A/N: Melissa is regretting her kiss with Chris and turns to the one person she knew could make her feel better.
Melissa McCall laid in her bed that night unable to sleep as she thought back on the day.
She had only meant to hug Chris yet she ended up kissing him and calling him hot.
All she felt now was guilt and awkwardness.
She rolled over to look at the alarm clock on her bedside table and saw that it was only 2am.
With a sigh Melissa tried to go to sleep but after twenty minutes gave up thinking it useless.
Melissa looked at her phone sat beside the alarm clock and hesitated before grabbing it.
She scrolled through her contacts list until she found Noah's number.
Her finger hovered over the call button.
"What am I doing?" Melissa criticised herself in a whisper, "I can't call him."
She threw her phone onto the bed in frustration.
After a few more minutes of frustrated sighs Melissa grabbed her phone again and pressed the call button for Noah's number.
It took a few rings before she heard his familiar voice.
"Sheriff Stilinski," Noah answered in frustration.
"Sorry to wake you," Melissa said softly and guiltily.
"Mel? It's okay, what's up?" Noah asked in a calmer and kinder voice.
"I think I made a mistake," Melissa said slowly.
Noah waited for her to elaborate but when she didn't he responded, "with what?"
"I-I kissed someone," Melissa hesitated, "someone that I didn't really want to kiss."
"How do you accidentally kiss someone?" Noah asked teasingly even though his heart was breaking.
"I went to hug him and ended up getting caught in the moment," Melissa said in annoyance.
She knew that Noah didn't mean any harm with his teasing but she still didn't appreciate it when she felt horrible for her actions.
"Right. What did this guy do to make you get caught in a moment?" Noah asked slightly more seriously.
"Saved my life, quite literally," Melissa explained.
"Yeah, well I guess that does classify as getting caught in a moment," Noah said uncertainly.
"Well I wouldn't be talking to you right now if he hadn't saved my life," Melissa defended.
Melissa inwardly groaned at her defensiveness.
She wasn't proud of her actions but she didn't think that they needed to be defended.
"Guess I should thank the guy then for saving my closest friend," Noah said softly.
Melissa frowned at the word 'friend', weren't they so much more than just 'friends' by now?
"Yeah. Right," Melissa responded.
Noah sighed, "Mel what's so bad about it? So you kissed a guy, you deserve to be able to have a little fun and not feel guilty about it. It was just a kiss after all, right?"
Melissa groaned, "it's not so much the kiss itself it's more about the fact that he isn't the one that I wanted to be with in that moment. He wasn't the one that I wanted saving me. The point is he is a great friend and this is going to make everything awkward and complicated."
Noah frowned, "who did you kiss?"
Melissa closed her eyes tightly and choked out, "Chris."
Noah's eyes widened, "as in Argent?"
"Yes," Melissa groaned.
Noah went very quiet and his heart began to shatter even more.
"Noah?" Melissa asked nervously, her voice barely above a whisper.
Tears were streaming down her cheeks as she realised she might have just ruined her second friendship of the day.
"Yeah. I-I'm-I'm still here," Noah said just as quietly.
"I'm so sorry," Melissa managed to choke out before she began to sob.
"Mel don't cry, you don't have to apologise to me," Noah said gently.
"It was so stupid. I don't even know why I let it happen. The Ghost Riders came for us and he had fought one of them for their gun and he took them all out. I was grateful. I just, I didn't expect it to happen. It shouldn't have happened. One minute I intended to hug him and the next I was kissing him. It shouldn't have been him. I didn't want it to be him," Melissa said frantically.
"W-Wh-Who-Who did you wa-wan-want it to be?" Noah hesitantly asked.
Melissa tried to swallow the lump in her throat before speaking, "I-I it should have been," Melissa took a deep breath, "you."
Noah felt like he must have heard her wrong, "w-wh-who?"
Melissa took another deep breath before responding, "you Noah. It should have been you I was kissing."
Noah was quiet for a moment trying to process what he had just heard.
Was this really happening? Did they both want this? Could they cross this line?
Melissa felt her heart sink as the phone line went dead. She should have known that her words would have the potential to end her friendship with her dearest friend.
As tears filled her eyes Melissa heard the front door of her house open. With a frown she carefully made her way downstairs. She didn't get far, Noah had used his key to get into the house and met her halfway up the stairs.
Before Melissa could say a word Noah had her wrapped in his arms and was pressing a firm, passionate, loving kiss to her lips.
Melissa smiled against his lips and felt relief flood her system. If she had known that all it would take for Noah to kiss her would be for her to kiss Chris she would've done so a long time ago.
