Chapter 10: Bringing May Back

May is relaxing on her very soft flower bed that she sprouted. She is on the second floor of her castle and wild Pokémon are welcome to fly in through the open windows.

"Hi friends." May said.

May was greeted by Beautifly, Masquerain, Hoppip, Taillow, and more flying types.

"Isn't this nice? It's just you all, me, and my flowers." She said as she shot her magic at a wall and pink roses sprouted out of the wall. "I'm free from the stress of trying to hide my powers."

A Beautifly perched on her head. "Beautifly!"

"Are you all hungry?" May asked. She received several nods. "Okay then. Here you go." May said as she motioned her hands to several areas in that room, producing Berry bushes. The Pokémon all went to the bushes and started eating from them.

"How far did she go?" Drew asked himself as he continued walking along the rose path made by May.

He stopped at the cliff that May came across. He looked up at it. "How did she get over that?"

Drew took out a Pokéball and tossed it in the air. His Flygon came out. "Flygon, I need a lift."

Flygon bent down, so Drew can climb on it. Flygon flew up the cliff and dropped Drew off. They both gazed at the tall castle made of flowers and grass that stood there.

"Wow...May did that?" Drew asked in shock. He returned Flygon to his Pokéball because he feels that May might be angrier at him if he brings his Flygon inside than she already is.

The Pokémon in May's room all perk their heads up. "What's wrong?" May asked.

The Pokémon all fly over to May's balcony and look down. May walked to her balcony as well and followed their gazes down to where they see Drew walking towards the entrance to the castle.

"No. He followed me here." May mumbled to herself.

The flying Pokémon fly down to block the entrance. "Wait!" May called to them, but they were already down there.

Drew stopped and looked at the Pokémon. "Umm...can I come in?" Drew asked.

The flying types unleashed their attacks at Drew. May gasped from her balcony, but Drew quickly brought Flygon out again. Flygon used Flamethrower to counter against the attacks.

"Good job." Drew said. "These Pokémon must be protecting May and this castle. She probably built it to get away from everything and everyone that bothered her about these powers." Drew frowned. "Including me."

The Pokémon unleashed their attacks again. "Flygon, Flamethrower." Drew said. Flygon countered the attacks with another Flamethrower.

"Listen everyone, I'm not here to hurt May. I want to help her." Drew said.

The Pokémon said their names angrily. Flygon tried negotiating with them. Drew watched as his Flygon tried reasoning with the wild Pokémon. May watched from her balcony.

After a moment of talking it over, some Pokémon used Stun Spore on Flygon. Flygon didn't get the chance to dodge it, so he ended up getting caught in the yellow powder. Flygon got paralyzed and fell to the ground.

"Flygon!" Drew called. He ran to Flygon and bent down to it. "Flygon, are you okay?"

"Fly…" Flygon said.

May gasped when Flygon got a taste of Stun Spore. She watched as her wild Pokémon friends surrounded Drew and Flygon. They were about to attack again when-

"Enough!" May yelled. The Pokémon and Drew looked up to where May's voice was heard. "Stop attacking them!"

The wild Pokémon listened to May and backed away from Drew and Flygon. May went downstairs to the entrance of the castle and opened the front doors.

"May I-" Drew said once he saw May but he cut himself off when he noticed her new outfit.

May didn't say anything and she just sprouted a giant lavender rose from underneath Flygon. It lifted Flygon up and May walked towards the inside of her castle with the giant rose magically floating and following her inside. Drew stood up and followed as well, with the wild Pokémon following shortly after.

May stopped in the middle of the first floor and sprouted up a Cheri Berry bush. May picked a Cheri Berry off of it and held it in front of Flygon's mouth. "Eat this." May said kindly.

Flygon took a bite out of the Cheri Berry and his paralysis disappeared. Flygon was able to start flying again and he landed next to Drew.

"Fly~!" Flygon roared happily. Flygon lowered his head to Drew.

Drew pet Flygon on his head. "Glad you're feeling better."

May made the bush and giant rose disappear into the ground. Drew turned his attention to May. "May…"

"What are you doing here?" May asked, a bit harsh.

"I came to help you." Drew answered.

"Help me with what?" May said, eyebrows furrowed.

"With…"

"I don't need help. Here, I'm free to live my life with these freakish powers." May said.

"May, they're not freakish." Drew said.

"You're lying about that." May said. "If everyone else at school says that I'm a freak, then why should I believe thatyou don't think that too!" She yelled.

"Because I'm your friend." Drew calmly said. "And friends don't laugh at each other. Friends don't call each other hurtful names."

May didn't say anything and Drew continued. "I think these powers of yours make you unique. Everyone is different May," he added as he slowly started approaching May. "And everyone has their own uniqueness to them."

"Don't come any closer." May said. Drew kept walking to her though.

"May, come back and show everyone what you can do."

"I said stay back!" May yelled, a black wave coming from her body pushed Drew back. He fell on his back like before.

Drew slowly started standing up. "Drew, please go back without me. It's too dangerous for you here." May said.

"No May." Drew said as he stood up. "I'm not the one in danger, you are." He started walking closer to May again.

"Drew…" May said sadly.

He stopped when he is three feet away from May. "May, if after this conversation you choose to stay, then I'll leave. But there's something I need to tell you."

May didn't respond so Drew continued. "Remember on the first day of 8th grade when you still didn't want to talk to me or look at me?" May nodded.

"And I told you that you've changed from...the girl I thought Ihad feelings for." Drew continued. May nodded.

"Truth is…" Drew said. He looked May in the eyes. "I love you May."

May's eyes widened. "But...my powers-"

"Your powers don't matter to me May." Drew cut May off. "I fell in love with the girl who isn't a huge fan of mine. I fell in love with the girl that keeps me lost in her beautiful eyes." May blushed and looked down. Drew started walking closer to May while saying, "I fell in love with the girl that makes me smile." Drew stopped in front of May and lifted her chin up with his index finger and thumb.

"And that beautiful girl, the one right in front of me," Drew continued. "Is not a freak with magic. She doesn't need to hide from the world. I believe…" Drew added as he removed his hand from her chin and took out a red thornless rose out of nowhere. He placed it in her hair and brushed May's cheek, tucking strands of hair behind her ear. "That she is strong, caring, and unique even without her magic."

"Drew, I…" May said.

They stared into each other's eyes. Emeralds meeting Sapphires. Drew lifted her head a little higher. "I've wanted to do this for a while now." Drew said.

"Do what?" May asked.

Drew leaned in closer. "This." He closed his eyes and pressed his lips against May's. May was stunned and she didn't know how to react. May found herself slowly closing her eyes and savoring the kiss.

It felt like fireworks were going off inside of Drew and May. May felt a spark ignite inside of her. A red wave, like the black one but red, emanated out of May. The red wave flowed through the whole forest and all the way to the school. Everywhere the wave touched, all of May's roses disappeared. The students at school watched as the yellow and lavender roses that changed color from black, disappeared into tiny rainbow sparkles floating up. May's castle started disappearing, starting from the top. May's outfit turned back to normal as well. Once all of May's magic was undone, they pulled away from each other, smiling.

"Are you ready to head back?" Drew asked as he held a hand out to May.

"Absolutely." May said as she took his hand. Flygon flew and bent down next to them, so they could climb on.

Drew climbed on first and helped May up. "Anything you want to say to your friends before we leave?" Drew asked.

May nodded and turned to her flying friends. "Thank you all for keeping me company. I'll miss you guys." The Pokémon all said their names happily. They all waved bye to May as they saw Flygon fly up and towards the school.

"Look! They're back!" A random student yelled. It was like the entire freshman class was outside in the front of the school. They all saw May and Drew riding on Flygon in the distance.

May tightened her grip around Drew's waist and avoided looking at the students. "It's okay May." Drew said. Flygon was now hovering above the crowd of students. "Just show them what you can do Flower Girl."

May loosened her grip and smiled at him. "Watch this." May said confidently. Flygon was at least ten feet above the students and May jumped off.

May held out her palms facing in front of her and she twirled while falling. The students moved out of the way and stared in amazement at May. Pink rose petals were rapidly coming out of her hands and they circled around her as she twirled. The petals caught the wind and ended up slowing May's fall. She landed safely on the ground. The students all clapped at May's small performance. She blushed and gave a small bow. She looked back up at Drew.

"Drew! Jump!" May said. Everyone looked up at Drew as well.

"Okay! I'm trusting you on this!" Drew said. May nodded. Drew jumped off of Flygon and May clawed her hand and raised it up, sprouting a giant pink rose that caught Drew and slowly lowered him down.

Drew stepped off of the rose. "Wow. That was cool May."

Everyone clapped for May again.

"You're awesome May!"

"Your powers are so cool!"

"Can you show us more?!"

"Umm…" May said. Dawn walked forward to May and Drew.

"You did Drew!" Dawn said. "And May, I noticed that you took off your bracelets."

"Yep! I don't need them anymore." May said.

"Your bracelets?" Drew questioned.

May looked at Drew. "Let me explain…"

May explained to Drew what her bracelets did for her. She explained what each color of her roses mean to everyone as well. She definitely knows how to fully control them now. But wait…little does she know, that there's one more color of rose she has yet to create.
