Annabeth
Annabeth was sitting by a tree reading a book when she heard the sound of wheels rolling on the pavement. Without looking up she said, "Hey Percy."
"How do you always know its me?" Percy complained as he stopped his skateboard.
"Because of your skateboard. I knew that the minute the weather got warmer you would break it out," Annabeth said. "Now sit there and do something else I need to concentrate on this reading assignment and I don't need you distracting me."
"Distracting am I?" Percy asked with a grin. He wiggled his eyebrows and struck a seductive pose.
Annabeth laughed, closed her book, and walked over to him, ignoring her English assignment. He put his arm around her and kissed the top of her head.
"Gods I can't believe we're actually dating," Percy said with a sigh.
Annabeth laughed. "Percy, you're such a sap."
"Blame Quill and Gamora," Percy retorted. "Now, I came here for a very specific reason."
She suddenly felt his arms wrap around her waist and lift her up onto the skateboard just as he stepped off of it. "I'm gonna teach you how to skateboard."
That was really not what she expected. But the more she thought about it, the more appealing the idea seemed. Besides, she was teaching him how to drive and if he taught her how to skateboard they would be even.
"Well this is unexpected but I'm excited to learn," Annabeth said. "Alright how do I do this?"
"First you have to work on your stance. So you put your left foot on the front of the board and your right foot on the ground. I'll hold your hand in case you fall. Now push off slowly with your right foot."
Annabeth pushed off shakily and rolled for a little bit before the board came to a stop. "Percy, I can keep my balance. You don't need to hold my hand."
"But I'm so rarely useful to you and I would like to be just this once," Percy said as he batted his eyelashes and pouted.
She burst out laughing. "Seaweed Brain, you're adorable. Fine, you can help me out."
"Great. Now keep pushing off with your foot until you get good momentum and then I'll show you the rest," Percy said with a grin.
Again she pushed off with her foot as Percy held her hand. Soon she was rolling along and tried to put her foot on the board, losing her balance in the process. Percy caught her by her arm.
"See? It was absolutely necessary for me to hold your hand," Percy said triumphantly.
"You're so soft," Annabeth said with a grin.
"So I still need to teach you your stance on the board," Percy said.
Two hours later, Annabeth had the basics down and could ride pretty fast on her own. Of course, tricks were hard to learn and Percy hadn't taught her any yet because they didn't have any ramps.
Now Annabeth was against the tree with her book for English class with Percy's head in her lap. He would play with the ends of her hair and hum Led Zepplin songs to himself, patiently waiting for her to finish struggling through the book.
"I freaking hate dyslexia," Annabeth groaned.
Percy nodded against her stomach. "You and me both. But you're so smart, Wise Girl. I know you can do it."
Annabeth sighed and leaned her head against the tree. Percy had so much faith in her. He thought she could do no wrong. And it really scared her. Because when people look up to you, they don't realize you could fly so high and leave them in the clouds.
Whoever this Mrs. Hera was, the scholarship she granted to the Elysium school would be a one way ticket to success for both Annabeth and Jason. They hadn't told anyone about it yet, but here was Percy. Humming off-key, playing with her hair, waiting patiently. He taught her how to skateboard and she taught him how to drive. He was her favorite person and he deserved the truth.
"Percy, do you remember when Chiron called Jason and I to the office?" Annabeth asked.
He scrunched up his nose. "I vaguely remember something like that happening."
Annabeth nodded. "His old colleague, Mrs. Hera, had heard about us through Chiron. She lives in California, by a school. The Elysium Gifted School to be exact. And she's offered Jason and I full rides there if we accept. Percy, there's an architecture program. It has one one of the highest college acceptance rates in the country and even though it'd just be my senior year it'd still be kind of amazing."
"Kind of amazing? Wise Girl, that's awesome!" Percy said with a smile.
"Yeah it really is!" she said with a smile. "But then I'd have to leave everyone here and all of my friends and, well, you."
"Aw, would you miss me Annabeth?"
She flicked him on the forehead. "And the teachers and Chiron and Ms. Lupa. You're not so special."
"You're right, I'm not so special. I'm secretly a waterbender from the Southern Water Tribe," Percy said with a grin.
Annabeth smiled right back at him and leaned down to kiss him when she heard someone clearing her throat. They looked up at the person who cleared their throat and saw it was Chiron with three men in suits.
"Um, Percy. I'll be needing you in my office soon. Whenever you two are done, um, talking," Chiron said uncomfortably. The man with a pinstripe suit and the one with the pure black suit. However the man with a blue suit stayed back.
"That your girlfriend?" he asked.
"Yes," Percy said.
The man smiled. "Be good to her."
"Yes sir," he said, smiling back.
The man followed Chiron, sea green eyes twinkling with joy.
See you in the next chapter guys!
