Chapter 13

*Seize the Day*

*Monday 6:41 A.M*

Race: i dont wanna go to school

Race: i cant do it

Race: i dont want the disappointment

Jack: u dont know that

Race: my audition was shit

Jack: first of all it wasnt

Jack: second of all, the director has known you since freshman year and she knows what you can do

Albert: u never know whats gonna happen

Spot: It's gonna turn out fine

Race: thanks guys

Everyone had gotten to school early that day to wait for the cast list to be put up. Race had been pacing in front of the theater's doors since he got there. "Tony, come on, sit down," Spot said, "You're getting all of us nervous."

"I'm sorry, I'm just really freaked out."

"We were all at auditions, we know you're gonna get the part." Spot tried to comfort him.

"You can't know that for sure! I mean what if I don't? What if I get ensemble for the fourth year in a row?"

"It would suck, but we all know how talented you are. The role you get doesn't determine your talent."

Race sighed, "I just hate not being seen as part of this group because I haven't gotten a role."

"Hey, anyone involved in the program knows you're a theater geek, I wouldn't worry about that." Albert said, trying to lighten the mood.

And it worked, "Thanks Albert."

The group waited for a few more minutes in silent anticipation. Thankfully, Race wasn't pacing anymore.

Finally, Medda, the director, walked up with two sheets of paper.

"Holy crap…" Race whispered.

"Race, you got it!" Jack said, which seemed to snap Race out of a trance.

"I got a role… Holy shit I got a role! I got the lead!" Race screamed, as he turned to hug the nearest person, which of course was Spot.

"I'm so so happy for you." Spot said.

The next person to hug him was Jack, "I told you so!"

"I've never been happy to be wrong before!" Race said, still finding it impossible not to smile.

Next was Davey, "We have a lot of work to do Race."

"I can't wait." Race said. The muscles in his cheeks starting to take the strain.

*Wednesday 11:34 PM*

*Elmer to Albert*

Elmer: im gonna do it

Albert: Do what

Elmer: im gonna come out to them

Albert: Holy shit elmer thats amazing!

Albert: Are u ready?

Elmer: no but im going to anyway

Elmer: this friday? Were all gonna be at daveys

Albert: ill be there! I will help and support you with whatever you need

Elmer: thank you

Albert: thats just being a good friend, you dont thank me for that

Elmer: im still going to

It was Friday, and everyone had been able to make it to Davey's. That was supposed to be a good thing, but it didn't seem like it to Elmer. One issue was that they were struggling to find a time to tell them, but they felt awkward interrupting. Especially since they didn't know how to tell everyone. They kept going back and forth about what was the best way to tell them.

Luckily, Albert realized this and decided to help them out, "Hey guys! So Elmer, has been wanting to tell you all something, so I'll let them do that." And he sat back down.

"So, I've already had to do this once, and it was awful, and for some reason this time is so much harder. But basically, I've been questioning my gender for a couple years, and I know I'm not a guy. I'm nonbinary, and I like using they/them pronouns better than he/him. I know that might seem weird-"

"Hey, that's not weird at all." Race interrupted them before they could ramble anymore, "I don't want you to think like that again." Race said as he went to hug them.

"Race already said it, you're an amazing person, and this doesn't change the way we think about you." Romeo said next.

"I'm so happy you're comfortable enough to tell us this." Jack said.

"That wasn't so bad was it?" Albert asked.

Elmer smiled, "It wasn't, and I'm so happy I told you all."

A/N: Wow, I'm so sorry this chapter took me an eternity to get out. Life happened. But hopefully, I'll be getting chapters out a little more frequently.
