They jolted me awake when something cold and wet splashed against my face and the top half of my body was soaking wet. I was shaking like crazy. As I spat out the little water, I almost choked on. I instinctively tried to move, only to realize they tied me to a chair. I looked around through my somewhat blurred vision and saw tall figures coming towards me. At least four. They started talking in a language I did not understand. Maybe Russian, but I couldn't tell for sure. The dark figures began shouting at me, demanding something, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what the hell they were saying.
"Looks just like her mother, doesn't she?" One of tall dark shadows spoke in their language and then I heard the others speaking too, almost sounding like they were agreeing with whatever the first one said. .
"Who are you!?" I got out through my whimpers. The room I was in was dark with one light above me that was constantly flickering, adding to my already tough time trying to see my captors. None of them answered me as they continued to discuss things with each other in their language. "Please! Just let me go!" I tried again, louder. "HELP!" I screamed, hoping maybe someone outside might hear me.
"SHUT UP!" One of the tall men yelled, coming towards me, holding a knife at my throat. Apparently they could speak English. "You can scream all you want, no one's going to hear you. We're hundreds of feet underground." He informed me. I gasped at the thought. Wishing more than ever I just stayed home, or stayed inside at the party, at-least hundreds of people surrounded me.
"What do you want from me!?" I cried, I had never felt so scared in my life more than I did now.
"Where is it?" Another man demanded, coming forward from the shadows.
"W-where's what?" I asked, my voice filled with confusion, mixed in with all the tears coming down my face. I didn't have the slightest clue on why they wanted me, or what they were looking for, and I had a feeling if I couldn't provide the answer they were seeking, they will most likely kill me.
"Where's the Tesseract?"
"The Tesseract?" I repeated, still just as confused. The man that first spoke to me, came towards me and slapped me across the face. I groaned in pain as the left side of my cheek felt like it was on fire now. "I don't know what your talking about!" I told them, but they didn't look convinced.
"Lies! Howard Stark had the Tesseract in his possession. What did he do with it!? Your a Stark!" Howard Stark? That was my dad's father, my grandfather. I never knew my grandparents, they died before I was even born. My dad didn't speak much about his parent to me or his childhood.
"I know nothing! Please, I'm telling the truth. I have never heard of the Tesseract! Just let me go!" I begged. They hit me with another splash of freezing cold water, choking and coughing on it once more. I was still coughing when one other came towards me and tasered me, sending a wave of pain through my body, causing me to scream for a short time before it was over.
"Your not going anywhere! Not until you tell us what we want to know!" The first one that spoke to me in the beginning said. His voice was so deep, which worked in his case because his threats only sounded that much more terrifying than the others.
"I already told you, I don't know!" I realized now why my dad was so quick to tell me to take my bodyguards with me whenever I left the house. He was always worried something like this was going to happen. They repeated dumping water and tasering me again. They really thought I must know where this Tesseract thing is. I didn't even know what this object looked like. I never heard my father speak of it, or come across it in his office or lab, not that I ever rummaged through my dad's paper work. If I ever even attempted that, I'm sure J.A.R.V.I.S. would have ratted me out the minute it happened.
One guy went behind me and began untying my binding. Once they were loose, I felt myself being tossed to the ground. I grunted as I threw my hands in front of me to break my fall. My heart was racing as I quickly got to my feet and tried to make a run for it, knowing full well my chances of getting out of this place were sly. For one, I didn't even have a clue where I was or which way to go. It didn't matter, anyway; someone yanked me back by my hair, causing me to scream.
The men were now once again speaking in their language again. Maybe it was German? This is where J.A.R.V.I.S. would come in handy for me, and I wouldn't be wondering what these men were planning to do with me. How did they know my family?
"Take her to the lab." A different man ordered. It was one I had yet to hear speak English, which is why I didn't recognize his voice at first. His accent was much harsher than the others. I felt the one that held me captive tighten his grip around my wrist and I struggled to get loose, but it was no use. I was not going anywhere.
I saw out of the corner of my eye one of the other men coming towards me holding something small and pointy. "Hold her arm out." The man holding the syringe ordered. The one that held me captive did as the other one said and instinctively I tried my damndest to get my arm away from the other man with the object but I got overpowered, not by one but two men and I gasped when it entered my arm. I expected to go to some dark place, but it was the complete opposite. I was very much awake, it was my legs and my arms I no longer had control over which told me it was some other sedative.
My legs gave out within minutes after the needle entered my skin and I felt arms lift me off the ground and they placed me on a gurney and strapped me down. The gurney started moving and my heart was racing now more than ever, wondering where and what they planned on doing with me. Were they going to kill me? Threaten to chop me up into tiny pieces if my dad failed to deliver this Tesseract to them?
All I could see were the passing of flickering lights above me as the gurney continued to roll. "Where are you taking me?" I asked, panic clear in my voice. The four men ignored me as we continued down this long sketchy hall. "Why won't any of you answer me? Please, I don't know where the Tesseract is. I don't even know what it is! Just let me go! Please!"
The gurney came to a screeching stop, and one man came close to me. He looked at me like he was going to slit my throat right then and now. "You are not going anywhere! Now shut up or I will stick this lovely sharp beauty in your little pretty face!" The one with the harsh voice threatened, pulling out a small dagger for me to see. I whimpered as it came closer to my face, I could feel the tip caressing my cheek and he snickered and pulled it away. We continued on the way wherever that was. I felt the wheels turn to the right, then the left and then again to the right and we started slowing down. A bigger pit grew inside me as I heard doors being pushed opened and we entered the lab.
We came to a stop, and I turned my head to the left to see a man wearing a lab coat approaching the men that held me captive. "Do you have it?" The one who threatened me with a knife asked.
The scientist nodded and looked down at his side and pulled something out of his pocket and placed the object in the other man's hand. I couldn't see what it was at first until he held it up. It was a syringe. Filled with what? I couldn't even guess what it could be.
"Is everything else ready to go?" He questioned the lab person next.
"Yes, sir."
"Good. Get her prepped. We don't have time to waste."
"Sir, are you sure she's the right one you want for this task? There are plenty of other more experienced candidates that would do the job."
"She's a Stark. The billionaire would never suspect his own daughter snooping around his office for information on the Tesseract."
"I will never help you!" I shouted at them, struggling at the same time to get out of these restraints when one of them crouched down to eye level.
"What make's you think you have a choice, missy? Once we inject you with this serum. You will have no choice but to do whatever it is we tell you to do." He broke out chuckling, watching my expression once again go from trying to look tougher than I was, to fearful all over again and he stood back up and nodded to the others and the gurney went forward with me struggling when suddenly one of the other guys reached over and I felt a shock wave go through my body, temporarily paralyzing any movement and my ability to think.
We stopped, and I felt the restraints being removed, but I was still too weak to move and before I knew it, I was being lifted off the stretcher. He placed me in this strange metal container and started hooking me up to monitors and strapping my arms and legs down. "Please. Don't do this." I whimpered. One of my other captors was doing up my last arm restraint when I got my arm free and gave a good swing and punched the guy on the side of the cheek. He stumbled back, grunting.
"Ah! You stupid bitch!" The man growled, his hand flying to his cheek. He looked down at the ground and then back at me and came stomping towards me and slapped me across the face. My face instantly felt on fire and the man grabbed my loose arm and strapped it down.
"Having troubles?" Another one asked.
"Not at all." The one I punched brushed off.
"Good. Hand me the serum." The other guy gave the leader of this cult the syringe and came towards me. He ignored my continuous cry's, begging him not to and placed his filthy hand on my head and turned it to the side and I felt the needle entire my neck, releasing the serum into my system. He pulled the sharp object out of my neck and nodded to the others to get on with the next stage.
The light above where I was laying was all of sudden blocked with this body size cover. They hooked it up to giant tubes that got hooked up to other machines and it was coming towards me. There was a tiny glass square window that I could barely see out of. My heart was racing faster and faster as panic set in. I couldn't hear anything other than my own heavy breathing.
Then the sounds of the machines starting up. I could hear them through the tubes and this bright, blinding light shined in my face, forcing me to squeeze my eyes shut the entire time as massive amounts of pain went shooting through my body, causing me to scream through it all. It lasted only a couple minutes, but it felt like I had been in pain for hours, when outside of my tomb sparked, causing all the machines running to overload and lose power and eventually shut down.
At first all I could hear was ringing in my ears and my vision was hazy, like I was trying to see through a cloud of smoke. As the minutes passed by, I was hearing more than just ringing. I could hear faint voices as the body cover was being lifted off me.
"Is she alive?" One of them asked. Looking for a sign that I was breathing. I had yet to open my eyes. It was painful and I could feel something warm running down from nose. I turned my head slightly, trying to remember how to control my basic motor functions.
"Get her up!" A different one ordered. He must have seen there was life still in me as they undid the bindings that held me down. I still had a hard time opening my eyes, but I could at least blink them now as I felt myself being pulled off the machine and my feet hit the ground, staggering a bit. I seriously felt like I had just woken up from a six-month coma. Not that I had a clue what a six-month coma felt like.
I held onto the table with one hand for support while the other was trembling in front of my face. I slowly opened my eyes. It was almost pitch black in the room, I could barely see my captors' faces. The room only lit up from the occasional sparks from the fried wires of the machines.
"Well, did it work?" One of them demanded.
"We are about to find out." The leader said and his men chuckled as he looked me in the eyes. "Kill him." He ordered, looking at the one that chosen to get sacrificed to see if the serum worked. I looked at the one he ordered me to kill and then I looked back at the leader, not moving. "I said kill him!"
"It didn't work! Why didn't it work!?"
"Just give her a second! You! Girl! I order you to kill him, now!" He shouted at me again. When I still wouldn't even take a step towards the guy about to be the guinea pig. The leader came at me, grabbing me by the shoulders and shaking me.
I did not understand what happened, but the leader suddenly went flying back towards the others, grunting as he hit the ground. The others questioned what that could have been. I was trembling and shrieking like crazy when bigger sparks from fried wiring of lights and machines spewed everywhere more frequently and I backed away from them slowly.
"Doctor! Why didn't it work!" The leader shouted, calling over the lab coat.
"Sir. I'm not sure. We have run multiple test on other subjects and they have all come back successful." The doctor babbled on.
"So then why isn't it working on her!" He yelled, pointing at me.
"It... might be possible that her blood type isn't the same as the other successful candidates."
"We have been planning this for months. Your telling me you didn't think to check if it would react differently because of her blood!?" The leader was angry. He pulled out his gun and aimed it at the lab coat. The man started begging for his life, pleading that he would get it right and there was a loud bang. I failed to muffle my scream as I watched the man hit the ground and the leader looked at me.
"You know we can't let her live now, right? The experiment didn't work on her. She's seen us. She knows too much." The man second in charge insisted, looking at his boss. The leader nodded, knowing it was true. There was no greater asset they could have had, then Stark's own blood, and the experiment didn't work at all. It turned me into a freak, and he could tell on my face, I did not understand it was me that had sent him flying. And the leader would not let me live another minute to find out.
"Bring the girl here. I'll take care of this and then we need to get out of here." He told them, checking his gun to see if he still had a round left. I didn't get far before two of them grabbed me. Both had a hold of an arm, dragging me towards the gun holder. I gasped as I felt the gun touching my forehead and I closed my eyes, thinking this was the end when suddenly one man grunted, stopping everything. The gun holder removed the weapon from my face and we saw a blade sticking out of the guy's chest and he fell over dead. "What the hell..." One of them muttered in confusion. They scanned every immediate area, wondering if they weren't the only ones down here. The leader looked at me for a second and then at one of his guys to go check it out. I was now being held by one guy, instead of 2, and we waited until we heard him scream.
"Alec? What the hell is going on?" The leader yelled.
"Who cares. Just shoot the girl and lets get out of here!" The one holding me demanded.
He aimed the gun at me. His finger on the trigger, and just as he pulled the trigger, his hand moved uncontrollably, and the bullet went between the eyes of the one holding me and we both fell to the ground. While I struggled to get out from under the wait of the guy. The gun and the one that weld it went flying across the room. I crawled out from underneath the dead weight, looking around frantically, wondering who else was here.
However, I thought it best not to stick around, in case I was next. I took off through the doors down the hall. Constantly looking behind me to see if I was being followed. After going around the fifth corner, I slowed down. Something wasn't right. I came to a stop and felt something warm running down my lips. I moved my trembling fingers to the source and pulled it back to see blood on the tips of two of my fingers. I staggered a little further, only to collapse to the floor on my back. Seeing only a tall figure standing over me, coming towards me.
