I'm roughly awakened from my slumber by Fury's voice, over Clint's walkie, "Agent Barton report."
He turns to me, expecting to have to wake me up, but sees that I'm fully conscious and gives me a slight nod before sliding down the rope and walking over to Fury. I let my feet dangle and swing off of the platform as I watch Barton and Director Fury walk over to the tesseract and have some sort of conversation about it. Something's gone wrong, obviously, and the charts that Dr. Selvig has on the computer screen look pretty dangerous.
Then, light starts exploding from the tesseract. The energy crackles and dances around the room, expanding by every second. That's when the ground starts to rumble and energy starts swirling away from the tesseract like a mini-tornado. It shoots through one of Dr. Selvig's contraptions and across the room forming a large circle of blue energy. I feel the room tense as the energy builds up and, finally, explodes sending blue energy cousins through the room.
Everyone ducks and shields their faces as the energy flows through the room. It runs out of full potency when it reaches me, but it's enough to make me shudder as it flows over my body.
The energy flows up to the ceiling, twisting there with a mind of its own. Someone now replaces the energy on the platform, engulfed in blue flames. Slowly, the flames disappear to reveal a man standing on the platform. He slowly looks up, showing more of his face. After a moment, everyone in the room is still tense and unsure of what's happening. I silently make my way over to the rope and slide down it, making sure that no one's watching me. After hitting the floor as silently as possible, I grab a dagger, that had been concealed under my belt, before crouching behind a desk and waiting for what happens next.
"Sir, please put down the spear," Fury calls out, breaking the silence.
The man looks down at the weapon in his hands as if discovering it for the first time. He then looks back up at the men around the room and shoots a bolt of energy at Fury. Barton, who had been standing next to Fury, grabs him and pushes him to the ground before he gets shot. The guards around the room instantly start shooting at the man. He looks at them like they are pesky flies in his face and jumps off the platform towards them. He pints two of them to the ground with his spear and shoots the other two with many darts. Then, he shoots one of the scientists at a computer.
One of the guards behind him manages to stand up, but Loki hits him in the face, rendering him unconscious. Barton and the five guards around him start shooting at the man. He turns around and shoots another blast of energy at them, disintegrating one of the guards on impact. The others dive to the side to avoid it. A second guard comes up behind the man and attempts to attack him with a dagger. The man senses it, somehow, and kicks him against a wall; knocking him unconscious as well.
Finally, no more attacks come. The man stands there, looking around the room in awe of the destruction he has caused. When his eyes dart over where I'm hiding, I sink to the ground. My heart beats as I wait for the sound of an energy blast to come in my direction. However, after a moment, nothing comes and I resume peering over the desk. His eyes have long passed over my position. Instead, he's turned his attention to Barton, who has already recovered from the damage. He turns around, hands on his gun holster to continue shooting, but is quickly intercepted by the man in green. He grabs Barton's arm and holds it to the side, so Barton can no longer move without getting his arm broken. He looks Barton in the eye, "You have heart…"
I flinch, expecting him to attack Barton, but instead, he holds the spear to Barton's chest. Barton groans and his head falls down slightly. I watch as blue light spreads through his veins and turns his eyes completely black for a second before returning to normal. The man in green looks at Barton and takes a step back with a chuckle. He pulls the spear back and Barton returns the gun to its holster. I look back to Fury who is watching the event in astonishment. He turns to the holding chamber for the tesseract and takes it out of its place; putting it in a small briefcase by his feet. I silently cheer him on as he closes it and stands up to escape with it.
Meanwhile, the man in green, who had been turning more people, says, "please don't. I still need that.
