Chapter 5

Raelle woke with a jolt in the morning and groaned softly as she blinked from the blindness of the light in the room. Abigail usually turned on the light when it was forty-five minutes until training. Raelle let out a small groan as she rolled out of bed. She made up her bed, making sure it would pass inspection. She pulled on her pants and grabbed her boots, looking up at Tally, who was still in the room. Tally had a bright smile on her face as she was ready to go, her bright red hair was already in a ponytail. Raelle rolled her eyes as she pulled on her boots, "Why are you always so happy this early in the morning?" She asked as she stood up and pulled on her uniform top and started to button it and grabbed her scourge.

Tally shrugged as she bounced a little and waited for Raelle, Abigail had already gone to breakfast. "I don't know Raelle. Why are you always so gloomy?" She smiled brightly as the two girls left their room, turning off the light, and heading down to the mess hall.

"I'm not gloomy Tal, it's 4:30 in the morning." She took a small pause as they walked in the mess hall and Raelle went straight to the coffee station, "I didn't sleep well." She let out a small sigh, grabbing a cup of coffee and a bowl of cereal. Raelle wasn't much of a breakfast person. She moved over to the table where Abigail was already sitting with a coffee and a muffin. Raelle sat across from Abigail and Tally sat next to her with her tea and a few pastries.

Raelle sipped her coffee and ate her cereal in silence, she was never much of a morning person. They sat in silence for the next twenty minutes, the only noise between the three of them was the chewing and gulping. Abigail was the first to get up as she looked up at the time, "Ten minutes ladies." Raelle looked up as Abigail went to put her dishes in the bin. Raelle downed the rest of her coffee and got up, putting the cup into bin as well. Tally ran up after them and wrapped her arm around Raelle, "You ready for this ladies? First day of War College!"

Raelle rolled her eyes at Tally's excitement to War College. Raelle was still tired, but she promised Abigail once they had reached War College, she would do better and make sure to attend training, every minute of it.

The Bellwether unit headed down to the field; Tally pulled away from Raelle as they reached the training field. The drill sergeant stood at the beginning of the obstacle course. She had dark black hair that was pulled into a tight bun. She stood at attention, with her arms behind her back. The drill sergeant didn't speak until all the girls were lined up in front of her, "Welcome to War College cadets! We will start every more for the next month on the obstacle, then break for lunch and spend the afternoon in the classroom and do seed and scourge training."

The Bellwether unit stood close together as they listened to the drill sergeant address the group and Raelle groaned softly, which only received a side look from Abigail. Raelle looked at Abigail as a whistle was sounded throughout the crowd and everyone started on the obstacle course. Just as they started going through it, it started pouring, big droplets of water hit the girls in the Bellwether unit.
