Love Struck Delusion

Chapter 98 – Is that all?

Raptor's POV.

Zeta paced her way over to her bags to grab onto a nearby sling attached to one of them. My eyes widened as she then looked back to toss it at me.

"There you go. One nice killing tool."

With the gun resting in my hands, I examined the rifle closely.

A very sweet custom M4. It had to be hers. The whole gun was plated red and black. Equipped with a silencer, laser dot sight, custom grip and receiver, and an ACOG sight. This thing was beautiful.

"It's one of my favorites so try not to lose it. Okay?"

Nodding as I placed it down on the table, I then stated.

"You're quite equipped."

"Gotta be. Never know." She replied as she made her way back to the table to wonder.

"What's in the bag you got there?"

Chuckling I then replied.

"A little extra protection. Why you asking?"

"Cause I like my gear. Plus you seem like the kind of guy to not do this kind of thing without some extra tricks of your own."

"You're not dumb." I stated back as she let out a laugh to quickly reply.

"Guess that makes me smart then. So what? You gonna show me?"

Reaching down for the bag I replied.

"May I?"

Now with silence she nodded to my question and watched as I brought the bag up to the table to unzip it. Reaching in for the armor, all I could do was watch as her eyes widened like a kid seeing a new toy.

"What is that?" She asked as she went to reach for it.

Taking the bag away her eyes now looked right to me as I undid my cloak.

"Like you said. A trick up the sleeve."

Now Zeta just watched as I got into the armor one piece at a time. In all honesty the armor was amazing to put on. Made me feel like I didn't need to be scared of getting shot. Zeta with wide eyes was in awe as this armor was very fitted to my size. Once fully dressed, I got back on the cloak. Zeta immediately shouted.

"Stop!"

Looking right to her, I watched as she stood up to place her hand on my chest. She shivered in place and stated.

"This is some pretty fucking amazing armor. Where did you get this? It's carbon fiber right? That really crazy type of Kevlar that can eat fifty caliber rounds? This shit isn't even on the market yet. And if it was I bet only G.U.N could afford it."

Nodding as her hand went down to my arm, I replied.

"We actually got it from G.U.N. Stole quite a few of them. I figured I'd need something like this to go out and do this on my own."

Taking her hand back she said still in awe.

"Can I have one?"

Now I just chuckled as she immediately shouted.

"I'm serious!"

Retaking a seat I replied.

"Maybe after Gorgon is dead. But you'd have to come back with me to get it."

Laughing she then stated.

"I'll follow you anywhere if I could get that."

Slowly walking back to her side of the table, I then wondered.

"How much longer till we go?"

Looking to her watch she replied.

"Storm should be over soon. Maybe another hour or so then we'll go for the truck. We might get lucky and get a head start."

Nodding my head I refocused back on the armor. The cloak hid it well. With any luck I wouldn't draw too much attention. Not like that would matter in an hour. All that matter was keeping this girl alive till then. She can't die.

Hunter's POV.

Everyone was accounted for. The city was safe. But outside looked horrible. With any luck we could get the mess cleaned up in a few days. Can't begin to imagine what Pakistan or even Afghanistan look like right now.

Yawning as I walked through the hallways. I caught the attention of Marx who was on his way to his room. With a concerned look he asked as he approached my side.

"You okay?"

Nodding I replied.

"Yeah I'm fine. You?"

"Worried. Raptor isn't okay."

"We talked earlier. He apologized for what he did."

"What? Really?"

Smiling as we now were at a stop, I replied.

"Yeah. I mean he's clearly upset. He's hurting Marx. I can't do anything to help him recover from what he lost. All I wanted him to know was that I was here for him."

"And? What did he say back?" Wondered Marx in response as I calmly replied.

"He wants us to just be friends. He doesn't want me getting hurt next if people find out we had a relationship."

Nodding Marx then asked.

"Are you okay with that?"

"Yeah. I am. It's just a little upsetting. But I can adapt. If this is how he wants things to be I'll accept that and move on. For him."

Marx smiled and replied back almost instantly.

"That's good. We need him to be calm emotionally. Having unneeded stress isn't what he needs right now. Is he in his room?"

"He wanted to sleep. I don't know how he can with the storm, but all the more reason why I don't plan to bother him anytime soon."

Marx nodded and with his hand he pulled me back into a gentle walking pace. Nearing my room he urged.

"You should try to do the same. The storm won't be much longer. But in the morning we will need everyone out to help clean up the city. Even I'll be out there helping."

Smiling I replied.

"Not like I have any other plans right now anyway. You going to bed too?"

"You bet. Depending on how he is tomorrow I wanted to try and convince him to let me look at him. I need to make sure his wounds are cleaned. Hopefully he'll let me."

"I'm sure he will Marx. He just needs the time to rest and think. Maybe after a few more days he'll be okay to try and take over for Archer." We still need him as a leader.

Marx agreed then urged.

"Sleep well. Okay?"

Smiling back I replied.

"I will. See you tomorrow Marx."

"Night." He then said as he continued on his way down the hall. With my door closing behind me I let out a sigh and went straight for my bed. God only knows what tomorrow will be like. But it's all up hill from here.

Raptor's POV, an hour later.

We had to push to get out the door, but as soon as we got outside Zeta and I widened our eyes at the aftermath the storm had brought. Sand was everywhere. Couldn't even see the roads it was that bad. Besides that trash was scattered everywhere. This would take days to clean up. I can't even being to imagine the amount of damages. Just this street alone was a wreak.

"Come on. With any luck the door won't be buried." Stated Zeta as I continued follow her up the road. With my hood over my head, bandana covering my face, I watched with careful eyes as we made our way towards a nearby alley. Thankfully not nearly as much sand got in here. We managed to find the door without much trouble. Zeta smiled as she bent down to grab the handle of the garage door. I kept an eye out as she lifted it up to say.

"Bingo."

Looking back at her I rested my eyes on a big pickup truck. Nothing too fancy but towards the back I went to see the bike laying down in the back.

"A sand drifter?" I said in confusion as she approached from my side to reply.

"Stole it from some guys who were racing out in Afghanistan. Nice bike. Should get us through the desert no problem. After all. Hence the name."

Patting my shoulder she ordered.

"Hop in. We got quite a ride ahead of us."

Watching me with curious eyes, I jumped into the back with the bike.

"What you doing?" She then asked as I got myself situated.

"It'll be easier to shoot from back here. Hand me that bag. I urged her as I reached under my cloak for the sling to the M4." Tossing me the small rut sack I placed it down next to my side and asked.

"You got a cover or something for this? My men will try to stop us if they see all this in the back. Especially me."

Nodding Zeta replied.

"Under the bike. Hand it here."

Going under the bike I found the cover and tossed it her way. In speed she laid it out on top of the bike and made her way back to me. With a smile she asked.

"You sure your ready for this? Hasn't it been a few years since you had to fight?"

Looking her right in the eyes I replied.

"I've been fighting my whole life. You just worry about driving. It would be sad if I had to do everything."

Chuckling to my response Zeta then urged.

"Well keep your head down and don't make any noise when we get to the border. Once we are outside I'll head right for the airfield. The second you hear shooting you make sure to wake up and cover me okay? Oh and here." Handing me the keys to the bike she ordered.

"The second we stop you get the bike up and ready to go. Cause we won't be staying long. Got it?"

Nodding I put my head back and waited as she covered me up along with the bike. Once secured she shouted.

"Here we go then!"

Bringing my rifle in close I took a breath and now waited as I heard her get in the front. This was going to get hairy. I just hope we get out of the city without a hitch. No telling what my men might do seeing this truck leaving so fast after the storm ended.

But with confidence I relaxed myself and listened to the sound of the truck starting.

Zeta's POV.

This was it. Pulling onto the road I looked back to make sure Voltz was staying where I put him. God I hope the cover stays on.

Pulling slowly onto the main road I began a slow drive through the city. Thankfully we were the only car on the road right now. I doubt anyone will be joining us anytime soon. And with the sky dark I looked out my back window to make sure I wasn't be followed. Once certain I was safe I continued the drive. With the path just a straight shot to the border I took a moment to reach for my rifle. Taking the strap off my body I tucked the gun next to my door and my seat. With any luck no one would notice.

In a matter of minutes the border gate came within sight.

Knocking on the back of the truck I shouted.

"We're here! Keep quiet!"

I got a knock back as a response from Voltz. Smiling as I pulled up to the gate, I looked around to see no one manning the post. Lights were on in the guard building on the catwalk. Beeping my horn twice I soon saw the door up there open. Out came a few rebellion soldiers who looked down at the truck. The officer began to make his way down as I reached in the seat next to me for my bag. Reaching in to grab my ID, I looked back to see the man nearing the truck. With wide eyes he urged me to lower my window.

With the glass coming down I asked.

"Can you guys open up?" The officer got within reach to look at me directly. With confusion he replied.

"What you doing out this late? You shouldn't be on the road right now. Not with all this mess out here."

"I was trying to leave the city earlier today but got held up thanks to this shit. Figure now that it's gone I can finally get heading home." I stated as he then asked.

"And where's that miss...?"

Handing him my fake ID I replied.

"Afghanistan. Got my husband there waiting for me. So any day now would be great."

The officer gave me a glare to my snark. Slowly he handed me back my ID and began to make his way around the truck.

"What's in the back?" He asked as I looked out the window to reply.

"My bike."

With my eyes watching him closely, I began to reach for my rifle. I didn't want to do this the hard way. "But if he finds...?"

Throwing the cover off the back, I widened my eyes as Raptor was gone. The officer stared at the bike as I suddenly heard a soft knock on the side door. Throwing my head back Raptor was on the other side of the door. With his hand pointing under the car I nodded and looked back at the officer as he said.

"Nice bike. Hmmm."

Looking back to where Raptor was I saw he was suddenly gone again. My mind quickly registered what he was doing. And with a smile I looked back to reply.

"Thanks. So about the gate?"

Nodding the officer came back to the window to respond.

"You just be careful out there. It's probably a mess out there as well. Don't need you getting stuck or buried."

"That's why I got the bike." I stated with a smile as he nodded and looked up to the two men to shout.

"Open it!"

Obeying the gate began to lift. Once open he looked back to me to urge.

"Take care now."

Not giving him a response, I quickly drove out of the city. Once a good distance out I said to myself.

"Fucking guy has some nerve."

Pulling over I got out of the truck to look under. Raptor was holding by a thread as I asked.

"You okay down there?"

Letting go he replied.

"I'm fine. Help me out."

Taking his hand, I pulled him up to urge.

"Get back in. We need to keep moving."

Nodding he replied.

"Yeah. Good idea."

Watching as he climbed in the back, I took notice to his body. For a hedgehog he was quite built for his age. The armor sure added a certain...degree of attraction. At least for me anyway. Once he was seated I asked.

"You ready?"

"Yeah." He replied as he brought the rifle onto his lap.

"Okay. Good. Let's do this shit then."

Retaking the driver's seat I put pedal to the medal and began to head straight for the airfield. It was a good distance out and with any luck we could get a good jump on the contractors. But knowing my track record...?

"Zeta!" Shouted Voltz as I looked back to see a truck making it's way over one of the dunes behind us.

"Oh god damn it!" I shouted back as I now put my focus on the road.

Voltz got his rifle ready as I shouted back to him.

"I was hoping they were going to let us drive a little before engaging!"

"They aren't trying to gain on us yet! Chances are they have buddies up ahead waiting! Keep an eye out!" He urged me as I did just that.

Knowing this was going to be happening much sooner rather then later, I reached for my rifle and ordered.

"You take shots the second their friends show up!"

"Just drive!" He replied back as I placed my gun down on my lap to pull us out towards the dunes. Raptor held himself in the back of the truck as we began to level out. The truck behind us kept right on our ass as I knew we still had a long way to go.

With my eyes looking all around I soon spotted another truck coming from the east. Then another from the west. This time however both of them had men in the back. I counted well over ten guys between the two trucks alone. Raptor began to aim as it was clear they were going to be surrounding us soon enough.

With the first truck getting closer to our rear I widened my eyes as suddenly a bike came out from behind them. In an instant the man on the bike took the first shot.

"BANG!"

The round came right through the glass behind me. Ducking my head I shouted.

"Shoot! Shoot them!"

Raptor did just that. Opening up with the rifle I gave him, I looked towards the side mirror to see him landed direct shots on the driver of the bike. In an instant the bike lost all control and the driver fell off. Raptor then aimed at the truck. Sending shots at the windshield, the truck ventured off to the left side. Trying it's best to avoid the rounds.

"Reloading!" Voltz shouted as I watched the magazine fall out of the rifle. Quickly grabbing another from the back next to him, I looked back to the other two trucks. By now they were getting close. Raptor who just finished loading his gun instantly began to fire off at the men in the back. Sending one of the soldiers over the edge of the truck I smiled as you could see his body tumbling behind in the sand. But just as fast as Raptor got him, the others began to start shooting back. Ducking down in the back to avoid the rounds, I took my chance to try and cover. Keeping my foot on the gas I used both my arms to aim my rifle out the window.

"BANG! BANG! BANG!"

With my rounds hitting the front tires the truck began to swerve out. Raptor then stood back up to fire more at it. In almost a blink of an eye the truck lost control and was sent onto it's hood in a flip. The men in the back all were thrown out as I laughed and looked to our right to see more bikes coming from the west. This time their were three of them, each with men on the back only focused on shooting.

With Raptor changing clips once more, I ducked my head as rounds came in through the passenger door.

"BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!"

Catching one in my side I let out a gag and sat up to try and keep control of the truck. Voltz glanced back at me in concern as I turned the wheel all the way right to head right for the bikes.

Catching only one of the bikes with my quick turn, I watched as it's passengers rolled right over my hood and onto the sand.

"You okay!?" Asked Raptor next as I nodded my head to reply.

"I'm fine! The vest caught it!"

Taking my answer with a grain of salt, Voltz opened up on the other truck.

"BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!"

With the men in the back ducking down this time, I widened my eyes as Raptor ran out of ammo. The men in the back of the truck knew and immediately began to fire back.

"Shit!" I shouted as I turned left to try and avoid anymore hits through my side door.

Raptor kept down as I knew we were nearing the end of this drive. The rounds were hitting the back tires and with that being said I shouted back at him.

"I'm going to stop us! Get ready with the bike!"

Raptor sat back up as I did just that.
