Jack: hey i just wanted to know if u wanted to see a movie tomorrow?

Davey: How's your Christmas?

Jack: its been really nice, u know medda, theres a lot of people over

Davey: Yea I could imagine

Jack: k so i can pick u up tomorrow? Is 1 ok?

Davey: Yeah that's perfect

Christmas Eve actually went pretty well. Davey tried to take his focus on how much he liked Jack in a romantic way, and just tried to appreciate being with him in the moment. It wasn't perfect, or easy, but it kind of worked, so it was easier spending time with him one-on-one now without being completely overwhelmed by his feelings.

It was the day after Christmas, and Davey was ready. He was honestly really excited. Since they had all been so busy with college applications, auditions, and school in general they hadn't had as much time to hang out together.

*12:58 PM*

Jack: im here

Davey grabbed his wallet, shouted a goodbye to his parents, and ran outside to meet Jack. Jack couldn't help but smile when he saw Davey walk outside and sit down in the passenger seat. Jack just hoped Davey wouldn't look in the backseat.

"Hey! How was your Christmas?" Davey greeted.

"It was amazing! It was the first time I got to celebrate since I was eight. Medda invited over a lot of her family and friends, and I've met some of them, but not all of them and they're all pretty great. I've never seen so much support for me going to school for something in the arts."

Davey smiled, "That's really great."

"What about your break so far? I know you're still working on one application."

"Yeah, this one's for Cornell. I'm hoping to submit it by the end of the week. I don't want to wait too long."

"I'm sure it's perfect Dave, you're just paranoid."

"Yeah I know, but this isn't exactly a school where I can submit something that's just good. It doesn't just have to be perfect, it has to be different, I have to stand out. They won't accept me if I'm like everyone else cause they won't remember me."

"I think you have a point Dave, that's all very true, but you're overthinking it. You're gonna drive yourself crazy thinking like that all the time."

"Yeah, you're definitely right."

"So, right now is your time to relax. You are not going to think about this application at all while you're with me. So that means you should put on showtunes right now so we can sing while we drive."

Davey couldn't help but smile as he pulled up his playlist and plugged his phone in. He couldn't lie, this was the best day of his break so far. After the movie was over, they got dinner because they could not stop talking about the movie.

"I'm pretty sure I got chills during every single song." Jack said, "I can't even choose a favorite! They're all amazing!"

"The music was hands down the best part of the movie. As soon as I get home it's going on my showtunes playlist."

"As amazing as it was, I was getting annoyed when P.T kept shutting out the performers. He kept preaching about how they were unique, and they weren't going to hide anymore, but he didn't even want to be seen in public with them!"

"Yeah! I mean, you can understand why he did it but he was being a jerk." Davey agreed with Jack.

"Honestly, Zendaya and Zac Efron were the best part of the show. That choreography was amazing! We have to see it again, but with everyone next time. They're gonna love it."

"Especially Race," Davey picked up his phone that was resting on the table to see a text from his dad, "Shoot, I'm sorry Jack, my parents want me home, it's supposed to start snowing in an hour or so."

"Yeah, of course, I'll drop you off now."

On the ride back to Davey's house, they blasted music from The Greatest Showman, and tried to sing a long, but didn't do very well since they only heard the music once before.

"Thanks again Jack, I had a really fun day."

"I did too, you're coming tomorrow too right?"

"Of course, I'll see you then."

"Before you go," Jack said quickly, "I have something for you." Jack stepped out of the car to go

into the backseat. He pulls out a wrapped present. It was decently big, but definitely not a box.

"Jack, you didn't have to-"

"Merry Christmas Davey," Jack said with a smile, "I know you don't celebrate but I still

think I'm allowed to get my friend a present."

"Thanks Jack, you really didn't have to get me anything."

"I know, but I did. Open it!" Jack said eagerly.

Davey undid the wrapping paper, careful not to make too much of a mess. The first thing he saw was a photo from sophomore year, a group picture from their first movie night. Next to it was another photo from sophomore year, but this was just Davey and Jack, taken by Crutchie when they went bowling. Once all of the wrapping paper was off, he saw what it was. It was a picture frame that probably had close to fifty photos in it.

"Since this is what gifts are senior year, it's for your dorm room. I got pictures from everyone else too."

"Jack this is amazing! You didn't have to do all of this."

"I know I didn't have to, but I wanted to get you something, especially after that party you gave me for my birthday."

Davey smiled, "Thank you Jack, I love it."

Davey set down the collage of memories so he could hug Jack. Jack couldn't help but smile at the gesture, "Of course." Jack pulled away, "I should probably get going."

"Yeah, see you tomorrow."

"See ya." And Jack drove away with a smile on his face.

When Davey walked in, he put the collage where he could see it, then went straight to his laptop so he could go through his

application again. He got about halfway through his essay when he got a call from Crutchie. Normally he would've ignored it and called him back when he was done, but he was feeling better about his application. "Hey Crutchie." He answered.

"So how was your date with Jack?" Crutchie asked right away, skipping the hello.

"What Crutchie-"

"He's been texting me ever since he dropped you off. If that wasn't a date, then I don't know what is."

"Just because we saw a movie?"

"And went to dinner after."

Davey sighed, "Friends do that all the time! You've done that with Jack before."

"Yeah, but I didn't freak out afterwards and start texting you about how much of a good time we had. Really, I have my laptop open on my messages cause he's still texting me. Did you really sing Two-Player Game together?"

"So what? It's a great song and a great show." Davey defended.

"I agree, but it's also a very gay song; please tell me you sang as Jeremy."

Davey paused before answering, "I might have."

Crutchie laughed over the phone, "He's now texting about what an amazing singer you are." Davey was happy they were over the phone so Crutchie didn't see him blush, "Also, I hope you liked your gift."

"Yeah, it's amazing, I can't believe he did that."

"Well, even if you can't believe he has a crush on you, you're still best friends." Davey smiled, "Hey you're coming tomorrow right?" Crutchie asked.

"Yeah, I'll see you then, but I have to go, I want to submit this application before I leave tomorrow."

"Davey that's great! Okay, I'll hang up then, bye!"

Davey smiled, "Bye Crutchie."
