Love Struck Delusion
Chapter 120 – Setting the record straight.
Raptor's POV.
Unlocking the front door to the capital, I pushed outside in front of more then a few armed guards. They all looked to me with wide eyes and lowered guns as I ordered with a strong roar.
"We have G.U.N in the perimeter! Spread out and get this area secured!"
The men immediately moved to my order as I looked to another squad to order.
"Keep the walls manned! Now!"
My voice was reaching it's old strict tone. But I was angry. It brought me back to Smoke. That fucker I shoved through a plane turbine years ago. I knew right now I was scary to anyone just looking at me. I couldn't even account for just my appearance alone. I didn't care ether. Walking for the nearest truck, I was stopped by two medics who urged.
"Your hurt sir! Let us look at you!"
Pushing past both of them, I got in the truck and shouted at the men at the gate.
"Open up!"
They followed my command to the letter and as soon as it was opened I hit the gas and made a break for the main border just east.
Gorgon's POV.
Opening my eyes I found myself in pitch darkness.
"What the fuck?" I questioned as I felt my hands above my head being restrained.
"Where am I?" I asked as I heard nothing but silence around me.
As I sat here in the dark, I remembered Linnen. That fucker sold me out. He took advantage and jumped me back in that office. I should have known better. But why? Did he trade me off to those same guys that killed Scrotus and the others? He had to have. Where else would I be right now? Trying to free my hands I soon realized it was pointless. I would just have to wait this out and see what exactly was going on.
Raze's POV.
Raptor was gone and the capital had men running all over looking for any more G.U.N intruders. I was left with Zeta and two men from Pierce's squad. With Tusk still asleep in his bed, I looked to the men who stood guard at the door.
"Can one of you help me? I need to get her off this floor."
Looking back one of the men replied.
"Yeah of course. Where to?"
Getting behind Zeta's head I said.
"Just onto the bed over there. Please."
With one guy remaining at the door, the other got her by the legs to help me lift and carry her to the bed. Once she was down I said.
"Thank you."
"No problem." He replied as I went back to looking over Zeta's neck. I was at a complete loss as to what he did. I saw what happened. Zeta took a direct round to her neck. It tore through everything. Blood was spilling everywhere. Half of it is still on the floor. Then with nothing but his hands he grasps the wound and it's gone. Zeta was going to die. She should have died. As a doctor I saw no possible way to save her from that kind of trauma. I even began to cry to him, but Raptor...he just...he just did. Then he slumps away like he just had his life sucked from out of him. I didn't know what to say. He just went from doing that to running out and fighting a war. I didn't know if he was just stupid or a remarkable specimen. But I needed to know what he did. It was like magic. What he did was fairytale. But now the concern was him. He was in critical condition. His eye alone was slashed open. Even on pure adrenaline he can't remain standing losing blood at a constant rate. But after what happened with Zeta I wasn't even sure if he was still losing blood.
With Zeta stable and sleeping I let out a sigh and sat down next to her in a chair. I didn't know what to do. Or even what to think in general.
Raptor's POV.
I was right. Hannon was attacking. As I stopped at the border I could hear nothing but gunfire and bombs going off from nearly all directions outside the gates. The men on the walls were all firing blindly as I approached from below. As I neared, one of the officers on duty turned to ask.
"Who are you!?"
"Commander Raptor Voltz. Iraq rebellion and now Afghanistan rebellion! Stand down or I'll have your hand!" The man bit his tongue. My commanding voice overpowered them all and standing tall he replied.
"We heard rumors you arrived not long ago sir! Guess they were true!"
Stepping in front of the dirt covered officer, I replied.
"There is no guessing here Lieutenant! What's the status of my men!"
"We're holding! G.U.N forces are giving it their all to push this gate! For right now we have their tanks in a firing position just a few hundred meters from here!"
"How many!?" I asked as I went for the stairs leading up to the wall.
As I got up there I looked over to bear witness to all the chaos. Bodies were everywhere. From both sides. But G.U.N was taking losses. Regardless of how I saw it the officer replied.
"We took out the two choppers that came in! No telling if there are anymore sir!"
"How many tanks Lieutenant!?" I asked again as he quickly replied.
"Four commander! They are secured under a firing line just past those men you see covering the right flank!"
Looking out I saw what he was describing. At least ten guys all scoping out the right side of the battleground. Nodding my head I then asked.
"We got any explosives left!?"
"Yes sir! Most are already out on the field, but we have a couple bricks of C4 and some AT rockets just in the crates outside the gate!"
Looking to the man I ordered.
"I want what men we have left at this position to focus fire on that right flank!"
"Sir!?" He said in confusion as I approached the wall between the men who were focused on the battle.
"You heard me Lieutenant! Give the order!"
Looking right at me the officer nodded and shouted.
"I need a firing line on the right flank! Now!"
With the men running for the right flank, I looked back to the officer to shout.
"When you see those tanks go up I want everyone to push forward! I don't care how many are left! You just do it Lieutenant! Send the word out to the field! The commander is leading this assault!"
"Yes sir!" He replied as I turned my attention to battlefield. Grabbing onto the edge of the wall, I sent myself right over. The men manning the gate looked back at me in a panic as I landed right next to them. The second they locked eyes with me we heard over comms.
"Commander Voltz is requesting all units hold position till the right flank is secured and the tanks are eliminated! All units support!"
Now knowing who I was, I ordered.
"Cover the front! You, you, and you! The rest of you are to lay down firing support for the left! Now!"
Everyone moved as a bullet came right by my head. Hitting the gate behind me, I took that as my chance to move. Running for the weapons cache the Lieutenant mentioned, I broke open the locks to the remaining cases and pulled out the remaining rockets we had. Only two single shot launchers remained as I strapped both around my back.
"Raptor!" I heard someone shout as I looked right to see a familiar face running my direction. A light blue hedgehog. One I haven't seen for years. But I knew instantly by the voice. Coming right up to me covered in nothing but sand and blood, I saw he was shot in the vest maybe three time and had a round in his left leg. He stumbled to me to take cover as I refocused and opened the last crate with the C4.
"Dom can you still fight!?" I asked him as he let out a few breathes to reload his M4. With the clip in he replied.
"Yeah I'm fine! This shit won't stop me! What are you doing here!? I heard you were in Iraq!"
Throwing everything we had left into a pack duffel, I stated back.
"I'm here cause I'm done leaving others to fight for me! This is my fucking war and I'll be damned if I sit it out like Linnen! Now we can chat after this is done! I need you and your men to cover me!"
"Sir!?" He replied in confusion as I ordered.
"I'm taking the right flank! We aren't letting Hannon through those gates! Not a single man will cross this line! You hear me Sergeant!?"
"Yes sir!" He replied as I stood up to order.
"Then move!"
Dom was one of the best men I knew in a fight. I had full faith in him to do what I ordered. Running out past him and towards his men who were on the front line, I got in between them to shout.
"Listen up!"
Dom got right next to me to take over.
"The commander is taking this right flank! We're pushing forward! Cover his ass! All of you!"
"Yes sir!" Everyone replied as a round came in hitting one of his men in the back of the head.
Dom got down as the blood splashed my chest and the body hit the sand under me. Grabbing my M4 I ordered.
"Show them no mercy men! None! Now let's go!"
Everyone watched as I stood up to charge the line. Hopping the sandbags, I began a direct run right down the center. G.U.N had their men lined behind their armored transports. Each trained in on me now as I charged. In seconds, I felt two rounds connect to my chest. But I was running on nothing but adrenaline. This was what I lived for. What I fought for. What I was trained to do. There was no room to be scared. My men were dying for me on these dunes. I'm no leader if I don't do the same.
Taking cover in a deep ditch a grenade must have made, I readied my rifle and peeked up to spot two soldiers closing in.
I wasn't in the mood to play games anymore. This was a war. Sending my rifle into full auto I opened up dropping them in a matter of seconds. Once their bodies hit the sand, I ducked back in the ditch to see Dom and his men pushing out from their position. With fire now redirected their way, I got up and ran right to a nearby pile of bodies. Most my men.
Jumping down to use them as cover, I looked left from my angle to see one of the soldiers exposed shooting at Dom. Taking aim, I let two rounds fly straight for him.
"Toof! Toof!"
I watched from my scope as you could see his head recoil to the side with blood splashing out from the other side. With the soldier tumbling behind the truck, I got on my feet to run for it. Dom and his men took any and all cover they had down near the ditches to try and support my approach. With everyone focused on them it made my job quite simple as I reached the armored truck without anyone seeing.
Unloading my clip, I reached into my vest to pull out another and load the M4. Once in I went behind the truck to peek out at where the fire was heavily coming from.
Six others had their backs to me as I opened up with every bullet in my clip. I counted three dropping immediately and hitting a forth, before the last two turned to fire my way.
"On the flank!" I heard one shout as I took cover.
Looking back to my men, I saw Dom running full speed up at the remaining soldiers. His men came in behind as I repeeked to catch one of them trying to turn to refocus on Dom who was soon at their doorstep.
"Toof! Toof! Toof! Click!"
Hitting him in the side, I watched as Dom came up to finish the job. Firing five more rounds at the down trooper. Then with a swift turn he shot the last in the back.
Unloading my empty clip, I pulled out another and reloaded. Once set, I jogged out from behind the truck to order.
"Take this position! I'm going up to handle the armor!"
"Yes sir!" Replied Dom as I ran for the dune. As I neared the top, two more men came running out from the other side.
"Toof! Toof! Toof! Toof! Toof! Toof!"
Dropping both with direct rounds to their chests, I kept running as they rolled down the dune at me. Once at the top I saw the tanks the Lieutenant spoke about. They were piled up on one another focusing their fire at what armor my rebellion had on the left and front of the field. Not a soul covered them as I took my chance to run for the rear.
Reaching the first tank's back tracts, I grabbed a C4 charge out from the duffel on my back to place it on the exposed gas line. Once secured, I did the same to the second. Then the third. By the time I reached the forth; I widened my eyes as a man came rounding the corner with his rifle up.
"BANG!"
Taking a round to my lower stomach, I charged and tackled the man at his waist. Sending his rifle a good distance away with the power I hit him to the ground with, I reached for my knife and sent it at his chest. The kid couldn't have been older then twenty as I watched the life drain from his eyes. With his hands falling limp under me, I ripped my blade out and refocused on the last tank.
Setting the last charge, I shut my eyes as the tank fired off a round. The shear sound of it alone was making me go deaf as I ran off a good thirty feet to the back of the G.U.N line. Grabbing onto one of the two rockets I had, I aimed for one of the two middle tanks. With my one eye already shot, I shut the other as the rocket fired off and into the C4 I placed. In nearly an instant it and the other three went off like a set of dominoes. The tanks physically could be felt blowing up from this distance. With a smoke cloud and a clap of thunder echoing the battlefield, I looked to see everyone pushing forward from the main gate. G.U.N could be seen now panicking as their muscle had been taken down from under them. But the battle wasn't over. Hundred of my men and hundreds of theirs could be seen dying by the dozens as Dom and his men came up on my position.
"What now sir!?" Asked Dom as I ordered.
"Take your men and secure this flank! Help the frontal assault teams push these fuckers back!"
"What about you!?" Questioned Dom as I quickly replied.
"I'm going after Hannon before they have time to retreat!"
"Raptor that's suicide!" Stated Dom as I nodded and replied.
"I know! But I'm not letting that bastard get another chance! He's done hurting this country! He's done hurting my people! You hear me!?"
Everyone stared at me in awe as I shouted.
"This battle ends tonight!"
Dom's face said it all. He knew he couldn't stop me from doing this. I knew the risks. But he wasn't going to try ether. He trusted me. Not as his leader from before but as his leader now. With tensions high I ordered.
"Now get going!"
"What do I tell command!?" Asked Dom as I ran for the east. Stopping to look back, I yelled.
"You tell them what I told you! If all goes well G.U.N won't have a base to retreat to! If that happens you all push! You secure this country!"
"Yes sir!" He replied as I now ran into the desert. Behind enemy lines I was alone. Hannon was only a few miles out. The night was getting cold, but I didn't have the time nor the need to care. This was it. That old prick fucked me and sold my family out to Linnen! This isn't just for Afghanistan. This is for Ghost. For Midnight. For both my kids that should be here now. This is for the family I never got to have. For the future of everyone. But above all us.
This was for me.
Zeta's POV.
Opening my eyes I found myself in a bed. The lights were on, and looking to my left I found Raze sitting at my side. Her head in her hands as I mumbled in confusion.
"Raze?"
Instantly her eyes opened and she looked up with a huge smile to shout.
"Zeta!"
Wrapping me up into a hug, I let out a painful chuckle as she cried over my shoulder.
"I didn't know what to do! I didn't! You were...?!"
"I know." I replied as she pulled away to ask.
"How are you feeling? You lost a lot of blood before you left us."
Trying to lift my upper half up, I replied while getting her help.
"Lightheaded. And my throat is a little sore."
Smiling Raze laughed.
"No surprise when you got shot right in the neck. Thank god your awake."
"Where's Raptor?" I asked in confusion as I tried to get my legs on the ground. Keeping in front of me just in case Raze replied.
"I don't know. He left after he...after he...?" We stared at one another. I nodded my head slowly and said.
"Okay. What else happened? Is the building safe?"
Nodding Raze replied.
"Pierce and his men found the breach. They got in using the sewage tunnels underground. It's been sealed now from what I've been told. Everything else secured. There are troopers covering everything now. Just to be safe."
Standing up from the bed, Raze let me walk on my own now as I asked.
"Where is Pierce?"
"With commander Mason in his office upstairs. Raptor ordered his safety above all else."
Nodding my head, I urged.
"Come on then. I need to ask him something."
Raze followed without much trouble as I exited the hall to be greeted by two of Pierce's teammates.
"Your awake." One stated as I smiled.
"Yeah. I need to see Pierce."
Nodding the other replied.
"He's upstairs. Door is open."
Making my way down the hallway, we soon approached the main doors. Both Raze and I widened our eyes as bodies were still being cleaned up. I counted seven bags being filled as I did my best to go for the main stairs. Once there I was spotted from inside the office by Pierce who shouted.
"Zeta!"
Walking into the office, I smiled as Juper and Mason were also here. Mason at his desk as Juper stood at his backside with his rifle.
"I heard you got hit hard by one of those goons before Raptor got there. Knocked you out cold. Are you okay?"
In confusion, I looked to Raze who nodded her head. Understanding the problem I replied.
"I'm fine. Thank god he got there in time. Otherwise...?" Pierce quickly approached to ask.
"What's wrong?"
"Where is he?" I asked bluntly as Mason looked up at me from his spot. Pierce went silent and looking to the human he replied.
"He went out onto the front lines with everyone else." I widened my eyes in absolute confusion to question.
"I caught a glimpse of him before I passed out! He was bleeding! I think I even saw he was shot! Why the hell did he go out there!"
Remaining behind his desk Mason replied.
"We tried to get him help. He marched out of here like a man on a mission."
"Which he is." Stated Pierce as Juper added.
"He said he was going to kill Hannon. That rebellion turncoat who now leads the attacking forces here in Afghanistan."
"And when I told him it was suicide he replied?" Said Mason as he turned attention to Pierce who stood before me.
"This is my war. I will not stand by as more people die. I'm going out there and fighting."
I was at a loss. Raptor is in no condition to go to war. As I went silent Juper added.
"He also said. You do your fucking job and protect this building. Which is the plan for now. We did all we could Zeta. There wasn't any stopping him."
"He's a leader." Stated Pierce as I looked to Mason.
"He's the only one both dumb and heroic enough to go out in that shape and fight alongside his men. Raptor was never one to sit down and take it Zeta. He won't stand by as people who fight for him die. He'd gladly risk his life for his beliefs. As much as I wanted him to stay there wasn't anything left I could say to change that. Just like Shadow Robotnik he will fight till he's dead. Or he's won."
"Or both." Stated Juper as I let out a deep breath to hear Pierce say.
"He's ordered all units to hold position till he secures the right flank. G.U.N has the last of their armor holding that side."
"He's out there risking everything. Trying to give this country the motivation it needs to push forward." Stated Mason as they all now looked to me.
As we stood there now, all eyes on me. We all looked to hear Mason's comm go off on top of his desk.
"The right flank is secured! All units are ordered to push enemy lines! Don't give them time to breathe!" A man shouted as you could hear the gunfire in the background going off.
Smiling Juper said.
"Looks like he really did it. That son of a bitch! Hahah!" Mason even smiled as Pierce let out a small chuckle.
It felt like a ten pound weight was taken off my shoulders as I knew he was alive then. Or at the least I hoped. Looking to Mason I asked.
"What now?"
Refocusing back on me he replied.
"We push them back."
"What about Raptor?" I asked as he looked to Pierce. Suddenly everything went weird in the room as Pierce got in front of me to place his hands on my shoulders.
"He's going after Hannon. That means he's pushing the base."
With wide eyes I yelled.
"With who!? Just him!? Pierce if he ran off ahead we both know his men won't break lines till well after he's dead!"
Pierce held me in place as I looked to Mason for an explanation. Getting nothing I heard from Raze behind me.
"Come on Zeta. We should...!?" Pushing Pierce a foot back I replied.
"Screw that Raze! He's throwing his life away!"
"What does it matter to you? Your just another soldier. One I don't even know." Stated Mason as everyone looked to him.
Standing my ground I replied.
"It matters when that asshole has saved your life more then on one occasion! It matters!"
Mason stared me dead in the eyes as I looked to Pierce to state.
"I'm going after him."
Pierce grabbed my arm and in an instant I sent him to the ground with a quick turn of my hips, sending him over my back with force. Juper came running out from the desk as Mason stood up to point his gun at me. With Pierce holding his hands up to me and Juper standing a foot away, Raze got in between us all to shout.
"Stop! Everyone just stop!"
Mason kept his gun on me as I looked Pierce right in the eyes to say in a direct growl.
"I'm going!"
Smiling through the pain, he replied.
"Okay. Don't let me try to stop you. Lower that gun Mason." He urged him as I looked back at the human at the desk.
Lowering his weapon he said.
"You go out there and I can't guarantee your safety. There is a fucking war going on."
"I don't need your safety." I replied as Juper got in to grab Pierce by the arm.
"We're on the same side here Zeta. We all want the commander to be safe but there isn't anything we can do."
"That's where your wrong. As long as I can still fight that's what I'm going to do."
"This isn't your war Zeta." Stated Raze as she turned to face me.
"I know. But we both know there are still questions I need answered. Questions only that asshole can answer. Trust me Raze. I'm bringing him back. Alive!" I shouted as a statement to everyone in the room.
With Pierce back on his feet, I looked back to the human Mason as he said.
"Then you'll need weapons."
Smiling I replied.
"I'll bring my own. Thank you very much. Just tell me how to get there."
"Head east to the main gate. Lieutenant Barker is in charge of the forces in the field. Might have changed since Raptor got there though. I'll radio ahead. Tell him your coming. But be warned. The second you leave this city your a target. Once you leave my lines, leave my rebellion, my men. Your on your own."
"Understood." I replied as I marched out of the office with Raze hot on my tail.
"You can't be serious! You just got up Zeta! Please think about this!"
Running into my room, I found my M4 missing.
"Raptor took it when he left." Looking back I saw Pierce standing there with Juper.
"Lucky for him I have a backup." Going into my other duffel, I pulled out my second rifle. A custom AK-12 assault rifle. This baby was my lover back in the Russian armed forces. Since then I fitted it with my own custom red and blank paint and a few added attachments. A suppressor and a three times scope. Tossing the rifle on my back and grabbing what clips I had for it, I pulled up my vest that Raptor damaged and got it all together and fitted.
"Zeta please!" Begged Raze as I reached in to grab onto my knee and elbow pads.
"Stop Raze!" I ordered her as I got them on.
Pulling out the last of my ammo and a silver case, I said to the fox.
"I'll be back. But I need to do this. I told that asshole I was standing by him through this. Just cause I got knocked down doesn't mean I will stay down and just let him do this alone."
"Your all the help he has." Stated Pierce as I looked to the wolf to reply.
"I know I am. That's why I need to get going now. When we get back I'll buy you a drink to apologize for that handling Captain." Pierce chuckled as Juper urged.
"Radio in when you find him. Hopefully by then the rest of the rebellion will be on the way."
Nodding, I stood up to once again be face with Raze. Grabbing her by the shoulder I ordered.
"Go watch over Tusk and rest. When I get back with Raptor we'll need you ready."
Raze nodded her head really fast under my grip as I smiled and made my way past Pierce and Juper. They both watched me head for the stairs, and upon getting outside I found a free ride and made my way to the battle.
I'd be damned if Raptor had all the fun.
mT Shadow.
