Chapter 3

Leo didn't know why he went to April's, but that's where he ended up. He knocked on the window and April let him in.

"Hey, Leo. What's up?" April asked. Leo just stood there with his head down, a shadow over his eyes. "Leo? Leo, what's wrong?"

When Leo's shoulders started shaking April said, "Leo, are the guys and Splinter okay?" Leo nodded his head, but at hearing his Sensei's name his shoulders start shaking harder.

"Leo, what's wrong? What is it?" April asked, putting her hands on Leo's shoulders trying to look him in the eyes.

"Splinter's an old fool dat's what's wrong!" Raph said climbing through the window.

"Raph, Wha-" April stopped when Raph took her place in front of Leo.

"He said I was too weak to be the leader. Why didn't he tell me sooner? Why now after I find out I'm a..." Leo asked but couldn't finish.

"Leo, yuh are strong enough tuh be our leader. Yuh have always been strong enough. He's just an old fool!" Raph said.

"But-" Leo said, but Raph cut him off.

"Leo! Yuh are my leader! I won't follow anyone else and I won't be de leader!" said Raph. He sees that Leo is crying harder and he sighs. He wraps Leo up in a hug. Leo doesn't even fight Raph, needing comfort too bad.

"Raph's right, Leo. You are our leader. We won't follow anyone else." Don said as he climbed through the window follewed by Mikey.

"Yeah, Dude...ette. And we kind of let Splinter have it." said Mikey rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.

Raph sat on the floor holding Leo waiting for him to stop crying. "Donny? Why can't he stop crying?" asked Raph.

Don sighed and said, "Raph, her hormones are probably out of whack. She'll probably be off for a while."

Leo whimpered and they looked down at him. Raph was about to say something to Leo when Don yelled, "SHIT!!"

Raph's head snapped up and he said, "What?!"

"Leo is bleeding again." said Don kneeling down and feeling Leo's forehead for a fever and finding none.

"Leo do yuh have cramps again?" asked Raph.

Leo whispered, "Hurts."

"What do we do Don? It's only been a week. He can't go through dis every week" asked Raph.

"I think it will be every month. Could even be less than that. It should even out." said Don.

Leo whimpered again and Raph rubbed his shell and said, "Easy, Leo. It'll be okay."

"April, what do women do to help make their cramps go away?" asked Don.

"A hot bath sometimes helps. Heating pads help too." said April.

"Don, what are yuh thinking?" asked Raph.

"I'm thinking maybe we can stop it. Maybe stress caused it to start early." said Don.

"That can happen to women if they're overly stressed." said April.

"I'll go start the bathwater!" said Mikey running off.

"Come on, Leo. Let's get yuh tuh the bathtub." said Raph as he picked up Leo and carried him to the bathroom.

"Donny, I don't think it's working." said Raph who was squatted down by the tub as Leo gasped pain every few minutes.

"It's only been a week. She could have torn something on the way over here." said Don watching Leo who was in obvious pain.

"Den will dis help?" asked Raph, pointing to the tub.

"No, not really. Shouldn't hurt, but it probably won't help. Let's get her out." said Don. "We need to get her back to the lair."

"What happened?" asked Splinter when the guys came in with Raph carrying Leo.

"Leo hurt himself aftuh yuh upset him!" yelled Raph as he rushed into the lab with Leo. Donny right behind him.

Splinter went to follow them into the lab, but Mikey stopped him. "Um, sorry Master Splinter, but I think seeing you would only upset her more." and he shut the door. Splinters ears went down and he walked to his room.

Mikey turned around and saw that Raph and Donny were staring at him. "What?" he said.

"Mikey! You just shut the door in Splinter's face!" said Don looking shocked.

Rubbing the back of his neck Mikey said, "I know, but I didn't think it'd be good for Leo."

After laying Leo on the exam table Raph said, "Good one, Mike!" giving Mikey a high three.

"Mikey will you get me a pot of hot water? Get it to a rolling boil and bring it to me after it's stopped boiling." said Donny trying to keep Mikey busy.

"On it!" said Mikey as he ran out the lab.

"Raph, I need you to keep Leo calm as I examine her." said Donny as he gets ready to examine Leo.

Raph goes to stand by Leo as Donny starts examining Leo. Leo starts squirming as Donny starts to examine him as it is extremely uncomfortable. Raph grabs Leo's hand and says "It's okay Leo. Just hold still while Donny examines yuh." Leo nods and tries to hold still.

Donny looks up and says to Leo, "Leo you've got a tear that's gotten bigger it won't stop bleeding unless I stitch it up." Leo's eyes are closed and he nods his head and squeezes Raph's hand not looking forward to getting stitches in that sensitive area.

Raph looks down at Leo in concern. Leo's eyes are tightly shut and he grimaces in pain as Donny starts stitching. As he clenches his body in pain from the stitches his stomach hurts worse and he whimpers in pain. Raph squeezes Leo's hand and says "Easy Bro it won't take long for Donny tuh finish."

5 minutes later Donny finishes and walks up on the other side of Leo and says "Okay, Leo, I need you to describe the pain in your stomach for me. What does it feel like?"

"Hurts." said Leo weakly.

"I know it hurts. But I need more detail. Describe how it feels for me." said Donny as he a laid a comforting hand on Leo's shoulder.

Leo's forehead creased as he tried to think through the pain. "Burns" he whispered.

"Good. So it's not coming and going it's just a steady burning?" asked Donny.

"Just burns" said Leo exhausted from the pain.

"Good Leo, that's actually good. I believe you just damaged muscles in your pelvis from all the cramps and pushing out the egg. Running tonight probably made it much worse. I want you to stay on bed rest for at least a week." said Donny smiling.

"Okay" said Leo barely conscious from the pain.

"I'm going to give you a muscle relaxer and some pain medicine. You should start feeling better soon." said Donny filling a syringe with medicine.

"Thanks Don." said Leo weakly. Don gave Leo the pain medicine and Leo knew no more for several hours.

Authors note:

I've been stuck on this chapter. I'm not quite happy with it, but I don't know what else to do with it. So I decide just to go ahead and post it.

I don't know how accurate all this medical stuff is. I just know when my womanhood first started my emotions were all over the place and my whole pelvis area was in horrible pain. So I imagine with what Leo went through he would be in much more pain.
