Hill Valley Public Library
10:35 AM
(Marty makes it to the library)
Marty: Excuse me?
Librarian: Yes?
Marty: Do you guys happen to have any newspaper archives from 1936?
Librarian: Sorry Kid but all of our newspaper archives from before 1960 were lost in a fire explosion in 1959. But I can tell you this the best person to tell you anything from 1871 onward is Edna Strickland.
Marty: Edna Strickland?
Librarian: She has every newspaper archive from 1871 to today. You can find her place near the arcade around the courthouse square. But be careful, she can be very hard to get along with.
Marty: Figures.
(Marty makes it near the arcade which isn't far from the courthouse square)
Tiff: Hey McFly!
Marty: Tiff. What are you doing here?
Tiff: Just about to his some games in the arcade. Yourself?
Marty: About to see Edna Strickland to look up some archives from 1936.
Tiff: Ha! What a loser! More of a loser than my ex-boyfriend Douglas J. Needles!
Marty: Hey watch it! I'm doing something important! And yeah Needles he's an asshole!
Tiff: Agree with you on Needles but you should be having fun on weekends butthead! (Enters the arcade while Marty rings the doorbell)
Edna: Step away from the door you hooligan!
Marty: Hey watch it I'm not a hooligan! I've come here to look up some newspaper archives from 1936!
Edna: 1936? First time someone has come to me for some information. Come in!
Marty: You've got a lot of stairs here Ms. Strickland.
Edna: So what do you want to know from 1936?
Marty: First off are you related to Principal Stanford S. Strickland at Hill Valley High?
Edna: Yes I'm his older sister.
Marty: Thought so. Anyways where are your newspaper archives that the librarian says you collect?
Edna: Right over here on my stack, hang on sonny. Ha Ha! Here's some information you'd love to know about 1936. The day the Hill Valley speakeasy burnt down!
Marty: Speakeasy?
Edna: Yeah, where the Hill Valley Video Store is.
Marty: Really?
Edna: yeah, check the date with my binoculars.
Marty: I see Biff walking out of the store. Rebuild in February 1937. But when was it destroyed?
Edna: June 13, 1936. This newspaper proves it.
Marty: Speakeasy destroyed…
Edna: You kids! Put out those cigarettes! (Tea kettle boiling) That's the kettle I gotta go check on it. Keep reading.
Marty: By Carl Sagan who will be sent to jail for a certain amount of years as determined by Judge Erhardt Brown on June 14, 1936… Carl Sagan? Could he possibly be?
(Takes the June 15, 1936 newspaper with title saying Speakeasy destroyer Carl Sagan killed by Irving "Kid" Tannen and his gang in front of the courthouse after they kidnapped him from the jail.)
Marty: Ahh! It's Doc! Killed by Kid Tannen and his gang! Oh no! We've gotta go rescue him immediately! (Accidently knocks newspaper stack while running)
Edna: My newspapers! You've gotten my history all out of order! Do you know how long it will take me to rebuilt it?!
Marty: I'm sorry Ms. Strickland it was an accident but I realized that I have to be somewhere right now and then this happened because of it. Let me help you out.
Edna: No! Get out! Get Out! Help police! I'm being attacked by hooligans!
