Unrest

Summary: After hearing reports from the queen that something mysterious has been going on in East London, Sebastian and Ciel go to investigate, but what they find proves to be overpowering, and Ciel's fate changes forever.

Chapter One: His Mate

Sebastian Michaelis was certain of one thing.

His mate was close.

He could feel himself changing physically and mentally. He has begun experience what humans would call emotions, and unfortunately that included crankiness. His master seemed to have picked up on it, as well as the other staff in the Phantomhive Manor, and had requested him to see him in the office this afternoon.

Sebastian trudged up the stairs. There were far more important things to be doing than listening to his master berate him. He wanted to finish reading a book that he had found some interest in, and to contrary belief he was not neglecting his duties! He was just…taking an off day. Sebastian knocked twice on the door, and his master's deep voice allowed him to enter. Sebastian approached Ciel with his face masked, but for some reason his heart wouldn't stop racing in his chest.

Is this what anxiety feels like? Sebastian thought as he stood in front of his master's desk. Speaking of his master. Ciel had grown up to be a very attractive twenty-four year old man with scruff that needed to be shaved, and smaller more shaper eyes than his doe ones he used to have. He had been working out recently and had grown some muscles and definition across his body. And Ciel had reached a height that surpassed Sebastian if by a few inches. Sebastian couldn't stop himself from looking over Ciel. He was grateful that Ciel was more intrigued by the paper in front of him than Sebastian's eyes.

"You've been…strange lately." Ciel finally spoke. Sebastian shifted, and brought his hands behind his back. "You've also been neglecting your duties. This is the sixth time today that I found you in my library. I thought demons didn't read."

"We read." Sebastian snapped causing Ciel to finally look at him. Sebastian straightened. "I apologize, Master, but I haven't been feeling the best lately. It seems mating season is approaching, and I feel as though my mate is…close."

"Mate?" The bite in Ciel's words made Sebastian's heart skip, but the look in Ciel's eyes made him want to shrink underneath his gaze. "You have a mate?"

"I believe so," Sebastian said then sighed. "This is my first time mating, so I don't really know where or who he or she is. I'm the youngest one in my family, and so mating season really never affected me. Unfortunately, I've come of age and now the effects are…ghastly." Sebastian could feel his cheeks heat. "I'm not used to…emotions. I know that demons are supposed to only feel emotions near their mate, but I don't even know who or what they are."

"Interesting," Ciel said then turned back to his paper. "So, are we going to have to worry about stray demons coming." Sebastian's eyes widened. He looked down.

"If I don't find my mate soon then…that could be a problem." Sebastian whispered. Ciel glanced at him.

"Such as?"

"My mother told me that when my sister didn't have a mate yet demons all over the Underworld showed up at their doorstep. Demons are known to not care about consent, so my father had to take over the roll of her mate and protect her from being…raped." Sebastian said then looked down again. "I don't have my family here, so it's up to me to protect myself."

"You said he or she? How is mating with a man possible?" Ciel said. He leaned back in his chair and put the quill back in the holder. Sebastian flushed again, and he rubbed his arm.

"Incubus's, like myself, are known to be able to mate with both sexes. If an incubus's mate is a male then their body will change physically, and if it's a female they'll be more inclined to search after her. I'm sure mine is a male considering my body has been changing, and I'm beginning to suspect that he's close." Sebastian said. Ciel frowned. "I just don't know where." Ciel crossed his legs and tapped his fingers against it. Sebastian could feel his mood change under Ciel's gaze, and he stammered. "I—I think I've discussed everything." Sebastian bowed. "I would like to return to my room."

Ciel frowned but waved him off. Sebastian sped to his room and leaned his head against the door. He inhaled then exhaled slowly. What the hell is wrong with me?
