Frank

Zoe led them up to the top of the base where there were long-range weapons of all types. Bows and arrows and rifles were strewn all around. Frank looked at some bows and arrows and immediately wanted them.

"Take your pick but make sure everyone has one," Zoe said. Frank immediately grabbed the bows and arrows and Zoe grabbed some too. "Archery fan?"

"Yep!" Frank said.

"Mm, nice," Zoe said. "We need another one since Thalia graduated."

"She's good?" Frank asked.

"Phenomenal," Zoe replied.

Lee Fletcher walked over to the two of them and picked up some arrows and a bow. "Hey, again Zoe." He smiled at her broadly.

"Nope!" She said and walked away.

Lee sighed. "Another day, another rejection."

"Dude, why would you even try with her? She looks like she could break you in half," Frank said.

"Because she's beautiful and amazing," Lee said.

"And probably not interested," Frank said.

"If Rom-Coms have taught me anything, persistence always wins," Lee said.

"Rom-Coms have given you very bad habits," Frank said. Lee laughed and walked away to some of his friends.

Frank notched an arrow and aimed at a tree. It hit the trunk. Frank smiled. He missed his old archery targets in the backyard, also known as his grandmother's china, but trees and red spots on vests would do all right.

He sat down and waited. He watched as Piper and some other scouts went to some towers. The foot brigade was on the move, but Jason's squad hadn't moved yet. Frank didn't know why, but he trusted Jason's judgment.

Hazel paced below them with her pistol. Frank watched as Percy and Annabeth bickered in the main base, but also joked. They seemed to have grown closer for some reason but Frank didn't know why.

Frank looked down at Hazel and waved. "Hi."

She laughed and looked up. "Hi. How's the weather up there?"

"Much, much hotter than Canada," He joked.

"I'll bet. We don't get much snow in New Orleans," Hazel said.

"Oh hey, do you speak French?" Frank asked.

"Yeah, why?" Hazel asked.

"So do I!" He said excitedly. "Now Piper, you, and I all speak French!"

"Piper's very sneaky. Saying what she did to Jason in french was clever," Hazel commended.

"Very forward and smart of her," Frank said.

"What'd she say?" Jason asked.

"Not telling!" Hazel said with a laugh. She laughed a lot, Frank noted. She had a nice laugh. Flowing and natural.

"Frank," Jason said, "You'll tell me, right?"

"Nope," He said. Jason groaned and went inside.

Frank looked around the woods at all of the towers and bases and treehouses and people.

"Do you think we're winning?" Hazel asked.

"I don't know," Frank said. He couldn't see much because of all the trees. He could see the scout towers though.

Then, a high pitched sound was heard. Piper had blown her whistle. Attackers were coming/

Jason

The whistle was heard and Jason yelled for his group to advance. They ran forward, trying to reach the attacking group as fast as possible. Annabeth yelled for one of their trap setters to start setting some up near the base.

He loved this game. Fencing, shooting rifles, and running was all up his alley. Being active and athletic were some of his favorite things. From the looks of it, Percy liked it too. He was keeping pace with Jason. But his vest was a little crooked.

"Your vest is crooked," Jason said.

Percy straightened it. "Thanks, dude."

"Welcome," Jason said. In the distance, he saw some people with red vests and made everyone hide behind a rock while he surveyed them. "On my signal, fire." He watched as they walked closer, and closer, and then he yelled, "NOW!"

A volley of paintballs went towards them and splattered them. Five out of the fifteen kids got hit and started walking dejectedly to the out zone where Ms. Lupa and Chiron would give them food and lemonade. It wasn't too bad of a punishment.

Clarisse yelled for her force to charge and shoot. Jason dodged a bullet and started shooting at people. The paint was flying everywhere. Good-natured threats and shouting ensued.

Percy managed to shoot Clarisse who yelled, "I'm gonna kill you punk!"

"I can't believe I did that," Percy muttered as she ran off.

"Good job," Jason said as the rest of the squad kept firing and called for backup.

Suddenly, from behind them, a bunch of red team members started firing. The blue team started shooting at them too, but there were too many of them. Percy got shot and made his way to the out zone.

The rest of his team kept getting out leaving Jason and four others to try and fend the red team off.

Then, suddenly, the foot brigade came running with the red flag screaming, "WE WON!"

Everyone stopped and started cheering. Calypso and Leo started talking about how awesome it was. Piper climbed down from her post and whooped. The long-range folks and Annabeth came back from the base.

"How did we win?" Jason asked.

"I may or may not have sacrificed you guys so that the foot brigade could get the flag," Annabeth admitted. "The guards and long-range people defeated their own foot brigade, the part that escaped went to attack your division. That meant that two of their factions, foot brigade, and attackers, were either gone or occupied meaning only the guards and long-range people were at the base. The trap setters took out the guards and managed to avoid the long-range weapons."

"Wow," Jason said. "You thought all of that out."

"I always have a plan," Annabeth said. "If everyone was occupied with you, then we would have a chance. Come on. Let's go back to Chiron and Ms. Lupa." They herded everyone to the out zone for donuts and lemonade.
