Love Struck Delusion

Chapter 269 - My last fight.

Zeta's POV.

"Voltz to command. You guys reading me, over?"

My whole head shot back to the radio as this time Hoffer took it to reply back.

"Loud and clear. What's your status?"

Everyone was staring at him as Raptor replied.

"Status is green over. I've managed to secure the HVTs and we're proceeding to extract. You're cleared hot to send in the cavalry."

"Impressive." Zandro said out loud as Hoffer smiled and said to Raptor next.

"I'll give the order, but help still won't be there for at least two hours."

"I'll have them in the sky well before then command. Have to cut comms again. Pilot will radio in when he makes the pickup."

"Understood." Hoffer replied as I let out a deep sigh as the comms went silent again.

Hoffer took the next few seconds to smile and look around the room. Once his eyes landed on the room full of G.U.N officers, he said to them.

"You heard the man. Let's get this ball rolling. We're moving out."

"Yes sir!" They all replied as I began to watch the room empty. Hoffer, Zandro, Pepper, Cody, and Peek all remained once it was cleared out and I couldn't just sit here any longer. Looking to Hoffer I asked him.

"Is it okay if I tag along for the ride sir?"

"What?" Pepper questioned in confusion as I grabbed my M4 off the table next to me to stand back up. Hoffer looked me over carefully to ask back.

"Are you sure? This isn't your fight."

Nodding my head I replied.

"I'm sure. I can't sit here any longer. And it might not look like it, but that idiot who's out there risking his life is my fight. I know what I'm signing on for."

Hoffer understood after giving me a small chuckle. Zandro on the other hand just smiled as Pepper quickly asked me in disbelief.

"Are you serious Zeta? Listen to the man. This isn't our fight."

Looking back at my sister I replied bluntly to her statement.

"I don't give a shit who's fight it is. Raptor is my fight. He can feel free to do all the dumb shit he wants, but at the end of the day I'm gonna be by his side for it."

"Zeta!" She shouted at me as I shouted back almost instantly.

"If he fucking dies what the hell am I going to do!?"

Pepper's tongue got cut off at the question. Approaching her and giving her a small push back, I yelled at her in almost tears.

"What are we going to do!? Do you know?!"

My sister couldn't fight back. She just listened as I then said to her.

"I'm in this with him. He's not allowed to die by himself. So don't Zeta me. If anything you should be coming along. Where would you be without him?" My question sat there with her and in the end I just skipped over it to tell her.

"I'm going."

I began to step back and as I did I saw her face lose its confusion. It just turned all into sadness as she managed to mutter.

"Wait….I'm coming."

I smiled as she grabbed her AK and began to jog to me by the exit. Right as she made it to my side Cody stated to Peek.

"We aren't getting paid till this is over. Might as well see it through."

Peek smiled and got up to reply.

"Unlike most of the things we do I for once like these odds. You're lucky I love you."

Cody blushed a bit as he quickly made a break for Pepper and I. Once all ready we found ourselves hitching rides with the convoy and began the trip to Afghanistan.

Raptor's POV.

"Hey? Alex?! "Drake and Hecan held right behind me as the guard from outside must have heard us. Lowering my MP7 and urging the two of them back further into the corner just in case, I reached into my vest and pulled out my knife. Holding it out from my chest, I waited till the soldier reached the entrance of the door before swinging out to stab him right in the throat. Pinning him to the door with all I had, I stared right into his eyes to rip the blade out from the far right side of his neck. Blood poured all over him as I pushed him to the side to bleed out among his already dead friends. Drake and Hecan didn't say a word as I looked out into the hallway to see no one coming. Keeping my voice down I told them.

"We're clear for now."

"What are we going to do Raptor?" Hecan asked me as Drake stepped forward to begin dragging the body out of sight of the doorway. I came back over to where Hecan was and listened as Drake added.

"We can't fight everyone out there. Your buddy was right about that. The second the alarm goes we'll be surrounded and Hecan's not combat trained."

Looking to the fox in question I asked him.

"Do you know how to fire a weapon?"

Nodding he replied.

"I can handle a pistol."

Nodding once, I reached out to Drake who handed me one of the spare M9s that were laying around. Hecan took it from my hands next as I went on to say.

"Just in case."

Hecan smiled slightly and looking back at Drake I said to him bluntly.

"I don't know a way out of this building that doesn't involve us getting into trouble. All the entrances I know of are guarded. Apart from a select few, but getting to them isn't going to be easy. The building is filled with foot traffic right now. The best bet is a distraction."

"You got something in mind?" Drake wondered as I nodded and looked up at the two sprinklers in the room above us. His eyes followed as I said to him.

"The capital has its own separate alarm for fires. A few days ago this building was hit. A blast took out the majority of the vehicles and the garage John mentioned. But on my way in I got a good look at it. It's taped off and is under construction, but there isn't a single hand over there at this hour. Apart from the main gate detail and the men on the wall. Now I can make my way to the mess hall. They still got gas stoves in there. I play around for a bit and make something go up and they'll have to all act. Because there are plenty of workers up there as we speak and mainly because the floors above it are all wood. Majority of the interior is wood."

"They'll have to act fast otherwise they risk losing the second floor above. Maybe the whole building." Hecan marveled as I nodded and urged them both.

"You'd still have to get out without being noticed. Take their uniforms and run with the crowds. But don't leave this room till you know I've made my move. Once you leave; Hecan you stick right on his ass. Drake?"

The wolf looked right back to me. Currently he was obeying my commands by getting a uniform off and ready for Hecan. With our eyes locked I said to him.

"Trusting you on this. Don't let him out of your sight."

"I got him. Don't worry about that. Where are we gonna meet up after this? How are you gonna get out?"

Checking my MP7, I quickly changed out mags and replied.

"I'm not going to."

Hecan was lost for a moment, but quickly caught on enough to question.

"You can't be serious? You heard your man. Our army will be here soon."

Drake understood what my intentions were by this. Thankfully him being a soldier finally helped him relate to me a little. I watched as he took off my belt and lowered my M4. Keeping my focus on Hecan however I replied.

"I know. But this is something I have to do. We discussed this at the meeting. Drake is trained and once you get out of here he can get you both to safety. Here Drake. I said to him as I took of my comm and handed it over to the wolf. He took it and traded me back my M4 and belt. Tossing the sling over my shoulder, I then said to Drake as he went back to collecting a uniform.

"Channel is set to radio in the pilot who will pick you both up. The plane needs room to come in, but if you go out the way I told you, there is a hotel about two blocks north. Tallest building in the area and an easy climb to the roof where you can radio it in."

"I got ya." Drake replied as Hecan approached me. The little fox was still unsure of what to say to me at this point. Now that we were truly here it seemed a lot harder for him to understand. However I offered him my hand and stated.

"It's been a pleasure sir. Now get out of here."

Hecan took my hand and we began to shake. Once done he said to me.

"Thank you Raptor. I owe you everything."

I took that for what it was and turned for the hallway with my MP7 up and ready. Hecan watched as I walked off and once out of his sight I refocused on my powers and used it to get to the mess. At this hour I was glad to see it empty.

"Okay." I mumbled to myself as I put my gun down to begin walking into the kitchen.

I had memories of this whole building. The time I spent here haunted me as I began to turn on the stoves. I could smell the gas cooking as I focused on finding a way to cause a fire without a huge blast to go with it. Then it came to me. Grabbing a bottle of cooking oil from a nearby pantry, I started to fling it around dosing as much as I could from the stoves to the walls around. Once I neared halfway empty I began to make a break for the exit leaving a small trail the whole way through. When I got far enough away I began to search through my pants for my lighter. The second I got it between my fingers, I let out a small sigh and sparked up the flame, gently lowering it till it found the trail of oil. My whole body got warm when the heat came like a wave out of hell and began to make its way into the kitchen. Despite my intentions, when it reached its goal there was a pretty nasty blast. Enough to shake the room and enough to get me running.

Archer's POV.

I panicked when I felt a rumble under my feet. Carter who was by my side, asked when it happened.

"What the hell was that?"

I was unsure but widened my eyes when the fire alarm was raised. Standing out of my seat I began to make my way out of the office. Carter followed along till we reached the stairs to see everyone and their mothers coming in from outside the capital. I was still just as confused as it seemed they were all heading towards the mess hall. Fire extinguishers were leaving the walls like black friday merchandise.

Slowly making my way downstairs, I asked out loud hoping I'd get an answer.

"What the hell is going on?!"

One soldier stopped just under me to reply.

"Something happened in the mess! A fire has broken loose sir!"

Widening my eyes I then shouted.

"Well get your ass in high gear! The whole room is wooden! We could lose the second floor above for fucks sake!"

The soldier got running as I looked back at Carter to order him.

"Go after them and make sure we don't lose the whole fucking building."

"Yes sir!" He replied as I slowly backed my way up the stairs.

This is a fucking nightmare. Something always has to happen when I'm just starting to feel good. I'd be damned if this is how my night was ruined.

Carter's POV.

This was just our luck. I moved as fast as I could to get my hands on a fire extinguisher. Once I had it I directed myself with the crowd. The mess hall was never so crowded. Soldiers and people alike working in tandem to stop a fire that I swear to you had taken the whole room in a matter of seconds. Smoke filled the air and I got to work on helping a few guys put out a patch of flames near the door leading into the kitchen itself. I couldn't hear a thing from that point on. There had to be thirty of us trying to do this. Progress was slow but I gained some ground when the doorway could be passed through without fear of being burned. When I entered the kitchen however I widened my eyes when part of the ceiling had started to collapse just above the stoves.

"Someone hit the sprinklers for fucks sake!" I shouted out as the fire was beginning to do more harm then we were doing good. With my extinguisher going full auto, I looked back when one of the men screamed out.

"They aren't working!"

"Keep trying!" I replied as I began to sweat under all this pressure.

Time began to pass and things were only getting worse by the second. With the sprinklers still not working, I panicked when another part of the ceiling came down from above. This one nearly hit me. I had to back up to get some space, and with more than myself beginning to lose hope, I watched as a few tried to make a break for the exit. I was just about to yell at them for being cowards, but the second they reached the doors they just bounced off them screaming.

"The doors are locked!"

"What!?" I questioned as a crowd began to pile up in an effort to bust them down.

I dropped what I was doing to go see for myself. Screaming began to fill the room as it was clear we were trapped. It only got worse when someone got lit on fire and began to run and roll for their lives.

"Get those doors open!"

My orders were a mute point. There was too much yelling and when I looked back at the kitchen I felt my heart start racing like never before. The whole floor above was coming down on top of us. The flames approaching us from all sides, and nowhere to go. I was at a loss for what to do. People were beginning to die and I'd join in no time if we couldn't get away.

Raptor's POV.

A few good zipties around the handles meant I had them trapped. I could hear the ceiling in there falling down and people screaming. Then came the banging on the door once they found out they couldn't leave. That included Carter who I knew was in there.

Leaving him to his fate, I turned off and went for the main lobby again in hopes of catching Archer. Which was excatly what happened when I got there. With the second floor coming down and the fire getting worse, it looked like what securty he had left convinced him to leave the area. There was at least twenty of them, all guarding him as they ran out the front.

"Hey!"

I flicked back towards the mess to see a soldier running at me. Instantly I pulled up my MP7 and fired off half a clip. The rounds made quick work of him and not soon after I got the attention of my troops who were beginning to flock towards the fires. At first they were unaware, but it didn't take long for them to see the body just a few feet away.

In all sense of the word, I went to react to it, but was quickly shocked when the ceiling between us began to crumble. The men themselves looked up just in time to see it coming down. And using what time I had, I ran in the oppisite direction back towards the side stairs in hopes of retaking the second floor and then the roof. When I got to the top of the stairs two more soldiers came running my way with a small group of civilans. I did my best to aim carefully but it couldn't be avoided. The rest of my clip took them down along with two others who got in the way. With my clip dry, I switched to my M4 and ran for the same maintenance room I came in from. The body was still there and running by it, I ran outside and took cover behind one of the AC units. My focus was on finding Archer. Which was easy enough to spot when I found his group by the main gate trying to get it open. I didn't want to waste time, so I took aim at him and readied myself to pull the trigger. Yet before that happened I felt the ground shake again. From there I heard over the comm I stole.

"We have an intruder! Repeat! We have an enemy inside the capital! All security teams are to converge on the area!"

"Shit." I mumbled as I refocused on Archer who was busy screaming at one of his men.

mT Shadow.
