Chapter One: The First Several Years

Angelica Teach couldn't believe how horrible her luck had been. She had finally reunited with Jack,.. the man she loved and now he had killed her father and deserted her here on the Isle of De Mureta and she was about a few months into her pregnancy already. For the next several months she worked extremely hard to build her and her baby a shelter, gather food (she mostly survived on fish, coconuts, and berries) and before she knew it the moment had finally arrived to where she was about to give birth to the child of the legendary Captain Jack Sparrow.

Angelica let out an agonizing scream as she pushed a six-pound baby girl out of her womb and into the world. As she cut the umbilical cord with her dagger the beautiful baby girl began to cry. Angelica gathered her child inside her arms, and she began to hush her and rock her. Although she didn't have much hair yet, to her complete and utter relief her daughter looked more like her instead of her ex-lover.

She had dirty-blonde hair and bright blue eyes that she already assumed that would change to be more like hers as she grew older. Angelica started singing softly to soothe her daughter's crying as she wrapped her up inside one of her puffy white shirts.

"My name is Maria, a merchant daughter's fair, and I have left my parents and three thousand pounds a year. My heart is pierced by Cupid, I disdain all glittering gold. There is nothing that can console me but my jolly sailor bold." She sung before kissing the top of her head as she closed her eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep. "Buenas noches mi Maria." She whispered before giving her the full name of Maria Louise Teach which means star of the sea and warrior which is what she knew her daughter would grow up to be.

As time went by Maria grew older. Before Angelica knew it she was crawling, eat solid food, and then eventually starting to teethe, grow her first tooth, and eventually after that walk and talk. It seemed like with every new tooth that Maria got, every new word she learned. Of course by the time she was two her favorite word was no just like any other two-year old, and by the time she was three her mother started teaching her English as well as Spanish although she mostly spoke to her in her native tongue.

She also started teaching her the alphabet and then how to read and write and add and subtract after that. For the first several years of Maria's life weren't all that enjoyable to her as it was like with most little children because since the time that she was a baby her mother had been explaining to her that they mostly had to focus on staying alive and surviving. Then one day on Maria's seventh birthday she decided to go exploring the island without telling her mother where she was going.

She was sick and tired of being alone and even though she loved all of the dolphins that she had made friends with, she longed for another human friend. Of course she also knew that she had to be cautious because she remembered the story that her mother had told her about the time that her Aunt Sarah was just about her age before she was abducted by pirates and she never saw her older brother again.

What her mother didn't understand though is that she longed for the life of a pirate. She longed to meet her father and find out what he was truly like. Obviously she knew better than to bring this up with her mother though. However, as she was walking alongside of the island that's when she saw it. A great big pirate ship called the Remises was sailing straight towards their island. Suddenly Maria got extremely excited because she knew that there was a pretty big chance that they would finally be getting rescued as she hurried out into the water and waded there looking at the magnificent vessel with her now hazel colored eyes.

"Madre ven rapido! Es un barco!" She exclaimed excitedly which was a signal for her mother to come quick since there was a ship approaching them. Angelica finally found her daughter and gasped and widened her eyes in response as she couldn't believe it. A few moments later a woman that had a face that resembled that of Elizabeth Swann's and a silver locket around her neck stepped off the ship once her first mate dropped anchor.

Once Angelica had explained her situation the woman smiled at her and offered her a ride back to Port Royal. Angelica instantly thanked her and then picked Maria up and carried her on board the ship. After they got back home quite a few more years passed, and in that time, Angelica taught Maria how to be a pirate and take care of herself. She also taught her that she didn't need to rely on a man's help to survive and kept reminding her how they survived on that deserted island for several years without any help.

However, now that Maria was officially twelve years old that all changed. For she decided that she was going to finally find her father whether her mother liked it or not. For after all, she knew that she couldn't keep her away from him forever.
