Love Struck Delusion

Chapter 172 – Roommate.

Raptor's POV, An hour later.

"This is your room commander." Roman said at last as we got to the very end of the tour. Up till this point everyone was still following close by. Zeta made sure to remain by her sister's side now as Cody was content being right next to mine. Blitz on the other hand was looking just about as tired as I expected. Giving Roman an offer of my hand, he grabbed on as I replied with a smile.

"Thank you Captain for the tour."

Matching me Roman stated back.

"It was my pleasure sir. Now I'm sure your eager to get some rest. So I'll get myself out of your hair."

Letting out a small laugh towards the man's response, we all watched as he soon began to leave our group. A step outside the inner circle he urged.

"You need anything you just come find me like I said. Goodnight everyone."

With Blitz and Zeta waving him off as he proceeded back the way towards the main room. Once out of sight everyone focused on me as it was clear this would be the first time we part ways. Nodding my head I asked with a caring tone.

"You heard the man. You know your rooms?" I asked around as everyone but Pepper replied.

"Yes."

Smiling towards the group I then urged.

"Then go get some well earned rest. But remember what I said. Don't lower your guard here. Understood?"

Everyone nodded as I then stepped back to watch Blitz and Pepper break off first. With Zeta stuck picking between the two of us I urged.

"Go be with her. You know where I'll be if you need anything. That goes for everyone."

With the wolf just shooting me a smile, Cody and I watched as they soon disappeared down the hallway. Letting out a sigh I looked to the fox as he wondered.

"About that...you mind if we talk a little about the sleeping arrangements?"

"You got a problem? Then let's hear it." Cody was just as tired as all of us, but he still kept his presence above all else. For a guy who is only twenty three, he's pretty mature for a paid gun. Knew his business was first. Giving me a smile he replied.

"Not a problem. A request."

Cocking one eye I asked in interest to the sudden situation.

"A request?"

Still smiling a few inches under my gaze, Cody replied with that same energetic voice I first met him with.

"I don't want you to take this the wrong way. I'm sure we'll be friends. Hell I'm sure we'll be best buds if given the chance but I...?" Cutting him off with a small laugh I begged.

"Just say it man."

Placing both his hands in his front pockets; Cody then said with a laugh shuffled all through his words.

"Your twenty million dollars right now to me. That kind of money means I'll work my ass off to make sure you never get harmed. But that kind of money plays on one of my cons."

"Cons? You?" I replied with a laugh and smile as it was clear we were getting along pretty well. Kinda reminded me of Frost. God it's been years since I even thought about that guy. Fucking if he was still alive and Carter...? Ignoring my thoughts I kept focused on Cody as he kept his happy voice up to reply.

"Yeah cons!" With his eyes locking right on mine all the sudden he stated.

"I get overprotective. Leaving you alone for even a few minutes would drive me fucking wild. Like I said...twenty million is a lot of money and I don't know about you but I'd like to retire early. Have the chance to say I got out alive from this business. That means I'd like to bunk with ya for the first few nights. I'll be more comfortable if I have time to figure this security out a bit better. Then I'll leave you free to do whatever you want. But right now...yeah."

With silence among us I replied.

"I get it. I do."

With a smile coming back to the fox in due time he added.

"Hey it would give us time to talk a bit. If I were you I'd want to get to know my guards. Can't trust a guy to watch your back if you don't even know his back story a little."

Just shaking my head I replied.

"You're a weird one."

Walking to the door that led into the bedroom, I got asked back with a curious question.

"Is that a yes?"

Stopping to look back at him, I replied with a small smile.

"Yeah it's a yes. You coming now or what?"

With his bag on his back Cody replied.

"We'll shit now that I know it's cool then hell yeah I'm coming. Get the door?"

Stopping to let him get in front of me, Cody got the large wooden door open for me. With that we both entered into a room that in my opinion was bigger then it had to be. A huge god damn bed in the very center alongside a small lit fireplace and two huge red fleece carpets. But beyond that there was a small kitchen near the north wall closet to a window. And a full bathroom and shower at the south end. It's like the first floor to my house it was that big. I can only imagine the type of shit Hecan has at his white house. Lives the spoiled life.

Cody on the other hand quickly made his way to the bathroom to shout.

"God damn this presidential detail gig just got more worth it! Look at this shit Voltz!"

Dropping Molly off on the bed, I slowly walked over to see the shower was as big as the bed itself. Fully made of glass and accessed by a door twice my size. The metal was gold and the interior was drenched white. Probably the only thing this house wasn't made out of from wood. Looking back to see my reaction Cody stated to me.

"I haven't had a shower for the last two days. You don't know how fucking nice this is to see."

Giving him another cocked eye I replied with a lower tone.

"You don't have to tell me that. Guy can tell. Why did you think Pepper was staying away from ya Irish?"

Smacking my chest with his back hand he replied.

"Fuck you! First of all you don't have to agree with me that I stink a little. But more importantly that shit with Pepper is a joke! I was just trying to buy some room to breathe. Did you see how she got when she realized who I was working for?"

Nodding I then said back carefully.

"Yeah I did."

"Girl was gonna shoot me. Give me a break. I'm sure she's a great person and all that, but shit I would like to know if she's crazy for real first before anything tries to happen between us."

Laughing I then replied.

"Haha! Ya I can't agree more with that. Hmmm?"

Cody widened his eyes as I turned around to head for the bed. In confusion he wondered.

"You good?"

Stopping to look at Molly I replied.

"Yeah I'm good. Just thinking."

Taking off the sling to his bag, Cody then said with an almost confused tone.

"You know that's another thing I wanted to talk to you about. That little showdown you had together back there? What the fuck was that about? I thought you knew them."

"I know her sister Zeta. Pepper we picked up not that long before we got to the states. I only know what she's told me and what I clearly can see by looking at her and how she carries herself now that she's back together with her relative."

"Why are you helping them?" Cody then asked as he approached my side with his bag being held down in his right hand.

Letting out a small sigh I replied back quickly.

"Came down to a promise I made to her sister back home when Hecan introduced us. We both had problems and we promised whoever got theirs solved first would help the other. Being where we were at the current time; I got mine resolved pretty fast and now here they are."

"You got Zeta out of her contract then I assume. So the promise is to get her sister out of hers too then huh? You can't go back to the rebellion with Pepper's heat on ya. That would fuck a lot of things up for the rebellion I would think. So instead you ditched ship and took this as a chance to let things go south after your resignation. The middle east probably bleeds your name after your battle in taking back Afghanistan and Iraq so there is a good chance the city will rebel and probably make whoever takes your place put in a position that requires some pretty serious power handle moves to be made. No matter what happens that shit won't end well and I would think the city will come out begging for you to reconsider leadership. It makes sense. So come to the states where no one will both find or fuck with ya and rest up for a return some day."

Widening my eyes to the fox and his clever thinking. He soon noticed my reaction to ask.

"Am I close at least?"

Nodding my head very slowly I replied.

"Your pretty smart for a kid your age. But do you know anything about me? Even the slightest thing? Or is that all some wild guess based off of what you know in front of you?"

With wide eyes Cody stated with a careful voice.

"It's a guess for the most part yeah, but I know a lot about people I probably shouldn't. It's a habit I've had since I was in school. I like knowing about the people who I consider heroes in our lifetime. And people who are just plan badass and outright impressive leaders. People...people like you commander."

With our eyes not leaving one another, I questioned his knowledge by asking.

"You know things then?"

Almost caught off guard with a red face coming to his cheeks. Cody replied very unsure now that he was asked.

"I mean...yeah?"

Reaching out to tap his chest slightly with both my hands I urged.

"Then go on then. You tell me some things."

"Like what?" He then asked in confusion as I gave the question quick thought to reply.

"Start simple. How old am I?"

"Thirty eight." He replied almost instantly as I then asked.

"What color quills did I first have before this war?"

"Grey and green streaks going through your arms and legs. You only recently switched the look."

Widening my eyes I stated.

"Your good. Surprised you knew that. Let's get more personal. How many kids did I have?"

"Three. Well two technically. If you don't count your adopted daughter Midnight who you took in after her family was killed back in the first war with Robotnik at the helm. You also had a son Ghost and further back when the rebellion was just starting out you had a girl named Abbey. Girlfriend Julie I think. That was a long time ago though." Cody stated as I actually was impressed now. However Cody beckoned.

"Another?"

Smiling I replied.

"Service record?"

Widening his eyes Cody replied back like a bullet point.

"Ahhhh G.U.N special operations soldier when you were eighteen. Went on to take over for your father after you killed him for Commander Lehigh. That way to not arouse suspicion among the rebellion itself as to what really happened. I won't mention the others you killed but you get the idea."

Slowly I sat down on the edge of the bed. Just looking up at the fox as he had me shocked with his knowledge.

"Ran more special operations mission for the rebellion till you got promoted up to a major. Then when Shadow got involved you declined to lead the rebellion in his stead. Instead you watched his back and ran his special operation teams till his passing after the war. Then twelve or so years passed by and you decided enough was enough when the treaty was going to get voided and you'd be back at square one. So you launched attacks on G.U.N where you could in Iraq until you amassed enough force to push the border. Took the border and killed General Monroe to secure the capital building. Had some issues after with Linnen and his user's squads and towards the beginning of the war starting up you...well you and your family we're executed. Should I stop?" He then asked me in concern he was going too deep at this point. Shaking my head I replied.

"Nah...?" Just chuckling Cody finished by saying.

"You cheated death and waged a personal war to get the men who did it. In which brings Zeta and Hecan into the picture up. But now that I get the chance to ask some questions and get your reaction to them. It kinda just closed some gaps."

"So you were just assuming till I came clean?" I questioned as he nodded.

"I had as you said...a lot of guesses. The internet is a crazy and unreliable place. But with my knowledge of the situation up till this point I had good reasoning to think those things were true. Cause it all makes a lot of sense when I close my heart to it. You know?" He asked me as I was still stunned to say the least. With the fox just standing there in loss for how to continue he soon said.

"Like I said this would be a good chance to get to know one another. I already had you kinda put together but I wanted to be sure. I'm sorry for bringing up the past but even that plays a part for the future. I'm not from the middle east commander but I still care about the world. What your planning takes a lot of balls and a lot of cold thoughts. If you don't mind me asking. Is that what all the years of war did to you?"

The question had me at a peak of silence. Utterly entranced in the conversation I replied while reaching to pet Molly who was barely awake.

"You would think that wouldn't you?"

Placing his bag on the bed Cody listened as Molly was content with my pets. With the fox staring at me I went on to say.

"I think it's due in part that I had to live through losing two families. Both of whom I loved with all I had. Losing everything that made me happy was more effective then experiencing death and all it's cons throughout the years I've been fighting to stay alive in this world. Yeah...war plays it's part Cody but I think watching everyone I love die is the deciding factor in why I am the way I am now. I hope to god you never have to understand what I mean by all that. Cause no one should have to go through it. It just shouldn't be a thing people do."

Looking down to my lap, I listened as Cody was at a loss for what to say next. Looking back to him after some time I urged.

"Now I don't know about you but I'd like to get caught up on some sleep."

With his smile coming back Cody replied.

"Yeah that sounds like a great idea at this point."

"You getting that shower you so desperately want?" I then asked him as he chuckled and reached up for his hat. I watched as he took it off revealing the top part of his head. My eyes watched him close as he replied while grabbing back onto the sling to his bag.

"I think I'll test it out ya. Should I try to be quiet?"

Letting out a small laugh I replied.

"Nah don't bother. I'm sure I can manage at this point. I sleep like a log."

"Okay good." He then said back as I caught his eyes looking to the bed. Sensing the question to come I listened as he muttered.

"So about the sleeping arrangements? We got one bed here. How you want to work that?"

Looking down to Molly I replied.

"I guess we got to share. If you want to watch over me that badly you'll ether have to sleep with me or get on the floor."

With wide eyes the fox then added.

"Or maybe I'll live in the shower. Depends how good the water pressure is. Haha."

Nodding my head I then urged.

"Go get yourself washed up Cody. I'm not going anywhere and the door is locked. And...and right now this pillow is looking all the better as I sit here."

Pulling his bag back up, the fox replied while stepping back.

"Sounds like a plan then. You need anything before that?"

Shaking my head I listened as he then said back.

"Okay then. You rest up then commander."

"Raptor." I replied as he was stepping away. Looking back at me as he reached the bathroom door Cody questioned.

"What?"

"It's Raptor. Please don't call me commander when I'm not in charge of commanding anything."

With a smile still on his face Cody replied.

"Have it your way. Figured I'd get first name privileges at some point anyway."

"You'll get more then that if you keep staling." I told him as he let out a laugh to ask.

"Really?"

"Really." I replied as it was clear this guy was going to be quite the conversationalist in the upcoming days.

Dropping his bag on the floor inside the bathroom, I watched as Cody looked back my way to mutter.

"Kinda curious now."

Widening my eyes I watched as he reached over to shut the door. Once behind it I let out a sigh and looked over to Molly who was at this point asleep. Falling back on the bed I thought to myself as I heard the water turn on.

"I wonder how Zeta is. Can't imagine her sister wanting to rest right away. Not after what I did to her."

As seconds passed, I started to hone in on the water. I could sense Cody during all this and I felt the exact moment he got in the shower. I didn't need powers to know it cause the second it happened I heard the guy shout.

"It's really good!"

Letting out a laugh, I sat back up and looked to my bag which I had next to me on the floor. Opening it up I looked in at my gear. Zeta kept good on her promise it seemed. Cause my armor and weapons were all here. But something was off about the armor. I didn't care to look but I saw for a fact she cleaned it all. My old glock being the most noticeable of the bunch. With not a speck of sand or rust around it, I questioned what she used to get it back to this condition. Girl really likes her guns.

Closing it back up I refocused and got off the duster and combat vest I've been wearing. Placing them down on top of my bag, I knelt in to get off my boots. Stepping out of them in due time, I felt more cozy and at last got my belt off. Once not being strangled by the waist, I stood up to walk around the left side of the bed where I had Molly. Gently pulling up the covers, I got in and looked to my legs as Molly got woken up slightly from the ordeal.

"Sorry girl." I told her as she stood up to reposition herself along my legs. I wasn't all that tired but I felt it deep down after all this shit. With Molly soon pressed against my legs, I shut my eyes and tried to sleep. It was honestly hard considering I had to try and ignore all the energy I was feeling. But once I got comfortable I felt my head go limp and my mind rest.

mT Shadow.

Sorry guys for the infrequent updates to the story. I have a lot of chapters already written, I just haven't gotten around to spell checking them. I've been sick the last few days so I'm hoping to come around shortly. But I'll continue posting as always.
