-recap-
Energy from the Tesseract had been climbing for almost a half-hour now. Dr. Selvig and the rest of the scientists had been working diligently to control it or shut it off, to no prevail. Finally, Dr. Selvig realizes that the work is getting him nowhere and he calls a complete evacuation of the facility. Almost everyone had begun working on packing away important essentials and getting the heck away from the base. Barton had kept Hannah in the room of the Tesseract to keep an eye on her, per Coulson's request. If Coulson wasn't going to be able to keep an eye on her, Barton was next in line. He was basically an uncle to her and would risk his life to save her.
"Should I be… worried about the tesseract." I ask Clint.
"Nah, that's the scientists' job. Don't worry about that; worry about not falling on your butt."
"Wait… why?"
"Because… tonight I am teaching you to climb a rope. Now, come over here and I'm going to guide you through it."
He leads me over to a corner where a rope is hanging from the ceiling. I look up and see that there is a miniature loft at the top of the rope. It's covered with yellow rails on every side, except where the rope hangs from. There, it's an opening to climb onto it. Clint grabs the rope between his hand and begins giving instructions, "first you're going to want to jump up, with your arms extended. then, you're going to want to grab onto the piece of rope directly in front of you and, as quickly as you can, wrap the rope around your right leg. After that, you're going to want to use your left leg to pick up the remaining rope and trap it against your right leg. Now, just use your upper body strength to pull yourself up, and keep doing what I told you to climb up. Like so…" he jumps upwards and grabs the rope, demonstrating what he just explained.
He quickly scales the rope like a spider climbing a line to its web. When he reaches the top, he sits at the edge of the loft, dangling his feet over and beckoning me up. I take a deep breath before jumping up and slowly scaling the rope. When I get to the top, I reach up to grab onto the bars, but end up missing and nearly falling down. However, Clint grabs me by the arm at the last minute and drags me onto the platform. I lay there for a second, trying to catch my breath before sitting up and joining Clint in sliding my legs through the bars facing the rest of the room and peering through the bars.
He chuckles when I copy is position and I can't help but laugh as well, despite almost just dieing. We sit there in silence for a while, watching the chaotic events unfold below us. I had assumed that Coulson would get me within the next hour or so, but after two hours have gone by he still ceases to make an appearance. Finally, I give up and tell Clint to wake me if anything important happened or if my life is in danger. He laughs as I scoot over to the corner that's completely surrounded by metal bars and lean against it. Within moments, I've fallen asleep; completely oblivious to the danger happening below.
