An: This was a one shot for JBlaser. Hopefully this is what you had in mind! Enjoy :)
It was a beautiful day in Ever After High. Many students were out and about in the square shops, getting their dresses needed for the Flower's Ball. It was a spring festivity everyone was looking forward to. It was the party of the year, accept the money was in short this year for supplies. Apple White as the Student President demanded they find a way to make the ball happen. No matter what.
She grabbed her friends Ashlynn Ella and Briar Beauty to help her. They agreed they needed to put on this ball. Together, they had all gotten jobs at a small salon towards the back of the square. They had never seen this place before. Normally, everyone went to Holy and Poppy O'Hair's salon for a cut, so they had never knew this one existed.
The boss was a stern lady named Helga. A tall, bulky, middle aged woman. She had hired them quickly in hopes that they were bring some life back to her store. The royals finally pushed up their sleeves and tied and apron around their dresses. "I have to say it girls," Apple said as she finished tying her apron. "This gold really looks good with my red skirt. Do you think I could wear this to the ball?"
"No," Ashlynn laughed. "Your dress is way better than that. And your shoes should be coming in today. They would not go with that outfit." The three laughed.
"Oh how I just love these dresses," Briar was looking at the racks of clothing. "Such beautiful floral prints."
"Speaking of the ball," Apple put her hands on her hips, "Who are you going with?"
"Oh," Ashlynn clapped her hands together and smiled. "Hunter is so excited to wear his new tux. I just can't wait to see what he looks like! How about you Apple?"
"Daring has a wonderful evening planned. It was a shame I had to turn down so many invitations though. I feel guilty." Apple shrugged.
"Daring and you are destined to be together, " Ashlynn smiled. "I'm sure everyone else will understand."
"Yeah," Apple nodded. Her voice suddenly turned sly. "Briar, how about you?" Briar looked up suddenly.
"Uh, no one," Briar went back to looking at the dresses.
"Really? I'm pretty sure I heard you talking to a certain Frog Prince last night outside our dorm room," Ashlynn narrowed her eyes.
"Hopper?" Briar played dumb. "No way would I ever- I. Just no." Apple and Ashlyn giggled as Briar blushed. The door's bell suddenly chimed. The three rose to their feet to see the new customer.
"Welcome to the Salon!" Apple smiled brightly. An older woman stood there dazed and confused.
"Salon? I this was the bakery, sorry." She turned and went back out the door. The girl's shoulders dropped along with their smiles.
"Hey!" Helga came to the store front. "Did you just loose a customer?"
"Well, no. She though-" Apple tried to explain.
"If you guys loose another customer you're fired!" Helga yelled before going back into the storage room.
"Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the story," Ashlynn shook her head. "What are we going to do? We'll never earn enough money to for the ball this weekend."
Suddenly, the door's bell rang again. Apple turned to see a girl in a orange turtle neck sweater with matching knee high socks. Her skirt and shoes were a match burgundy, her hair was cut into a bob with bangs that rose just about her square glasses. Apple bit her tongue to prevent her from screaming. This look would not do. It look so out dated.
"Hello," the girls voice was lower than Apple expected. " 'm Velma and I was wondering if you coul-"
"Fix that look?" Briar raised an eyebrow.
"Lady's I think we have a customer!" Ashlynn cheered.
"Wait what but I don-" Velma tried to get a word in.
"Let's get to work!" Apple took Velma by the arm and sat her down in the chair.
"I'll get working on an outfit right away!" Briar looked through the racks of clothes. The door's bell rang again.
"How are you guys doing? Oh my goodness!" Holly O'Hair shrieked. "Honey, we have to do something with that hair."
"But I-" Velma was cut off again.
"Shh," Apple put her hands on her shoulders. "You are going to look fabulous when we're done with you." So the girl's had began. If Velma had tried to say anything she was easily cut off by the girls.
Holly did her hair first. "Oh my" she said as she played with Velma's hair a little. "I don't think you've ever had hair past your shoulders have you?"
"Uh," Velma was expecting to get interrupted. "No actually."
"I better get some extensions," Holly shook her head a little and ran off into the back room.
"Then I might as well work on makeup," Apple handed Velma a wash wipe for her face. "First, we better take these off. I have glasses too, but I never wear them." She took Velma's glasses before she could say anything. The daughter of Snow White then began putting on some blush on Velma's freckled cheeks. She then applied some mascara and eyes liner. She finished the eyes with a light purple eye shadow.
"You always want to draw attention to the lips," Apple said as she put red lipstick onto Velma. "For the boys." She giggled a little before Holly came back from the store room.
"Oh Apple she looks so pretty! It'll look even better with the hair!" Holly got to work. Velma couldn't see a thing so she had no clue what was happening. There was a lot of yanks and pulls in which Velma bit her tongue. Apple continued to work on her nails. Apple enjoyed painting them bright red, she thought they looked good with Velma's pale skin tone.
Once, Velma's hair was done, she was practically thrown into a changing room. She held her hands out helplessly and tried her best to get her new outfit on, but when she first came out, Briar went in and helped get into the dress right. Everything fit so tight, she preferred her sweater. The last thing was the shoes. Ashlynn had gone back to her store and picked out a pair of shoes. From what Velma could feel they were high heels.
"Wow!" Apple exclaimed. "You look great!"
"Where are my glasses?" Velma asked.
"Here," Apple handed them to her. Velma put them on her face. She looked at herself in the mirror and gasped. She didn't even look like herself anymore. Her brown hair was extended down to her elbows. Strands of gold highlights bounced off the light. It was thick and wavy, a lot like Daphne's hair. She hardly recognized her face with all the eyes makeup. They were lined so dark compared to before. The red lips stuck out the most.
Her outfit clung to every curve of her body. She was wearing a bright red sleeved dress. The fabric coiled on her shoulder to make a rose shape. There were small pink flowers here and there on the fabric. Her orange knee high stocking were now black with the same pink rose print. To top everything off, red stilettoes heals with diamonds on the straps.
Velma opened her mouth to say something, but was cut off again. "Now for the fun part! Accessories!" Briar exclaimed. The girl's each had their own accessory to add. Briar pushed red round sunglasses up to push back her new hair and topped it off with a crown. Apple put gold heart earrings in, Ashlynn pinned ruby pendant onto her dress, and Holly put a black bag with diamonds on her shoulder.
"Now you're ready to go," Apple smiled brightly.
"I was already ready to go," Velma looked around. "I was just coming in here to ask for directions, not a makeover?" There was silence from all the girls.
"We thought you were a customer," Briar explained.
"We're raising money for a dance at school," Apple added.
"Our boss said if we don't get a customer we would be fire. Then we would have no money." Ashlynn said quietly. The four girls looked down in shame.
"We're sorry." Holly added.
Velma looked at herself. She felt bad for the girls. "Well you did do a great job." She pulled out her wallet and paid them. They cheered in delight. "I hope you have fun at your dance."
"Thank you so much!" Apple hugged Velma. "Please suggest!"
"I will," Velma laughed a little before she left. She felt all eyes on her, but she didn't care. She helped out those girls today, and that's what mattered. The heard some whispers from a group of girls headed into the salon. Velma smiled and went to look for the gang.
Fred and Daphne were sitting at a table with drinks while Shaggy and Scooby were eating a four course meal. When Velma walked up, they all turned their eyes to her. Daphne gasped. Velma only held up a finger before saying, "Don't say anything." She then went into the Mystery Machine without saying another word. Daphne exchanged looks with Fred.
"Like," Shaggy looked from the van to Scooby. "Who was that?" Scooby shrugged and they continued eating.
