Chapter 5, Journey through the ruins.
Frisk walked through The ruins alone, she was terrified that someone or something may jump out and attack her at any moment after all Toriel had told her that there was other monsters living in The ruins.
Frisk followed the path until she came across a large frog known as a Froggit, Frisk gulped she had no idea what this monster was capable of or if it wanted to hurt her.
The Froggit seemed to be very confused by Frisk's fear, Froggits was one of the weakest monsters in the Underground and it wondered why anyone would be afraid of it, "Ribbit" the Froggit hopped a little closer and Frisk took a step back.
Froggit hopped closer and this time Frisk tripped when she tried to step back, the Froggit filled with concern hopped up to Frisk to see if she was ok, Frisk closed her eyes as the Froggit came closer expecting an attack.
However when no attack came Frisk opened her eyes and saw the Froggit standing over her looking concerned, "Don't worry, I'm ok" said Frisk in her usual timid voice, the Froggit was happy to hear this and he hopped for joy.
Frisk giggled at seeing the Froggit's silly antics, now that she wasn't cowering she thought that the Froggit was rather cute, Frisk stood up, "Thank you for making sure that I was ok" she said, the Froggit smile happily and hopped away.
The next monster that Frisk encountered was a moth like creature that had tiny arms and legs, this monster was called a Whimsun, as soon as the two saw each other both Frisk and the Whimsun was frozen with fear.
The two remained like this for almost a minute, they was both far too afraid of the other to move, finally Frisk noticed that Whimsun wasn't attacking her and she came out of her fright, Frisk was extremely confused when she realised that Whimsun was afraid of her.
"Hey, are you ok" asked Frisk, "I'm sorry, no, I mean, I should go, no, I mean" said Whimsun clearly too afraid to form a coherent sentence, Frisk approached Whimsun "Hey its ok, you don't need to be afraid" she said trying to calm Whimsun down.
However Whimsun continued to panic and he began to hyperventilate, Frisk did the only thing she could think of, she wrapped her arms around Whimsun and hugged him, "Its ok, its ok" she said softly.
Whimsun slowly began to calm down, soon he was hugging Frisk back, "I'm sorry, I've never seen you before and I was afraid that you might be mean" said a now calm Whimsun, "Its ok I was afraid of you too" said Frisk surprising Whimsun.
Soon Frisk and Whimsun went their separate ways and Frisk continued to search for Toriel, Frisk was starting to feel a little less nervus now, she had encountered a few monsters now and they had all been friendly with the exception of Flowey.
Frisk continued on through The ruins, at one point she crossed a bridge going over a river, as she watched the water run by she couldn't help but feel at peace.
Frisk had been searching for Toriel for some time now but she was still having little luck in the mater, soon Frisk came to a narrow corridor that had something white blocking the way.
Frisk walked up to the white object and realised that it was another monster, this monster resembles a classic sheet ghost that would usually appear in a children's cartoon.
The ghost was lying down blocking the way, "Zzzzzzz" said the ghost pretending to be asleep, Frisk didn't want to disturb the ghost but she needed to get past.
"Excuse me Mr ghost" said Frisk, "Zzzzzz" said the Ghost he wasn't a very convincing actor, "Mr ghost I know you're not asleep" said Frisk.
The ghost opened his eyes and got up, "Oh I'm sorry, I guess I'm not a very good actor" he said sadly, "Why was you pretending to be asleep" asked Frisk, "Well, I just thought that people might ignore me if I was asleep" said the ghost.
Frisk was starting to feel bad for this ghost he seemed to be very sad, "Is there something wrong Mr ghost, do you want to talk about it" she asked, "That's ok, you shouldn't have to worry about my problems" said the ghost.
"Ok Mr ghost, I just wanted to help" said Frisk, the ghost gave a small smile, "Really, that's nice of you, and you don't have to keep calling me Mr ghost, my names Napstablook" said the ghost.
"Ok then Napstablook as long as you'll be ok" said Frisk, "Thanks, it's nice to meet someone as friendly as you" said Napstablook.
It was at this point that Napstablook realised that he was blocking the way, "Oh I should probably get out of the way for you" he said as he moved aside, "Thanks Napstablook, I hope we'll see each other again" said Frisk as she walked passed, Napstablook smiled "That would be nice" he said.
After a little more walking Frisk found a house that had some of its lights on, Frisk wondered who lived here as she walked up to the door, just as Frisk was about to knock on the door it suddenly opened and Toriel walked out.
"Oh dear, that took longer than I thought, I hope that Frisk is ok" said Toriel as she walked out of her house, "Ms Toriel" said Frisk getting Toriel's attention, "Oh Frisk, how did you get all the way over here, I thought you was still waiting for me to come and get you" said Toriel.
"I'm sorry Ms Toriel, please don't be angry" said Frisk with a hint of fear in her voice, "Why would I be angry, I'm just glad that your safe" said Toriel as she gave Frisk a hug, Frisk was surprised at first but then she returned the hug.
As Toriel hugged Frisk she realised just how thin the girl was, Toriel hadn't noticed at first because of Frisk's jumper but now that she was hugging her she could clearly feel her ribs as if she was a skeleton, it made Toriel worry about when Frisk had last had a decent meal.
"This is my house young one, would you like to come inside" offered Toriel, "Ok" said Frisk, Toriel led Frisk inside of her house, the inside of the house was simple but peaceful, there was a wooden floor and there was a few pictures on the walls.
Frisk noticed that she could smell something delicious in the air, "Ms Toriel are you cooking something" asked Frisk, "Why yes, I thought that we should celebrate your arrival so I'm baking a butterscotch cinnamon pie, I hope that you like it" said Toriel.
Frisk was flattered, her parents had never baked anything especially for her, "And there's something else I'd like to show you" said Toriel as she led Frisk through the house until they reached one particular door.
"Here you are Frisk, your very own room, I hope that you can make yourself at home" said Toriel, Frisk didn't know what to say no one had ever been this kind to her, suddenly Toriel sniffed the air and her face turned to worry, "Oh dear, the pie" she said as she ran to the kitchen.
Frisk entered the room and found that it appeared to be a child's bedroom, there was a bed, a wardrobe, some draws and a box of toys, Frisk was stunned, this room was nicer then her bedroom back home.
Frisk took her shoes off and sat on the bed, it was softer then her bed at home, it was at this point that Frisk began to realise how tired she was, she wasn't sure what time it was but she knew that it must be pretty late by now.
"Maybe I'll just lay down" thought Frisk, however after her head hit the pillow it didn't take long for Frisk's eyes to close and for her to fall asleep.
Toriel was in the kitchen tending to the pie, thankful she had managed to save the pie before it had burned, "I hope Frisk likes this pie, I want her stay here to be as enjoyable as possible" thought Toriel.
Toriel cut a slice of hot pie for Frisk and placed it on a small plate along with a spoon, "Frisk dear would you like a slice of pie now" called Toriel however she received no response.
Toriel with the pie in hand walked into the dining room and saw that Frisk wasn't there, Toriel wondered if Frisk was in her room and had simple not heard her.
"Frisk are you in there" asked Toriel as she knocked on Frisk's door but received no response, Toriel opened the door and saw Frisk sleeping peacefully on the bed, "The poor dear must be exhausted" thought Toriel.
Toriel now being careful not to wake Frisk carefully placed the slice of pie on the draws so that she could eat it when she woke up, Toriel then gently tucked Frisk in and smiled when a tiny smile appeared on Frisk's face.
"Good night Frisk, and sweet dreams" thought Toriel as she carefully left the room and shut the door.
