"Good," Ozpin said as he motioned Qrow to close the door, "I'm glad that we both will see this conversation as mutually beneficial. Why don't we start with introductions. My name is Ozpin, the head master here at Beacon Academy." For a brief moment, there was silence and Qrow was about to say something when the silence was finally broken. "Beacon," Sonic said as he looked around the room, "now where have heard that be-" he himself cut off as he looked at Ruby and said "Wait a minute, didn't you mention that you were trained at places like this?" Ruby nodded and answered "Yep! Hunters and huntresses are trained at schools like this one! Of course, there are three others like this one, but here, Beacon, is where me, my sister, and my friends come to train." Ozpin stood up and and walked over to the window behind him. "Before we carry this conversation on, we need your name." Sonic looked around the room before he finally spoke. "Oh, yeah, how rude of me not to introduce myself," Sonic said as he brushed his top quills, "my name is Sonic."
"You see, Sonic," Ozpin said, making it clear he was talking to Sonic, "Remnant is under the constant threat of attacks by the grimm. I'm sure you've seen one before, right?" Sonic simply nodded. "Yeah, in fact, I didn't just see one I -" Sonic was cut off as Ozpin finished what Sonic was going to say "You actually fought one. Indeed, I saw that you did." Sonic eyes darted around the room. 'How did he know that? What, I suppose there are cameras all over the place and this guy just sits here and watches the monitors all -" Sonic's thoughts were cut off when Ozpin spoke again. "I can tell you're thinking about how I knew about your fight with the grimm. I was there. I witnessed first hand what you are capable of. You see, it usually takes a team of 4 or sometimes more hunters and huntresses to take a grimm down; however, you did it single handed. but that's not the only thing I noted."
'Oh, there's more that you made note of?!' Sonic thought to himself as Ozpin continued to talk. "You see," Ozpin said as he sat back down and looked directly at Sonic, "Not only did I note you did something single handedly, you also somehow managed to move faster than anyone or anything here in Remnant. Not only that, I noted that you were also able harness the power of fire and electricity. How did you do it? How are you able to move so fast?" Sonic looked and said "Well, back where I'm from…" Ozpin stopped Sonic before he said anything further and asked "Wait, before you go any further, where exactly are you from?" Sonic looked at Ozpin and said "Well, I'm from… uh… I don't know how to answer that. My world doesn't exactly have a name. What I can tell you though is that I have home in South Island, which is located in Apotos." Ruby looked at Sonic confused and just had to ask "How come your world doesn't have a name?" Sonic looked at Ruby and answered "Well… that's because has *two* names it goes by and I'm not sure which one is the right one. See, one name we all call it is 'earth' but the other name it goes by is 'Mobius.' I've heard both used in my world but it was never clear which one was the right one."
Ozpin adjusted his glasses and said "Fascinating. Now… about those powers. How are you able to harness such powers of fire and electricity?" Sonic put the emblems on the desk when Ozpin noted that there was an emblem in the shape of a drop of water and an emblem that was a simple blue circle. Sonic picked up the fire emblem and said "Each emblem gives me a shield. All I have to do is hold the emblem of my choice in my fist and I get the shield. There are 4 in all. The pain blue circle is the base shield. Standard one hit protection. The water emblem actually gives me a bubble shield which is useful for bouncing and *really* useful for being underwater. The fire emblem and lightning emblems are self explanatory." Ozpin picked up the fire emblem and examined it in curiosity. "So… are you the only one who can harness the power of these emblems?'
Shaking his head, Sonic replied with "Nope. My best friend tails can use them too. I know Knuckles can use them as well… I'm not sure about Amy… speaking of that, how did I get here… you know, as in how did I wind up here in Beacon?" Ozpin looked at Sonic and simply shrugged before Ruby spoke up. "Well, long story short, my team and I found lying in a field and we brought you here. I think the better question is how di-" Ruby cut herself off before she finished as Qrow reached for his something in his pocket. Was it a knife? Nah, it was just the flask that contained his whiskey. Ozpin looked at Ruby and motioned her to go ahead and finish what she was going to say and Ruby said "How did you find Remnant exactly?" Sonic looked over at Ruby and said "If I knew, I'd tell you. All I remember is before I got here I was fighting Dr. Robotnik and…" his voice trailed off as he closed his eyes. He was having a flashback to what happened.
He had kept himself off the ground yelling something at Dr. Robotnik as he was in his Super Sonic form. Without warning, he was dragged out of the sky and stripped of his Super Sonic powers. Suddenly robots came in and fired at the capsule Sonic was trapped inside. Was Robotnik trying to jettison Sonic into space? Well, it wouldn't matter because without warning everything was gone in the flash of a bright light and… he opened his eyes wide and exclaimed as he had the sudden realization "Dr. Robotnik induced a chaos control riff!" Everyone looked at Sonic like he was talking crazy. Chaos control? Such a thing doesn't exist here in Remnant. It was only when Sonic realized how he got here when the worst of his fears hit him, and that was assuming Robotnik wasn't warped to Remnant as we : "He's got all 7 chaos emeralds! Which means he's taking over my world right now!" Ruby looked him and said "Sonic, calm down. Let's take this one step at a time." Ozpin nodded and said "Ruby's right. panicking will get you nowhere. First off, since we have more questions than answers, what is a chaos emerald?"
Yang and Wiess were walking down the halls when they got to Ozpin's chambers. Ruby opened the door quietly and let them both in before quietly shutting it. Sonic, unaware of Yang and Weiss' presence, said "A chaos emerald is a gem of mystical powers. Once the user has all 7 emeralds in their possession, they have access to ultimate power which can be used for good or evil. The emeralds can power machines, control time and space, and can even grant the user a super form." Ruby looked at Ozpin and said "Is it possible to create these emeralds?" Ozpin shook his head. "I'm afraid not, Ruby. There is no way of knowing the exact properties of the emerald with seeing one first hand. And like Sonic said, this robotic character he speaks of has all 7 emeralds which were left behind in his world. So our only chance is to try to create our own riff that will allow Sonic to travel through space and back to his home." "Wait a minute," Yang said as she leaned against the wall, "Who's Sonic? Nobody in Remnant has that name." Sonic looked over from the left side of the chair and stared at Yang. "Uh, yeah, hi. I'm Sonic. And you are?"
"Oh, my name is Yang! Yang Xao Long!" Yang said with a cocky grin on her face. 'She honestly reminds me of myself,' Sonic thought to himself as he gave Yang a peace sign. "Okay, nice to meet you, but I didn't know your full name, Yang." Wiess stepped forward and looked over Sonic before flinging her sword at Sonic's throat. "Alright," Wiess said as Sonic looked at the sword with panic in his eyes, "you have 5 seconds to tell us what you are before slice your th-" without warning Wiess watched Blake's whip wrap around her sword and rip it out of her hand in one fell swoop. "That's enough, Wiess," Blake said as Wiess yelped and cowered in fear, "We're not going to get answers by threatening the alien!" Sonic took high offense to being called an "alien," and he made it clear about that as his eyes darted over to Blake. "Excuse me? Who are you calling an alien? I'm not an alien, I'm a hedgehog!" Blake walked over to Sonic and did a double look before saying to Sonic "Huh. I never would've guessed. So how come your blue?"
Sonic shrugged and said "Well, the short answer is that a lab incident happened. Dr. Kintobor had one of his experiments go wrong and I was caught in the splash zone. Anyway, I turned blue and Kintobor and I found out that I was able to go fast. So the good Doc gave me socks and made me a nice pair of shoes, the exact shoes I wear. And then the week after that, Dr. Robotnik showed up, kidnapped Kintobor and I never saw the good Doc again." Blake sat next to Sonic and said "I'm sorry you lost a friend like that." Sonic said, "Eh, Dr. Kintobor can take care of himself. He's smart. But trust me, Dr. Robotnik has done WORSE things than that." Ozpin was listening to what Sonic was saying "Well, I see that we are getting answers. Rather surprising answers that I wasn't sure we'd get." Qrow looked as Ozpin and replied with "I'll say. From what he's told us, it's not going to be easy to get him back to his home." That was the last thing Sonic wanted to hear, especially since he said Robotnik had all 7 chaos emeralds AND he was going to use them to take over his world.
"Well, since it seems like you're gonna be here for a while..." Blake trailed off when she finally realized just how impolite she was asking Sonic questions and having a conversation with him and not really greet herself "My apologies for introducing myself. You said your name was uh... Sonic, right?" Sonic looked at Blake and nodded. Blake smiled. "It's nice to meet you," she said as she shook his hand, "my name is Blake." Sonic shook her hand and looked at her "Yeah, nice to meet you too, Blake." Wither it was her calm demeanor or the fact she was the only one who jumped to his defense, he'll never know, but Sonic actually took a hint of a liking to Blake. It was almost as if they were friends before they even met. 'Well, that's rather unusual," Blake thought to herself as Sonic actually kept his cool around her, 'it's almost as if he actually trusts me even though we just met.'
Weiss rolled her eyes, clearly not amused and maybe a little uncomfortable with the way Blake was being all friendly with Sonic. "Alright... that's enough of that, lover girl." Blake looked at Yang and then at Wiess? "Who? Me? In love with Sonic? Please, I just met the guy! Not to mention, he's a hedgehog!" Ruby looked at Blake and then at Wiess and thought to herself 'Well, that comment you made came from way out of left field, Wiess.' Ozpin stood up and said "Well, I think that takes care of most of what I want to know for now. Sonic, I'm placing you under the protection of Team RWBY until further notice." Sonic got up and said "Thanks for the offer, but no thanks. I can take care of myself." Qrow rolled his eyes "Sounds way too much like Yang," he muttered to himself as he took a sip of his whiskey. "Uh, hey, listen, why don't you girls go do something, I have things to talk about with Ozpin." Sonic was unsure if he should split with Team RWBY or if he should stick around and find out what Qrow and Ozpin were gonna talk about until Blake, who made sure the other three weren't looking, took Sonic's hand in a friendly manner and escorted him out of the room. She wasn't sure if Sonic would trust the other 3, but she knew Sonic would trust her. It was probably a gut feeling that was having. 'Yang and Ruby will come around eventually, but I think it'll take a lot to convince Weiss that Sonic can be trusted.'
After everyone walked out of the room to let Qrow and Ozpin talk, Sonic looked at Ruby and Weiss. "I've already met Blake and Yang. And that leaves you two." Weiss, rolled her eyes and said in a rather annoyed tone "My name is Weiss. And don't get comfortable around me. I have a sword and I can end you in two ways with my sword." Sonic just looked at her and said "Noted." After they started walking down the hall, Sonic walked along side Ruby and asked her "Is Weiss always like that?" Ruby nodded and said "Well, she's like that when you first meet her, but she softens up after awhile. Oh, by the way, my name is Ruby. It's nice to meet you, Sonic." Sonic nodded and said "And it's nice to meet you too, Ruby." Yang looked at Ruby and said "So... are we on protection duty, or are we just going about our business as we normally do? That was a good question and Ruby didn't exactly have an answer.
As Team RWBY and Sonic walked down the hall, team JNPR came running up to greet the others. Once Nora saw Sonic, she hugged him. "Oh, you poor thing," Nora said as she grabbed Sonic and squeezed him, "I am SO SORRY I whacked you with my hammer!" Okay, NOW Sonic was convinced it was Amy... only she was acting way differently. She was acting like her old-self. The one that chased him around trying to marry him. He was getting flash backs to Little Planet back in 1993 when he first met Amy and then Station Square where he ran into her again in 1998. "GACK! Amy... can't breath... squeezing too tight..." Nora let go and Sonic fell to the floor trying to catch his breath as Nora looked at Sonic confused. "Uhhhh... who's Amy?" she asked as Team RWBY shrugged. Sonic got up and looked at Nora. "Ugh, finally I can breath and... hey, wait a minute," Sonic trailed off and he finally looked at Nora, "You're not Amy."
"Nope," Nora smiled as she leaned against her hammer, "my name is Nora!" Ren rolled his eyes, clearly un-amused with Nora. "Ugh, Nora... why are you being nice to... this alien?" Nora looked over at Ren and tilted her head in confusion while Sonic glared at Ren. "Well... I WAS the one who sent the poor thing flying into the sky with my hammer... and then I hit it again." Sonic put his hand on his forehead. "Oh, so that was YOU who hit me with the hammer," he asked as he pointed at Nora, "and for a moment, I could've sworn that Amy got warped here as well!" Ren stood between Sonic and Nora. "Okay, before this goes on any further," he said as he looked at Nora and then Sonic, "I think we need an explanation of what is going on." Sonic said to Ren, "Well, I can tell you what's going on over on my side, but it is a long story that will require a massive block of time, which I don't have a lot of because I gotta get back home before it's too late." That caught Pyrrah's attention. "Well, since you're here, you might as well tell us what's going on." Sonic really didn't want to explain this to people he didn't know, but did he have a choice? After all, Team RWBY trusted them, so what was preventing Sonic from trusting them. "Alright," Sonic said as he walked over to Phyrra and looked her in the eyes, "we can talk. but I don't trust being in this halls..." Ruby grabbed Sonic's arm and said "then we can talk in my room, let's go!" and with that, she bolted off to Team RWBY's room with Team JNPR right behind them.
Quinn had finally come to her senses as she was waking up. Once she gathered herself together, she looked around. Writing was everywhere on the walls and they were behind bars. Quinn was the first to wake up when she saw the metal hedgehog. "Who are you?!" Quinn snapped as she ran up to the bars of the cell. Metal only looked at her, not liking her tone of voice. So he picked her up and threw her to the wall so hard the thud woke Ally up quickly.
It didn't take her long to recognize their captor. "Metal Sonic. I should've known..." she said with a snarl as she got up and Metal looked at her. "Alright, tin head! You got 10 seconds to tell us where we are before I bust out of these bars and turn you into scrap metal!" Metal didn't like the tone Ally had either, and so he gave her no response. "Alright," Ally said she wound up for a run, "you asked for it!" after she said that, she burst into a run trying to bust the bars down but right as she went to bust the bars down, Metal Sonic swatted her away and she slid across the ground on her back. Ally and Quinn both sat up as Metal spoke "Welcome to Prison Island." he said to his prisoners, " I can only assume you all where idiots when you thought Empire City was the continent you live in. Also, Prison Island in Adabat? What a joke. Clearly you didn't learn your geography. Oh wait, you fell right for the bait that was planted by Dr. Robotnik. Mystic Ruins, Station Square, Westopolis, Empire City, here... all of it is part of the United Federation." Ally and Quinn looked at Metal with blank, dumbfounded stares. How did they not catch on that they never left the United Federation?
