Chapter Three
Harry had been travelling with the Doctor for almost seventy years, though he supposed for his family back in his own timeline it had only been three years. He always made sure that he returned to visit for birthdays and Christmas, and thankfully there hadn't been a repeat of that first Christmas, the Weasleys finally getting the hint that Luna and Neville wouldn't tell them where Harry was.
He had come to the conclusion that it didn't matter when he returned to visit his family for him, as long as they got to see him regularly in their minds. Plus, it was so easy to lose track of time when the machine you were travelling in defied all knowledge of it.
His relationship with the Doctor had only gotten stronger and closer, the Doctor getting used to having a companion that would even out live him. Though much to Harry's disappointment, they hadn't moved beyond just being friends. Not that Harry hadn't tried.
Which brought him to now, where he was sitting in his spot on the TARDIS - after seventy years, the Doctor had finally accepted the strange relationship Harry had with the TARDIS… begrudgingly - and bemoaning dense time lords.
"So when do you think he's going to stop blushing and finally get the hint?" Harry asked, leaning against the wall of the TARDIS in what Harry liked to call the subspace of the control room and where Harry preferred to sit to talk to the TARDIS, and generally just to keep out of the way whilst the Doctor did what ever it was he did when flying the machine.
Harry smiled at the feeling of amusement and slight feeling of uncertainty that the TARDIS sent him through their link, which just got stronger the longer he spent there.
"Yes, he is a little dense, isn't he? I'm guessing he just thinks I flirt with anyone with a pulse? Really, does he not notice it's just him I flirt with?"
A feeling of amused exasperation washed over him, which was pretty close to what he was feeling about the whole situation.
"What is he doing anyway? You're perfect the way you are, so why is he pretending to know what he's doing and banging at you with a hammer?"
Uncertainty mixed with more amusement and a sense of fondness went through him and Harry felt that he shared in the TARDIS's fondness of the crazy Time Lord that was currently clattering about above him.
"I know you're talking about me!" Harry glanced up through the floor at where the Doctor was standing directly above him, glaring down at him.
"We only talk about you because we love you!" Harry called up, grinning at the incomprehensible muttering that brought about and shifting a little to get more comfortable. "But seriously, can anyone be that dense?"
All he got for an answer was a wave of great amusement and reassurance.
"Damn, I had hoped the answer would be no."
"So where are we going next?" Harry asked a little while later as he made his way back up to the main control centre, chuckling quietly when he made the Doctor jump and bang his head on the console, which he was lying under. "Really, Doctor, leave the poor girl alone! Stop looking up her skirt!"
"Up her— Stop perverting what I'm doing! I'll have you know I'm… I'm…"
"You're what? You don't know, do you? I certainly don't know and I think Sexy is a little miffed that you think she needs improving. You know what happened the last time you tinkered and she didn't need it. Also, Sexy isn't a name, you need to think of a better one."
"That wasn't my fault," the Doctor muttered petulantly, sitting up and actually crossing his arms over his chest as he stared up at Harry through his hair. "And Sexy is a perfectly reasonable name."
"Of course not, but I'd really prefer not to be trapped on a planet of perpetual Tuesdays for a month again. God that was a dull month. Even the people there were fed up all the time!" Harry told him, crouching down and moving to sit next to the Doctor, looking up at the console above him once he was sitting comfortably. "So really, what are you doing?"
"Trying to make her a bit more accurate. Why are you sitting on the floor with me?"
"Well you weren't standing, so I decided to level things out between us a little. You didn't answer me, by the way. Where are we headed to next?" Harry asked once more, shifting a little so that he could lean over and rest his head on the Doctor's shoulder, rolling his eyes slightly when he stiffened momentarily before relaxing once more.
"I thought we could go to Xelara."
"Xelara? What's that like?"
"It's a fairly peaceful planet but they have the best ice cream flavours, and I really fancy some ice cream."
"You're taking me to a planet for ice cream? Hmm. Like… like a date!"
"What? No! Not like a date! Not like a date at all!" The Doctor denied vehemently, making Harry wonder if he should be a little insulted that the man so desperately didn't want to go on a date with him. He probably would have been insulted if he hadn't had a direct link to what the TARDIS was feeling, which made him feel a little better about himself.
"You don't have to be quite so forceful about it. Fine, I get it, you don't want to go on a date with me. Eesh, let me down a little more gently next time. Not that there will be a next time after that," Harry muttered, standing up and moving to leave the control room to go to his own room on the TARDIS. Perhaps the Doctors denials of a date had hurt him a little more than he had thought. Harry rubbed a hand over the TARDIS's wall as he passed through the doorway when he felt a feeling of concern and questioning sent to him.
"Harry…"
"No no, it's cool! Let me know when we're at Xelara, okay?" Harry asked, trying to smile but knowing he failed at it miserably before walking into the hallway and heading to his room, which had moved closer thanks to the TARDIS. "Cheers, girl."
"Harry…" Harry glanced up from where he was reading on his bed at the knock on his door, sighing as he marked his place and put the book down on his bedside table before opening his door.
"Have we arrived?"
"What? Oh, no, not yet. About earlier… Did you… did you mean it?" The Doctor asked him quietly, looking down at his feet as he fidgeted in the doorway.
"Mean what?" Harry asked, genuinely confused about what the Doctor was asking him.
"About the date."
"Ah, has the TARDIS been talking to you?"
"No! Annoyingly you're still the only one who can talk to her. Why?"
"Just wondered."
"Oh. Well? You didn't answer my question," the Doctor pointed out, finally looking up from his feet to stare at Harry intently, making Harry become the one to fidget.
"Ah, well, I suppose so. I mean, I do like you and wouldn't mind seeing if we could be more than friends, but I understand that you don't feel that way, so I can live with that," Harry admitted with a shrug, feeling highly uncomfortable with the entire conversation and wishing it would end soon.
"We… we could try? I'm not that great with relationships. Been married a ridiculous amount of times but I've never really been in an actual relationship. I tend to marry and then run off," the Doctor admitted sheepishly, getting a chuckle from Harry.
"Is that you accepting to go on a date with me? Because I've got to be honest, when doing that, it's probably best not to bring up multiple failed marriages," Harry pointed out with amusement. The Doctor just managed to somehow look even more sheepish and rubbed the back of his head.
"Well at least you know I'm not lying about being new to relationships," the Doctor pointed out to him, before he seemed to make some sort of mental decision and stood up a little straighter. "Harry, would you like to go on a date with me to Xelara?"
Harry actually felt himself swoon a little at his adorable Time Lord, and felt a smile threatening to split his face in half it was so wide. "I'd love to go on a date with you, Doctor."
Harry stepped out of the TARDIS and looked around him with wide eyes, after seventy years, he was still in awe of some of the places the Doctor took him to. He jumped a little when the Doctor tentatively took hold of his hand and smiled at him shyly, which made Harry practically beam at him in delight.
"This is great!" Harry exclaimed, looking around him at the huge glasslike domes, where eon the outside it looked like there was a blizzard, but inside of it, it was warm and toasty with wooden cottage like buildings dotted around the place. It reminded him a little of Hogsmeade.
"It is, isn't it? Right, let's go get some ice cream!" The Doctor said, tugging Harry out of the TARDIS and leading him into the little town. "Humans colonised this planet about two hundred years ago and have become known as the best planet for both ice cream and snow sports."
"Well, let's go get some ice cream and then maybe see what sports they have to offer!" Harry said with a smile.
The two walked down the main street of the little town, hand in hand, looking at the little shops they passed and occasionally commenting on something they saw, before they arrived at a large cafe like building that was larger than most of the other shops they had passed. The Doctor tugged Harry inside and lead him over to a private, out of the way booth and sat down, Harry moving to sit opposite him.
"So what ice cream flavours do you like?" the Doctor asked him, pulling a menu out of a hatch in the wall and scanning over it. Harry took another menu and did the same, chuckling as he read some of the flavours.
"Well, I don't think I want some of these flavours. They're even weirder than Fortescues!"
"Harry, this is Fortescues," the Doctor told him with a grin, which widened when Harry gaped at him.
"Seriously?!"
"Yep! Amazing, isn't it?"
"Wow. That's one hell of a family business," Harry said with a chuckle, before turning his attention back to the menu. "Hmm. Would it be totally boring of me to stick with earth flavours?"
"No! I'm getting a banana scoop, a chocolate scoop and a sausage scoop!"
"Er… sounds delicious."
"You're lying."
"I really don't like bananas. Anyway, I think I'll have a bubblegum scoop and a raspberry ripple one!" Harry said with a nod, grinning when he saw the Doctor pouting. "I have nothing against you for liking bananas, I just don't like them."
"Well, there's no accounting for taste, I suppose. Right, I'll go give in our order, you just wait here! I'll be back in a minute!" Harry just nodded and watched the Doctor walk away, smiling at how happy he was feeling finally being on a date with the Doctor. It had only taken seventy years.
Indeed, it was only a minute or so later when the Doctor practically skipped back to Harry and slid into the booth opposite him.
"Not bad for a first date, Doctor," Harry said after a moment of silence, smiling brightly at the Doctor, who returned the smile, if a little sheepishly.
"Yes, well, technically it was your idea," the Doctor said with a small shrug, fidgeting in his seat and playing with the hem of his jacket, sure signs, Harry had learnt, of the Doctor wanting to say something.
"Doc?"
"You… you can call me Theta if you want," the Doctor told him quietly, getting a huge grin from Harry as he nodded his head eagerly.
"Sounds more personal than Doctor."
"It is. I wanted to apologise for hurting your feelings earlier."
"You already have apologised. There's nothing really for you to be sorry about. I was just being a bit too sensitive," Harry brushed off with a shrug. Freezing when the Doctor pinned him with a stare.
"But I am sorry."
"Okay…" Harry agreed, not sure where he was going with this. Before the Doctor could reply, their order was brought to them and placed on their table, so there was a couple of minutes of silence while they both tasted the ice cream they had chosen.
"I've never had a companion stay with me as long as you have. Eventually they all decide to leave me. To carry on with their lives,"
"And you're waiting for me to leave?"
"Yes."
"Well, I'm not going to leave you through choice. And if I'm forced away from you, I'll fire tooth and nail to get back to you. I love travelling with you and Sexy. And I don't have a life to go back to, so no worries on that front," Harry told him with a soft smile, the Doctor just staring at him in shock.
"So this… what is this?"
"This is me carrying on with my life!" Harry told him brightly, laughing when the Doctor blinked and then smiled happily at Harry's answer.
"So where to now?" Harry asked as he walked into the control room at the urging of the TARDIS, he had no idea why she wanted him in there and assumed it had something to do with going somewhere.
Harry and the Doctor had tentatively been dating for three months, and things were going well - if you ignored the occasional life threatening adventure and occasionally getting locked up by hostile aliens - Harry had never felt more content with the way his life was going and the Doctor seemed to be brooding less and genuinely seemed to believe Harry when he said he wasn't going to leave him.
"Pardon?"
"Sexy told me to come in here, so I assumed you wanted to go somewhere. Was I wrong?"
"Er… well, I was thinking of heading somewhere, but I thought you might like to go and visit your family for Neville's wedding. That's the next thing in the list of events we can't miss or Luna will hunt us down, no matter where we are, right?"
"Christ, I'd totally forgotten about that! Good job we live in a time machine, huh? We should probably get dressed into something more presentable if we're going to a wedding," Harry pointed out, getting an insulted look from the Doctor. "Don't give me that look! You're wearing a suit."
"You're so… bossy!"
"Deal with it," Harry told him, before he walked up to the Doctor and kissed him, then pulled back and grinned at the stunned look on his face.
"What was that for?"
"Other than because I wanted to? Thank you for remembering Neville's wedding. Good job I'm not best man! Come on, let's go see what you have in that massive wardrobe of yours that would be suitable for a wedding. And maybe I should change my appearance," Harry said, stroking his hands down the lapels of the Doctor's jacket almost without realising it.
"Why? I like your appearance!"
"That's good, but I'm still sort of wanted in Britain. And many of the people invited to Nev's wedding will be people that knew me at school, so they'll recognise me."
"Really? I don't think they will. But if you'd prefer to change your appearance, don't let me stop you," the Doctor said, pouting a little and making Harry grin at him. Harry leant up on his tiptoes to press a kiss to the Doctor's cheek before taking a step back and turning to leave.
"Fine, I won't change my appearance. But you and Sexy had better save me if I get arrested," Harry pointed out as he walked out of the control room, the Doctor following behind him.
"We'll break you out as soon as it happens! Promise! Now, about the suit…"
"You're wearing one. If I'm not changing my appearance, you're wearing a suit. Besides, I bet you look hot in a suit," Harry said slyly, looking the Doctor up and down and chuckling at the blush that brought. Harry then led the way to the wardrobe and pushed the Doctor inside. "Pick a suit. And if you must, you can wear a bow tie. But no fez!"
"But—"
"No! No fez. Now get dressed or I'll ask Sexy to lock you in there until you cooperate," Harry warned him, smirking at the moody look the Doctor gave him.
"She wouldn't listen to you!"
"You know she would. Now stop whining and get dressed."
After much whining and muttering from the Doctor, Harry finally got him dressed in a smart suit, and Harry was right, the Doctor was very attractive in a suit. Harry was dressed in his own suit and was complimented by the Doctor, which made Harry blush happily.
They both went into the control room once they were ready, and the Doctor moved to the console. Harry moved to stand next to him and glanced at the screen before rolling his eyes, and tapping two buttons, pushing up a lever and turning another handle.
"Oi! I didn't teach you how to drive her just so that you could take over!"
"You were dithering! Now then, Sexy, I will love you forever and give you a wash if you make sure we land before noon on the eighteenth of May, 2014. Cheers!" Harry added, before slamming down another lever and grinning at the put out expression on the Doctor's face.
They both held on to the console, the Doctor still looking unimpressed that Harry had taken his job and then bumped into one another when the TARDIS came to a stop with a thud.
"Fingers crossed we haven't missed it," Harry muttered, stroking the TARDIS apologetically when she sent him an indignant feeling.
"I've never been to a wizard wedding before!" The Doctor told him excitedly as they walked out of the TARDIS, and much to Harry's relief, in time for the wedding, which was being held in the gardens of Longbottom Manor.
"They're not that different from muggle ones. Come on, let's go let Neville know we're here," Harry said, grabbing the Doctor's hand and pulling him in the direction of where the wedding was being held.
When they got to the large white tent, Harry poked his head inside and smiled when he saw Neville pacing at the front with Rolf trying to calm him down.
"Nev! Rolf!" Harry called out, walking fully into the tent and pulling the Doctor with him.
"Harry! Doctor! You came! I'm so happy you came! I wasn't sure you'd be able to make it," Neville admitted with a small shrug and a smile.
"Of course I'd come! Like I'd miss your wedding! So, where should we sit?" Harry asked, looking around the large room, noticing that people were starting to arrive and be seated by the ushers.
"At the front with Luna and the boys! Where else would you be? Oh, and quick warning, all the Weasleys have been invited. Couldn't really get out of it," Neville told him with a sheepish shrug.
"Eh, it's alright. We'll just avoid them," Harry told him with a grin tugging the Doctor over to the seats that Neville waved at.
"So, you and the Doctor have finally got together, huh?" Rolf asked them with a grin as he and Neville followed them over to the seats, Luna and the twins soon joining them and grinning widely when she saw their joined hands.
"Oh, you know, we decided to see if it would work out," Harry said with a casual wave of his hand, squeezing the Doctor's with his other hand.
"And it's working out rather well," the Doctor added with a bright smile, getting a laugh from Rolf.
"I can see. Well, better sit down, it'll be starting soon. I'll go talk Neville off the edge," Rolf told them with a laugh as he walked back to where Neville was back to pacing anxiously again. Harry just shook his head and laughed before taking a seat between the Doctor and Luna, and waited for the wedding to begin.
After the wedding, they all stood from their seats and the room was transformed into a beautiful ballroom with seating around the sides of a dance floor, much to the Doctor's excitement.
"Ooh, how do you think they did that?" He asked Harry excitedly, bouncing on the spot as he stared around the transformed room.
"Magic," Harry deadpanned, snickering when the Doctor stopped bouncing and stared at him like he'd ruined Christmas.
"Yes, I know that! What kind of magic?"
"How am I supposed to know. I didn't graduate, remember," Harry pointed out, grinning when the Doctor just huffed at him, then looked confused when Harry cursed and ducked to hide behind the Doctor.
"Harry?"
"Weasleys! Ten o'clock!"
"Er…"
"Nevermind, just know they're there!" Harry hissed, wondering how a Time Lord didn't know the positions of a clock.
"So we avoid them then?" The Doctor asked him, getting a chuckle from Luna, who had moved to stand next to them.
"You don't have to worry, they're not sitting at our table. Come on, the food will be served soon," Luna told them, leading them over to their table and sitting down before turning to face them.
"What?" Harry asked suspiciously, letting the Doctor sit next to Luna seeing as he sort of knew her whereas he didn't know Xeno quite as well. Plus he didn't trust Xeno not to interrogate the Doctor about the things he's seen. Really, it was best for everyone that Harry sat between the two of them.
"How long have you two been together?" She asked them, making Harry and the Doctor stare at one another before shrugging.
"About three months? I guess," Harry told her with a shrug, moving away from the table slightly when the food appeared in front of them - again, to the delight of the Doctor.
"Amazing! Isn't it amazing? You humans, amazing!"
"You blend in more when you don't keep calling us humans," Harry whispered with a smile, rolling his eyes at the excitable man next to him. Really, they should probably go to Diagon Alley, the Doctor would love that.
"You're amazing!"
"I'm going to just pretend that you're talking about me and not wizards collectively. So how have the Weasleys been? Had any run ins with them?" Harry asked as he picked at the food in front of him.
"Well, Hermione and Ron's eldest is the same age as Lorcan and Lysander, and they happen to go to the same school, so we do tend to bump into each other there, but we don't talk much. Not since that Christmas."
"They have children?" Harry asked, feeling a little bad that he didn't know.
"Yeah, two. Rose and Hugo. Ly and Lor don't really get on well with Rose," Luna told them with a grin and a shake of her head as he glanced at the two boys sitting next to her, happily eating their food and talking to their father.
"If she's anything like her mother, then I can't really blame them. They're a bit too willing to accept the unbelievable for Rose to get on with them if she's like Hermione," Harry said with a chuckle, getting an indignant look from the Doctor.
"Who wouldn't accept the unbelievable? Just because you haven't seen something, doesn't mean it doesn't exist! That's a stupid way to live," the Doctor declared, much to Harry's amusement.
"No one at this table is going to dispute that, but maybe we should keep you away from Hermione this time. I don't want you going on a lecture about Raxacoricofallapatorius or something equally hard to say," Harry told him, snickering when the Doctor perked up at the name.
"I love that you know that planet!"
"Well, I do try!" Harry said with a smirk, before he stole a slice of carrot from the Doctor's plate and ate it quickly.
"Oi! That was mine!"
"Not anymore." Harry laughed when he was pushed playfully by the Doctor, and then attempted to protect his own plate from the Doctor who tried to steal something back.
"So where are you two planning on going after you leave here?" Luna asked them, interrupting their mock battle with a small smile.
"Oh, I don't know. We tend to just go wherever the TARDIS takes us," the Doctor told her, making a sound of delight when the main course disappeared and the dessert was put in front of them. "Ooh, sticky toffee pudding!"
"What he means is, he still hasn't worked out how to use the navigator," Harry told Luna with a snicker, getting a glare from the Doctor for his words.
"I know how to use the navigator! Not like you!"
"Hey, she likes me more than you! She lets me just ask her to take us somewhere. I trust her to get us there!"
"I trust her! Mostly. She just gets confused sometimes," the Doctor pointed out, and Harry mentally conceded that he was right, though he'd never admit he agreed within earshot of the TARDIS.
"Well, Rolf loves the photos you took of the diricawls and snidgets! They're so hard to photograph these days," Luna told them with a dazed smile, pushing her plate away from her as she finished and sitting back in her chair to watch Harry and the Doctor together. She couldn't help but wonder just how long it had been for Harry as the two seemed to work together almost seamlessly.
"Glad you liked them! It was quite fun getting them! One of the Diricawls took a liking to the Doctor," Harry told her with a laugh, remembering the Doctor trying to stop the creature from following him into the TARDIS.
"I would have liked to have seen that," Luna admitted with a giggle, smiling innocently when the Doctor shot her an indignant look.
"Don't you start, he didn't let me live it down for a week!" The Doctor told her huffily, which just made Luna giggle even more as Harry laughed at him. Though when Luna's laughter trailed off, Harry glanced at her before slowly turning around and silently groaning when he saw that Ginny was standing there, looking grumpy and unimpressed.
"Hello, Ginevra," Luna said sounding a little more with it than she normally did, pinning Ginny with a narrow-eyed stare.
"Luna. I was expecting to see Harry here. Was he not invited?" She asked, dismissing Harry and the Doctor with barely a glance.
"He was. He sent his regards but he couldn't make it. He's too busy with his lover in Canada," Luna told her, grinning when Harry choked on his drink, the Doctor hurriedly slapping his back even whilst grinning in amusement.
"His lover?!"
"Oh yes. He's met a lovely doctor over there and is travelling around with him," Luna told her, completely ignoring the gasping and spluttering coming from Harry, though she did smile a little when the Doctor winked at her.
"You're lying!"
"I'm really not. He and the Doctor sent their love and best wishes to the happy couple. Perhaps you should finally realise that Harry is not in love with you and move on," Luna said to Ginny with false kindness. Harry by this point had regained his breath and was lightly wheezing and trying not to giggle hysterically.
"I don't believe you! Me and Harry belong together and he'll realise that soon enough!" Ginny hissed at them before storming off in a huff.
"I so won't realise it anytime soon. You're stuck with me, Theta!" Harry declared with a wide smile, wrapping his arms around the Doctor in a hug and kissing his cheek. The Doctor just looked at him and then smiled widely, returning the hug and kiss.
It was past midnight by the time Harry and the Doctor started to say their goodbyes to everyone they'd been introduced to, and made sure to speak with Neville and Hannah a bit longer before finally leaving after saying goodbye. As they left the tent, they passed the table that the Weasleys were sitting at, and Harry happened to make eye contact with Molly, who gasped in shock.
"Harry?" Harry stiffened and automatically grabbed the Doctor's hand, trying to look like he hadn't heard anything and carrying on towards the exit of the tent. "Harry!" Harry was stopped when someone grabbed his arm and turned him around.
"Er… hello?" Harry asked, looking at Molly like he had no idea who she was, glancing at the Doctor over his shoulder with a slightly panicked expression.
The Doctor squeezed his hand and moved to stand behind him closely, wrapping his free arm around Harry's waist.
"Harry! What are you doing here? Who's he?" Molly demanded, glaring at the Doctor for daring to touch Harry so familiarly.
"Erm… Sorry, but I'm not called Harry. I'm Rafe Longbottom, a cousin of Neville's. And this is my partner, Theta," Harry told her, not even blinking at the lie or feeling bad about it. He was starting to get a little fed up with the Weasleys and just wanted to get back to TARDIS and leave this solar system behind.
"Don't lie, Harry! I know it's you!" Molly near shrieked, getting the attention of nearby guests, who started to whisper amongst themselves. And hopefully weren't picking up on what Molly was saying and working out a way to contact the ministry.
"I'm really sorry, but I'm not who you think I am and I really must be going," Harry told her, yanking his arm out of her grasp and stepping further back into the Doctor, who unwrapped his arm from around Harry's waist and began to gently tug him out the tent.
"Where do you think you're going?!" Molly yelled, making Harry roll his eyes and carry on walking with the Doctor.
"Home!" Harry said over his shoulder, grinning when the Doctor chuckled and gave him a happy look. "Come on, let's get out of here."
"As you wish," the Doctor said to him, both of them ignoring Molly's yells at them to come back. "Sorry I made you not change your appearance."
"Nah, it's not your fault. It was bound to happen eventually. Let's just get back to the TARDIS before Molly decides to stop screaming at us and follows us," Harry said with a laugh, deciding to run back to the TARDIS and dragging the Doctor along with him.
"Never thought we'd be running for our lives back to the TARDIS at Neville's wedding," the Doctor said as he ran beside Harry, laughing along with him.
"Well, that's the wizarding world for you!"
"Harry!" Harry jumped at the shout of his name and guiltily looked up from the book he was reading, not really sure why he was feeling guilty seeing as he knew all there was about the Time War, but feeling guilty all the same.
"Er… yeah?" Harry called out, quickly placing the book back on the stand it had been on and ignoring the sense of amusement he got from the TARDIS. Harry then walked out of the library and looked into the hallway, frowning when he didn't see the Doctor. "Theta?"
"Harry! There you are! Were you hiding again?" The Doctor ran around a corner to where Harry was standing, looking at him in confusion then back to the library.
"I was in the library."
"I checked there!"
"Clearly not well enough. You wanted me?" Harry asked him, deciding not to start bickering with the Doctor, he normally ended up losing anyway.
"Yes! I did! I thought we could go on another date!"
"This one isn't going to end up with us almost causing an international disaster again, is it?" Harry asked dryly, thinking back to their last date where the Doctor had inadvertently insulted a person of high status on the planet of Udrinda - which was normally peaceful but they didn't like it when someone asked them about the third eye in the middle of their forehead.
"How was I supposed to know they didn't talk about their third eye? Who does that? It's like not mentioning you have a nose!"
"Yes, well, let's not insult them even further. Where were you thinking of taking me this time?" Harry asked him with a grin, laughing when the Doctor got excited once again.
"I thought we could go to Arcadia! Not the city on Gallifrey, obviously, but the human Arcadia!"
"What to do?"
"Well, I thought we could go get something to eat and then possibly go to a bar or something?"
"You've run out of ideas for weird dates, haven't you?" Harry asked him with amusement, snickering when the Doctor flushed a little and pouted.
"No! I just thought it would be nice to just go on a normal date for once. One that won't end up in us running for our lives or getting arrested," the Doctor told him defensively, Harry just shot him a fond look.
"Okay then! A nice, normal date sounds good to me. After a year of increasingly weirder dates, a normal date sounds nice actually! Though after that, we can go to a more hostile planet as a fix for both our adventurous sides!" Harry told him with a wide grin, before he tugged the Doctor down into a quick but deep kiss and then pulled back and skipped away, "I'm going to go get dressed! I'll find you in the control room when I'm ready!"
Harry and the Doctor had had a great night on Arcadia, and Harry would concede that he was possibly a little drunk as the Doctor cheerfully led him back to where he'd parked the TARDIS. Harry, when drunk, being a little more handsy than he was when sober was currently trying to cop a feel of the Doctor, who was in turn trying to stop Harry from doing so and thus getting arrested for indecent behaviour.
"Harry…" the Doctor muttered, grabbing Harry's hand as it started to unbutton his shirt and tugging Harry to his side, kissing him and mapping out his mouth with his tongue, getting a groan from Harry for his actions. "Don't get us arrested," the Doctor muttered against Harry's mouth before kissing him once more and then going back to leading Harry to the TARDIS.
"Thee…" Harry whined, stumbling into the Doctor and placing a slightly sloppy kiss on the Doctor's neck - which was all he could reach without better motor-neurone skills.
"We're nearly back at the TARDIS," the Doctor muttered, stumbling a little himself, though admittedly better at handing his alcohol than Harry was. Being the Master of Death did not mean one could hold their alcohol. Harry was a light-weight.
"Mmm. Good," Harry mumbled with a nod, pushing his face into the Doctor's neck and nipping it gently, grinning when it made the Doctor jump a little, then licking the abused skin as an apology.
The Doctor gave a soft groan and moved to press Harry against a wall or something, pushing his body against Harry's and kissing him harshly, making Harry moan and arch into him, trying to rub against him. He whined softly when the Doctor pulled away and Harry let his head fall back, looking up at what he was against and grinning when he saw it was the TARDIS.
"Hey, look! TARDIS! Hello, TARDIS!" Harry cooed and giggled a little when the TARDIS sent him a feeling of greeting and great amusement back at him.
"Harry, come on," the Doctor urged, getting Harry's attention back on him and reaching out to hold Harry's hand, pulling him up and against him. Harry smiled up at him and kissed under his chin, giving an almost purr-like noise of happiness when the Doctor then moved to kiss him once more, both stumbling as they moved nearer to the TARDIS and the Doctor blindly fumbled to get the door open without separating from Harry.
Harry kissed the Doctor as they stumbled into the TARDIS, ignoring the feeling of amusement he got from the ship and groaning when he was pressed up against the console, the Doctor quickly moving to stand between his legs and pressing their bodies flush against one another.
"Theta!" Harry gasped, pulling back from the kiss as the doctor pressed their hips together, thrusting against him and increasing the pleasure he was feeling. His breath hitched when the Doctor moved to kiss and nip at his neck. Harry arched into the time lord, trying to get as much contact as he could, whining a little when the Doctor pulled away from him.
Harry looked at the Doctor through heavy-lidded eyes, breathing heavily as he leant against the console. The Doctor just grabbed his hand and pulled him from the control room and through the hallways to his bedroom, closing the door behind them and pressing Harry against the closed door, pulling another gasp from Harry in the process.
"Thee…" Harry groaned, arching into the body holding him against the door, gasping when hands tugged at his shirt, brushing against his skin and making it feel extra-sensitised. They both pulled back from one another slightly to remove their shirts, before the Doctor ran his hands over his chest and then moved to press against him once more, kissing and nibbling at his neck, which Harry arched to give him more room.
Harry dragged his nails down the Doctors back, before moving them to his hips and tugging him closer, quickly moving his hands to the front of his trousers and unbuttoning them, pressing his hand to the bulge there and grinning at the groan that brought.
"Harry… we… we should stop," the Doctor gasped, thrusting his hips into Harry's hand and biting down on his shoulder before soothing the skin with his tongue, gently lapping at the bite mark. Harry gave a little whimper at the thought of stopping and wound a hand in the Doctor's hair, pressing him closer to him.
"No," Harry gasped out, shaking his head a little, "no stopping. More." Harry then tugged the Doctor's head away from his neck and leant up to kiss him, moaning into the kiss when the Doctor pulled him away from the door and over to the bed.
"Are you sure?" the Doctor whispered, sounding slightly breathless as he pulled back a little to look Harry in the eyes. Harry just stared at him and nodded his head, unbuttoning his own trousers and pushing them down, kicking them off before sitting down on the bed and leaning back on his arms to stare up at the Doctor.
"I'm so, so sure," Harry told him, grinning when the Doctor smiled at him widely and took off his remaining clothes, Harry quickly doing the same and shifting to lie on the bed, the Doctor following him to kneel between his legs, bending down to kiss him deeply. Harry moaned, and arched up as the Doctor pressed his body down on top of his own, thrusting his hips down into Harry's.
The Doctor pulled back from the kiss and started to press kisses down Harry's body, spending some time licking and sucking his nipples, grinning when Harry moaned and moved his hands to grip at the Doctor's hair, before the Doctor once more continued his trail of kisses down Harry's body until he reached Harry's erection.
Harry bit his lip and moaned as he felt the Doctor's breath caressing his erection, eyes rolling to the back of his head and back arching when he finally licked a hot, wet stripe up it. He couldn't hold back the wordless cry of pleasure when his erection was engulfed into the hot warmth of the Doctor's mouth, sending lightning bolts of pleasure through his body. All thought left his mind, leaving him in a haze of pleasure when the Doctor started to gently stretch him whilst still licking and sucking his erect penis.
It wasn't long before the Doctor had three fingers stretching him, Harry writhing and moaning in pleasure only to whine when the fingers were removed and the Doctor sat up, leaning forward to press a firm kiss to Harry's mouth before pulling back and covering his own erection with lube - Harry had just enough brain power to wonder where the lube came from but not enough to care to actually find out - before he locked eyes with Harry.
"Don't you dare ask me if I'm sure," Harry threatened breathlessly, watching the Doctor give a small smile before he moved forward to lie over Harry, aligning himself against Harry's entrance and slowly pushing in. Harry gasped at the feeling of being filled, moaning and moving his legs to wrap them around the Doctor's waist, pulling him closer, deeper inside of him. "Theta…"
"Harry…" the Doctor groaned, pressing his lips to Harry's neck, ears, face, anywhere he could reach before kissing Harry fully on the lips, mapping his mouth with his tongue and moaning into the kiss. Harry tangled his fingers into the Doctor's hair, before he pulled away from the kiss and looked at the Doctor, breath hitching as he did.
"Move…" Harry moaned, back arching in pleasure as the Doctor did just that and slowly began to thrust into him, hitting his prostate after a few thrusts and making Harry cry out as the pleasure he was feeling increased. Harry clung to the Doctor, hands running up and down his back, nails digging in lightly each time his prostate was hit.
Harry shuddered and writhed as the pleasure he was feeling just increased more and more, the tingly warmth of his climax starting to rise through him, starting at his toes and making them curl as he flung his head back into the bed. The Doctor's thrusts started to become deeper and faster, both their breathing becoming harsher as their climax rose up in them.
Harry tangled the fingers of one of his hands with one of the Doctor's as he wrapped his other hand around his own erection and started to stroke it, crying out when the Doctor's free hand joined his own. Harry lifted his head to press kisses to the Doctor's neck and chin before the Doctor leant down to press a kiss to his lips just as Harry cried out as his climax washed over him in waves of pleasure, seconds later the Doctor also shouting Harry's name as he thrust one last time and climaxed.
Harry shivered and jerked a little as his body came down from the high of orgasm, shuddering slightly and moaning when the Doctor gently pulled out of him. He detangled his hand from the Doctors to wrap his arms around the Doctor's shoulders, slowly unwrapping his legs from the Doctor's waist so they could move to lie on their sides, facing one another. Harry's eyes fluttered closed as the Doctor lightly ran his fingers over his face before he leant forward and followed the trail of his fingers with his lips.
"Theta…" Harry whispered, still trying to catch his breath a little. He opened his eyes once more and smiled softly at the man who'd captured his heart, before he shifted forward to snuggle into the Doctor's chest, sighing in contentment when the Doctor wrapped his arms around him and pulled him even closer.
Just before he fell asleep, he felt the Doctor press a kiss to his forehead and a wave of delight, contentment and love come from the TARDIS, leaving him something to bask in and giving him some of the best dreams he had had in an age.
"Run! Run!" The Doctor yelled, as he and Harry ran as fast as they could through the halls of the station they had previously happily been walking through as part of their extensive (universe and time-wide) honeymoon trip.
Par for the course with those two, once they had arrived at what was supposed to be a fairly peaceful human settlement on a small planet - apparently it was one of the earlier human exploration settlements and the Doctor found everything adorable and quaint. (Harry found himself wanting to smack the Doctor for being so condescending but annoyingly found it endearing as well) - quickly turned into a nightmare when it was discovered that that annoying species that refused to stay dead was once more trying to change human history.
Harry was getting ready to have some serious words with Death about those bloody Daleks. Why wouldn't they stay dead? (Ironically, probably something many of his own enemies had thought at least once.)
"Really? And here I was thinking of skipping! Shift it slow coach!" Harry yelled as he ran alongside the Doctor, trying his hardest not to laugh with the adrenalin as he knew the Doctor really wouldn't appreciate it right now. Completely understandably, the Doctor really didn't find much amusing when confronted with Daleks.
Except Jammy Dodgers, which was something Harry honestly had no idea what he was going on about. Though he now craved biscuits.
"Sexy better have some bloody biscuits on board when we get to her! And tea! I want some tea!" Harry yelled, gasping slightly as he glanced behind him, and though not actually seeing anything, he could hear their delightful repetitive declarations of extermination.
"I'm sure she'll have a lovely pot of Earl Grey ready for you!"
"She better bloody not! Disgusting stuff! Ceylon or nothing!"
"I can't believe we're talking about tea whilst trying to get away from Daleks."
"Not the weirdest conversation we've had whilst running from something trying to kill us. Do you think the come back kings will ever one day just not come back?"
"Ask your servant!"
"Believe me, I will!" Harry gasped out, skidding to a stop and colliding with the Doctor's back. "Why'd you. Oh."
"Doctor! Doctor!"
"I think they remember you," Harry muttered dryly, shifting slightly to look behind them when he saw more Daleks coming from where they'd been running and effectively backing them into a corner. "So…"
"Any ideas?" The Doctor muttered back to him as they stood side by side against the wall, warily watching the nine Daleks now facing them.
"Think these are the only ones?" Harry whispered, reaching out to grab the Doctor's hand and squeezing it reassuringly.
"I didn't see anymore and we probably would have once they realised I was here."
"Good point. Well they're basically technology, right?"
"I see where you're going with this. But will it work?"
"It worked when they did whatever the hell they did that time they shifted the whole solar system," Harry admitted with a shrug, getting a shocked look from the Doctor.
"You destroyed Daleks back then?"
"I've destroyed toclafane as well. Creepy little balls of death that they were. Now. Try not to die whilst I work my magic. Literally," Harry added with a grin, letting go of the Doctor's hand and wiggling his fingers. Taking a deep breath, Harry then focused on pushing out his magic mixed with a healthy dose of Death's magic mixed in and watched as slowly, one by one, the Daleks starting jerking before shutting down.
Unfortunately, the other Daleks started to notice when their comrades (did Daleks see each other as comrades?) started dying and decided to stop what they rightly saw as the cause.
"Exterminate! Exterminate!" Harry panicked as the remaining two Daleks turned their gunsticks (apparently what they were called and Harry silently thought he would have called them something way cooler) to point at the Doctor. Before really thinking anything through, Harry unleashed a final wave of death magic at the remaining Dalek's even as he through himself in front of the Doctor and getting hit with the blast just as the two Dalek's exploded and the Doctor's pained scream echoed through the halls.
"You never do anything by halves, do you Master?" Harry blinked his eyes open and stared at Death with a sheepish grin.
"I wasn't exactly going to let them kill my husband, was I?" Harry said with a shrug. Death just sighed and gave the impression that it was rolling its eyes.
"I had better send you back then before your husband decides to destroy the planet in his grief."
"Are all the Daleks gone?"
"On this planet, yes. I hope I don't have to see you like this for a while, Master. Enjoy the rest of your honeymoon."
Harry gasped slightly as he felt his spirit get forcefully shoved back into his body. He felt himself being hugged by someone sobbing quietly and realised it was the Doctor.
"Theta?" Harry whispered, coughing slightly to try and clear his throat. Death really didn't do anything good for your throat.
"Harry!" the Doctor gasped out, hugging Harry even tighter to his body. Harry struggled slightly, trying to sit up but eventually gave it up as lost given the tight grip the Doctor had on him.
"Theta, I'm okay. I'm fine. Let's just get back to Sexy, okay?" Harry whispered, reaching up to lightly squeeze the Doctor's wrist of the arm clutching his shoulder.
"I thought you were dead." Harry momentarily considered making a joke but swiftly decided that it really wouldn't be received well given the frame of mind that the Doctor was in.
"My servant would never let that happen, Theta. Come on, let me up and we'll head back to Sexy, okay?" Harry said gently, smiling softly when the Doctor finally let him go and they both stood up on shaky legs.
It was the first time Harry was able to look around them since he'd come back around and he was shocked to see all the Dalek's had exploded and that the two who had killed him seemed to have been vaporised, by Death if Harry was sensing things right.
Ignoring the massacre that they left behind, Harry and the Doctor slowly made their way back to the Tardis, neither one letting go of the other even as they climbed over the rubble on the way back. Harry just silently hoped that this wouldn't affect the Doctor too badly.
Harry grinned as he walked up behind where the Doctor was looking at something on the TARDIS's screens, and wrapped his arms around his waist, pressing a kiss to the back of his neck.
"So where are you taking me today?" Harry asked, moving to stand beside the Doctor and read the screen over his shoulder.
"Earth."
"Never heard of it. Is it nice?" Harry asked with a grin, chuckling at the bland stare he got from the Doctor.
"Haha. Very funny."
"Sorry, sorry. Couldn't resist. Though it has been a while. Thirty years almost. If we're heading to Earth, should my next question be when?"
"Probably wise. We're heading to 1892! Christmas! I thought we could visit some friends. Finally introduce you to them," the Doctor told him cheerfully, as he set their destination and twiddled some random buttons that Harry had no clue what they did because he'd never had to use them when he was allowed to drive the TARDIS.
Which wasn't often.
"So who are you introducing me to?" Harry asked him, deciding to not bother asking exactly what the Doctor was doing. Sometimes it was best not knowing.
"Madam Vastra and Jenny."
"Okay… I'm guessing they've helped you in the past? I mean, you're not exactly one to visit friends. Not that I'm saying that's a bad thing or anything, just surprising that we're actually doing so now," Harry admitted with a small shrug and a smile at the Doctor.
"Ah, well, they have helped me in the past and I just got the feeling I should go visit them. But we're not doing anything dangerous! I promise! I think we should have a break for a little bit, it was a little shocking seeing you die the last time," the Doctor told him quietly, fiddling with buttons and pulleys and not looking at Harry, who just sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Okay, I can agree to that. But you know death isn't permanent for me. I just go visit Death in his realm. You really don't have to worry about me, Theta," Harry told him softly, nudging the Doctor back a little so he could squeeze between him and the console and hug him. A hug that was tightly returned.
"It scared me. I've lost too many people. I don't want to lose you too," the Doctor mumbled into his neck. Harry just smiled softly and shook his head, pressing a soft kiss to the Doctor's head.
"You won't lose me. I promise," Harry told him, squeezing him gently before pulling away and looking him in the face with a wide smile. "So! 1892, huh? Isn't that like, Dickens' time? Ooh! Can we meet him?"
"Well, yes, he's around, but I've already met him and it'd probably be for the best not to meet him again," the Doctor told him regretfully.
"Darn. Ah well. Think we can go see Professor Brian Cox again at some point?" Harry asked with a grin, which widened when the Doctor pouted and glared at a spot just over his shoulder.
"You just want to flirt with him!"
"Well, yes, that's true. But you have to admit he is very interesting."
"Fine, but we're not visiting him."
"FIne fine. So, do we get to wear weird Victorian clothing? Are you actually going to broaden your wardrobe? That is exciting," Harry told him with a quiet laugh, getting an insulted look from the Doctor.
"There's nothing wrong with bow ties."
"Of course not. There's also nothing wrong with a bit of variety. Now stop arguing and let's go see Victorian London!" Harry said witha grin, hoping that this would finally get the Doctor out of his funk slightly and they could go back and finish their honeymoon.
A/N - Well! This took a while, huh? Yeah, I am so sorry about that. I don't actually have any excuse for it other than me being completely arseless and just kinda losing my muse for a little while. And, you know, 2020. What the feck is all this all about, huh?
So I hope everyone is safe and healthy! And, you know, still reading this! I seem to have got my writing game back on (for now, let's not jinx it) though mainly for Dr Who, so the next chapter of this may be posted soonish (for me…) and I've also got a tentative one shot (which may turn into a oneshot with additional drabbles added at later dates) almost finished so that may be posted soon!
(Also, I totally apologise for any mistakes, but quite frankly I'm just relieved to have this out! Lol. I have tried to catch most of them though, but I've probably missed some.)
Let me know what you think! (And, actually, just what you think is a reasonable word length for a one shot. I may post the other fic as a two shot if it's a lot longer than most find reasonable!
Stay safe, everyone! And let's not let 2020 get us down (more than it already has at least)!
