Both girls now found themselves at gun point. When the police officer asked them what they were doing they explained they were just having fun prank calling.
Karen said "we found out how to get into the mayor's office and we're hanging out."
The angry police officer put his gun back in his holster and told them "by being here you're both guilty of breaking and entering."
Trish yelled "we didn't break anything though."
"I'm Officer Dale Platter and I'm going to explain to you what the crime of breaking and entering means."
Officer Platter took a deep breath then spoke "in this case you two have entered the mayor's office illegally. I have to arrest both of you for breaking and entering."
Karen yelled out "oh my God my parents are going to kill me."
Officer Platter smiled and gently took Karen's hand. "You'll be safe in my custody from any abuse or cruelty. Handcuffs will not hurt I promise."
He slowly pulled out a pair of handcuffs and locked the first link around Karen's right hand. Then he ordered her to place her hands behind her back which she did immediately and Officer Platter finished cuffing her.
Then Officer Platter signaled Trish to come over beside Karen. Trish walked over calmly and was handcuffed beside her back. The officer asked both girls for their names.
"Karen James McCormick"
"Trish Thomas Tucker"
When asked for the names of their parents and addresses the girls did not hesitate to give the police officer that information.
Laura Tucker got a phone call from a man claiming to be Officer Platter and he said he had her daughter and her daughter's friend in his custody at the mayor's office because they entered illegally.
Laura yelled out "holy shit is this a joke?"
Officer Platter yelled "no but they were making prank calls on the mayor's office telephone."
Laura yelled "neither one of them should have been in there. May I talk to my daughter?"
Officer Platter told Trish "your mom wants to talk to you" and then he put the telephone to her ear.
Laura was frantic and yelled "Trish are you there?"
Trish answered "mom I'm getting arrested and I made a big mistake."
Laura asked "what are you doing in the mayor's office? How the hell did you get in?"
Trish answered "the way Karen and I got in was by guessing a code and we made a lucky guess. After that I prank called my brother and Tweek. My brother told me I should get out of the mayor's office or I could get in trouble and I wish I'd listened to him."
Laura yelled "well shit Trish I wish you had listened to him to because now you and Karen are both going to juvenile hall. Your brother is at the fair and so were you but you decided to drift off from the fair and do something fucking stupid. Goddamn it what is wrong with you?"
Trish started crying over the phone.
Laura yelled "I'm going to get in touch with your brother so he knows you've been arrested. As for Karen do her parents have a phone?"
Trish answered "call Craig and tell him to call Stan or Kyle because they're friends of Karen's brother Kenny. Then Kenny can go from there."
Laura said "okay I'll do that but put the police officer back on the phone."
Officer Platter got back on the phone and Laura told him that she would call her son who would get in touch with Karen's brother because she believed Karen's parents didn't have an at phone home.
Officer Platter said "oh my well I'll talk with Karen but let me tell you now that Karen along with your daughter are going straight to the South Park jail where they will be charged and held until Monday morning when they see the judge in Park County Juvenile Court.
I have to hang up now and talk to Karen about getting in touch with her family. Please if you can do so for me that would help."
Laura said "yes officer I'll do what I must. Goodbye."
Laura hung up and tears came down her eyes like a waterfall.
Thomas yelled "what's this about our daughter getting arrested?"
