Jason
It was Saturday, the day of Jason's date with Piper. They had changed the day from Friday to Saturday. And now that Saturday was here, he was absolutely terrified.
"It's Saturday," Jason said that morning.
"Yep. Now go out there and be a man," Percy said. Be a MAN! WE MUST BE SWIFT AS THE COURSING RIVER! WITH ALL THE FORCE OF A GREAT TYPHOON! WITH ALL THE STRENGTH OF A RAGING FIRE! MYSTERIOUS AS THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOOOOOOOON! Gosh, dang it, me. Get a grip.
"Don't screw up," Leo chimed in.
"Have fun," Frank said.
Jason waved goodbye to everyone and started walking to the doorway of the girl's dorm. He asked Miranda to go grab Piper and Annabeth. Miranda went to go get both of them.
Annabeth was driving them to the subway station and would pick them up when they came back. Neither of them really minded because they were both extremely good friends with Annabeth and didn't mind her being the chauffer to their first date.
Two minutes later, Annabeth walked up looking sleepless and still in her pajamas. "Hi."
"Hi? You look dead."
"I feel dead but I can still drive," Annabeth said, running her fingers through her hair.
And then Piper walked up to him. "Hi."
She looked knockout gorgeous. Sure, she didn't have makeup on and was just wearing a snowboarding jacket, a white shirt, jeans, boots, and a charm bracelet. But he thought she looked beautiful.
"Hi, um, you look great," Jason said.
"Thanks. You look nice too," Piper said.
"Alright, you guys. Let's head to the parking lot before I pass out," Annabeth said groggily.
"I told you not to stay up reading," Piper chided.
"I regret everything," Annabeth agreed.
They all laughed and started walking to the car. Jason knew that without Annabeth there to break the tension things might have quickly become very awkward. He was very new to dating and such so this was his first date ever. Taking Annabeth to dances didn't count because they were just friends.
They reached the lot where Annabeth clambered into a smaller car. Jason opened the passenger door for Piper and she smirked and thanked him. Jason sat in the back where he stretched his legs out across the three seats. I always imagine Jason as this broad-shouldered six-foot giant and Percy as more of a lean and willowy elf-like form. No clue why
"So you guys are going to get food and walk through Central park?" Annabeth asked as she drove.
"Yeah," Jason replied.
"I just really want to explore the city," Piper said.
"Well it's a great city to explore," Annabeth said. "Even if it is really dirty and noisy and there's a lot of people cussing on every corner."
"Don't forget all of the homeless people," Jason said.
"My cousin runs a shelter for them so I always point them in that direction," Annabeth said as she made a turn.
"What's it called?" Jason asked.
"The Chase Space," Annabeth replied.
"That's awesome," Piper said. "Your cousin seems awesome."
"No contest, one of the most amazing human beings out there," Annabeth said. She parked the car and said, "Now you two have fun and Piper? Text me when you guys need me to pick you up."
Jason got out of the car as did Piper. They waved goodbye to Annabeth and started walking to the Subway.
"Can we both make a pact to not treat each other any differently just because we're on a date?" Piper asked.
Jason gave her a relieved smile. He liked how she was very upfront with everything. "Agreed. We got along wonderfully before and we're going to get along wonderfully now."
They both smiled and Piper snatched the glasses off of his face and put them on her own. "Hey!" Jason yelled trying to grab them. Piper spun around to get away from him and laughed.
"The glasses are mine, Clark Kent!" Piper teased.
He lunged for the glasses and Piper swiped them back. "I can't see, this is cheating," Jason said.
"Fine," Piper said with a smile and gently put the glasses back on his head.
"Thank you," Jason said.
"You're welcome," Piper said.
They both bought their tickets and waited for the subway, playing Head's Up on Piper's phone which resulted in even more laughs. One of the things Jason liked about Piper was that she just made everything funny. She did random things and didn't care. She was a rebel. Which made her almost the opposite of him. It made her strange and alluring. He guessed the saying was true: Opposites attract.
"Here's our Subway!" Piper said.
They both walked on to the Subway and managed to find two seats next to each other. The conversation drifted to their family which drifted to Piper's dad which drifted to movies and they found out both of them loved the Marvel movies.
"Thor's arc was absolutely amazing and so was Tony's," Jason said.
"Natasha Romanoff is a queen and even though I don't like Captain Marvel because she's way too over-powered and cocky, her best friend Monica is perfection," Piper said. "And Pepper and Tony's relationship is cute even if it's not particularly realistic."
The Subway stopped and they got off at their station. After some debating, they went to get gelato instead of real food at a place near Central Park. The gelato was heavenly and when they got to Central Park, they were greeted by a pleasant surprise.
"Oh heck, they're good," Jason said.
A group of hip hop dancers was dancing near the sidewalk. It was synchronized yet rough. It had an imperfect charm to it and the flips they were doing was crazy.
"Wow that is awesome," Piper said. "Do people do this a lot?"
"Yeah. Street performers are common. Welcome to New York, Piper," Jason said.
And as they watched the dancers, he felt her grab his hand. He would be lying if he said he wasn't ecstatic.
