Love Struck Delusion
Chapter 284 - I'm here to help.
Zeta's POV, Later that night.
"Thank you for coming." I told Doctor Clamer as he had just managed to get cleared through security.
Clamer took my hands and together we walked. Pepper was right behind me as he calmly replied.
"It's no problem at all Zeta. Marx and I have been in close communication over these last few weeks. Memory loss was a concern to us from the moment we found out he was in a coma."
"What's gonna happen?" I asked as I escorted him through medical.
Just outside Raptor's room where Char stood guard, Clamer replied.
"It's all going to depend on how his current mental state is. Marx has a rough idea how far back Raptor's memory may be right now, but together we should be able to come to a conclusion and figure out the steps to take, but listen to Marx. Stay out here and let us work with him. It's going to be hard I know, but this needs to happen. His mind is very fragile right now. We can't risk sending him off course."
"Okay." I replied as he hugged me. Pepper smiled with some hope as Clamer slowly let me go and asked Char.
"May I?"
"Of course doctor." He replied as he opened the door. I got one good look at Raptor and from what I could see before the door shut, was that Marx was already talking to him. Yet all I could think about was how bad this was going to get. If they had to break the news to him again about his family…...I just….?
A tear came to me and very softly Pepper pulled me back and whispered.
"Come on. Let's go to your room."
Marx's POV.
Raptor's focus shifted the second he saw Doctor Clamer enter the room. Almost instantly he asked.
"Doctor Clamer? What are you doing here?"
The fox got himself seated down right next to Raptor's other side. Adjusting his glasses and smiling, Clamer replied.
"I'm here because of you. How do you feel?"
"Horrible. I don't even know what happened. Marx…..he told me about my injuries, but I still don't know how. What's going on? Why am I at the capital?"
I looked to Clamer for help because I was still unsure how to really go about this. I was a physical doctor. He was a mental doctor. If anything I was looking to him for help. Which he knew was the case the second I showed him my concern. Gently shifting in his chair, Clamer replied to him.
"Before I tell you what happened Raptor I need to ask you a question beforehand. I want you to think about this question very seriously for me and tell me the honest truth. What do you remember before waking up here? Anything at all? You told Marx you hadn't seen him in how long?"
"Years." Raptor replied as I was certain he was suffering from memory loss. Clamer seemed to nod his head at the answer, but waited till Raptor had continued answering his question. The pair of us as doctors sat and listened as he very carefully, but very certainly informed us.
"I….I remember being outside my house. I was….I was just waiting for Ghost and Midnight to come downstairs. We were going to the park. Then Archer pulled up with Hecan Moore of all people. They wanted to talk to me about…...about filling in for the open position the rebellion has for a commanding officer. Alicia was there and she seemed against it. So did I at first, but after…...ughhhh…..oh my god….?"
Nether Clamer or myself had any idea what he was talking about. He had to be speaking from what he saw inside his coma. His mind must have taken him somewhere completely different. I had no clue what to say, but thankfully Clamer was on top of the problem by calmly asking him next; as it was clear to me that Raptor was in pain. His head was killing him.
"Is that where everything ended for you? Is that all you can recall?"
Looking back up at the fox he replied.
"I remember a lot of things doc. How can you not? We talked all the time after Alicia convinced me to stand down."
"Remind me Raptor. What did she stop you from doing?"
Raptor looked somewhat unsure of how to respond to Clamer's question. I think all he could do was answer him regardless and when it came out we both understood for a fact that his memory was altered.
"The treaty? The one Shadow made? It was voided, but before it happened I wanted to go to Pakistan to talk to General Hannon. I needed answers. Mainly just because I wasn't understanding why the rebellion was just letting it happen. But she told me it wasn't worth it and my focus was to be on my children. So I listened to her doc. It was the hardest thing for me to do, but I listened and she was right. Ghost and I are friends. I finally managed to get through to him on a level he understood. I feel like a good father for once you know? I spent the last two weeks making things better."
I had my mouth wide open in complete distraught. Clamer however was keeping his act together somehow. I had no idea what to do other than listen as he went on to say in a lost voice.
"After G.U.N voided the treaty they got to work and put together a better one. Despite my feelings, Alicia was right. It all worked out for the best. Things are getting better for once. I just don't know what happened. Where's my family doc? Are they okay?"
Raptor looked to Clamer for the answer and this was the moment of truth. Raptor for a moment looked to see my face and once it was clear something was up to him he asked again.
"What? What's wrong?"
Clamer let out a small sigh. As he did he reached out to ask Raptor.
"Do you know what day it was when you were sitting outside waiting for them?"
Raptor's face grew lost as he struggled to remember that. Once he did however he replied.
"It was about a week after Christmas. Why?"
My eyes were glued to Clamer as he reached into his pocket to pull out his phone. Raptor looked at it as Clamer unlocked his screen and began to scroll through his apps. Once he found his calendar, he turned to face Raptor, who he then urged calmly.
"Look at this. Tell me what day today is."
Raptor's face turned south when he saw the date. For about a minute he stared at it. Clamer knew the damage was done so slowly pulled his phone back till it was back on his lap. Raptor at which point questioned.
"That can't be right. Your messing with me Doc. What is this about? Are you tryna to test something on me?"
Shaking his head Clamer replied.
"Not at all Raptor. But I promise you right now that my phone is correct."
"It can't be. It doesn't make any sense."
"It makes perfect sense Raptor." He replied back.
Raptor was completely lost. To where he looked at Clamer to ask.
"How?"
Clamer looked at me. I knew it was my time to jump in. So clearing my throat and sitting up closer to my friend, I replied.
"You've been in a coma Raptor."
Raptor's eyes went wide as he heard me claim that. But Clamer was urging me to go on with the truth so I told him it. No matter what would come from it.
"It's been a little over two weeks since you were conscious."
"What happened?" He asked me as I calmly replied.
"You were severely wounded when your friends found you. When we did we found out the extent of those injuries. Your legs are broken. They'll heal nicely on their own, but you're going to remain in bed for another three or four weeks depending on how fast they heal. You broke your arm, but again it's healing nicely. You suffered a heavy laceration on your lower back which was how you passed out originally. Blood loss was heavy and I had to give you over forty five stitches. You also have a lot of facial damage which I also had to deal with. There will be scars leftover from it, but you should consider yourself lucky that's the worst of it."
"I still don't understand how." Raptor muttered to me as I nodded my head and struggled to put the words together. Clamer thankfully filled in and dropped the bomb we knew that we knew had to come.
"What you said you remembered? Raptor I'm sorry to tell you this, but it was all just a dream. Your mind drifted to a different place during your coma. It's extremely common and sometimes it's all people can remember. The dreams themselves are lucid enough to convince you they're real, but I assure you they aren't."
"But Alicia….?"
"Alicia has been dead for well over two months now Raptor."
Raptor's POV.
"So has Ghost and Midnight." Clamer told me with a heavy heart as I felt something in my head shatter. Almost immediately Clamer said to me after.
"I'm really sorry. Raptor?" I looked away. My eyes on the dog as Clamer begged me.
"Take your time. I know it's a lot."
Marx was staring at me as I was beginning to shake. This had to be a dream. This isn't real. It can't be. I was just with my family. I was living that life. Something was wrong. This couldn't be reality. This was all a trick. Looking back at Clamer I mumbled.
"This isn't real. You're lying. This is all in my head."
Clamer widened his eyes as I began to look around the room. At the same time I said out loud.
"Something isn't right. I shouldn't be here. This has to be another dream. I'm stuck in some kind of nightmare. I just need to wake up. I just…?" I looked at my only good hand which was at my side. Very slowly I got an idea. Gently curling up my hand into a ball, I took action and brought it up as fast and as hard as I could into my face. I felt my knuckles make contact with my nose and for some reason all I felt was pain as both Marx and Clamer jumped up from their chairs. As I went for another lick, Clamer took a hold over my wrist ordering me.
"Stop Raptor!"
At the same time the dog sitting on my lap began to bark at me.
"Let me go! This isn't real! You're not real! I just need to wake up! Let me wake up!" I screamed at him as he held my arm down.
In a matter of seconds I felt something prick my neck. Looking over I saw Marx. My eyes began to fade and lose focus and feeling my head go limp; I laid back down on the pillow and shut my eyes.
Marx's POV.
"He's out." I told Clamer as I had to give Raptor a sedative.
Clamer released his arm and once he did he let out a scared but heavy breath of air. I too sighed in relief as we managed to end that before it got any worse. My attention however was on the facts and I told Clamer the facts.
"He's not stable. He doesn't know what to believe and after that I'm afraid what would happen if he woke up alone here."
Clamer slowly nodded. I carefully got Molly down off the bed and listened as Clamer said back to me in due time.
"This isn't what I wanted. But…..what else can we do for him? He's going to wake up again and I'm worried that no matter what we say he's just going to try that again."
"I'm hoping if we give him enough time; his memory will come back. It has too. We just shouldn't have said anything like that this early."
Clamer fixed his glasses and after some time asked me.
"Is there anything you can give him to help calm his nerves? He needs to be dosed. Like this, he's going to be impossible to convince."
"I'm more concerned for his health Clamer." I replied as he nodded and said back.
"So am I. Raptor has always been suicidal. He's had habits of hurting himself during times like this. I should know. That needs to be our main concern going forward."
"I'll put him on a low dose of Xanax first. Hopefully that will be enough to help his mind calm down. Next time he wakes up we need to have a better plan."
Clamer agreed and as I took my seat again, he said to me bluntly.
"Get one of your people to tie down his arm. I don't want him hurting himself again."
He was right to request that. I knew just as well as he did that Raptor could and would try it again. The issue was still out there however and I had no idea how to proceed.
Marcus's POV, A few minutes later.
I sighed as I stood alongside Raptor. It felt wrong. I knew what I was doing and it only made this worse. But I had to see. I just had to know and understand if he was really capable of being a god. Yet that required a lot to prove. Shadow couldn't handle this torture. Raptor however was twice as strong, if not three times stronger than him. Yet what I was doing to him I felt would crack anyone. Of any ability. Yet how could I know if I was playing nice.
My head turned back just in time to see the door open behind me. My eyes watched as Zeta walked in to widen her eyes. Almost immediately questioning.
"Marcus?"
I stared at her. She didn't dare move her body. Yet her mouth did. The second the first word left her; I vanished.
"What are you….?"
Zeta's POV.
He disappeared almost instantly as I tried to ask him a question. Leaving me to ask myself just what it was he was doing here. What could he have been up to? Where has he been this whole time and why hasn't he stepped in to help?
The questions began to pile on as I approached Raptor's bedside to see him still sound asleep.
mT Shadow.
