Love Struck Delusion
Chapter 232 - One more.
Ying's POV, A few hours later.
The time was now for me to leave this place. I made the mistake in coming here and Jessup was right all along. I never should have gotten involved. I should have waited. By now I knew my boy was dead. He would have come back to us by now and he was never the type to go into hiding. He was dead and I just wanted to know how. However Voltz was probably the only man left who could really answer that one and Archer had crossed the line one too many times. Jin didn't deserve that. Not him and unlike half of the others I surrounded myself with, Jin was always the brightest and the most honest. Others couldn't hold a candle as my advisor. Archer will feel my power crumble under his feet. I gave my men the order to start refusing rebellion orders. I gave them their choice of just being able to sensely kill rebel troops, or come back home with me tonight by meeting at the extract I sent out. I'd see how many chose what soon enough.
I kept myself locked down in the room I was forced to stay in, but Archer wanted to keep an eye on me. He has two men on my door watching and I had no way out. What's worse is I was supposed to be gone about an hour ago. Jessup was sending his best to come aid in my escape, but I planned on getting outside at some point. Of course what was going on with me was getting reported to Jessup himself. From there he was talking to his operative. He since then told me to lay low and keep quiet. Don't cause trouble and just wait. Which I was doing very well at.
But sitting here was worrying me. Archer wasn't going to let me walk around freely anymore. Not after that. I wouldn't be surprised if he just kills me, or does something worse. I was useless to him. Unless he wanted to ransom me to China, but I doubt they would pay that price now.
"Tap! Tap!"
I never moved so fast in all my life. The sound came from the only window I had in the room. It connected onto nothing as far as I knew, but when my eyes began to refocus all I saw was this fox looking back at me with one arm visible. He made his patches known and once my mind registered it was Jessup's man; did I panic and head on over. I got right to work on opening up the window and thank god it was quiet. The guards wouldn't hear shit hopefully. Staring at this gray and gold fox, I listened as he asked.
"Hai Ying?"
Giving him a smile I replied.
"If it wasn't then this would be very awkward."
The fox was on something. He wasn't just standing there. He had to be hanging. Maybe the reason I couldn't see the other arm. Going down a few inches he urged me.
"There's a pipe right here on the left side of the window. Climb on out and follow me. Patrol just left and we need to be quick. Our ride's waiting."
I wasn't going to wait around, so I just got right to work and out the window as fast as I could. He really did just climb the side of the building to reach me. Once I was out there in the open and we had touched solid ground, did our eyes look to one another for one more time. His tone was very calm as he said.
"I came in from right over there where the fence is weak. We're going back out the same way and once we're on the street you need to get in the car as fast as you can. If we get seen we'll have the army down here in less than a minute."
Seeing that there was a fence just around the back where the junkyard was, I replied while following him forward.
"Do you have a plan for that? Because you are completely right."
Nodding his head as we got moving he replied.
"I do, but you need to stick close during it."
The fox was wearing some heavy looking gear. I was judging him as I followed. He was just a small fox and wearing all that had to be the opposite of what being able to move freely should be. Following him as we made our way to the fence he spoke of, I watched closely as he got it open and urged me.
"Go."
I shoved myself through as fast as I could. My leg was still shot and recovering after my fight with Archer, but I had enough to keep going. Nothing was keeping me inside that building any longer.
When I squeezed out onto the street, I began to look around. Seeing a smaller car just across the other side of the street, I waited till the fox had gotten through before asking.
"Is that it?"
He shook his head to reply.
"No. We parked on the other side of the block. Didn't want to make all that noise rolling up here."
"Shit." I mumbled as we began to run across the street. The fox was still faster than me in all that gear and as we made it to the other side of the street we heard someone shout.
"Hey! Hold it!"
I looked back for a second to see one of the rebellion guards up on the wall yelling at us. The fox came back to grab me and by then I saw them coming. Now stuck to my side the fox said.
"That's our queue to get a move on."
Time was now agisnist us, but I doubt that one soldier saw just who we were. They'd send a few guys to pursue, but it wouldn't take long for them to figure it out. Once we were halfway through an alley, I watched as the fox went to cover the rear. I came out onto the next road to be cut off by another car. This one running. Upon stopping my feet, I watched as the driver popped out to look at me and ask.
"We got company?"
At first I was caught off guard. The guy was a bird of all species and never in my life have I seen a bird in the combat field. The fox behind me came up to my side to reply.
"Three tangos. Get in the car sir. We're leaving."
"Who are you guys?" I asked as I got the back door open for myself. As I got in the fox took the passenger side and replied.
"Cody. I'm the one who called you."
Once he was in, the bird took the wheel and said with a heavy american accent.
"And I'm Peek. Shader industries. Nice to meet ya Hai Yin, but we got to go like my buddy said. Strap in."
I took his advice and got my seatbelt on. Once in, he hit the gas and off down the road we went. Cody kept his eyes on the path behind us and I was sure we had gotten away. Those kids were on foot and I doubt they would be following.
"We lost the guards." Cody stated as I nodded and added.
"We did but this city is heavily defended. Archer has patrols out everywhere. It's going to be swarmed from here to my extraction."
Peek smiled as Cody looked forward to reply.
"We got that covered."
I was confused for a second, but my eyes widened as Cody pulled out a detonator from his vest. With a faint whistle he set it off and in seconds you could hear two separate explosions go off in the distance. One sounded like it was just to our left and the other came back from the capital. In confusion, I asked as the two of them were clearly happy with whatever they just did.
"What the hell was that?"
Looking back at me the bird replied.
"Four charges of C4. Just enough to draw the attention of every rebellion soldier for blocks around."
"Actually it might draw everyone." Cody restated as I had to ask now.
"Did you hit the capital?"
Nodding he replied.
"One charge on the outside of your window and another shoved between some gas barrels in the garage just next to the main gate. It had enough around it to send the place up in smoke. So if all goes to plan…..?"
Cody pointed out the window as a rebellion truck drove right passed us going a hundred miles an hour. I followed the truck with my eyes as he finished his sentence.
"Everyone should be heading right on over to see what happened."
I was stunned. Looking at the bird I then asked.
"What was the other blast?"
Keeping his eyes on the road he replied.
"A border wall. The C4 should have opened it right up. Anyone over on that end of the city will be in a panic thinking G.U.N or the rebellion is attacking. Shouldn't be anyone looking at us now. Which way to the extract from here by the way?" He then asked me as I just remembered that was the plan.
Looking back to the fox I replied.
"Ahhhhhh…...make a left." Peek did just that as Cody asked me in concern.
"You okay? Your leg?"
I nodded and replied while covering the clearly visible wound.
"I'm fine. Goodbye present from Archer. It's been stitched up."
"Okay good." Cody mumbled as he went back to looking at the road ahead.
From there on I began to direct the road trip. Up till we reached an apartment complex. It was beat down but the plan was still in action.
"Pull over." I urged the bird as Cody questioned.
"What's the plan?"
Undoing my seatbelt, I replied while getting out.
"I should have some men here. We're close to one of the main checkpoints that defend the east gate. Together we're going to take the border and open the gate. Should be plenty of vehicles to take once we get it opened."
The two men followed, but once we reached the front door Peek stated.
"Good thing we blew some shit up then. We should have no trouble breaking through."
"Depends on what they got left." Cody added as I nodded and got us inside. The second we stepped inside we were greeted by more than a few of my men. Had to be twenty of them. Guns lowered when they saw it was me. Cody and his friend were quick to stay by the entrance as I approached one of the few officers I had left and asked.
"Sorry I was late. Any trouble? What's it like out there?"
My men were all ex military so I had no fear of their ability to fight or lead. The man I questioned replied after fixing his vest and it's straps over his chest.
"No trouble. Most of the rebel forces are gone. Only a few left and we can easily take them with our numbers. You know what happened?" He asked as I pointed back at the two men from Jessup.
"You can thank them. The distraction should give us more than enough time to get out of this fucking city. So gather everyone and let's get out there."
"Here." Said the officer as he handed me a rifle. Looking back at Cody and Peek, I told them bluntly as I made sure it was loaded.
"We're going to do this. Are you two coming?"
The pair took a few moments to talk it over, but once they were done they nodded and I gave them a smile and replied.
"You'll be paid well for this. All of you."
With my men all ready to go, I turned back for the exit where Cody and Peek were and ordered.
"Let's make this quick."
Cody's POV, a few minutes later.
This was going to be fast and I could feel it. Not a soul around the checkpoint and you could see the few who were present just up ahead. With Ying and his men all splitting up to take angles, I stuck with Peek who suggested as we were within shooting range.
"You stay here and make sure Ying stays alive? I'll handle whoever is in the control tower and get the gates opened?"
Looking at my friend, I nodded and replied.
"Don't take any chances man. Clean shots and a quicker pace."
Peek grinned and with that he began to break off. Ying saw what he was doing and looked to me to make sure it was all good. I nodded and gave him the all clear to take shots. He understood and the order was given as his men all lined up.
Peek's POV.
Shots began to rattle off as I climbed up for the control room. Being so close to the place I could hear whoever was inside panic from the sudden screams of bullets just outside their walls. With my rifle up and at the ready, I ducked to the side of the exit and watched as it opened up with three rebellion troops running out with their guns at the ready. Running right by me, I took my shots.
"Toof! Toof! Toof!"
It was as clean as I could hope for. Right to left I popped each one as they ran right in the back of the head. The bodies tumbled over the wall or off to the ground inside the checkpoint. In speed, I turned into the control room to spot another rebel by a set of computers.
"Toof!"
Dropping him and turning to my right, I saw a small set of stairs and locked my eyes with this fully armored bear who was just coming up from the ground floor. I hesitated at first glance. I had no clue what kind of gear that was. The helmet alone was fully covering his whole head and face and I swear we were both surprised to see one another cause we both froze for a second. However my sights were on him and once I regained my composure I opened fire hitting him with two direct rounds. One in the chest and the other hit the helmet right on the nose. By then the guy fell back down the stairs and I took my chance to run for the top.
As I came to the top of the stairs, I widened my eyes when a series of rounds got sent up at me by another rebel trooper who was down there with the armored freak who was struggling to get up.
I failed to pull away fast enough. I felt it as a round clipped me in my right shoulder. The force was enough to drag me into a spin as I vacated my position.
"Ahh!" I quickly spat out as I was about to return the favor. Going to my belt, I grabbed onto a custom pipe bomb I was in the process of testing before this mission ended up in my lap. The model was simple. Just a basic fragmentation round stuffed with nails. I got tired of shrapnel not killing people and decided nails would be more than effective at slicing through armor. Hitting a small red button on the top of the pipe, I finished my spin by tossing the pipe right back down onto the fuckers shooting me. The fuse was designed to be extremely short. Not a moment after the pipe had bounced down on top of them did I hear it pop off and a bunch of screams and aches.
Looking at my shoulder to see it was bleeding, I gritted my teeth and regained my posture.
Peaking back down the steps with my rifle up, I kept my eyes laser focused as I saw that bear down for the count. Nails were all over his body and the helmet was totaled with three others stuck in it's faceplate. Heading down, I scanned left to find there were three other men down here. All of them were stuck with nails and each tried to crawl away. One picked up his rifle and by then I fired off the finishing rounds.
"Toof! Toof! Toof!"
With the soldiers dead, I saw the gate controls tucked just beyond the next room. Quickly I walked over and flipped the switch. The gate I could hear opening, so as fast as I came I went to leave. When I came back out I found Cody with Ying and the very few others getting loaded up into humvees. I came down right away to join them. Cody saw my shoulder and asked as I hopped in next to him in the back of one of the trucks.
"You good?"
I nodded and got my venom working. Peek watched as my eyes went red and the round came out and the wound had sealed. Once I felt it finish, I turned myself back off and began to stretch it out. As I did I replied to my fox friend.
"I'm good man. Just got caught off guard. You should have seen it."
"A lot of them?"
"Like six or seven, but nah man one of those dudes was this bear. He was wearing some serious gear. Armor out of place for a bunch of middle eastern rebels if you ask me."
"He dead?" Cody then asked as I nodded and handed him one of my few remaining pipe bombs.
"Fuck ya he's dead. Gave him one of those. Click it. Lock it. Put it in your pocket. These fuckers ring. He wasn't ready for it."
Cody looked at the nails and replied.
"Fucking ruthless little shit this is Peek. Ain't nobody ready for a wave of nails to hit them."
I chuckled as we got moving. Ying was in the back with us as his men drove. As we got onto the sand Ying ordered.
"Head to the secondary and we'll meet up with the ride home."
"What now sir?" Cody asked as it was clear our job was nearing its end.
Ying took a moment to breathe but soon replied.
"We're meeting up with one of my pilots. From there we'll be splitting up into two groups. I still have some business in the middle east and I'd like to offer you two some extra funds in exchange for coming along for the trip. It shouldn't be a fight like that."
I was all for more money at this point so I asked next.
"What would that be sir?"
Ying looked at me and replied while feeling his chin.
"I need to talk with the other half of the rebellion and their leader. You probably know the guy."
"Voltz?" I wondered as he nodded and went on to state.
"He hopefully can answer a few questions I have. Questions that got me into this mess in the first place. Hope is they won't be hostile and Voltz would be willing to talk to me. I'm done with this war and once I talk to him; I plan to go back home. So what do you say? You want to tag along? I can pay you two extra. Say three million?"
Cody looked to me to question.
"So one point five for me and one point five for you?"
I nodded and told him.
"I'm cool with that. You?"
Cody nodded and Ying smiled. It would only be a matter of time now till we were in the sky and thanks to Cody this was the easiest chunk of cash I have ever made. All I had to do was keep quiet about Cody's already in place affair. This is why it's nice to complain once in a while.
