It has felt like ages since I last posted a chapter in here and it has been over two months since I did last put the chapter up so I wanted to put this long one up and say that the Epilogue which is next will be the last one of this story but I can tell you that there will be more to come from me.
-.-
Charles stood outside of the Bath house and looked up at it for a moment. Both his parents were in because he could see his fathers car and this had been the first time he had been back here since getting back from Syria, he hadn't even spoke to his mother but he knew that he had to.
He dugged in to his pocket and grabbed out the keys to the house and stepping up to the door he took a deep breath and put the key in the lock. It was noisy when he opened the door, there was sound of laughter from women. Great, his mother had company this was going to be really bloody awkward but he shut the door and left is coat on the hook by the door then walked into the dinning room.
The laughter died down when they realised who had walked in, he was in his uniform and he put his keys into the pocket of his trousers. "Hello mum" he said after a moment and then smiled slightly at her. He knew that he had been a horrible son but he knew that it was for a good reason because his mother had treated his wife -ex wife- really poorly and he was going to be putting his foot down so that she couldn't do that again.
Molly wasn't going to suffer that crap again he would make damn sure of that.
"Charles" Pam spoke and put her cup down on it's saucer and then stood up, walking around to give her son a hug. She didn't know he had returned from Syria yet he was standing there like this image that she and her ladies had thought up; Charles returned the hug which she was glad about.
He stood up straight and looked in her eyes "We need to talk, in private" Charles didn't want the ladies to hear what he said because he wasn't going to be pleasant about what he was going to say.
"We will be going Pam, darling" one of the ladies said and they all stood up and grabbed their stuff and each one of them gave Charles a kiss on the cheek, he had known them for years so they were each like a second family member.
The door shut and he worried a moment but he then looked back at his mother and took his beret off before he starting to squeeze it in his hands, like he was wringing it out, and then put it down on the table.
"Whatever it is that you want to say, Charles, just spit it out" she sat back down in her seat that she had vacated moments before. It didn't look good because he would only get like this when he was nervous.
"I'm going to ask Molly to marry me again and before you say anything you need to make it up to her on everything and I mean everything" he watched her for a moment and then sighed, his eyes looking down at the ground. "Mum you are important to me but so is she and Adam, they are my world and I want to be with them but I will choose them every time you decide to throw a paddy at Molly"
Pam stayed quiet for a moment and then closed her eyes. She sighed under her breath and then opened her eyes back up and looked at her son. "I remember the day that Molly left, and the heartbroken look you had on your face because of the fact your wife had walked away but I also saw the smile on your face when you spoke about her after Sierra Leone and how worried she had been when you were lost, that's love Charles, that is the most beautiful love and alright I didn't like her in the beginning-" she gave her son a look when he scoffed at that "I wanted better for you after Rebecca but I didn't think your heart would heal so quickly after you two broke up"
Charles sat down and poured himself a cup of tea from one of the tea pots that was sat at the table and then licked his bottom lip "Mum, I am so happy with Molly, I love her and more than anything I want to be with her and I'm going to do that with or without you in my life but I want you to be in it, I want you to accept the woman that I love and love Adam like you do Sam"
Pam watched him for a moment and then reached down for her handbag and pulled her purse out and then showed him a picture that Molly had given her after she visited "I already do" she said with a soft smile "and yes I have a lot to make up for with Molly but I can promise you that I will never interfere with you and her again" she put her purse back into her handbag and then reached for her sons hands "It's good to see you smiling again"
"And you promise that you will not say another bad thing about Molly or try to have him taken away from her"
"I promise I won't do any of that and I will make it up to her as best as I can"
Charles then leaned forward "There is something that you can do for me"
"Name it and I will do it" she smiled once more at her son.
-.-
Once Pam done the thing that Charles asked her he then said to her "Do you want to meet him? Adam"
"I'd like that very much, just let me know when I can"
Charles pressed send on his phone and he then got up and walked to the front door, opening it up and standing there was Molly and his son, he let them in and Adam held his hand as they walked in to the dining room "How about now"
The little boy was shy as he looked at Pam and then up to his daddy before looking back at Pam who had stood back up and walked over to him. She crouched down to his height and smiled at him "Hello" she had missed much of his years but she was willing to make up time with the small boy.
Molly watched them and if she was honest this was a side of Pam she hadn't seen before, this woman screamed Grandmother and sometimes wicked witch but watching Adam and her together it was cute. She looked over at Charles when she felt a hand slip in to hers and she squeezed it.
It was going to take a while between the two of them but as long as Pam didn't make any stupid moves then she was willing to make the first step and leave the two of them alone. "I'll make tea" she whispered to Charles and then slipped out of the room and in to the kitchen.
Molly was stood at the kettle and then she felt arms go around her waist and smiled before she leaned back into the arms of her Captain. "You're warm" she whispered to him.
"And you're beautiful" he whispered back and then kissed the top of her head and chewed on his lip.
This was safe, this was warm and this was the place she wanted to be.
"I have something to tell you" Molly broke the silence and leaned forward when the kettle turned off and she poured the water in to the cups and then waited before she turned around. "I've been asked to take on a mission to Iraq and I-" she was then cut off by him.
"You should go, we will be fine here, plus you are a damn good medic and I will say that time and time again, you should go" he smiled down at her before letting her go when she moved out his way to grab the milk from the fridge.
"I want to go but I don't like leaving Adam, I will miss too much" Molly sighed and poured the milk in to the cup and then returned the milk back to the fridge. "and then there's you.."
"Meaning?" he asked and watched her.
"I don't want you to feel like the moment you decide to leave the Army that I want to jump on the mission bandwagon and leave you with our son"
"That is the furthest from my mind because I know you well enough that I know you wouldn't do that, plus this will go in your case file on every mission you go on, you should go and again we will be fine here" he kissed the top of her head again.
Molly smiled this time when he kissed her head before she held on to him in a hug. She breathed softly against his chest and closed her eyes. It was good to have him back in her life, to have him back as her love. This was the place she always wanted to be, to be next to his heart as she listened to it beating away in his chest.
They would all be staying the night there.
And maybe Elvis was right: All is well in the world.
-.-
Molly looked in the mirror as she pulled her hair back from her face, she was three days away from deploying to Iraq but of course she always had time to have dinner with her handsome boyfriend? Partner? She wasn't really sure what to call Charles because they weren't married but they were a lot further than just boyfriend and girlfriend so she couldn't really put a name to what they were.
She looked in the mirror and smiled at herself. Adam was at Pam and Robert's they loved having him plus they were having Sam so it would give the two of them a chance to actually get to know each other and while she was still very cautious of Pam she knew she would have to prove herself at some point so why not now, plus she was going to be away in Iraq for six months.
Molly had been adamant that she didn't really want to go for a meal but Charles won in the end and she got up from the desk and moved out the bedroom door and along the hallway. They had talked about getting a place together and had been looking but at the moment they hadn't found anything and with Charles giving up the Army he would either have to move in with her or back to Bath and even he said that he would prefer to be with her rather than miles away in Bath.
He picked her up and they went to this beautiful restaurant that she had wanted to try for a long time but it was always so busy in here that she didn't have any time to really try the place out but tonight they were here.
Molly ordered the steak, and Charles ordered the same and they spoke about different things and how she was happy to really be back with him, all of that in the end had been worth it.
"I'm worried" she said after their plates had been taken away by the waiters and a bottle of wine was brought to their table once more for a top up.
"Why?"
"Because of what happened in Sierra Leone" she admitted "I don't want to go through that again, I never thought I would see you or Adam again and it worries me when I think about going on missions away from the UK, what if it happens again and this time SF aren't lucky enough to get me"
Charles reaches out for her hands which she takes "I'm not going to say that it wouldn't happen again because we always take that risk every time we go out in to the world to help other countries and the wars we've been in but the one thing about -" he dropped his voice so only she could hear him "Special Forces is that they are relentless and they will never stop looking for you, no matter what" he knew that she understood SF a lot more than she was saying. "And you know that both Bones and Elvis will always make sure of that"
It was the first time they had spoken about Bones in a long while. She came to realise that Charles didn't care about the fact another man was in love with her because Bones would always take care of her out in the world when he couldn't. Even though half the time she didn't need someone caring about her.
Elvis couldn't keep his promise to Georgie that long because he loved being out in the world and making a difference than training the guys who would be out there making the difference for him. Special Forces was being stationed out in Iraq too but would have to jump on a helicopter and plane if they were needed anywhere else.
They ordered dessert and the talk went away from her fears to the light times they had together and while they had mostly been under stress when it came to his mother there were times they could truly laugh about and she was glad that they had worked it out in the end, the two of them together as it should be.
They finished up dessert and Charles excused himself to go to the bathroom and Molly looked out the window on to the road and then took a sip of wine. Even though she hadn't originally wanted to come she was glad that they had. It had been a night that they had needed and one they wouldn't get for about six months.
She heard her mobile vibrating in her purse and she quickly reached in for it and it was a video call from Pam. Molly's heart was going a mile a minute, what if something was wrong? The only way to really find out was to answer it.
"Oh Molly dear, I know that you're out for dinner but there is something I really need to show you!" she said in a rush and now Molly's heart was doing a mile a minute that she didn't even see that she wasn't alone anymore. The camera was put in to Adam and Sam and they were holding something and written on it was these words:
MOLLY, WILL YOU MARRY OUR DAD AGAIN?
Molly looked over and saw that Charles was down on one knee with a box open and smiling up at her "So, what do you say, Dawes? Do you want to marry me again and become my wife?"
"Well they do say that the third time is the charm" she laughed at him and the video call was still on so that the boys and Pam could see them. "Yes, hell yes!" Molly grinned and Sam and Pam clapped their hands and Adam followed along but wasn't sure why, Molly laughed once more.
Charles beamed with so much happiness that he took the ring out of the box, it was a beautiful ring that consisted of a gold band with three diamonds on it, the bigger one in the middle while there were two smaller ones on each side. It wasn't the ring she had had before but she didn't care. He slipped it on to her ring finger and kissed her, the whole restaurant clapped and whistled and Molly laughed against Charles' lips.
Tonight was one of the best nights of their lives, finally they were back together and while she was going on deployment in three days she was going to spend those three days wearing her beautiful engagement ring and having family time with those that she loved. Pam had turned the videocall off so that they could have a little bit of privacy but she was really glad that her son had finally got the woman he really loved back.
Nothing beat that at all.
-.-
