Love Stuck Delusion
Chapter 122 – You don't know me.
Zeta's POV.
"Raptor!" I shouted as I got off my bike to see him on the side of the road, gun pointed at Hannon.
Reaching for my rifle, I took a step forward to widened my eyes when all the sudden an explosive engulfed both Raptor and the truck he was facing. I stopped in my tracks as the truck went feet back from the power of the blast.
"Oh my god!" I shouted as smoke now covered the area where he once stood. Letting my gun stay on my back, I waited as the smoke cleared and Raptor was face first in the sand feet away from where the truck once was.
"Raptor!" I screamed as I ran to his body. Getting down on my knees, I placed my hands on his shoulder to see he was barely breathing.
"Raptor!" I shouted at him as I saw he was torn apart from the blast. Not getting a response, I gently tried to roll him over to his back. Managing to do what I aimed for, I widened my eyes at his condition.
Blood covered almost every part of his body even his face. His left leg was shot, his eye was cut wide open from top to bottom, multiple fragments of shrapnel were sticking out all over his torso and face. But worse was his right arm was nearly ripped in half from the blast. I could see bone. Placing my fingers under his neck I felt a pulse. But god knows how much longer it'll last.
"Don't you dare die!" I ordered him as I reached for the silver case on my back. Opening it up, I looked to see the three shots of viper venom we got off Scrotus. Taking one out, I leaned in on his neck. The second I got close I heard.
"Don't!"
Widening my eyes in a panic, I looked to see his eyes barely open.
"Raptor I need to give you this! It's your only chance!"
Coughing up some blood, he replied.
"Just wait Zeta! Please!"
"Raptor please!" I begged him as he went silent and shut his eyes.
As I sat here, I suddenly felt his hand reaching for the arm that held the venom. Grabbing onto my wrist, Raptor pulled it to the ground and mumbled.
"Don't let go!"
I was at a complete loss for what to do as I stared at his face. Then all the sudden I felt my arm getting warm. Looking to his hand, I soon realized it wasn't my arm. It was his hand that was holding me. Looking back to his face, I widened my eyes as I saw pieces of the shrapnel leaving his skin. The metal was literally pushing out of his skin and rolling off his face. I saw blood leave the wounds, but slowly they sealed leaving me in disbelief to what I was witnessing.
"Aghhh!" All the sudden Raptor let out a loud grunt of pain as I felt his grip get really tight on me. Opening his eyes, I panicked as he looked up at me to beg.
"Pull."
"Raptor what are you doing?" I asked him in loss as he just forced himself to move. Even if I didn't want him to he was still doing it. Carefully I helped him lift maybe a foot off the ground. Then all the sudden he released me and fell back down on his good arm. After which he placed his hand on the open wound on his arm. My whole body went still as I saw what he was doing. The muscles and the skin were coming back together. As if he was made of goo. They just moved back in place and in no more then thirty seconds I watched as it was soon back as a single piece. But as it happened, Raptor too fell back down onto his back fully. Motionless he laid there as I grew concerned for what just happened.
"Raptor?" I said softly as he didn't move. Not even a single breath I could see coming from his lungs. In fear, I again checked his pulse. He was barely there. I only felt a faint bump from within as I suddenly heard from my left.
"Crack!"
Looking left, I widened my eyes to see what has been coming for hours now, soon reaching our position.
Off in the distance was what appeared to be a sandstorm. But among the clouds of sand you could see lightning. This wasn't just a sandstorm. This was something far worse. Something we shouldn't be caught dead with outside. Looking back to Raptor, I knew I had to do something and fast.
There was no where to go. We were hours from the city and no one was coming for us.
"What do I do?" I asked myself in a panic as I looked around.
Stopping to look at the destroyed humvee, I had only one idea. Leaving Raptor for a second, I ran over to see the doors were still intact. Opening the back up, I widened my eyes at a dead G.U.N soldier in the back. Dragging out the body, I tossed him to the side and ran back to Raptor who remained out cold.
"Come on!" I begged him as I carefully got him from under the arms to start dragging.
Reaching the truck, I got down on my back and crawled inside. After everything that has happened the truck was on it's top upside down. Using all I had, I got in and reached back outside to grab onto Raptor by the straps of his vest. Pulling as hard as I could, I got him in with me and reached over to shut the door. Letting out heavy gasps of air, I looked behind me and out the other door to see the storm coming. In only a few seconds we were soon hit by a gush of wind. It sent the truck a few feet to the other side as I soon realized sand was going to pour in through the broken window.
"Come on! Come on!" I shouted as I looked for a way to seal it.
Taking off my vest, I shoved it in between the spot where the glass should have been. Thankfully it was just small enough to get caught into each side of the pane and it stuck there as now barely any sand managed to get in. Still breathing heavily, I now refocused on Raptor.
Grabbing him by the straps to his vest again, I pulled him up onto my lap. Placing his head right under my chest. I held him tightly as thunder cracked off above like an explosion.
I didn't know what else to do. Or how to play this out. We were trapped. Raptor was out cold. And I felt powerless to help ether of us. All I could do was protect him as it became clear this storm was going to have to be waited out.
Raze's POV.
Sitting next to Tusk, I couldn't help but shake in fear for Raptor and Zeta. It's been a few hours and I haven't heard anything. Keeping next to Tusk, I widened my eyes as Juper came walking in to smile.
"You okay doc?" He asked as I nodded slowly.
"I'll survive. Any word from Raptor or Zeta?"
Shaking his head, he replied while getting close.
"Comms are down from what I picked up from Mason. A storm is rolling through the city. It's on it's way now and people are running scared. It looks bad." He stated as I questioned.
"Well what are we going to do?"
"We're staying here. Right now Pierce wants everyone safe."
"And Raptor and Zeta?" I then asked as he gave me a soft look to reply.
"We haven't heard anything since they left. Chances are they might be okay, but we can't get to them. Not with the storm coming and the war still going on outside the border. All we can do is wait it out and hope we can raise them after."
Lowering my head in concern, I looked back up as Juper said.
"Hey doc?"
Locking eyes, he smiled and said.
"Raptor is a tough son of a bitch. So is your girl Zeta. I'm sure if they managed to regroup they'll figure something out. Ain't no rain or sand killing them."
Part of me truly believed that, as he chuckled and said.
"Hell I know Raptor is, but Zeta tossed Pierce down like a sack of hammers back there. She earned my respect and admiration. I'm positive their okay. I'll even bet on it if you want to."
Laughing some I replied.
"I'm good. Your right. I'm sure they are okay. I just can't help but be worried."
Juper nodded and made his way back to the door. Once there he turned back to urge.
"You should get some sleep doc. Pierce wants me to watch Tusk tonight so you can. No arguments." He stated as I quickly replied.
"Just give me another minute. I just want to be sure he's okay before I leave him."
"Of course. I'll be out here when your done."
With Juper leaving the room, I looked back to Tusk. Truth was Tusk wasn't going to wake up for at least another day or two in his condition. I had nothing to be worried about. But still Zeta and Raptor held my thoughts. Just how okay could those two be out there in the desert? Please god watch over them. I begged as I crossed my fingers.
Zeta's POV. Two hours later.
"Crack!"
My ears were down during all this. My eyes were shut and I tried my best to keep calm. The storm was worse then I could imagine. The truck we were hiding in moved constantly as it started. Every so often the winds dragged us a few more feet. But thank god the windows were holding. I had to block the others with just about anything I could find. Most came from parts of the interior to this truck that had broken off during the blast. But it was enough to keep the sand out and that's what mattered to me right now. But I was freezing. The night is normally cold in the desert but the storm made it worse. I could see my own breath as I laid here listening to the cracking of thunder above.
As I kept my thoughts and my eyes both closed, I suddenly felt something wet touch under my shirt. Looking down I saw Raptor had his head leaned against my stomach. Gently I pulled him up to widen my eyes. Blood was dripping out of his skull and onto my stomach.
"Wait what?" I asked in fear as I looked close to see part of his skull had been cracked open this whole time under his quills. Immediately I placed my fingers back under his neck to feel for his pulse. It was still there thank god, but I had to do something.
Looking around the flipped truck, I spotted a trauma kit right to my side resting along the door. Quickly I pulled it off the door and brought it down to my legs. Opening it up I grabbed onto the nearest gauze pad I could find. Tearing it out of the packaging, I then pulled out a small bottle of antiseptic. Gently splashing some on the pad, I then carefully placed it on the open wound. I began to watch close as Raptor's eyes started to flicker.
"It's okay." I whispered as I held it there.
"Relax." I begged him as it was clear he was in pain.
As I still held him from behind, I soon felt my heart race as I saw his eyes open.
"Zeta?" He asked as in what seemed like confusion to me as I kept the pad to his head.
"I'm here." I told him as he shut his eyes to breathe. I could feel the air leave his nose as he began to calm down.
"Where are we?" He asked slowly as I felt his left hand reach up to grab onto my forearm.
Pulling my hand forward; he looked at the pad. Letting go once he understood what was going on, I put it back and replied.
"Trapped in that humvee your friend was driving."
"Upside down?" He questioned as I chuckled.
"Yeah. Upside down."
With his hands going down to his sides, I gently felt another breath leave his body. After a few silent seconds he asked.
"What's going on outside?"
"Sandstorm I think." I replied as he then asked.
"When?"
Looking to my watch I replied back.
"About two hours ago. It hasn't let up. It's bad Raptor."
"Sounds like it." He then said as I had to ask.
"Are you okay?"
Expecting a straight forward answer in a time like this, I was caught off guard as he replied with a jolly tone.
"Sure. Perfectly fine. Give me another minute or two and I'll do some laps out there for ya in record time."
In disbelief I asked.
"You ever get tired of being a smart ass?"
"No." He replied as I smiled and felt his left hand raise up to my knee.
"Why did you come out here? You should be at the capital with the others."
"Why did you come out here? I can ask these questions too smart ass." I told him as my response. Soon I got back.
"Can't I just get a straight answer out of you for once?"
Letting out a laugh, I began to squeeze his neck.
"You are in no position to ask me that you stupid fuck!"
Coughing, he replied while grabbing my knee.
"Okay! Okay! Relax! Your killing me!"
Smiling, I released my grip and listened as he coughed and said.
"Thank you."
Hearing for once something I actually wanted to hear come out of his mouth, I raised my free hand and began to scratch behind his right ear.
"Your welcome."
Raptor went back to being still as I gently kept petting the top of his head. Slowly I felt his breathing turn into more of a purr. At that exact moment another bolt went off outside the truck. Raptor reopened his eyes to ask.
"Are we okay in here?"
Leaning over, I looked into his eyes to reply.
"Couldn't tell you. I sealed the windows so we wouldn't drown and it's holding, but the winds have been pushing us around for the past few hours. Hopefully if it stays like this we can just wait it out. Your in no shape to move anyway."
Our eyes kept locked as he let out another deep breath.
"What's the damage?" He then asked as he tried to look down at his body.
"Your head is cracked open like a melon for starters."
"I can tell thanks." He replied as I went on to say.
"Your leg there has a pretty nice hole in it too. Plus you got shrapnel all over your chest. Hopefully your armor stopped most of it though. Besides that your eye here is still opened up and you probably have internal bleeding if I had to guess. Just judging that off of the amount of bullet holes your armor already has."
"So I'm fine?" He asked with a small smile as I laughed and nodded my head.
"Yeah. Your fine. Old man."
Shutting his eyes to my response, I soon had to ask. There was no avoiding it. He had to have figured I'd ask at some point during all this.
"Raptor?"
"Hmmm?" He mumbled softly as I said.
"About what happened back at the capital. What you did to me. How you...?"
"Yeah I know." He said with a slight bit of sadness to his voice. Adjusting my spot from under him, I soon said.
"I was shot. In my neck. Raptor my fucking neck!" I shouted as he had his eyes shut listening to me.
Raptor's POV.
"I thought I was seeing the end of my life on that bathroom floor! I thought I was dead Raptor!" She stated with force as her arms were still wrapped around my body.
"I could barely breathe! All I could taste was blood Raptor! My blood! Then Raze came over and she started to cry! Then you came over and you...?" My eyes were shut, but I could hear her voice breaking apart. All of the sudden I felt her nose touch the top of my head. Soon to be the rest of her face dropped into me and she started to cry.
"I don't know what you did! I don't know what happened! I'm still not sure I'm even alive now! This all seems like it could be a dream!"
"Your not dreaming." I replied as she then questioned.
"What happened with your arm then?! Are you just going to tell me to not worry about it again!?"
"I tended to it." I replied with some pep as I suddenly heard her begin to laugh. Her tears started to fall onto my quills as she just held herself there.
"You tended to it!" She laughed as I went silent.
After collecting some of her strength, Zeta pulled her head off me. Gently she leaned me over her left side. This way I could see her completely from in between her legs.
"You are the only person I know that can be this much of an asshole in a situation like this Raptor Voltz!"
"I like to think of it as I'm trying to be funny in a bad situation."
Zeta just gave me a smile as I then added.
"Don't worry. Both Alicia and Julie thought the same thing. It's just a habit by now. One I can't break."
"Just be honest with me. Please Raptor." She begged as I looked away. Going silent, I waited as Zeta placed her hands back around me. This time they just rested at my chest as she dropped the blood covered gauze on my lap for me to see.
"Just prove to me that I'm not dreaming then." Her words came out at me like a knife. For some reason I felt a need to do something. I didn't know what. I only had one thing I could do. Which was trust her. Like it or not this was bound to happen.
"Okay." I replied as her eyes widened.
"I can't move my right arm. I just don't have the energy in me." I told her as I looked down at it.
"The wound I took was nearly enough to break my bone in two. You saw it yourself." I added as I tried to sit up more. Zeta allowed me to sit now between her legs. Are heads leveled out as I kept my eyes on my arm.
"Back at the capital I got shot twice in my shoulder. Look." I urged her as she moved in with her hands to pull my sleeve up. Her eyes saw the bullet holes.
"I can't move it Zeta." I informed her again as she just stared at me now.
"Even if I wanted to I can feel the bullets in there. Jammed in my collarbone I think. I don't fucking know."
"So what?" She wondered as I looked her back in her eyes.
"So I need you to trust me. Don't panic. Don't say a word. Just watch." I begged her as she looked to see me trying to move my left arm. Dragging it to my lap, I did my best to use what little energy I had to raise my hand up. Slowly grabbing my shoulder, I said softly.
"Just watch."
In that moment I felt at peace. Like my mind was relaxed. Maybe just having this time alone with this woman was setting me in the mood, but for some reason the toll I use to feel was diminished. Even if just slightly.
"Ahhhh!" I groaned as Zeta watched on in concern.
I had to bite my tongue, but in a matter of seconds I felt the bullets coming. As they reached the top of my skin, I cupped them in my hand and lowered down my arm. Zeta with wide eyes now saw that the wounds were gone. Dry blood mixed with some fresh covered where they once were, but I managed to seal them back. Letting out a deep breath, I reached with my left hand to grab Zeta's by the palm. Our fingers intertwined for no more then five seconds. After which, I gently slid my hand off leaving the broken bullets in her palm; covered in my blood.
"There." I told her as she was absolutely silent. Her eyes just stared at the chunks of metal as I looked away to take another breath and say with care.
"You're not dreaming."
Sending my right arm onto my lap, Zeta saw that I could now move it again. Resting both my hands in my lap, I shut my eyes and listened as she questioned.
"What are you?"
"You want the truth?" I asked her as I slowly turned my head back to face her. With eyes locked, I gave her a smile and said.
"I don't know."
Letting a thin chuckle leave my mouth, I soon coughed up some more blood. Zeta at which point shouted.
"Raptor!"
"I'm okay." I told her as I slumped back down onto her lap.
"I just need to sleep." I told her as she said with a much calmer tone.
"You saved me Raptor. From dying."
Nodding my head once extremely slowly, I replied.
"And you saved me. So let's call it even. Okay Wolfy?"
Leaning back into her view, I saw her smile one last time before shutting my eyes for good. If Marcus would allow me, I might be able to sleep. Cause she was right about one thing for sure. I wasn't going anywhere in this shape.
Zeta's POV.
"Raptor?" I said softly as he passed out in my arms one more time.
With his head resting on my chest, I looked down to my hands that held the bullets. I didn't know what to make of it. I knew now I wasn't dreaming. This really happened. But just what kind of man am I with right now in this god forsaken desert? I knew his name. Raptor Voltz. Leader to the rebellion. Father. Friend. But what else was he? I asked myself as I dropped the bullets onto the floor next to us.
Who was this man laying on me? Was he even a man? How much didn't I know or even understand about him? I don't even know his favorite color for fuck sakes. I thought to myself as I felt him breathing peacefully in my grasp.
I was feeling this. I was feeling him. I was feeling this moment. It was real. He was real. But what he did was fantasy just now. Something only gods can do. Something that would only be called simply a miracle to others. Was that him? A god? I asked as I leaned in to place my head back on top of his. With more tears leaving my eyes, I then had to wonder.
Or is he a demon? A god or a demon? Then I had to wonder if it even mattered this deep in. My heart didn't want to leave this man alone. He not only saved my life, but he's been sitting here just trying to get me to smile. No one has ever done that for me. Even in a war zone. Even covered in wounds that would kill any other normal man, he is still trying to make me happy. Maybe this is why people love him. Maybe this is why he has an army of followers who would gladly die for him and his beliefs. Or at the very least...maybe this is why his wives Julie and Alicia fell in love with him. Maybe cause they knew that even if this man was a demon, he would still do everything in his power to make them feel like they were the only angels in the world. The only source of light that he saw worth seeing. Even in the darkest of times.
With thunder clapping off like a drum, I began to shut my eyes. Shifting both my body and his to the side, I laid us down in the middle of the truck. Wrapping my arms around his chest, I focused on what was real. We were alive and right now that's all that mattered.
Just being alive.
