Since the first night Cookie moved in with Lucious they took the next step in their relationship. And have been going at it in between their outings it's been a month and a while after her dad had a heart attack and died lucky for Candace and Carol they graduated high school.
Cookie for her part has been adjusting but she missed her period and has been throwing up and feeling odd.
"Hey, Cookie why don't you lay down you've been throwing up a lot lately," Lucious said.
"Lucious I think I'm pregnant I've missed my period." Cookie replied.
"I'll get some pregnancy tests we're gonna have to move out of here this isn't exactly a place to raise a baby," Lucious said.
"Okay, but what are we gonna do if I'm pregnant Lucious we have barely gotten off the ground." Cookie replied.
"Baby I told you I got us when I come back with the pregnancy tests and the other things you're going to need we will figure this all out," Lucious said.
"Okay, Lucious." Cookie replied as she ran to the bathroom to throw up again.
Lucious looked at Cookie briefly and then drove off to a drug store and got some things for nausea.
A little while later Lucious returned Cookie was laying on the bed with a wet towel on her forehead.
"Here baby I got you the pregnancy test and this should help with nausea when you're up to it you can take the tests and I'll take you to a walk-in clinic to confirm it and we'll work this out. Also, I think it's time we start looking for a bigger place I don't think this is a good enough place to raise a baby." Lucious said.
"I think your right it's enough with just us but I can't picture bringing a baby here not with everything it will need." Cookie replied.
Cookie took the bag of pregnancy tests and left each one on the bathroom counter.
Cookie came back out of the bathroom and went and laid back down. Placing the wet rag back on her forehead dipping in the other bag pulling out the ginger ale and crackers.
"That should calm down the vomiting baby after we find out what the pregnancy tests say we will go from there," Lucious said.
"Okay, Lucious." Cookie replied.
Lucious gets up off the bed when he thinks enough time passed he walks into the bathroom checking the tests on the bathroom counter.
"Baby they are all positive," Lucious said.
"Oh my God I'm pregnant what are we gonna do?" Cookie asked.
"Hey, don't worry everything will work out we will be okay come on get dressed we need to go to the clinic," Lucious said.
The drive to the clinic was not long at all for them Lucious and Cookie walk into the building and are seen quickly.
"Hi, I'm doctor Brooks what seems to be the trouble?" Dr. Brooks asked.
"I took pregnancy tests that came out positive I need to be checked." Cookie said.
"Well you look young I can't do that without a parent's permission." Dr. Brooks replied.
"I'm eighteen so I'm legal see." Cookie said as she reached in her purse pulling out her wallet showing Dr. Brooks.
"Okay, no problem I'll need to do a blood test to confirm it a nurse will be in to get a sample I'll return with the results when they come in." Dr. Brooks replied.
Lucious and Cookie lock eyes not saying a word for a few minutes the nurse comes in taking the blood sample and leave the room.
"Are you okay?" Lucious asked.
"I'm scared Lucious." Cookie replied.
"Baby I promise everything will be okay I won't let anything happen to you or out baby," Lucious said.
"I know Lucious it's just nerves." Cookie replied.
Neither of them says anything for a few minutes. Then doctor Brooks came back into the room. "Okay, Loretha you are two weeks pregnant I've compiled a list of OBGYN doctors who you can make an appointment with for your care during the pregnancy."
"Also here is a prescription for prenatal vitamins. "Dr. Brooks said.
"Thank you Dr.Brooks." Cookie and Lucious replied.
"Now we got to get this prescription filled and then we can see about finding a place to move," Lucious said.
Lucious gets the prescription filled then takes Cookie to get something to eat. After that, they decided to get a newspaper to look for a place.
"There are a lot of places for rent and for sale we don't want to buy a house here if we plan to move to New York and California." Cookie replied.
"We will find a place don't worry about anything," Lucious said.
They spent the day looking at all kinds of different places to move they would also be looking for furniture to fill the place up.
They returned to the motel bringing food back with him.
They went to bed that night Lucious rubbing circles on Cookies still flat stomach.
The next morning Lucious got up to take care of his business.
"Hey Lucious," Bunkie greets. "Hey Bunkie," Lucious replied.
"Sup Lucious." Thirsty greets.
"Listen Bunkie, Thirsty, Cookie, and I are gonna have a baby and I want to find a place to move before she gives birth so we will be grinding harder than usual," Lucious replied.
"Wow, congratulations man that's great news you know we got your back," Bunkie said.
"Okay come on we have work to do," Lucious replied.
"Let's work," Thirsty said.
They each grabbed their products and made sales throughout the day.
Cookie stayed in the room looking at the list Dr. Brooks gave them.
Hours later Lucious returned with Food for Cookie.
"Hey baby, I'm back." Lucious greets.
"Hey baby, welcome back." Cookie replied.
"How was your day?" Lucious asked.
"It was alright I've been looking at the list Dr. Brooks gave us and the paper for places to live." Cookie replied.
"Well, what places are you looking at?" Lucious asked.
"Here take a look." Cookie replied.
"These are good we should take a look at these places," Lucious said.
"Okay let's go and check them out." Cookie replied. as she grabbed her purse.
What Cookie didn't know was that while Lucious was out he managed to find a nice house that had 4 bedrooms two bathrooms that he had paid rent for them to move in.
"What is this Lucious?" Cookie asked.
"This is our house we are renting," Lucious replied.
"We don't have anything for this house." Cookie said.
"Baby we can go shopping and get all we are going to need," Lucious replied.
They went shopping and found similar things that were in Cookies' dad's house.
They found a nice bedroom set and everything the house would need very reasonable. Lucious hired people to move and assemble everything in the house while they went to make an appointment with the OBGYN.
After talking about it Cookie and Lucious chose Dr. Sanders.
Lucious held Cookie's hand as they walked into the Doctors office.
They walk into the exam room after being called back.
Cookie changes into the gown and lays on the table.
"Okay, Loretha let's check you out." Dr. Sanders said.
The doctor checks Cookies' stomach. "Everything seems fine so let's get an ultrasound to see how the baby is developing." Dr. Sanders continued.
"Look baby wow that's incredible," Lucious replied.
"Lucious baby I can't believe this is real." Cookie said.
"It's very real your little one is still very small and hasn't developed fully and won't for a while but everything is going well. Just keep taking the prenatal vitamins and I'll schedule another ultrasound at a later date." Dr. Sanders.
"Thank you, Doctor. We will do everything you said." Lucious replied.
Cookie and Lucious head back to the room getting all their clothes put in the car turning in the room key to the office.
"Listen Cookie I told you that you were gonna be my wife I bought a ring that day at the mall," Lucious said as he pulled the box out of his pocket.
"Oh my God Lucious." Cookie gasped.
"Yes, Lucious I'll marry you." Cookie said.
"We're gonna be a real family now," Lucious replied.
"Yes, and I can't wait." Cookie said.
The next day Cookie was in the kitchen cooking breakfast for her and Lucious.
"Good morning baby." Lucious greets.
"Good morning Lucious." Cookie greeted.
They were interrupted by a knock on the door.
"I'll get the door," Lucious said.
"Hey Lucious," Bunkie greeted walking inside with Thirsty Candace and Carol.
"Baby who's at the door?" Cookie asked.
"Hi, Loretha." Candace greeted.
"Oh my God Candace Carol it's nice to see you." Cookie said.
"It's good to see you again too," Candace replied.
"Come in and have a seat." Cookie said.
Candace and Carol sit down on the couch.
"Wow, you look great Loretha," Carol replied.
"Yeah well being pregnant added to it." Cookie said.
"Wait did you say you're pregnant?" Candace asked.
"Yes, your gonna be aunties." Cookie said.
"Wow, we're so happy for you," Carol replied.
"We are also engaged." Cookie said as she showed them the ring.
"That's great," Candace replied.
"Yes. Here I want you to have my pager and phone number so we can keep in touch." Cookie said.
"We would love that," Carol replied.
They all talked for a few hours Candace and Carol stayed with Cookie while Lucious Bunkie and Thirsty left to take care of their business.
"So anything new with you guys?" Cookie asked.
"No Jack and I are doing well he's been supportive," Candace replied.
"That's good I'm happy for you." Cookie said.
The sisters continued to talk while Cookie gave them the tour.
After hours of reconnecting they didn't hear Lucious Bunkie and Thirsty returning.
Cookie Candace and Carol were in the kitchen cooking dinner the radio was playing as the sisters talked and cooked like old times.
"They are having a good time cooking aren't they?" Bunkie asked.
"Yeah, it's like they are back to their old selves." Thirsty replied.
"Yeah I'm just happy Cookie is doing better she took her dad kicking her out hard and his death even harder," Lucious said.
"Yeah me too, she has this glow now that she didn't have before," Bunkie replied.
"That's the pregnancy glow," Lucious said.
"Sit down boys dinner is ready." Cookie interrupts.
"Okay baby," Lucious said.
They all sat down to a fried chicken collard greens green beans mashed potatoes and gravy. They ate the food in silence.
"This is very good ladies," Bunkie replied.
"Thank you, Bunkie." Cookie Candace and Carol said.
"No problem ladies," Bunkie replied.
After dinner and dessert, Bunkie Thirsty Carol and Candace left Cookie and Lucious alone.
Lucious helped Cookie with the dishes and then they both went to bed.
Lucious kissed Cookie and wrapped his arms around her while they slept.
The next morning dawns Cookie was in the shower and Lucious got up going to the closet deciding what he was going to wear.
"Hey, baby did I wake you?" Cookie asked.
"No baby how are my two babies?" Lucious asked.
"We're fine baby." Cookie said.
Cookie goes into the closet getting her outfit.
Once she gets dressed she goes downstairs to start breakfast eggs toast and bacon. They sat and ate their food ten minutes later Bunkie and Thirsty knock on the door. But this time they bring things for Cookie.
"What's in the bag Bunkie?" Cookie asked.
"Books about babies and baby names I know it's early but I thought these would help you since you or Lucious have never done this before," Bunkie replied.
"And since your engaged I thought getting you some wedding catalogs might help you with picking out a dress and the little things," Thirsty said.
"Thank you both that means a lot to us." Cookie replied.
"You and Lucious are family and we take care of our family," Bunkie said.
Lucious kissed Cookie goodbye and left with Bunkie and Thirsty.
Cookie sat at the kitchen table after cleaning the dishes and went through all the books the pregnancy book in particular.
She spent the day reading as well as looking at the different dresses to help her pick something out.
After a while, she fixed herself some lunch and sat back down at the table. And continued what she was doing while she ate.
Cookie and Lucious weren't planning a big church ceremony just a simple thing at the courthouse and they could have a small gathering back at their house.
In between getting prepared for the baby and doctors appointment
She also knew they would have to get things for the baby down the line. But that could wait till they knew what the gender would be.
Later in the evening, Lucious returned and Cookie was cooking steak a salad, and mashed potatoes.
"How was your day baby?" Lucious asked.
"It was great baby the things Bunkie and Thirsty gave me this morning kept me busy." Cookie said.
"That's great I'm thinking I should read some of them too," Lucious replied.
"Yeah, it couldn't hurt." Cookie said.
"No, it couldn't," Lucious replied.
"So how was your day?" Cookie asked.
"It was good I met up with a few DJ's who are willing to let me jump in on their gigs and perform," Lucious replied.
"Oh, baby I'm so proud of you. "Cookie said.
"Thank you, baby," Lucious replied.
"No problem baby." Cookie said.
Lucious helped Cookie clean the table and wash the dishes.
Once they were done she and Lucious returned looking at the books and talked.
"So what do you think the baby will be?" Lucious asked.
"I don't know but whatever it will be I'm going to love it." Cookie said.
"I never thought about children before this but like you said no matter what the baby will be they will know that I love them and will protect them," Lucious replied.
Cookie looked at him and smiled caressing his face with her palm.
Lucious turned into her touch kissing her palm.
"What about names?" Cookie asked.
"I don't know I'm glad we have a book to figure that out though," Lucious replied.
"Well, when we get closer to knowing what the sex is we will have picked out names we like and narrow it down." Cookie said.
"Sounds good to me," Lucious replied.
They continued to talk for a good ten minutes before Cookie got tired and gathered up the books so she could take upstairs to bed.
Laying in bed Cookie looked at the book she had been reading.
"I think these books will help us in preparing to be the best possible parents we can be." Cookie said.
"I agree this is new territory for us but we aren't alone here everyone who first became parents had to learn from the ground up," Lucious replied.
"And we are no different." Cookie said.
"That's true come on baby let's get some sleep," Lucious replied.
They turn the lights out and cuddle close together to sleep.
Hours passed and Cookie gets up to go to the bathroom. She turns the shower on letting the water run for a while.
She wrapped herself in a towel grabbing her clothes for the day going back to the bathroom she closed the door behind her looking at herself in the mirror looking at herself staring at her still flat belly marveling at the fact a little person is growing inside her.
Lucious knocks on the bathroom door. " Hey, babe are you okay? "Lucious asked.
"Yeah Baby I'm fine you can come in." Cookie said.
"Okay baby," Lucious replied. As he carried his towel putting it on the rack and his clothes on the door.
Cookie brushes her teeth combing her hair and her other daily routine.
Lucious came down a few minutes later to help her with breakfast since she learned she was pregnant Lucious has been helping her more even though she wasn't heavily pregnant yet and she was happy he was being so sweet and thoughtful.
"What have you got planned today?" Lucious asked.
"You know the usual figuring out things for the baby's room." Cookie said.
"Yeah we will have to fix that up but we have time," Lucious replied.
"I just want to look at some baby things to get an idea of what we want for the room right now gender-neutral since we don't know what the sex is." Cookie said.
"Just be careful I know you've walked around the neighborhood with your sister's by yourself but you weren't pregnant then either and I just want you both to be safe," Lucious replied.
"I'll be okay Jackie Shanice and Rochelle will be going with me." Cookie said.
"Okay, I'll be back later," Lucious replied.
A few minutes later Bunkie Thirsty and the girls showed up on the porch Cookie going with the girls Lucious going with the boys.
Hours later Cookie and the girls return home having bought childproofing stuff as well as some other small odds and ends for the house in preparation for the baby.
Lucious and the guys return with bags in hand having stopped off to get groceries and other things for the house.
"Hey, baby look what I got." Lucious greets.
"What did you get?" Cookie asked.
"A bassinet a diaper bag and car seat," Lucious replied.
"Oh, that is so cute." Jackie Shanice and Rochelle gushed.
"We can keep the baby with us in the room while we are there or down here when we are here the bassinet is adjustable to whatever is convenient for us," Lucious replied.
"That's great baby I've also got some baby-proofing things for when the baby gets older." Cookie said.
"We will be here for you both so you won't have to do this alone," Bunkie replied.
"Bunkie is right it takes a village to raise a child and this child will have one hell of a village." Cookie said.
