Chapter Thirty-two

"What happened?" Iemitsu asked as he neared Reborn and Tsuna. "How did Tsuna become like this?"

"Dunno." The hitman answered while Tsuna giggled as he hugged the man tighter.

"Tsu-kun likes Reborn-nii!" Tsuna exclaimed before beaming at Iemitsu. "Tou-san! Hi!"

"H-Hi." Iemitsu stuttered in pure shock.

Tsuna looked at the others and smiled. "Hi! I'm Tsu-kun!"

"Hi Tsu-chan!" Byakuran greeted as he walked towards them. "I'm Byakkun!"

"I'm Yuni!" Yuni introduced.

Reborn brought him down. "Play with them."

"I don't know how to play." Tsuna whispered.

"You'll do well."

"But Tsu-kun will eat with you, right?"

Reborn gave a small smile. "Yes."

The adults watched as Tsuna went with Byakuran and Yuni to Enma, Dino, Aria and Xanxus. They watched the brunet squeal in delight when Xanxus started to chase him. Even though there's the usual almost knitting brows, the wrath has the corners of his lips quirked upwards, fairly like a smile.

The dining hall became noisy with children's shouts and laughter. Even the adults went to greet the little Tsuna. Basil even went to play. But the other guardians were asked to stand by since Tsuna frowned at them.

As the maids and butlers started to serve the meals, Tsuna went to Reborn. The hitman had no choice but to sit on the Decimo's chair with the little brunet in his laps. Tsuna started to babble a lot of things that happened to him everyday. Iemitsu was entranced to his son's happy face as the latter talked to the very agreeable hitman.

They started to eat with gusto while watching Reborn feed the little bundle of sunshine that wants to feed him too. To their surprise, the hitman didn't complain and complied to the child's wishes. Every once in a while, the little boss will address someone if he's okay, or does he like the food, or did he eat enough vegetable or drink water. Most answered honestly, knowing the kid has hyper intuition. When his supposed guardians were addressed, they were reluctant to answer, especially they're the ones being directed to the childish beam of the Sky.

"Ah! Curly-nii-chan!" Tsuna shouted as he waved a hand on the teen who was serving some water. "Here! Here! Tsu-kun is here!"

"Yes. Yes." The teen smiled as he refilled their glasses. "Had fun?"

"Yes! Reborn-nii is very nice!" Tsuna answered.

Aria laughed while the hitman could only huff.

"Neh... Did Curly-nii-chan see G-nii?"

The table became silent.

"He should be already here- Ah! G-nii!" Tsuna exclaimed excitedly as he gazed at the man with a newsboy hat peering from the door. "G-nii!"

"Gabriel." Curly called in Italian. "The Decimo wants your presence."

Gabriel went in and removed his hat, placed it on his chest and bowed. "Yes, Decimo?"

"Eh? Reborn-nii, what did G-nii say?"

"He asked what do you need." Reborn easily translated, eyeing Gabriel with amusement.

"Eh? Nothing! Tsu-kun just want to see G-nii! What happened? Did Giotto-nii dyed your hair again?"

Gabriel chuckled before standing up and walking towards the little boy. "No. I changed its color, Tsu-kun. People think its pink, right?"

"Alaude-nii-chan told Tsu-kun that its magenta, not pink." Then the kid smiled brightly. "Tsu-kun thinks it suits G-nii."

"Hmm... Want to see Asari-nii? And the others?"

"Yes!" But then his face fell. "Can I?"

"Yes." Reborn answered as he stood up, with the brunet in his arms. "Tsu-kun wants to see them right? Then let's."

Tsuna beamed at Reborn and hugged the hitman. "Thank you Reborn-nii! Love you!"

"Hmmm..."

Hayato smirked before gesturing Lambo to come. The latter gave the jug he was carrying to Frances who smiled at them. Both engaged Tsuna into a little talk as they walked toward the door. Reborn tipped his hat to those who were watching and listening to their conversation and followed the two.

Shouts of 'what', 'how' and 'who' were heard as they walked far from the room. Reborn marveled the remaining guardians of the child in his arms as they approached the deep part of the garden. They were standing there, dressed like normal workers of the mansion. He brought down the kid to the ground and stood there while watching the brunet interact happily with the others.

True to be told, his guardians do look like the first generations of Vongola except the hair and the color of their eyes. Add the little brunet who looks like Vongola Primo even in his child-form, it's the like the people in past came back to life, reincarnated to live in this era. Of course he knew about this. He isn't the world's greatest hitman. The title isn't for a show.

He waited for them. He watched them play, laugh and almost had a fight only the little sky could placate. And when they figured that the kid is already sleepy, Reborn took him and let him say good bye to others before they went inside the mansion. He listened to the mumbles of the little brunet as he walked towards the Decimo's room. When he opened it, he's fairly astonished of how simple the chamber is.

"Will you sleep with Tsu-kun?" Tsuna asked Reborn as the latter lowered him on the bed.

"No."

Tsuna pouted. "Why?"

"Because I don't want to."

"But I'm never gonna see you again." Tsuna sadly murmured as tears started to pour. "Tsu-kun doesn't want this day to end. Tsu-kun doesn't want to go back to those meanie."

"Then how about your Mom? If you stay, your Mom will be sad." Reborn consoled.

Tsuna looked at him with teary eyes. "No. Tsu-kun doesn't want Kaasan sad. Kaasan makes Tsu-kun smile. I like Kaasan."

"Hmm... Now will you go back?"

Tsuna nodded.

"You'll be a good boy, right?"

"Yes." Tsuna took his pinkie and held it with both hands. "Tsu-kun will miss Reborn-nii."

"Hmm..." Reborn only gave a small smile.

Tsuna slowly closed his eyes. Reborn combed the brunet's hair before standing up just as pink smoke erupted and the twenty-three year old Tsuna replaced the child. Tsuna is sitting on the bed in crossed legs, hands woven together in front of him. But the most prominent thing about him is the happy smile accompanied with sad eyes.

Reborn tipped his hat just as the Decimo looked at him.

"How was my kid self?" Tsuna asked.

"The same you." Reborn shrugged.

The brunet looked down on his hands.

"What happened?"

"Kaasan was cool about the exchange. She got shock that I suddenly grew up, but accepted me anyway. She even cooked for me." Tsuna covered his face with his hands as a sob came out. "She's such a sunshine. I miss her cooking, her humming, the way she makes me feel so at home with her smiles and little reminders. She even stayed with me in bed. When I told her I'm about to leave..." He sobbed. "She kissed my forehead and told me to always take care of myself and never give up. It hurts that I will never see her again even after this. But what I really liked about my sudden visit in the past is I was able to tell her that I love her."

Reborn put a hand on the Decimo's head and ruffled his hair. "Good job, Tsuna."

Tsuna nodded as he wipe off the tears. "Yeah. Thanks Reborn."

"Since you ate already, prepare for bed. You have a big day."

Tsuna nodded and went out of the bed. As for the hitman, he went for the door and opened it. Right before he was about to close it, Tsuna called his name.

"What?"

Tsuna smiled. "Thank you for putting up with me twenty years ago, Reborn-nii."

Reborn only smirked at him before closing the door.

"Eh?" Tsuna blurted as he waved off the pink smoke. "What happened- Waah!"

Tsuna tipped backwards and went for a roll on the stairs. When he stopped, he was laying on the floor with a throbbing head and pained body. He groaned loudly.

"Ara? Tsu-kun? You suddenly grown up. Did you drink some potion?"

Tsuna opened his eyes to look at the owner of the voice.

"My. Tsu-kun looks so handsome. Almost like Papa but you look more like me in a masculine way." Nana Sawada, his Mother, giggled. "I won't be surprised if they'll confuse you to a woman."

"K-Kaasan."

"Hai? Need help, Tsu-kun? Still clumsy even though you're already a professional?" Nana teased as she helped him up.

Tsuna pouted. "I am not. It was the fault of the stairs."

Nana giggled again before lightly slapping the last step of the stairs. "Bad stairs. Now. What do you want to eat, Tsu-kun?"

Tsuna beamed. "Anything! As long as it's Kaasan's cooking."

"Let's have curry then? I made some dessert awhile ago."

Tsuna stood up and helped his Mom. "I like that."

"Then curry it is."

They went in the dining room and Nana went for the kitchen. Tsuna sat on his familiar placement on the table and watched his mother do her thing in the kitchen.

Nana Sawada, at this time, has mid-back length brown hair, still shining caramel eyes and a warm smile. She's wearing a casual outfit underneath her apron. If Tsuna is in his right mind, he'll help her. But he wants to savour all the moments he can stare at her and engrave this little moment in his mind before he goes back to his true timeline.

"Have you been eating well, Tsu-kun? You look skinny."

"Hmm? I do Kaasan. My family members never let me skip meals."

"You're a family man?" Nana gasped.

Tsuna blinked before laughing. "No. I didn't mean that. I was pertaining to the company I'm running. We're like a family there."

Nana smiled. "Good job, Tsu-kun."

Tsuna felt pride swelled inside him. "Kaasan?"

"Hmm?"

Tsuna paused before shaking his head. "Nothing."

Nana looked at her son. "Did you and Papa make up?"

"Yes. We did. We're inseparable now." Tsuna answered.

"Tell me about it."

Tsuna told her everything. From what happened six years after her death. Well he did omit the part when she died, skipped the information and such. He told her that he gained friends here and there, gained trusted subordinates and had fun for awhile. He also told her that he's inheriting the company of his Dad's Boss. He even cried when he mentioned that he left his friends for their sake. He couldn't stop talking because he has this urge to tell everything to his Mom.

Nana was really attentive too. From after she cooked, to eating dinner, after they finished, as when Tsuna was helping her with the dishes and even when they moved to the brunet's old room. She watched him talk and responded to the right places. Like always, she's the listener.

"Ah. I miss this room." Tsuna exclaimed as he sat on the small bed. "This reminded a lot of our time together, Kaasan."

Nana smiled from the doorway. "I'm glad you still remember them."

Tsuna looked at his Mother and beamed brightly. "Thank you for everything, Kaasan. From taking care of me from the first few weeks of your pregnancy until I grew. I'm already apologizing if I become a lot more difficult than I am now in the near future. Please take care of me in however you like."

"I should be the one apologizing, Tsu-kun. If I was really an effective mother, I won't be seeing those." Tsuna looked at his bandaged arms. "They're cuts right?"

The brunet nodded. "Will you believe me if I tell you that it's not for suicide?"

"Oh Tsu-kun." Nana cooed as she kneeled in front of him. "I will always believe you. You are my son. And from the looks of it, you grew up as a fine man. Looking after his subordinates, forgiving, compassionate. I don't recommend cutting yourself but if that what eases your pain, then I'll support you. As long as you will stop it when you come back to your friends again."

Tsuna stared at his Mom. "Kaasan."

"Hmm?"

"I love you."

Nana smiled and reached out until her lips touched the forehead of her son. "I love you too, Tsu-kun. Always and forever. Lifetime will never be enough to express how much I adore you, my little Tsu-kun."

Tsuna closed his eyes and before he knew it, pink smoke enveloped his being and he is back to his original timeline. He looked around from where he was sitting before sighing through his nose as his heart broke in million times again.

Tsuna easily slid the knife in his arm, penetrating the skin lightly just to draw some blood and feel how the seven cuts sting and hurt like hell. He put the silver to the sink, put his hands on either side of it and looked at himself in the mirror. He sighed as he stared at his red brimmed eyes.

Yes. He cried.

Not because he misses his Mom, but because he doesn't want to be tied to those people even the rings doesn't consider worthy. He had already a closure with the former so its a case close. The latter, on the other hand, is something he wants to never happen. But who is he kidding? He chose this. And he has to bear with the consequence. And besides, it seems like his intuition is hyper happy today. It's so giddy that it gives happy buzzes to his head.

After getting tired of looking at himself in the mirror, he washed his wounds and took some bandage from the first aid kit he had in the bathroom. He went out of the bathroom after doing it, only to see Reborn standing by the foot of the bed, staring at the black suit he should be wearing.

Tsuna took the long sleeves polo and started to wear it. He can see Reborn's eyes inspecting every scar in his body. If a month ago, he was embarrassed about these scars, now he can show it to the world. All because Ryohei told him they're his battle scars. The signs that he survived the harsh trials the world had tried giving him.

"That's a lot of blood." Reborn pointed out.

Tsuna looked at his arms before he buttoned the cuffs of the sleeves. "Yeah."

Silence settled.

"What did you do?"

The brunet took the black necktie and put it on his nape. "Dreaded the fact that I'm gonna work with the wrong people."

"Did you treat it properly?"

Tsuna gave him an eye smile. "Yes. I won't dare let them be infected."

"Good. And come here, idiot. That's not how you tie it."

Tsuna laughed sheepishly as he went to the hitman. "It's been years since I wore a suit."

"Then who did your tie on the ball?" Reborn asked as he expertly put them together.

"Gabriel did." Tsuna stared at the ceiling, remembering the man with the newsboy hat. "He was really quick and even offered to teach me one day."

Reborn raised a brow as he slowed down on doing the knot.

"Gabriel has this nice aura, you know. And very professional in a way. But I can tell that he's a good person. And I like how I feel so relaxed with him."

"Don't you feel scared that you feel like that with him?"

"I don't because it's the same with you- Ow!"

"Just get dressed already. You're getting late."

"Hmp. One thing I learned in this kind of occasions," Tsuna took his coat and started to wear it. "the party never starts without the boss."

Reborn shook his head with an amused smirk. "Now now, Decimo. Don't be cocky. A mafia boss is never late."

The brunet looked at him with an innocent expression. "Who said I'm going to be a mafia boss."

The hitman froze.

"I'm going to be a leader of a vigilante group, Reborn." Tsuna combed his hair and went for the door, Reborn's eyes following him. "Soon you'll see the Vongola mafia famiglia bloom to a vigilante group again. Just like four hundred years ago."

Reborn was left there, stunned.
