Perhaps his own curiosity was to blame for his current actions, or maybe some sense of honor, but he would get this done. Adrian Foulke, son of Larry 'Pixy' Foulke, was a 16 year old hunter in training, was breaking into an old abandoned airfield in the middle of the evening hours to find something he had discovered the existence of. He had found blueprints of some kind of highly advanced multi-role fighter jet called the ADFX-01 Morgan as well as its location, the old military airfield just outside of Mountain Glenn. Sure it was a stupid idea, but he was extremely curious as to what his father had created. He had disappeared years ago and had never returned. He missed his father deeply and after finding these documents, he perhaps felt he could continue his father's work. Larry was not only a great pilot, but he was also a master aircraft designer. He would often present designs that would end up being bought out by the Atlas military and its R&D section. But, since his disappearance, the Atlas military had seized all designs and assets that his father had kept at his workplace and just left Adrian and his family with nothing. That was, until now, when he had discovered the very aircraft he was about to find.
Thankfully, he was already invested in aerospace engineering and mechanical designs as well as theoretical physics pertaining to aircraft. Flying had always been a dream of his and he had taken several lessons on flying from multiple instructors to get the best learning experience. And much more than that, he had convinced his uncle James to buy a plane in secret and they both had been secretly training Adrian how to fly. Right now, Adrian had to focus on the task at hand as he crawled through the hole in the chain fence that he needed to get through in order to enter the old airfield. He considered himself lucky that he hadn't encountered any Grimm thus far and he walked over the grass and onto the old, cracked tarmac of the airfield. He saw many of the old buildings had either collapsed or were totally empty.
One hangar however, had survived and was in near pristine condition. 'Seems a bit obvious now that I think about it.' He thought to himself as he walked towards the side of the hangar to find a normal sized door waiting for him on the side. It looked old, just like everything else in the old airfield, rusted and looking ready to fall apart. Adrian tried to open the door, but it only budged a small bit, eliciting a loud 'clunk' as it got caught on its own rusted frame and wouldn't budge another inch. At least, until some extra force was applied. Adrian pulled harder as the door opened a bit more, about an inch or two was now open to the air as he pulled one more time and the door opened fully, letting old, stale air flow out into the open air. Adrian pulled out a flashlight as he turned it on and tried to see if there was a power switch.
He somehow knew his father wouldn't leave a workplace without power as he swept his flashlight around for maximum coverage. He saw some kind of aircraft underneath a special cover, which itself was covered in dust. He walked by tool chests full of tools and boards full of designs of various kinds of jets. He soon found the switch as he grabbed it and pulled on it, making the lights turn on and he had to briefly cover his eyes due to the sudden burst of light. His eyes adjusted to the sudden burst of light as he saw the jet sitting in the middle of the hangar, seeing it was longer than most jets and a bit thinner in terms of width as well. He decided to grab the cover and just yank it off. Once that was done, he saw the plane in all its glory, the very plane which he found the blueprints of, the ADFX-01 Morgan. It had a long, main body of around 23.9 m or 78.41 ft which lead back to wings that were oriented differently than most jets, they started out pointing towards the rear of the plane, but they curved and then pointed towards the front. Not to mention, they were a bit short with a total wingspan of 15.7 m or 51.51 ft. It stood on its wheeled landing gear at around 5.7 m or 18.70 ft tall, and weighed in, according to its specs he found with the blueprints, 19.6 metric tons with a maximum combat radius of 3000 Km. Its top speed hadn't been found, as its engines hadn't been pushed to their limits, but his father had clocked it in last at going 2,450 km/h or 1522 mph.
Adrian was in awe as he inspected the jet from its nose to its tail, his eyes glancing over every detail that he could find. The jet was painted white from nose to tail on the top while the underbelly was jet black. The right wing was red on top as there was a set of decals which said 032 on the side of the engine covers underneath the rear tail find and the letters V.A.F. on the side behind the cockpit, standing for Vale Air Force. He grabbed an aircraft boarding ladder and rolled it over to the jet near the cockpit and he opened up its canopy, revealing the cockpit itself. It was very clean for an advanced jet cockpit, it wasn't filled with switches and buttons that could get confusing after a while, it had a lever for adjusting flaps for take off and landing, a stick for controlling the pitch and roll of the aircraft and a set of pedals meant for controlling the yaw. He also saw a set of buttons on top of the stick and a trigger on the front of the stick, both for firing weapons.
The weapons seemed simple at first, a GiL30mm cannon mounted on the nose and long range missiles for air to air combat. But then he saw switches meant for things he didn't recognize, such as the 'Zoisite' Tactical Laser System, the 'Hyperthene' Multi-Purpose Burst Missile, and the 'Morganite' Electronic Counter Measure Pods. As far as he knew, lasers were only an experimental thing that even the highly advanced Atlas was trying to master, and the Burst Missile sounded like an experimental weapon. The Electronic Counter Measure pods were definitely a thing. Atlas scientists created them back in the great war to counter guided missiles of the time. Why would the Morgan need it if it was a time for peace? Regardless, he saw where these special pieces of equipment were mounted. Most obviously, the missiles were placed under the wings.
The laser stuck out like a sore thumb as it was sitting on top of the aircraft itself, mounted on the rear, the pod the weapon was contained in was attached through large struts to the fuselage and had several internal structural strength modifications. The Multi-Purpose Burst Missile were a fair bit bigger than normal missiles, painted mostly black with a yellow trim and a red nose on the warhead. There wasn't any explanation as to what the warheads were filled with, but they were labeled as extremely explosive so, there was that. The pods containing the Electronic Counter Measures themselves were mounted under the wing and close to the engine intakes that were attached to the two huge engines behind them. The two JS-38 Dawnbreaker engines were the most powerful experimental engines that Larry Foulke could find.
He was brought out of his thoughts by a loud crash, which made him snap to attention. He heard voices speaking outside the hangar as he listened closely. "The lights are on again, someone found something in here." A voice he didn't recognize said as he heard it moving from the rear of the hangar towards the door he opened.
"Yeah, door's open, I bet there's something in there that could be the big score of a lifetime." A second voice said as Adrian grit his teeth as he realized he probably shouldn't have turned the lights on.
'Bandits!' He realized as he brought out his weapon, a claymore that transformed into an LMG he called Avalon, and readied himself for them to come in. He went behind a set of tool chests and waited for them. They entered as he saw them both, one was a man standing at around 5'6 with red hair and brown eyes and looking as though he were a skeleton with how thin he seemed. The other was a woman, standing at 5'3, a bit of a short one, with dark brown hair, blue eyes and looking quite athletic. Both were wearing bits and pieces of mismatched, most likely scavenged armor that clattered and clanked as it likely didn't fit either of them properly.
"Whoa! Look at this!" The female said as she walked up to the jet. "This thing'll probably let us do more ambitious raids if we can get this thing in the air." She said as Adrian grit his teeth. No way in hell was he going to let his father's legacy fall into the hands of a pack of bandits who didn't even know what they were doing. He came out of hiding by leaping over the toolboxes and landing a few feet away from the two, pointing his sword at them.
"You're going to get out of here, or you're going to get hurt!" He ordered as the two bandits were quiet for a second from the surprise they felt when they saw him basically appear out of thin air.
"Kill him! He's not a full huntsman yet!" The male exclaimed as they brought out weapons, a hand axe and a simple sword for each of them. Adrian charged forward as he swung Avalon, hitting the male in the ribs as he flung the bandit into a pile of scrap parts and junk, which collapsed on top of him. The other swung the hand axe as it just grazed the right arm of Adrian before she swung with the sword, which was easily deflected by Adrian before he used the blunt part of Avalon to hit the bandit in the face, then kicked her into the wall where one more hit from Avalon to the head knocked her out cold. Adrian knew it would bring more bandits and he didn't want to deal with them.
"I don't want to try this, but I don't really have a choice..." He said to himself as he put Avalon away on his back before gathering up every piece of paper he could find in the hangar relating to jet designs and put it all in the storage compartment he found in the wall behind the pilot seat. He also found a pilot's helmet back there, putting it on as he did so, finding it to be the right size for him. He then cleared any objects that were in front of the main hangar door and then opened the door itself as wide as it could go. He then proceeded strapped himself in and started the engines up as he pulled down the polarized glass of the helmet, seeing a heads up display appear before him, showing his fuel, his damage percentage, ammo, everything.
The engines wined as they spun up, drawing air into them as the plane began to roll forwards, moving outside for the first time in who knew how long. Adrian saw human figures moving through the darkness. More bandits. He just gave the engine more thrust as he taxied onto the old runway, hoping the asphalt was not as damaged as he thought. He pushed the engines to full power as he felt the Morgan accelerate down the runway. He soon felt the plane rising faster than he thought as he saw the altimeter show him rising past the trees, around 140 meters off the ground in just a few seconds, then 200, 300. He let the plane cruise at 450 as he banked and turned the plane towards Vale, heading to pass over it and head to his family home, where he could hide it for when he became a full huntsman and could use it himself.
A minute or two into the flight, he was already cruising over Vale and on his way. Something caught his eye as he was flying over the commercial district, an explosion. He slowed the Morgan down to its minimum flight speed and banked to keep his eye on what was happening down there. His HUD showed Roman Torchwick, a very well known criminal in Vale, facing off against a young woman with a huge scythe that was bigger than her own body on top of a tall building. She and Roman faced each other off until a VTOL transport, Bullhead model, rose up from below and opened its rear door. Roman jumped back while firing a shot of Dust which exploded, but as the dust cleared, a force field of some kind wad surrounding the young girl. It dissipated as an older looking woman, having light blonde hair, glasses, and wearing a dress shirt with a black skirt behind the younger woman, though she moved in front of her as the hud then showed Roman taking the place of the pilot, whom moved to the back before revealing herself.
She had jet black hair, glowing orange eyes, wore a red dress and was wearing high heels. Any other features were obscured by darkness and the two women exchanged attacks for some time. Meanwhile, Adrian felt that he was in the perfect position to do something. He pushed the engines to maximum thrust as he turned the plane towards the Bullhead, the targeting systems targeting the Bullhead's main body. Adrian pressed a button on the side of the stick and the targets had switched to the engines of the Bullhead. Deciding it was a better set of targets, he activated two standard missiles and pulled the trigger.
The two missiles shot forward and streaked towards the Bullhead, one striking the left engine directly as the other did the same to the right engine a microsecond later. The Bullhead dropped immediately without its engines, crashing to the ground below. The HUD showed life signs still holding steady within the wreckage, Adrian sighed in relief as he didn't kill anyone thankfully. He did wonder how he would land the Morgan since the street wasn't long enough to land without having to be towed to a nearby airfield. He looked around the cockpit while circling the crash site. He saw a switch on the control panel that said Hover Mode. How convenient. He flicked the switch as he saw panels opening on the wings, revealing turbines as the engines behind him were dropped to idle automatically while he felt thrust from directly underneath him.
The Morgan had become a VTOL in just a few seconds. He moved the stick forwards and felt the nose tip forwards and the Morgan also moved in that direction, though not dropping anywhere close to the ground. He moved the Morgan close to the wreckage and opened the cockpit up, climbing out of it as he jumped down. He walked over to the wreckage before he saw a figure stumble out of the rear cargo hold. It stumbled into a run and left the area as Adrian couldn't see past the roaring flames of the wreck much. He did however see Roman passed out in the cockpit, knocked out from the impact most likely. He saw the Bullhead had been almost torn in half from the impact as he saw that the cockpit didn't have any flames near it, so it would be the safest way out. He cleared away as much of the busted glass as he could as he reached in and got Roman out of the burning Bullhead before he could be consumed by the flames.
Roman had a bleeding forehead as Adrian tried to clean as best he could given the circumstances. the criminal wouldn't die on his watch. He then heard footsteps to his right and saw both the huntress and the girl with the scythe walking up to him. "You might want to call the cops." He told them. "Because I think this isn't going to be easy to clean up." He added as he looked at them. The huntress sighed as she shook her head, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"No it isn't." She replied as she got out her scroll and called the police at once. Soon, police cruisers and fire trucks came on the scene as well as an ambulance which was to get Roman to a hospital to recover. As that happened, Adrian and the girl were both taken to the police station for questioning. At least, officially.
As they were being put into a police cruiser in the back, Adrian decided to turn to the girl and spoke to her. "Name's Adrian, what's yours?" He asked as the girl smiled at him a bit nervously.
"Ruby. Ruby Rose." She replied as Adrian smiled back at her.
"That's a nice name." He said as they were soon in a standard interrogation room for criminals with the huntress glaring at them both.
"I hope that both of you realize that your actions tonight will not be taken lightly. You both put yourself and others in great danger." The huntress scolded as she had a hard, stern gaze on her face.
"They started it!" The girl denied as the huntress turned to her with a hardened glare.
"If it were up to me, you'd be sent home... With a pat on the back..." She began as Ruby began to smile "...And a slap on the wrist." She said calmly as she demonstrated with her riding crop on the table in front of Ruby as the young girl gave out an "Eeek!" Something that Adrian found somewhat adorable. "As for you, you were flying an aircraft which has not been found in any records whatsoever that I've looked in and also has many weapons only fit for military use and not by a hunter in training at all. If I had my way, you would be stripped of your status and kicked out of Signal forever for doing something so reckless." She said harshly as Adrian thought that it was outright unfair. All he had originally been doing was retrieving it to make sure his father's creation wasn't in the hands of bandits, but he had seen Roman about to escape, and he was in a position which he could act. So he did. The huntress just sighed as she shook her head. "But... there is someone here who would like to meet you both." She added as they heard the door open and out stepped a man who looked both old and young at the same time.
He seemed to be a middle-aged man with tousled silver hair and thin brown eyes, having a light complexion and sharp facial features. Interestingly, he had pure black eyebrows, suggesting that he may have had black hair when he was younger. He wore shaded glass spectacles and a small, purple, cross-shaped pin on the cowl around his neck. His outfit mainly consisted of an unzipped black suit over a dark green, buttoned vest and green shirt. He also wore black trouser shoes and long, dark-green pants. In addition to a cane Adrian saw on his belt, he held a mug bearing the Beacon Academy emblem in one hand and a plate of cookies in the other.
Adrian did recognize him as Professor Ozpin of Beacon academy. What he didn't understand was why Ozpin would take any interest in either of them at all. "Ruby Rose." He said as he leaned in close. Adrian furrowed his brow, wondering why Ozpin would want to lean in that close. "You... have Silver Eyes." He stated which made even Ruby confused.
"Um..." Was all she said as she blinked in confusion.
"So! Where did you learn to do this?" Ozpin asked as he showed Ruby footage of herself fending off crooks with her scythe and easily besting them.
"S-Signal academy." Ruby replied nervously.
"They taught you to use one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?" Ozpin asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Well, one teacher in particular." Ruby said as Ozpin nodded in understanding.
"I see..." He said simply with a sip of his coffee and then put the plate of cookies on the table in front of Ruby. She tentatively picked one up and surprisingly ate it in a single bite, and then, not seeing any rebuttal, shoveled the rest into her mouth.
'Guess she really likes cookies...' Adrian thought with a sweatdrop on the back of his head.
"It's just that I've only seen one other scythe-wielder of that skill before. A dusty, old crow..." Ozpin said as he had a bit of humor flow into his voice at the end. As Ruby seemed to know who he was talking about.
"Thash my uncul..." Ruby began, but swallowed the cookies in her mouth, blushing in embarrassment. "Sorry. That's my Uncle Qrow. He's a teacher at Signal. I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing. And now, I'm all like-" She explained before making karate noises while doing some very stiff and clearly fake moves. Ozpin just chuckled at the cute act as he smiled.
"So I've noticed." He stated as he placed his cup on the table as he leaned in, then sat down opposite Ruby "And what is an adorable girl such as yourself doing at a school designed to train warriors?" He asked as Ruby shrugged while looking off to the side.
"Well... I want to be a Huntress." She stated as Ozpin raised an eyebrow.
"You want to slay monsters?" He asked a bit skeptically.
"Yeah! I only have two more years of training left at Signal! And then I'm going to apply to Beacon!" Ruby replied as she began to smile with her enthusiasm growing with each second. "You see, my sister's starting there this year, and she's trying to become a Huntress, and I'm trying to become a Huntress 'cause I wanna help people. My parents always taught us to help others, so I thought, 'Hey, I might as well make a career out of it!'" She explained with a giggle. "I mean the police are alright, but Huntsmen and Huntresses are just so much more romantic and exciting and cool and really, gosh, you know!" She explained at length with a really wide smile. Ozpin and Glynda just stared as Adrian chuckled at how cute Ruby was acting.
"And you, Adrian Foulke, you are also attending Signal, aren't you?" Ozpin asked as Adrian nodded.
"Yeah. I am." Adrian replied simply, not feeling he should expand any further on it.
"Why did you decide to be a hunter?" Ozpin asked as he wasn't certain if he wanted to bring up the topic of the ADFX-01 that Adrian had found just yet. Adrian just sighed as he recalled the reason he wanted to become a hunter.
"My father... he died years ago... Mountain Glenn." He said, making everyone in the room wince in recognition.
"Your father was one of the victims, wasn't he?" Ozpin asked knowingly as Adrian nodded.
"After that, I didn't want anyone else to experience the same pain I did when I lost my father that day, so I wanted to protect others and spare them the pain of loss." Adrian continued. Ozpin nodded silently. "So, I worked hard to become a hunter, pushing myself past limits and bringing myself to where I am today, with only one year left to go before I can try to apply to the top academies to become a full fledged huntsman. I was specifically aiming for Beacon, but I never really got my hopes up for it." He admitted as Ozpin stared at both of them silently before he spoke once more.
"Do you know who I am?" He asked as both Ruby and Adrian blinked in some confusion.
"You're Professor Ozpin. You're the headmaster at Beacon." Ruby spoke first as Ozpin smiled.
"Hello." He greeted playfully as Ruby smiled back.
"Nice to meet you." Ruby replied as she had a smile of her own on her face.
"You both want to come to my school?" Ozpin asked as Ruby nodded quickly as Adrian nodded a bit more slowly.
"More than anything." Ruby said as she was bouncing in her seat. Adrian just stared at her as he then turned back to Ozpin.
"If you'd really have me and her, then I suppose so." Adrain said as he wasn't sure what Ozpin would say at all. Ozpin exchanged glances with Glynda, who showed her obvious disapproval with a "Hmmph" before Ozpin turned back to Ruby and Adrian, smiling.
"Well, okay." He said as Ruby and Adrian couldn't believe their ears.
"You're... not joking, are you?" Adrian asked as Ozpin shook his head.
"If I was, why would I come all the way down here to see you?" He asked as Adrian nodded. He supposed it made sense. He then stood up.
"When do we leave?" He asked as Ozpin raised his hand.
"Not now. The airship at 7:00am tomorrow. I'd like to welcome you personally to Beacon Academy." He explained as Adrian nodded.
"Thanks Ozpin, I'm not going to disappoint you." Adrian said with a small smile as Ruby nodded alongside him.
"Yeah, we're gonna be the best students you've ever seen!" Ruby proclaimed as Ozpin chuckled.
"Very well. Show me what you can do once you arrive." He said as he left the room and Glynda lead them out of the building and sent them on their way home. Glynda let Adrian know that his plane was going to be placed inside the hangar of Beacon and would be waiting for him upon his arrival. Adrian turned to Ruby as they were about to part ways.
"Guess I'll see you at Beacon Ruby." He said as Ruby smiled up at him.
"Sure. I'll see you there." She said, hoping to see him again as Adrian went his own way, getting to his home after many a street was walked upon. He collapsed on his bed as he thought over the day's events. Perhaps this could have gone better than it had if something different happened. Then again, maybe it could have been worse, he wasn't sure then. He would have to find out what Ozpin really was going to do with the Morgan, he didn't go all that way to just leave it in a Beacon lockup or something. Adrian just fell asleep, deciding to let it slide for now.
The next day, Adrian woke up at around 5:00 in the morning and did his usual routine, shower first, put some clothes on, then breakfast, then packing up all kinds of clothing and equipment to take with him to Beacon. The Morgan remained in his mind for most of the day as he got to the Airship Station at 6:45, getting on said airship and it later took off. He soon however encountered Ruby, but saw an older girl utterly crushing the air out of her. She had golden yellow hair which was long, flowing and down to her back, lilac eyes and a strong looking body. She wore a tan jacket that bared her midriff, with golden brown piping and short, puffy sleeves with black cuffs that featured two gold buttons. Underneath that, she wore a low cut yellow crop top with an emblem on the left breast in black.
She also wore a brown belt covered by a pleated brown piece of material reaching from hip to hip around the back of her waist, with her emblem emblazoned on the right-most pleat in gold. Underneath that was a long, white, asymmetrical piece of material reaching to her knee on the right side, as well as a pair of black mini-shorts. She also wore a pair of brown, knee-high boots and orange over-the-knee socks, with the right sock pushed down just below the knee. A gray bandanna was tied around her left knee. An orange infinity scarf and black fingerless gloves completed her outfit. Before he could process the sight in front of him, he heard the blonde girl speak with a wide grin on her face. "Oh, I can't believe my baby sister is going to Beacon with me! This is the best day ever!" She said as poor Ruby was trying desperately to get out of the girl's death grip, gasping for any air she could get. Though what the blonde girl had said made Adrian confused. A sister? Really? That was a bit surprising.
"Please stop." Ruby pleaded as she was near breathless, turning a bit blue around her cheeks. The blonde girl eventually released Ruby as she got her breath back at last.
The blonde girl however, just smiled widely as she ruffled Ruby's hair a bit. "But I'm so proud of you!" She said as Ruby blushed and pouted.
"Really Sis, it was nothing." Ruby replied insistantly, confirming they were sisters. The blonde girl threw her arms up in exasperation over Ruby calling her actions last night to be 'nothing'.
"What do you mean? It was incredible! Everyone at Beacon is going to think you're the bee's knees." She stated as Ruby shuffled nervously, looking at the floor for a second.
"I don't want to be the 'bee's knees', okay? I don't want to be any kind of knees! I just want to be a normal girl with normal knees." Ruby replied as Adrian decided to step in.
"You know that was a figure of speech, right?" Adrian asked as Ruby jumped a bit in surprise, but soon calmed down.
"Oh, Adrian! Didn't see you there!" Ruby said in surprise, she then cleared her throat and motioned to her sister, then back to Adrian. "This is my Sister Yang. And Yang, this is Adrian." She introduced them to each other, Yang looked Adrian up and down, scrutinizing him before she smiled.
"Yep, Yang is my name, nice to meet you Adrian." Yang said cheerfully as she held out a hand, which Adrian took as the two shook hands.
"A pleasure Yang." He replied, noting how much more firm her grip was compared to other people's. Even stronger than even other Hunters in training. He wasn't quite sure if he should ask the question if there were different mothers or fathers for her and Ruby, so he decided to ask a different question. "So, you and Ruby, you both act so different, are you really sisters?" He asked as Yang laughed.
"Yeah we are." She stated as she wrapped an arm around Ruby's shoulders casually. "We might be different, but we love one another a whole lot." She said as Ruby nodded.
"Yeah, we don' get along sometimes, but I wouldn't trade Yang for anyone else to be my sister." Ruby said in agreement. "Even if she's sometimes overbearing." She muttered on the side as Yang put on a look of false shock, placing her hands on her chest to complete the look.
"Why, Ruby, you wound me so." She said as she then laughed. "What's with you though? Aren't you excited?" Yang asked as Ruby shuffled a bit nervously.
"Of course I'm excited... I just..." Ruby sighed as she held her left arm with her right hand. "I got moved ahead two years. I don't want people to think I'm special or anything." She replied as Adrian realized she was truly trying to be as humble as possible. She didn't really want glory or any sort of fame. She genuinely wanted to just help people because that made her happy. Of course, Yang just wrapped an arm around Ruby's shoulders again.
"But you are special." She insisted. Suddenly, the three's attention was drawn to a broadcast which was showing a newswoman who was talking about the details of a robbery gone wrong, one that Adrian and Ruby knew all too well.
"The robbery was led by nefarious criminal Roman Torchwick, who was apprehended after the intervention of a Huntress, many witnesses have claimed that a fighter jet of unknown make was responsible for his capture, but authorities are dismissing these claims, claiming them to be unfounded. Back to you, Lisa." The newswoman said as the camera then focused on famous tv reporter Lisa Lavender, famous for her exploits and her lavender hair, she was well known even in other kingdoms for going out of her way to get the truth of any story she was assigned to.
"Thank you, Cyril. In other news, this Saturday's Faunus Civil Rights protest turned dark when members of the White Fang disrupted the ceremony. The once peaceful organization has now disrupted-" Lisa began before she was cut off and replaced by Glynda Goodwitch without warning.
"Hello, and welcome to Beacon!" She began as Yang raised an eyebrow.
"Who's that?" She asked as Adrian was going to speak, but was cut off by Glynda.
"My name is Glynda Goodwitch." She introduced as Yang blushed in embarrassment.
"Oh." She said as Ruby let out a giggle and Adrian just rolled his eyes in amusement.
"You are among a privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy! Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace, and as future Huntsmen and Huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task, and now it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world." Glynda said as the message then ended rather unceremoniously. Ruby then saw a great view of Vale from a nearby viewport covered with glass, almost like a wall.
"Oh, wow! Look, you can see Signal from up here!" Ruby exclaimed in awe as Yang and Adrian followed her gaze and did indeed see Signal down below. "I guess home isn't too far after all!" Ruby said as Yang just smiled.
"Beacon's our home, now." She said as she gave a pat on Ruby's shoulder. Suddenly, all 3 heard someone gag and run past them to the back of the ship. From what Adrian saw, he was a male of around 6'1 in height, looking quite toned in his upper body, he had blond hair and dark-blue eyes, and was wearing a black, short sleeved hoodie with detached reddish-orange sleeves. Covering his hoodie was a white diamond-shaped chest plate cut off above his lower abdomen, and placed over his shoulders were a pair of white spaulders with rerebraces set under them. Below, he wore blue jeans with a white patch placed on the left knee and black sneakers. A few seconds after he disappeared from view, they heard full on vomiting noises, making all three reel in disgust. "Well... I guess the view isn't for everyone." Yang stated as she rolled her eyes in some degree of annoyance. Ruby just shrugged.
"It was a nice moment while it lasted." Ruby stated before she put a finger to her chin in thought. "I wonder who we're gonna meet! I just hope they're better than Vomit Boy." She said optimistically at first, but then losing her enthusiasm when she was referring to the young man who had run by them earlier.
"I dunno. Maybe. Let's just hope they're all decent people." Adrian stated as he saw they were nearing Beacon Academy, which looked much bigger than he thought it would based on the pictures he had seen. Ruby and Yang were also in awe as they soon stepped off of the airship as soon as the ship had been docked.
"Wow..." They both said in their awe.
"The view from Vale's got nothing on this!" Yang stated with a smile as Ruby suddenly went ga-ga over the weapons some of the students had in their possession. She somehow also underwent a transformation into a chibi version of herself. She had her clothing, hair color and eye color, but her head was enlarged, her body shrunk and distorted in such a way that her body looked like a miniature version of itself. How in the world that happened, Adrian had no clue as it didn't seem physically possible. Ruby was zipping all around the place, looking over every weapon she could.
"Ohmygosh, sis! That kid's got a collapsible staff! And she's got a fire sword!" Ruby said rapidly as Yang managed to grab her by the cape and pull her back into reality, and somehow transformed her back to her much more realistically proportioned human form.
"Easy there, little sister. They're just weapons!" Yang told Ruby, who got out of Yang's grip.
"'Just weapons'? They're an extension of ourselves! They're a part of us! Oh, they're so cool!" Ruby corrected Yang as she had a big grin on her face. Yang rolled her eyes in amusement.
"Well, why can't you swoon over your own weapon? Aren't you happy with it?" She asked as Ruby brought out Crescent Rose and unfurled it. Adrian saw for the first time how big it really was up close. It had to have been a foot or two taller than Ruby if it stood up straight and probably weighed just as much as herself. Its huge blade glinted in the sunlight whenever she moved it to one side.
"Of course I'm happy with Crescent Rose! I just really like seeing new ones. It's like meeting new people, but better..." Ruby said as she gave Crescent Rose a twirl before Yang pulled her sister's hood over her head.
"Ruby, come on, why don't you go try and make some friends of your own?" Yang asked as Ruby pulled her hood off of her head, giving a slight glare to her sister in annoyance.
"But... why would I need friends if I have you?" She asked as Adrian rolled his eyes, having enough of this kind of argument.
"Ruby, the reason you would need them is quite possibly you could get benefits, such as people you can talk to without having them judge you." Adrian said as Ruby gave him a look, which made him sigh. "Okay, maybe they'd judge you a little, but it's only because they want to know what kind of person you really are and maybe help you out with any issues you might have. The whole point to making friends is to find people who can help you through just about anything. I get you're an antisocial introvert of sorts, but still, sometimes you have to meet people regardless of that." Adrian said as Ruby sighed, shaking her head.
"Alright, I'll give it a shot I guess." She said as all of a sudden, Yang was surrounded by a large group of people.
"Actually, my friends are here. Gotta go catch up. 'Kay, see ya, bye!" She said all to quickly as Ruby and Adrian were left behind, Ruby's head and eyes spinning from Yang's rapid exit.
"Wait, where are you going?! Are we supposed to go to our dorms? Where are our dorms? Do we have dorms?" She called after Yang, but she was already long gone. Ruby, still reeling, was not watching where she was going. "I don't know what I'm doing..." Ruby should have watched where she was going as she suddenly took a tumble onto a luggage cart which sent suitcases flying and spilling everywhere. That was when a shrill voice yelled out from behind Ruby.
"What are you doing?!" Ruby looked behind her, and Adrian followed her eyes to see a young woman who was glaring down at Ruby. She was a pale skinned young woman with pale blue eyes and long white hair that was pulled back into an off-center ponytail/braid on the right side and pinned with a silver, icicle-shaped tiara. She stood at 5' 3" in heels, and had a scar which ran vertically down her left eye and face down to the center of her left cheek. She wore a thigh-length strapless dress with a faint color gradation from white to pale blue at the hem. A small piece of black lace sat in the front of her neckline and the hem of the dress was scalloped and stitched to resemble snowflakes, with layers of white tulle under the skirt. Over that, she wore a bell-sleeved bolero with the same color gradation as her dress from shoulder to wrist, lined in red and with a ruffled collar. On the back of the bolero was none other than the Schnee family Crest.
She also wore a small apple pendant on a silver chain and thin, rectangular silver earrings. Her boots were white, wedged heeled, and higher at the back than the front. They had a small silver decoration across the top of the foot and were lined in red. A thin white sash was tied around her waist with a pouch attached to the back. She looked very angry with Ruby as she had her hands on her hips. Ruby quickly got up, dusting herself off. "Uh, sorry!" She apologized as the girl only seemed to get more angry.
"Sorry?! Do you have any idea of the damage you could have caused?" She demanded as Ruby held up a case, a bit confused.
"Uuhhh..." She said as the girl ripped it out of her hand.
"Give me that!" She then opened it to reveal its contents. "This is Dust - mined and purified from the Schnee quarry!" She said as Ruby became even more confused and flustered by how overbearing the girl was acting.
"Uuuhhhh..." Was all she could say, her mind blank on how to respond. The girl in front of her however, took it entirely the wrong way.
"What are you, brain-dead?" She asked as she took out a vial of red Dust and shut the case. "Dust! Fire, water, lightning, energy!" She said, trying to simplify it. However, she also shook the vial of dust at Ruby to try and get her point across, making some of the Dust leak out from the improperly sealed container and into Ruby's sinuses.
"I... I know..." She said as she coughed a bit, making Adrian concerned.
"Uh, ma'am, you might want to stop, some of the Dust is leaking!" He stated as the girl glared at him now.
"Do you mind!? I'm trying to teach her a lesson and you're interrupting me!" She retorted as suddenly, without warning, Ruby sneezed, causing an explosion of fire, lightning and snow right onto the girl in front of her, the vial flying out of her hand to who knew where.
"Told you..." Adrian said in total deadpan, thankfully being out of the blast zone of the explosion.
"Unbelievable! This is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about!" The girl said angrily as she shook the soot from the explosion off of her. Ruby frowned and held her hands in a pleading position.
"I'm really, really sorry!" She said, trying to apologize for blowing up the girl in front of her, but the girl just glared harder.
"Ugh, you complete dolt! What are you even doing here? Aren't you a little young to be attending Beacon?" The girl asked as Ruby blinked and realized that she was a bit out of place at Beacon.
"Well, I-I..." Ruby stammered, but the girl wasn't done.
"This isn't your ordinary combat school. It's not just sparring and practice, you know! We're here to fight monsters, so... watch where you're going!" She said as Ruby was finally fed up with the girl's attitude.
"Hey, I said I was sorry, princess!" She said, throwing a mild insult, but before the girl could reply, a rather reserved sounding voice spoke up.
"It's heiress, actually." They all turned and saw the source of the voice approaching them, she was a fair-skinned young woman with wavy black hair and amber eyes. She wore a black, buttoned vest with coattails and a single silver button on the front. Underneath that was a white, sleeveless, high necked, crop undershirt and white shorts with a zipper on the front of each leg. She also wore black low-heeled boots and full stockings with a color gradation of black to purple at her ankles. Her emblem was visible on the outside of both thighs just below her shorts in white. On her left arm was a black detached sleeve with a silver cuff around her bicep, and black ribbons were wrapped around both forearms. A small, loose, black scarf was wrapped around her neck, and a gray magnetic backpack was also strapped to her back, hidden by her hair. She kept her weapon attached to the magnetic backpack, must have always done so when she wasn't using it. In addition, she wore a black ribbon tied with a large bow on the top of her head, She also wore purple eyeshadow in Cats' eye style. Her voice was even, almost as though it were as flat as a pancake if that made any sense. She had the vial of dust that Weiss had lost in one hand as she was approaching them. "Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest producers of energy propellant in the world." She explained as Weiss began to smile smugly.
"Finally! Some recognition!" She said happily as the new girl then smirked.
"The same company infamous for its controversial labor forces and questionable business partners." She added as Weiss' face fell, eyes wide with her jaw as low as it could go. Adrian and Ruby chuckled as Weiss' face was priceless.
"Wha- How dare- The nerve of... Ugh!" She stuttered as she got up in the girl's face and ripped the dust vial out of her hand and stormed off, collecting her luggage along the way. Adrian turned back to the girl and smiled at her.
"Nice one. About time she stopped berating everybody." He said as the girl giggled a bit.
"Thanks." She replied as she was about to walk to the auditorium, but Adrian spoke up.
"Hold on, what's your name?" He asked as the girl turned back to him, at first having an unsure expression, but relented anyway.
"Blake. Blake Belladonna." She introduced. Adrian nodded as he smiled.
"Adrian Foulke." He introduced as Ruby waved beside him.
"Ruby Rose." She added as Blake had a slight smile.
"A pleasure." She said as she walked off.
"Welcome to Beacon..." Ruby muttered as Adrian smiled down at her.
"Come on, we'd better get going." He said as Ruby smiled in return and nodded, the two heading for the Auditorium to hear the headmaster's opening speech. Though Adrian wanted to have a few words with Yang for abandoning her sister like this!
AN: So, this is how Adrian comes to Beacon. Yeah, a bit over the top, but I'm trying to at least make sure he at least gets some kind of action in the first chapter. Anyways, the rest of future Team AROW are up next, so look forward to that. I'm still open for suggestions on what kind of future aircraft that the teams will receive later on. I truly hope that I will be able to take your considerations to heart, thank you and good night!
