Chapter 4: The First Training Session, Part 1

"All right, as you know, we like to make sure all of our students are up to the challenge" Razoban mentioned. "You all managed to get in here, but that was the easy part. Now the real fight begins. Your hero costumes are still underway, but it should be built exactly to your specifications".

All of the Class was there. There was a bit of tension between them at the moment, however.

"And so, as you know...you will be teaming up into pairs, and fighting against each other" Razoban mentioned. "This will be important even for Rescue based heroes, because villains can appear anywhere. This is even more prominent, with the creation of several martian and lunar cities, as well as the cities and refuges formed out in the Asteroid belt, along with Corporate mining ventures. Because of this, Heroes need the ability to operate out in space as well, and fend off any threats to the people. Which is why Haven Academy even has its own personal spacecraft, and many pro heroes that operate out in space or across several planets, have our own".

As that was said, Tsukasa remembered the horrors that were unleashed. Somehow, Razoban had secretly converted his ship into a warship, and had four others do the same. Once he eliminated the opposition in space, he rained fire down upon the cities of Earth, and other planets as well. It was something out of a nightmare.

There were orbital defenses, or people with quirks, meant to deal with that, but Razoban had people on the surface as well as in the sky. All of them were enhanced by Quirk boosting drugs and were highly coordinated. Even then though, it took Razoban thirty years to go around taking everyone out, before he finally managed to track down Tsukasa. But thankfully, Tsukasa enacted his plan before Razoban could reach him.

He came back to his senses after Razoban finished his usual teacher facade. There was a box, and they were all supposed to take out a card, which would be covered and have a letter on it. Tsukasa reached in, grabbing one, and then Sei did the same. Rula also did that, and the other students followed.

And so, the teams had been decided. As for the trio...

Sei and Tsukasa were a team, and they would be against Aoi Akabane and Kaeru Utsushi.

Rula Amari and Cyrus Heinhart would be against Shinobu Chohi and Bassui Inoue.

"Nice" Sei mentioned.

"We got this" Tsukasa added, high fiving him.

"I will be in your care" Aoi mentioned, a bit timidly.

"Ah...yeah, happy to work with you" Kaeru mentioned a bit happily.

"I guess we are up" Rula mentioned, pounding her fist into her palm.

"So long as we handle things calmly and come up with a plan, we should be fine Amari-san".

"...you can use my first name. ANd please, drop the -san" she mentioned.

"Ah...I hope we will be fine" Shinobu mentioned.

"Yeah...right..." Bassui mentioned, a bit skittish.

The time limit was ten minutes. They has to secure a bomb inside of a small model of a spaceship. Since this was considered an emergency, and since their hero suits had yet to arrive, they would do it in their gym uniforms.

Sei and Tsukasa were decided to be the attacking team, while Aoi and Kaeru would be on the defending team.

"Hey, you okay? You seem distracted" Kaeru mentioned, not used to being the more focused one.

"Ah, yeah...sorry. Was just thinking about something" Aoi mentioned. "We just...we cant lose!"

"Ah. Got it" Kaeru said, feeling as if something was off.

"You think this will play out the same way it did the first time?" Sei whispered.

"Well, Kaeru wont take us seriously, and Aoi gets a bit nervous at our teamwork, so...we should be fine" Tsukasa muttered silently.

However, in an instant, the timer started, so the two ran in. No immediate conflict, but Tsukasa remembered where the bomb was last time, as did Sei. So they immediately began checking places in that direction. The layout was also familiar, so it was easy for them. That said, Sei's memory wasn't as good as Tsukasa's, since he only got fragments due to recieving another person's memories.

However, the moment they turned the corner, a masisve windblast him them both, knocking them against the wall.

"I wont let you pass so easily!" Aoi shouted, a determined look in his eyes.

Was he always that determined? Tsukasa mentioned, as he dodged consecutive sonic blasts from Aoi. Even though the boy was small, his sonic wind blasts were powerful and could really knock it out of them. However, the moment he tried, Kaeru appeared and tapped him, causing him to switch places with Aoi right as Sei was about to land a hit on him, causing Sei to hit Tsukasa instead. Sei was able to stop some force, but it still made contact.

Aoi meanwhile moved around, using sonic blasts from his feet to adjust himself and rain down more sonic blasts from above.

Meanwhile, Kaeru managed to land a hit on Sei, but Sei tried to counter. However, he was suddenly teleported and switched places with Kaeru, who quickly then attacked him from behind. It was a combination of attacks and teleports to keep Sei off his game, while Aoi relentlessly blasted at Tsukasa.

This definently did not happen in the first iteration...I dont think we changed anything this meaningful... Tsukasa thought to himself, reflecting on the mental timemap he made. However, nothing seemed to work or fit right.

There was no reason for Aoi to be this aggressive, or pushing himself this far, to stop him.

"You cant win a fight by running and hiding, Tsu-kun!" Aoi shouted, the emotion stirring in his voice.

Think...Aoi's sonic blasts are a part of his quirk. He wears headphones all the time to block out sound...wait, could it be?

Tsukasa briefly thought, for a moment, of a possible reason for all of this to be happening.

Aoi overheard their conversation. Aoi's ears a sharp enough to not just hear through soundproofing, But even is capable of detecting truth from lies. He was a big reason they had to be careful...or at least, thought were being careful. After Razoban got his Quirk, he could easily be aware of any deception they attempted. He had seen Razoban use it...but never had the time to see Aoi use it.

He knows...Aoi overheard our conversation. He knows about Razoban...this is a challenge from him to me. If I want to save the future, I have to fight him head on and win... Tsukasa realized, thinking to himself. Aoi was generally not too exertive normally, but he held a great deal of passion in his small body.

Maybe it might not be a normal thoughtpath, but normal people didn't become heroes.

"XL Burst!"

Suddenly, Tsukasa's speed increased dramatically. Very well then Aoi. Game on!

In addition...

"Chrono Gaze".

He continuously looked a few seconds into the future while simultainously keeping track of the present. Aoi launched a powerful sonic blast, which he dodged, however...

"Gah?!"

A second, less visible one hit him still. It was also less powerful though.

He is good...

Aoi was one of the first killed in hte original timeline. This had been the same matchup as before, since neither Sei nor Tsukasa changed how they reached in and picked the card. But Aoi was more determined then ever, and it seemed to have rubbed off on Kaeru. She wasn't trying as hard as Tsukasa had seen her in the future, after a few things occured, including Aoi's death. It seemed that maybe, something in Aoi had inspired her a little bit though.

Her battle with Sei had gotten quite a few kicks in, with her repeated use of her Quirk to throw off his attacks and let her surprise him. That said, Sei was already adapting.

"Gravity Pulse!"

With a thrust from his fist, he created an explosive force of gravity that knocked Kaeru back before she could touch him again.

However, she had hits from before, and it was not warn off yet. So she activated her Quirk again, except it didn't work, and she got slammed into a wall by a massive gravitational shift focused on her location. As that happened, the upper part of the gym uniform jacket, where all her hits had landed, fell onto the wall next to her.

"That should keep you locked in" Sei mentioned, setting the gravity zone to remain in place for awhile without him holding it.

Meanwhile, the battle between Tsukasa and Aoi was still going on. Tsukasa was still managing to get closer, having accelerated himself. He finally managed to close the distance between the two.

"Sonic Blast!"

"Undo!"

"Sonic Kick!"

Aoi had prepared two attacks, catching Tsukasa off guard with the second one that hit into his stomach. He used Undo to reverse the damage done to him, but Aoi launched several more attacks.

He is straining himself...I guess what he overheard was serious though...

Don't think you can do this alone. I wont let what I heard come to pass, but we both will need to be the best trained we can be for when the faceoff occurs.

As the two oppoentns each had thier thoughts, Aoi displayed some self taught hand to hand combat, unleashing sonic booms even when they miss to disorient Tsukasa. However...Tsukasa had thirty years more of experience fighting.

As Aoi let loose an attack, Tsukasa used his own technique to rewind his position and momentum, throwing off Aoi without anyone actually quite understanding what just happened. With that, he was finally able to land a hit on Aoi, grabbing his arm and twisting it around the back, tying the restraint string around it. Meanwhile, Sei located and captured the weapon.

"The team of Midoriya and Tsubaru has won!"

And so the class cheered at such a spectacular battle.

"That was madness" Rula muttered to herself. She had realized right away Tsukasa was holding back his more advanced techniques, not wanting to give away anything to Razoban. Aoi probably realized he was holding back as well. However, no one seemed to feel like there was anything odd about what just happened.

However, looking at the screen, someone spoke up next to her, interested. "He seems happier now".

She turned to see their classmate, and Aoi's Roommate, Bassui Inoue.

"What do you mean?"

"Ah, he has been looking nervous and a bit down...maybe it was the stress or the pressure? Anyways, he looks happier now".

"Ah, thats good to know".

Pretty sure there was something else going on there...but it looks like no one noticed...including...

SHe looked over at Razoban, who had an interested and entertained face, but also appeared to be preparing to say something to them. However, there was no change at all from the first timeline it seemed, which meant the battle was still within his expectations. She was reading his mind just to be sure, but it was just the simple basic stuff, as well as making notes about each of their Quirks. She had no idea what he thought in the first timeline since she never read his mind at this point, but confirmed that he was taking note of their Quirks. She didn't delve too far though, she didn't want to risk setting off any alarms or getting caught.

"It looks like our match is up next Amari-san" Cyrus mentioned.

"I told you to just my first name. And drop the -san".

"Ah...right, sorry...Rula-kun?"

"Better".

"I suppose we should get ready too, Shinobu-han".

"Erm...right!"

As they said that, the four walked back, and Razoban looked to the rest of the class.

"Before that though, as a measure, who do you think did the best in this match, and who did the worst?" Razoban asked.

"Well, I suppose Midoriya-kun did the best, since he both restrained his opponent, and captured the bomb" Kawaii Hito mentioned.

"As for the worst...honestly, they all did well".

"It was me" Tsukasa admitted. "When the battle first started, I made a terrible mistake that gave away our advantage".

As they all remembered the battle between him and Aoi, that left them shocked.

"Indeed. Midoriya-kun and Tsubaru-kun have know neach other for a long time, and are capable of great teamwork I am sure. However, they let themselves be split up by Akabane-kun and Utsushi-kun, who would not be as used to teamwork".

"...certainly, that would be a rather glaring error" Cyrus mentioned, making note of the point.

"As for the one who did the best...that would not be Midoriya-kun, but Akabane-kun. Akabane-kun was clearly overstressing his body, giving it his all to defend as if his life depended on it. As a villain, even though we try to capture them alive, many consider life in prison to be an end of their lives, and will fight like such. Furthermore, since the heroes have a time limit, Akabane-kun is correct in going all out in a short term battle, rather then playing the long game. That said...Tsubaru-kun only barely did the worst. Utsushi-kun, had you fought seriously and given it your all, you could have easily have beaten Midoriya-kun, unless he was still holding something back. But still, you should have been more serious".

"Yes sir" Kaeru muttered.

"That said, you did very well engaging Midoriya-kun in close quarters, so you got a better performance then Tsubaru-kun. That said, I am only using words like worst and best. In all honestly, you all performed very well. That said...Akabane-kun, Utsushi-kun, Midoriya-kun, Tsubaru-kun. I want you each to mention one fault the opponent you faced made, that I did not already say, from your own perspectives".

"Tsubaru-kun thought his accelerated speed would be faster then my sonic attacks".

"Midoriya-kun should have taken his jacket off sooner".

"Aoi-kun should have never let me get within close range".

"Utsushi-san should have touched my actual body, or other parts of my clothing at least".

"All of those are correct. And with that said, the next group should go get ready and prepare themselves" Razoban mentioned.

And so, the first match had ended and the second was about to begin.
