Jaune buried his head in his hands when his semblance revealed itself, powering other people's aura was great and all.
But what in the actual hell was with the strings everywhere?
He saw them everywhere!
Every shade of the rainbow and almost enough to give him a headache!
Weiss had a red string attached to Neptune (who had red strings to other girls that were very thin in comparison and yellow to his friends), Nora and Ren's red string was thicker and surely heavy, Blake and Sun's red string seemed pretty strong but constantly tangled with the yellow strings between them. Some random people had thinner strands, some had frayed strings that were a nanometer from tearing, and others were 'incomplete; but always a hair from at the other half. They always seemed to be wrapped around people hand like a ring that fit snugly. And Jaune what worried him was no one else could see them. He pointed it out to Weiss who looked at her hand in alarm, then at him in annoyance before scoffing and muttering something about 'hallucinating dunces'.
Then he saw Pyrrha's and couldn't understand why her red string was always seemed to point to him even though it was incomplete.
Then he heard about 'The red string of fate' and his entire world went upside-down as he realized what the strings represented.
That meant he saw relationships? Feelings? The way people felt? That meant Pyrrha...?
Oh hell.
Ren was alarmed when Jaune pulled him to a secluded corner and explained what he was seeing.
Shaking with dread, he asked Jaune what he saw between himself and Nora.
Jaune tried to answer before simply settling on, "The strongest red I have ever seen."
Ren nearly buckled to the floor under the real confirmation that Nora felt the same way. He had wondered and tried to rationalize why they never tried.
It was because he was scared she never felt the same.
But set aside the bubbly joy that made him want to laugh at the sky and realized that he need to try to support his leader and try to help him figure this out.
"I can't stop seeing them either!" Jaune moaned, "It's bad, but I looked at every color I could find on the scrolls and now I can't seem to stop it! I mean I saw Pyrrha's and I don't —"
He cut himself off violently and tried to regulate his breathing.
"Jaune." Ren said slowly, "What did you see?"
Jaune looked at him with such a mix of joy and amazement that Ren knew exactly what had been so obvious to everyone but him until now.
"She loves me."
