Loki fights more intensely than ever during our morning workouts. He manages to take me down twice, and I take him down once. He manages to cut me on my arm and leg, but it quickly heals. He agrees to one more bout before breakfast, so we get to our positions in opposite corners of the room. Right before we start, he raises his hand and a parkour course appears around the room, making it even more difficult to try and fight. He counts down, "three…. Two...one...go!" and we charge.
I climb up a series of towers, trying to get a high point advantage to drop down on him, but he uses his powers to alter the course agaig, causing me to drop to the floor. I groan as I land on the floor, causing white how pain to seer up my leg. I stand there for a moment, standing my guard and waiting for it to heal. When the pain goes away, he's almost upon me, so I slide under his legs and jump up from behind him. He spins around quickly, meeting my daggers with his own.
He grunts as I slash his weapons to the side and successfully cut him across the cheek. He holds out his arms and a tower forms below his feet, causing him to rise above me. He smirks as I struggle to jump from platform to platform to reach him. Finally, I reach the top and he meets my daggers mid-air. We fight back and forth in the sky, jumping to and fro between the different leveled platforms. At one point, he uses his magic to throw aside my daggers and he sheaths his weapon, forcing me to use my powers to fight.
He sends an energy blast towards me, so I use mine as a blockade, causing a big explosion to happen mid air. The force of it causes me to fall back, making me tumble off the small tower I had been standing on. I manage to grab onto another one before hitting the ground, but the force of it nearly knocks the wind out of me, causing me to fall onto my back on another platform below. I lay there, trying to catch my breath and hoping that he won't attack me while I'm down.
To my dismay, my prayers are not answered. Loki swings down from nowhere and lands on the platform above me. All I can do is lay there, trying to keep my eyes open and catch my breath. When he attacks, I'll have no way to defend myself. He grins deviously, and holds his hand out. I feel my body float away from the platform, and stare at him in confusion. Why is he floating me? He doesn't stop keeping me floating above the ground until I'm nearly touching the ceiling. Then, he drops me. I try to scream as I fall, but I have no air in my lungs to do so.
As I fall to the ground, I manage to maneuver myself so that I'm at least standing upright, but that's not enough. Moments before I hit the ground I hear Loki yelling to me, "use your powers, save yourself!" He might mean it sincerely, to try and save me, but it sounds almost like he's mocking me.
Yelling at me to save myself in a way I've never tried before. He probably planned this, and was waiting for the opportune moment to kill me, his last words mocking me telling me that I can save myself. I close my eyes, bracing for the impact, but instead hear wind rushing around me. I open my eyes to see the ground disappear and instead be replaced with the sight of a platform that had been multiple feet above me before. I grin and try to move myself over to it. I land on it with a loud thud. I cringe when I hear a loud crack.
Pain shoots up my leg, and I cry out, trying to grab my leg and stop the pain. Loki teleports next to me and makes the platform wider so that he can stand there. I can barely see him - my vision keeps splitting in and out - and all I can do is lay on the platform, writhing in pain. I feel the tears appear in my eyes, and I don't even care that Loki is there watching. He stares down at me in contempt, not even bothering to try and help.
I lay there in pain, for five minutes. The entire time, Loki stands above me with a smirk. Finally, after what seems like an eternity of pain, it starts fading away. The pain seems to have diminished, enough for my senses to fully return. I groan as I pick myself up from the floor, barely able to support my weight. Slowly, I manage to pull myself to my feet. I take the weight off one to take a step forward and instantly fall- right into Loki's arms. He chuckles and holds me by the shoulders, keeping me steady and supporting some of my weight.
"Falling for me that quickly, I see" he says.
"Whatever, this is your fault." I say, my face turning red as a strawberry.
"As I recall, it was you who teleported here."
"Yeah, but you caused me to fall, and you were the one who knocked the wind out of me."
"Tut-tut you should not rely on such trivial matters. For now, you should probably get back to your room so you can heal by tonight."
Oh crap, tonight. I think to myself, I completely forgot, and now my leg is broken. "Is my leg even going to heal by then? I mean, it's a broken leg!"
"You'll be fine, now come on." He wills the platform to bring us to the floor and carries me away from the training room, all the way to my room.
Gingerly, he places me on the bed and steps away. He leaves for a few minutes and then returns with a small glass of a clear liquid, "here, drink this. It should help you heal faster." I take it in both hands, and take a small sip of it. It tastes of nothing, I think to myself as I down the rest of the drink. I notice a small smile on his lips as the last drop of liquid disappears, but after the blink of an eye it disappears and is replaced with his normal daunting frown.
He stands across the room, watching me as I pull the covers over my body and turn over. Before, I had not been tired and my body was full of adrenaline. Now, fatigue overtakes me and it takes only moments before I fall asleep.
