to Xiao Zhan.

Wei Wuxian's "Song from the Heart"

(Verse 1)

I took a short nap in a

boat upon the lakeshore

Under starry night

I plucked up a willow leaf and blew~

Spreading out a golden kite to

see the mortal world

Paper lantern's light

Floating from the old life to the new~

From my balcony

drinking with flowers around the street

Once I've washed my bloodied sword at Xuanyu Cave

Brushing off cruel words

Having little more to lose~

"Why should I fear them

and face the flames unscathed~

~(Chorus)~

Once I smiled and drank and dueled

with a man in Gusu Lan

It was not life or death

but I became a tale folks talk about~

As magnolias bloom

was my old life a dream or reality?~

Having left this world

with a past full of rumors and cause to doubt~

~.~

(Chenqing plays charismatically)

~.~

~(Verse 2)~

Died at Never-night

Though the young man told no lies?

For justice I took up the flute and gave-up the sword

Rumors lead my plight

Why should my loyalty still hold ties?

A thousand faces can still hold a thousand words~

~(Chorus)~

Once I was stunned by someone

As my fingers tease their swirling clouds

Caused their qin to shake

Why does this moment haunt me in my dreams?

As tree petals fall

Is this moment a dream or reality?

Trav'ling around the world

Together, and the rumors will start to cease

~(Bridge)~

Why must I be so loyal and tame?

Play the flute beneath the stars

Rather than leave behind an honorable name

I'd have a fine cup of wine with all my scars

~(Chorus)~

Once I've embraced the world as

the sole admirer of the branch of spring

It was not life or death

So why become a tale folks spread so fast?~

Standing out my door

Is our reunion a dream or reality?

Returning to this world

To a new life moving from the past~
