Mai's P.O.V:

"-ake up! Wake up!" someone shook me and I opened my eyes sleepily. "Mai! Wake up! We've arrived home!" Gene shook me excitedly. I picked my head up from Naru's shoulder and turned over to look at Gene. His eyes were bugging out of his head as he stared intensely out the windshield at Uncle Martin and Auntie Luella's mansion, our new home. I rubbed my sleepy eyes, trying to wake myself up. I slept like a log on the plane ride to Cambridge and on the car ride to the house. I sleep a lot due to the mental strain my untrained latent ESP causes; it's quite dangerous since it also makes me very vulnerable to any and all spirits who notice my powers. Mother never got the chance to find someone to help me control my powers before she got that car accident and passed away. Uncle Martin will probably find someone to train me along with Naru and Gene once we get settled down here. Gene leaped out of the car as soon as the car stopped and darted towards the front door and I quickly shuffled out after him.

"Calm down! You're behaving like a child!" Naru scolded Gene as he slid out of the car, last of the three of us and the calmest. He coolly walked over to strode over to us and pushed us through the front door. We all step through the threshold of our new home together.

"Welcome home you three!" Uncle Martin and Auntie Luella greeted us as soon as we walked in and gave us all a big, warm hug.

"I'm home." Naru whispered faintly; I think I was the only one who heard him. That was adorable. I looked over at him with an impish smile; he met my gaze and quick;y turned away, flushed red as a ripe tomato.

"From today on, this will be your home!" Uncle Martin excitedly declared, "Now, go ahead and explore the place while we bring your luggages to your rooms, alright?"

"Okay!" I squealed as I grabbed Naru and Gene's hand and pulled them upstairs towards the library, "You guys will love the library!" We made our way upstairs to the library. Naru and Gene were awestruck by Uncle's massive collection of books, all on parapsychological research.

"Woah! This is awesome!" Gene exclaimed as he ran towards the closest bookshelf and began searching for a good title to read. He looked like a kid in a candy store; I guess they both really love parapsychology. Naru slowly made his way to another shelf, probably careful not to let on his excitement - afraid I would tease him. He searched through the rows and rows until he seemingly found what he wanted; he quietly made his way to one of the study tables, sat down, and began reading. Curious, I walked over to him and peeked at what he was reading: 'Controlling Psychokinesis: Preventing Poltergeists'.

"Did he become interested in parapsychology because he caused poltergeists?" I thought to myself. I wonder why he and Gene ended at that facility? Where were their parents? "Why are you so interested in poltergeists?" I asked directly. He looked up from his book and thought about his answer for a bit.

"Because I don't want to cause anymore trouble," he whispered as he looked down in his book again, "I don't want to hurt anyone by accident." He had a complex look on his face that I couldn't read.

"You don't cause trouble!" I declared, " Nothing is your fault; your abilities going out of control is not your fault!" Not knowing how to comfort him in any other way, I reached out and hugged him. He shouldn't have to feel burdened by his abilities. "Uncle Martin will find someone to teach us how to control our abilities, so you don't have to bear the responsibility alone."

Right on cue, Uncle Martin knocked on the door of the library and peeked in. "Your rooms are ready!" He announced, "Come. I'll show you the way." He led us to the rooms closest to the library. "Luella and I thought you three would like your rooms to the library seeing how the library was the first place you three wanted to explore first." He opened the door to the two rooms for the twins. The rooms were painted a striking sapphire blue and decorated with golden constellations across the ceiling; it was magical yet sophisticated, like the twins. "You two boys will be sharing a bathroom together; your rooms are connected by the bathroom." He informed them that it was stocked full of all their necessities so all that's left is for them to settle in. Gene quickly took to exploring his room: checking out the small collection of books in the bookshelf, counting the drawers in the desk, looking for a place to unpack his clothes. Naru was still a little guarded as he made his way in the room, seemingly afraid that someone would take everything away from him, and slowly began unpacking his belongings as well. "Mai, you are in the room across from them and, lucky you, you get a bathroom all to yourself!" He flung open my door like a magician presenting his assistant whole again after she'd been "sawed in half". The room was opposite of the boys in every way; it was painted a soft sky blue and clouds were painted across the ceiling. I love my room; it fit me somehow. I, too, began to unpack what little belongings I had into my new closet; Auntie Luella seems to have already begun to fill it with new clothes for me.

"Why don't the three of you take a bath and get changed?" Uncle Martin suggested, "Afterwards, we will go out to dinner to celebrate today and I have someone very special I want to introduce you guys to." We gave him a brief nod, headed back into our rooms, and began to prepare for dinner. I wanted to shower and change out of my clothes; I felt gross after being in that facility for so long, then a long plane ride, then another long car ride to reach "home". I have to get used to calling it that now.

I hopped in the shower trying to wash my hair as fast as I could. Auntie Luella filled my bathroom with all sorts of beauty products; I was at a loss on what to use. I hastily dried my hair with a blow dryer that I found, threw on a random dress, and made my way downstairs. Naru and Gene were already waiting downstairs in the lounge by the door with Auntie and Uncle. Uncle Martin was making small talk with Gene, Naru had his nose in the book from the library, and Auntie Luella tried to keep Gene and Uncle Martin's conversation, but she was struggling since they were speaking entirely in Japanese. Uncle Martin was mostly fluent in Japanese while Auntie Luella was still learning the basics. "I'm sorry for taking so long." I apologized, "I didn't mean to make everyone wait for me."

"It's okay Mai." Naru, surprisingly, assured me as he snapped his book shut and looked up at me, "You've been exhausted; you deserve to have some time to yourself." He smiled a small smile and I stood there dazzled by him. His smile turned into a smirk, " What? Is my handsome face too much to behold?" He teased. I flushed red and turned my gaze to the floor. Auntie Luella just stared at our interaction confused; hopefully, she didn't understand what Naru just said.

"Okay children. It's time to head to dinner now. We wouldn't want to keep that special person waiting." Auntie Luella led us out the door to the car. She's as punctual as the queen herself; an extremely proper English woman. The three of us shuffled into the backseats and Uncle drove us to dinner. We were quickly seated after we had arrived; it seems that Uncle and Auntie had made a reservation. The staff were dressed very nicely; is this one of those "fancy restaurants" that they talk about in the movies? I was lost in thought when I saw Uncle Martin lightly wave over to a young man, probably around college age, standing at the entrance. The man nodded towards Uncle to signal he had seen him waving. He let the hostess know that he was a party and she ushered him over to our table.

"It's good to see you." Uncle politely greeted the man and he turned to introduce him to us, "Children, this is Lin Koujo; he is one of my researchers at the University and at SPR. He will be your teacher from today onwards."
