"March. I can't believe it's March. The school year is practically over," Leo said to Jason as they ran through the woods.
The snow had melted and Capture the Flag was in full swing. Annabeth and Percy usually were co-captains nowadays but Jason didn't mind. At least, that's what he told everyone. Leo could see he was a little miffed that Percy was steadily replacing Jason as Annabeth's best friend.
"Just three more months and we're done," Jason said as they ran.
"I should probably work up the courage to ask Calypso to the end of year dance," Leo muttered.
"You guys would definitely be cute," Jason agreed.
Leo laughed. "Is Piper rubbing off on you?"
"You couldn't tell?" Jason asked. "Yesterday I actually started shipping Katie Gardener and Travis Stoll mentally."
"Love goddess Piper McLean. Infecting the minds of her boyfriend since yesterday," Leo said as if he were reading a news headline.
"Would both of you be quiet? We'll be caught!" Hazel said, shushing both of them.
"Stealth mission mode, activated," Leo whispered.
They crept up to the red team's base, waiting for the perfect time to ambush. Annabeth had directed them there saying that Leo was stealthy, Hazel was smart, and Jason was brute force. They were a perfect team for a stealth ambush.
Suddenly, Leo heard the sound of a paintball gun firing and a spot of red appearing on Jason's vest. He looked down and groaned. "Godspeed, Leo and Hazel," and he jogged over to the dead zone.
Leo and Hazel immediately started firing at the guy and Hazel landed a shot square on his chest. He sighed and walked to the dead zone yelling, "Sadie! Save me a glazed donut!"
"Sorry, Carter!" Hazel yelled to him.
"It's cool, Hazel!" Carter yelled back.
Hazel and Leo continued with their sneak attack, Leo making snarky comments while Hazel shushed him. The two of them managed to take out two border guards and one scout who was running back to tell the red team about something. But sadly, Hazel was taken out by Reyna and Leo by Clarisse.
The two of them walked over to the dead zone where they greeted Jason, Nico, and Will. Leo got a maple-bacon donut and Hazel got a powdered sugar one. Leo noticed that Nico and Will were holding hands and almost choked on his donut.
"Wait-you're-what-huh?" Leo sputtered.
"I'm emo," Nico said in a deadpan voice.
"And gay," Will said with a grin. "Got a problem with that Leo?"
"No! No problem. Just a little surprised but I'm happy for you guys," Leo said.
"Good," Will said.
Hazel rolled her eyes at Leo and kept eating her donut. Jason had flicker of a smile on his face as he watched Nico and Will as if he were watching his two kids at their college graduation from Harvard.
Soon, they heard cheers from the red team and everyone on the Blue team in the dead zone groaned. The red team had one and Clarisse and Chris ran over to the dead zone with the blue flag in their hands. The red team got celebration donuts as the blue team consoled themselves with the same donuts. Annabeth and Percy walked to the dead zone hand in hand followed by Piper, Calypso, and Frank.
"Well, we lost," Percy said.
"Yeah, we did," Annabeth said. "But it was a fun game."
"What happened to your leg, Percy?" Leo asked, pointing to the bandage on his knee.
"Fell out of a tree," Percy explained. "Got a big gash."
"I told him not to climb the tree," Annabeth said. "I told him he would fall out of the tree. And what does he do? He climbs the tree."
"I was getting a better view!" Percy protested.
They both grabbed some donuts and they all had a pity party for their loss. In the end, they didn't really mind. The teams were often very evenly matched and the blue team had won a lot of games otherwise.
Calypso ate her chocolate donut and Leo noticed the little bit of chocolate frosting on her nose. He had thought she couldn't get any cuter but she managed to do it even though her hair was all messy from running and sweat glistened on her face.
"You have chocolate on your nose," Leo said with a grin.
She wiped the chocolate off of her nose and swiped it on Leo's cheek. "No I don't."
Leo grinned. "Well I stand corrected, sunshine."
"Still keeping up with that nickname, repair boy?" Calypso said with an eye roll. The seven of them had started calling him repair boy ever since he started helping Beckendorf out in the machine shop. To be honest, he didn't really mind. It gave him an excuse to bug Calypso with his nicknames for her.
"Hasn't anyone ever told you you're cute when you're annoyed?" Leo said. "I'd say that's a pretty good reason to keep up with the nickname."
"Smooth, Leo," Percy said with a chuckle.
Calypso smirked. "Well I'm flattered but you still have chocolate on your face."
"It's part of the charm," Leo said with a wink.
"Great first we had Piper and Jason acting all lovey dovey and then Annabeth and Percy then Nico and Will and now these two," Hazel said with a dramatic sigh. She turned to Frank and said, "Frank you have to promise me you won't get a girlfriend or boyfriend. I couldn't stand anymore cuteness."
Frank laughed a little awkwardly. "Sure thing, Hazel. Not like I was planning on it or anything."
She grinned. "Good. I need a single friend to commiserate with. Now are we going inside or staying out here? Speak now or forever hold your peace!"
And with that they all trooped back to the house with it's blue shutters and gorgeous architecture that they had come to call home.
Sorry I'm taking so long to upload. School's trying to kill me and I need to catch up on reading the shadowhunters chronicles. I might join the fandom and write some fics for it, Idk. But I'm busy nonetheless.
