So I've got something to tell ya'll. Yesterday, 1.09k people read this story. And I just want to say how grateful I am to you lovely, lovely readers. I've been struggling with self-esteem for a while now and knowing that there are people out there who love the things I create makes me so, so happy and has helped me so much. You guys are the coolest demigods around and I can't thank you enough. Now, without further ado, chapter 19 of A Boarding School For Troubled Teens:
Jason
Jason got his schedule and looked at it. Each grade was usually was split into two different groups. Group A and Group B. In capture the flag you could sometimes pick your own teams, sometimes Group A and Group B, and sometimes it was Boys and Girls. But the groups allowed for a lot of friendly competition.
"Alright, so what groups are everyone in?" Jason asked.
"Group A," Percy said.
"Same as Seaweed Brain," Annabeth said.
"Same as you two," Jason said.
"Same as everyone," Hazel said.
"Group A," Frank said.
"Group A," Calypso said.
"A," Leo said.
Everyone looked at Piper, expecting her to say A.
"Group B," she said sadly.
"No!" Jason said. He really wanted to share some classes with Piper.
She giggled. "I'm just messing with ya'll. I'm in group A." Aw shoot. Now I'm imposing my southern accent on my characters. Time to drink some sweet tea and use it to wash away my shame.
Jason sighed with relief. He liked to be around Piper and she made him feel really nice. She was funny and smart and just a really cool person to be around.
"Group A 13-year-olds," Chiron called, "Go with Coach Hedge. Group B 13-year-olds, go with Mr. Argus."
No one from our table was in those groups so we just kept sitting and waiting. I shot a glance at Annabeth and she nodded slightly at me. She knew our group would be separated too.
"Group A 14 and 15-year-olds, go with Ms. Lupa," Chiron said. "Group B 14 and 15-year-olds, meet with me."
Hazel, Frank, Calypso, Leo, Jason, and Piper all stood up leaving just Annabeth and Percy at the table.
"Are you guys gonna be alright?" Jason asked.
"We'll try not to kill each other," Annabeth said dryly.
Jason laughed and started to walk away with the others. Annabeth and Percy got called to go with Mr. Quinn and Grover met up with them there. They were with the 16 and 17-year-old group. This would be the second time Annabeth and himself had been split up in their classes.
"The thirteen-year-old group is usually so small that they just have one group. The 18-year olds usually graduate or stay on as teachers," Jason explained to Piper, Leo, Frank, and Hazel.
"Be nice to the seventeen-year-olds because they might become your teachers next year," Calypso said.
"That is a horrifying thought," Leo muttered as he pointed to two seventeen-year-old boys sneaking into the bathroom with small USB looking things.
"Should we tell Chiron?" Piper asked.
"Eh. It will sort itself out. Chiron is very intuitive," Jason said.
Ms. Lupa looked at all of us. "I assume you are talking about the two boys who just snuck into the bathroom with Juuls. I took note of both of them and I assure you both of them will be reported. And in the future when you see any activity like this, you will report it to the teachers."
They all nodded sheepishly and Piper muttered something about this being just like a normal school.
"Well, some of us might be tragic cases. And some of us are just troubled," Calypso said.
Ms. Lupa reached the classroom and opened the door for them. They all went to sit down together but Ms. Lupa stopped them.
"Mr. Grace," she said, referring to Jason. "Ms. Calypso. I entreat you to remember that in my class we have assigned seats. I will not have any horsing around in my classroom."
It was true. All of the desks and chairs were in evenly spaced rows and columns. Jason could see a lot of his friends' faces fall when Ms. Lupa said that they would have assigned seats.
Ms. Lupa started to assign their seats, going boy-girl, boy-girl. "Travis, Katie, Connor, Hazel, Leo, Amber, Nelson, Mariah, Jason, Piper."
Jason grinned at Piper who smiled back at him. They sat down at their desks and pulled pencils out of their pockets and put them on the little ridges on top of the desk. The two of them sat up straight in their seats.
"Adam, Kelli, Ethan, Miranda, Brett, Calypso, Frank," Ms. Lupa said. She continued with the seating chart and watched as everyone sat in their seats. Some people brought school supplies, some people had it. Jason knew that they would be given notebooks and pencils to take notes and such. The school thought that having tons of school supplies was absolutely idiotic. I mean, honestly. Do you truly need two binders, ten folders, and six notebooks? What exact purpose does it serve? One, three-subject-notebook can last you the entire year. (I'm not salty, just passionate)
Piper started to doodle on her arm with a purple pen she had brought with her. Stars and geometric shapes covered her arms and wrist. Jason watched with interest because there wasn't really anything to do while Ms. Lupa spoke.
"Alright," Ms. Lupa said. "My name is Ms. Lupa. I am the Vice-Principal and I teach English, Science, and Math. Mr. Brunner teaches Latin and Mythology, History, and Behavior. You will have me for one day, and Mr. Brunner for the next on alternating A and B days."
Chiron Brunner was Chiron's full name despite the informal one all of the students use.
"Each subject will be taught for two hours and then you will have either gym or a special course of your choice," Ms. Lupa continued. "I expect no goofing off in my class. Please inform me if you have anything such as Dyslexia and ADHD because we have programs for that. Now. Let's start with the rules. And, Ms. McLean?"
Piper looked up at Ms. Lupa. "Yes?"
"It would be extremely wise of you to stop applying ink to your skin, lest you damage your skin," she said calmly. Piper blushed and stopped coloring on herself.
If one thing was true, it was that Ms. Lupa was not someone you want to mess with.
