Love Struck Delusion
Chapter 203 - The weirdest duo.
Cody's POV, An hour later.
I sat here in the living room just juggling around with my MP7 on the coffee table. Zeta was sitting next to me drying her hair and her sister was parked in the kitchen doing something with her vest. I think she was making something but I wasn't about to ask. She's been really quiet since she last came upstairs. I told her to leave the man alone. I just hope nothing went down that pissed either of them off. No need for more bad blood. But I can't imagine what might have made a change. With my attention on Pepper, I widened my eyes when Raptor came out from the basement door like a new man. He had purpose and with his vest on; he ordered me while walking out into the living room.
"Come on Cody. We got work to do. Let's get a move on."
Nodding my head, I grabbed my MP7 and stood up. Pepper and Zeta were both caught off guard as Zeta wasn't even dressed for combat. But I doubt that was the idea behind this. In a slight panic, Zeta stood up to ask.
"What's going on Raptor?"
"I found a way to get on TV but the window is closing. Cody, you good to go?"
Grabbing my hat from off the couch next to me, I put it on over my head and replied while holding my gun in my right hand.
"I'm all set boss."
Shaking his head Raptor ordered me.
"Leave the hardware. We aren't killing anyone."
I was somewhat lost now but I wasn't about to argue. Handing Zeta over my MP7 I begged her.
"Watch this for me. Thank you."
Taking my gun, Zeta questioned while looking at Raptor who was tightening his vest.
"Well wait a minute and hold up. Let me get dressed. Pepper and I will tag along."
Again Raptor stated.
"Not gonna happen. You two are staying here for this."
"Why?" Zeta then asked as her sister stopped maybe a foot behind Raptor to wait and listen to his next response. Getting somewhat angry Raptor replied.
"Why? First of all it's because I said so. Secondly, I'm not looking to draw attention just yet. Having you two walking with me is gonna bring too much heat and I'm not risking a gunfight this early on. Stay here and man the house. We'll be back in an hour or two. Cody let's go."
Nodding my head I proceeded to walk for the front door. Raptor followed and grabbed a pair of keys off a hook near the door; and as I opened it up I heard Zeta beg.
"Don't let him leave your sight Cody."
"Will do." I replied as I walked out into the heat. Raptor quickly followed and shut the door. Looking back to him I asked.
"So where to?"
Pointing left he replied.
"The car. We're making a trip into the city. You drive." He ordered me as he tossed me the keys. Somewhat excited, I replied while jogging for the car he had parked by the garage.
"Sweet. You just leave it to me."
The car Raptor had was nothing more than a four door family SUV. All brown and maybe made in the early two thousands. As I got the door open, I asked him as he walked around.
"Wife's?"
He nodded and replied while getting in.
"Yeah. It's old but it runs well."
His voice told me he was thinking of something else. As he got in, I took a swift look to the other houses just down the street. Everything was cool till I noticed a woman a house over from us. She looked confused as she watched Raptor get in the car. I kept silent as I got in but kept an eye on her. Once inside and starting the engine, I had to ask.
"You got any neighbors?"
Raptor was confused by the question and replied.
"What? Yeah I got neighbors. What of it? That's random of you to ask."
Pulling us out onto the road, I replied back with another question.
"Who lives next door?"
For a second Raptor looked back to reply.
"Friend of Alicia's. I think her name was Jen, but I'm not too sure. They used to take the kids to school together."
"She has kids?" I then wondered as he replied now more confused.
"I think she has two yeah. What's wrong?"
Cutting to the chase I replied.
"She was looking at us when we left. Gave you a big stare down before we hit the road. Call me crazy, but I'd be concerned she id'd you. Could be a problem if she leaks the info."
Raptor suddenly understood my concern and gave it a moment to sink in. After that moment he replied.
"She wouldn't have a reason to do that Cody. She was a good friend of the family and personal friend to my wife. If anything she hasn't seen me since this all started and was probably just checking me out to be sure it was even me. Not like I look the same anymore."
"What if she calls the rebellion thinking some strange dudes are taking shelter in the old Commander's home? Could be a problem if she doesn't know it's really you she saw just then."
"You want to go back and shut her up then?"
Chuckling I replied.
"Hey man I'm not that cold. I'm just saying what I think could happen. It's up to you how we play. But I'm not a fan of killing kids."
"We aren't killing her. That's the fact of it." He then stated as I nodded and quickly followed up.
"Then what do you want to do?"
Letting out a sigh as we neared the more dense parts of the city, he replied.
"Nothing. Not till we go back anyway. But trust me, she won't be an issue."
"I believe you." I joked back as he quickly laughed.
"Fuck you. No you don't."
The two of us began to laugh together and after maybe a moment or two more I replied.
"Yeah your right. Sorry. Haha."
Raptor was at least cheerful now that I got him talking a bit. But regardless I needed to ask him.
"Where the fuck am I going anyway? You make the mistake in letting me drive. I've never been in this city before. First time driving here."
Nodding Raptor replied.
"Make the next left. That road will lead us downtown. The place we're looking for is located dead center. Tallest building in the city. Can't miss it." As I made the left, I looked forward to immediately see the building. How couldn't you? It had to be thirty stories up. Pretty big for this kind of city. Small compared to others in the states or China but still. With my sights clear going forward, I asked him next.
"What's there?"
As I looked over I saw him loading a clip into his Glock. But keeping the conversation going he replied.
"Main source of TV and media alike. That building runs just about everything that goes on air. Now chances are the rebellion has taken it over. Forcing certain programs to air over others and what have you. I'm gonna go in and see if I can find someone who's willing to get a camera rolling."
In utter confusion now I questioned.
"You made me leave my MP7 back there when you knew this was going to be a shit show? Ain't no way in hell we're just gonna walk in if they have it secured."
Nodding Raptor replied.
"You make the mistake now in thinking you're walking in at all."
"Huh?" I muttered as he urged me.
"Just get us there. I'll tell you the rest when I can see what's going on."
"Okay?" I replied in concern as I was beginning to see how much trouble this could turn into now. This was already getting me worried, but regardless I did my job and got us to the building. Pulling up to the nearest curb which happened to be across the street from the main entrance, I stopped the car to look out the window and see more than a few rebellion soldiers guarding the doors. They were all armed with rifles and you could see more inside just waiting as people were just crowding the halls going from room to room. It looked busier in there than a mall during black Friday. Looking back to Raptor who put his Glock behind his back and under his shirt I asked him now seeing as this was truly going to be impossible to get through without shooting someone.
"You see that? How the fuck are you planning to get in there without trouble?"
Fixing his shirt he replied.
"Just watch."
My eyes widened as he opened his door to get out. Reaching over to grab his arm, I questioned.
"Wait what's the plan?!"
Looking back to me he replied.
"You stay here and wait. I'll be back. Trust me. If anyone asks what you're doing here; you just tell them you're waiting to pick your brother up from work here. Got it?"
"You fucking mad?" I asked him as he got out to shut the door and proceeded to walk across the street. My eyes were wide open in a loss for what to do. He was going to have half the army down here in two minutes. Unsure if I could physically sit here and wait for shit to fly, I watched as he made it to the other side of the road. No one was looking at him. The guards at the entrance just continued to chat as Raptor was soon at least five feet out from them. I was waiting for the sudden outburst to happen, but my mind lost all sense of reality as he walked right through the door without even opening it. He even crossed through one of the soldiers as he did it. Letting out a small chuckle, I soon figured out what was going on and whispered as he was soon parting the seas with the crowd inside the building.
"I must have forgotten that this fucking mad man wasn't a normal person. I guess he can do something like that. Fuck me for being worried he'd be seen by someone. Guess I'm just an idiot."
With Raptor gone, I questioned now why I could see him that whole time and no one else could? He had to know something I didn't because now I feel special.
"Knock! Knock!"
Jumping in my seat, I swung my head back to see a rebellion soldier knocking on the trunk to get my attention. A much younger looking blue hedgehog and I was still in utter loss for words as he approached my window to ask with a rifle in hand.
"What are you doing here kid? You know this isn't a good spot to just sit and jerk off right?" Finding my tongue I replied to the guy as he couldn't have been older than me.
"Kid? Wait how old are you now?"
Giving me this annoyed look he replied back.
"Fuck does it matter to you packie? What are you doing parked out here? You know this building is under rebellion control? You're asking to get shot."
"Hey now man hold the phone. Don't be calling me a packie. I'm just here to pick up my brother. He works there. Should be out in a bit so relax. Do I even look like trouble?"
"No you look like an idiot wearing that fucking hat in this heat. I don't care if your brother works here, you find somewhere else to park."
"Insulting my hat? Well shit you know anywhere that could be?" I then asked as I played along with the fucker as best as I could without causing too much trouble. Lifting up his rifle slightly he replied in anger.
"I don't know but that isn't here. Get your ass moving before I have to call you in."
"Call me in? Listen kid let me talk to you for a minute. You look like you need a friend. Let me help."
"Fuck you." He replied as I smiled and shouted.
"I'm serious! Come here and listen!"
"How about you come here and listen packie? I'm about an inch from beating your ass into the pavement anyway."
Giving him this smile, I opened my door and stepped out. He had to be an inch taller than me. As I shut the door I leaned up against the ride to say to him.
"Stop calling me a fucking packie. What the fuck are you? Your voice isn't middle eastern either. So do you have any right to be calling me out for being Irish?"
This dude was a hedgehog same as Raptor, but I could tell he was trying to bullshit me. Ain't no way he's all native. Giving me a sigh he replied to my question.
"I'm part Russian and part German."
"Okay so we live nearby one another. We can get along for a few minutes."
"We don't live anywhere close together you dumb fuck." He replied as I began to laugh.
"Doesn't mean we can't get along. Come on let's talk. You like Pokemon?" I asked him as I soon had him looking at me cross eyed. Whatever Raptor's plan was required time. I'd have to buy some for him.
Raptor's POV.
This place was massive but I knew who to see and where to go thanks to some help I had before leaving home. Once at the right floor, I proceed to go to her office. With everyone in the building unaware I had even entered, I soon stopped before a small wood door. The sign on it read.
"Jenny Young."
Taking a second to make sure I was dressed up right, I proceeded to knock.
"Knock! Knock! Knock!"
Thankfully no one was around at the moment and she came to the door in a matter of seconds asking from behind it's frame.
"What is it? I just got that report and….!?" Opening the door was this small white rabbit. Surprisingly wearing to me what looked like a soldier's uniform and a much smaller battle harness. Her hair was a wreck with what looked like sweat; and unsure of just how busy she was, I wondered with a small smile.
"Should I come back later?"
At first the rabbit was stumped with what was going on. Her eyes were giving me this dumbfounded look and as she picked up on my much larger appearance, she asked as if lost by how to react.
"What are you doing here?"
Her eyes went from me and to the hallway in a matter of seconds. Almost to instantly rest back on me; she asked in confusion.
"Wait, how did you get into the building? I thought the Rebellion was….?"
All the sudden the woman panicked and jumped forward to grab me by the hands. Trying to drag me forward she begged.
"Come in here before someone sees you!"
Once she had me in her office, the rabbit shut the door and locked it behind her. She had about as much energy as Raze did when we first met. Running back over and getting right in front of me, I looked at the state of her office being covered in nothing but newspapers and camera equipment. Once my eyes had rested back down on her smaller size, she asked to be absolutely certain who it was she had before her.
"Raptor Voltz? Ex-Commander to the rebellion military?"
"Same one." I replied as she jumped in place to shout in a super happy voice.
"Oh my god, holy fucking shit! What the hell are you doing here; of all places!?"
This rabbit was easily two feet smaller than me. The top of her head was leveled with the base of my chest as I replied kindly.
"I was hoping to talk with you. Glad you were in."
She was completely uncertain by my answer. But her energy was mind boggling as she began to run around the room frantic. As if searching for something. I remained where I was by the door as she soon reached under a crumpled newspaper to lift up a camera. I let out a very low chuckle as she came running back over faster than any recruit I've ever had to train. With the camera in her left hand; she finally replied in a voice that was trying to get calmer by the second. I sensed she was more concerned with her appearance then anything. Next up to bat was still just the thought of me being right in front of her.
"Talk?! With me?! Oh my god you have no idea what you just did to me you big brained bastard!"
"I have a good idea." I told her back as she began to circle me. Her eyes looked me over as she was now silent doing her inspection. After three or so turns around me, the rabbit stopped to question.
"You look like you're in good health! No one gave you trouble getting up here?!"
"Let's not say that. Let's just say no one gave me trouble because they didn't see me come up here."
"You must be a wizard then! The whole building is under rebellion control!" She replied as she came up really close to look at my eyes. I was legitimately looking down at her as she was on her tippy toes. For maybe ten seconds she stared at me, then asked while backing down.
"So you came to talk to me?! That's crazy! Wow your eyes are gorgeous!"
"Yeah." I chuckled as she added.
"If anything I've been wanting to talk to you! Actually I think everyone wants to talk to you, but up till now you've been hiding! For good reason to! Oh my god what am I doing!? Please Commander, take a seat over here!" She begged me as I watched her jump around to find a chair. Finding a small black folding chair under another pile of papers, she came sprinting over to try her best and open it up right behind me. Taking it gently from her small hands, I urged her.
"I got it."
"Okay!" She replied as she watched me sit down. Once in my seat, she began to look for another one. This woman was in a panic. Still shocked by my presence as she asked herself while going behind her rather small desk.
"Where is it!? I'm so sorry Commander! I'll be there in a moment!"
I kept on chuckling to myself. I couldn't believe how she was. In time she found another chair and came right back to where I was. Her hands fumbled both it and the camera and as she finally managed to sit down; she couldn't sit still. She was shaking. With our eyes soon reconnecting once again, she asked me in a shaky voice.
"I have a lot to ask you sir! Is that okay?!"
Nodding my head, I watched closely as she smiled and her right ear flopped down over her right eye. She quickly threw her head back to shout.
"Stupid thing! Okay! Now where to begin!?"
The camera got her full focus now as she debated what to do next. This was going to be rough.
mT Shadow.
