Love Struck Delusion
Chapter 286 - Things will get better.
Char's POV, Thirty minutes later.
Things were going well. Surprisingly well in fact. Luna turned out to be a very easy person to talk to. She was empathic and extremely good at listening. But what made her special was that she was one of the few people in life who would ask questions and somehow maintain the ability to be somewhat engrossed. It didn't really matter what I talked about. She would listen. And thankfully since Diz left, I've done a lot of talking. Enough to get comfortable and not feel awkward anymore.
We had a few drinks since Diz left and it was getting dark outside. My friends remained at my old table and from time to time Luna would look at them. She just seemed to smile at whatever it was they were doing. I didn't dare look back because the last thing I wanted was one of them to embarrass me. Yet for all I knew they were doing that exact thing right now. Still I said fuck it and managed to keep my focus as Ron had a small movie night emerging. Fuck if I knew what he was playing but it had most of everyone quiet and paying attention. Which allowed me to focus more on Luna. Less noise and it just felt cozy. However looking at my watch, I saw it was getting past the time I said I'd be in for the night.
"You have to be somewhere?" Luna's voice called out to me as I widened my eyes from the sudden surprise of the question. Yet my response turned back around after a small chuckle. Luna just smiled as I replied to her concerns.
"I'm just not typically out this long. By now I'm home and getting a shower."
"Then what?" She asked me as I gave it some thought. Once I had a real answer ready I said back.
"Ahhhh….mmmmm…..probably right to bed to be honest. Haha."
"That sounds nice. What's it like having a routine these days? I haven't been able to find a way to focus ever since the start of the second war Commander Voltz brought about. Kinda missed a bedtime. Haha."
Together we laughed and after a few silent seconds that followed, she urged me.
"It's okay if you have to go Char. I get it."
"If I left now I'd just wind up feeling bad about it later. It's okay really. I can survive a bit longer."
Luna seemed happy to know that. My eyes then went back to my drink which I decided to finish off. Once I was done with the glass, I had gained enough courage to ask her a question of my own.
"What else you got planned for tonight?"
Looking at her phone she replied.
"Well clearly I'm not going to hear back from any of my friends, so I'll be stranded when it comes to finding any bud tonight. So I guess after you and I part ways, I'll just head back home. Why you asking?"
Reaching down into my frontmost pocket, I took out the vial Diz slipped me and brought it up for her to see. When her eyes went big, I replied.
"Well….I was thinking about asking you…...if maybe you wanted to go somewhere for a bit?"
Very slowly she reached out to take the vial out from between my fingers. I watched in silence and with a fast beating heart as she unplugged it to get a sniff going. After two or three good ones, she plugged it back up and looked back up at me with a menacing smile plastered across her face. Handing me back the bud, she replied almost as if she was trying to whisper.
"I think that sounds like a great idea. Now the question has to be this. My place or yours?"
Stuffing the vial back in my pants, I asked her with a smile of my own.
"Do you have air?"
Laughing she replied.
"Yeah I got air."
"Well I think we got an answer then."
Luna proceeded to put her phone away. Then she had the rest of her drink before asking me.
"You ready?"
I nodded which got her to start exiting the booth. She was first to her feet and right there and then I noticed she was at least an inch or two taller than me and clearly either bold or just drunk enough to make a small move of her own.
She softly took my hand and began to escort me out of the bar. Before I got outside I looked back at my friends. All four of them had their bottles raised at me. Diz put his thumb up for me to see and right there I lost sight of them and found myself back outside. Luna kept my hand held and once I was next to her side she asked me.
"I'm not far from here. Would you wana walk? That way we don't have to split up to take our cars? And to be honest with you Char, I'm not good at directing people. I'd get you lost somehow."
With my heart still racing I replied.
"Yeah we can walk. Probably safer that way too. I shouldn't drive when I drink."
"You and me both. Haha."
From there this felt like some crazy dream. I don't know how I ended up here. I shouldn't even have this kind of girl at my side right now and I only had one person to thank for that and that was Diz.
For the next ten or so minutes we were walking side by side. Up till we came up to one of the many apartment blocks around the city. Luna took the lead and from there I followed her up a small set of stairs. We climbed about four floors until we began to search for the room. It turned out to be room four hundred a two and I kept to myself as she went into her pockets in search for her keys. Once she pulled them out ,she begged me.
"Pardon any messes I may have laying around."
"It's fine." I replied as the door opened and we got inside.
Slowly I began to look around. Her living room was simple. A couch, a small TV, a few bookcases and just to the right side of the room stood a connected kitchen. Then a small hallway with three more doors. One I could tell was the bathroom and the other two had to be her room and I'd guess a laundry room.
With Luna locking the door behind us, I said to her.
"It's a nice place. Small and simple. I like it."
"I do too. Kinda why I've lived here for the last two years. It's everything I could want."
"Any roommates?" I asked her as she quickly paced for the hallway to reply as she went to open one of the doors.
"Just my bunny. Here I'll go get him. Fin?"
I was currently standing right alongside her couch. My eyes focused on the door she went through. In about thirty seconds, she came back out with a rabbit tucked in her arms. Almost instantly I came over to ask her.
"Aww how old is he?"
The bunny itself looked like a small dwarf. Pure brown in color and two big brown eyes to boot. With Luna smiling herself closer to me she replied.
"He's two. Here. You want to hold him? He's super sweet."
"Sure."
Escorting me to the couch, Luna and I sat down and very slowly she offered up Fin. I took the little dude on my lap and at the same time began to pet him. The wolf alongside me went on to mutter.
"I know what you're thinking."
"Do you?" I asked to be sure she was a psychic.
Giving me a swift nod of her head she replied.
"Your thinking about how weird it is that a wolf has a pet rabbit. After all it's no secret we occasionally enjoy eating them."
WIdening my eyes as a joke, I questioned back in fake shock.
"Are you going to eat him?!"
Slapping my leg she shouted back in laughter.
"No! I couldn't eat Fin! I love him too much!"
For a few seconds that followed our combined giggles, I began to shift my focus completely on the bunny in my arms. That's when Luna asked me with a much more controlled tone.
"So how do you smoke your bud?"
"I roll it up." I replied back as she nodded and then proceeded to ask me.
"You don't have any papers on you do you?"
Shaking my head, the wolf got up and proceeded to tell me as she made her way back to her room.
"That's okay. I got some. I'll be right back."
"Okay." I replied as she left me alone.
By the time she came back she had lost the red hoodie and exposed to me more of her fur. She kept very well groomed it seemed. Short hair and an equally appetizing blue tank top. I couldn't help but stare as she sat down and handed me the pack of rolling paper she had tucked away in her pocket. Giving her a gentle smile, I asked her.
"Do you wanna take Fin? I don't wanna get anything on him because I'll be honest, I'm not the greatest at this."
Chuckling and taking the rabbit off my lap, she replied.
"Can't be any worse than me."
"Oh I bet otherwise." I said to her as I leaned down to get a spot on top of her coffee table.
From there I pulled back out the weed Diz gave me and got to work. Luna on the other hand put Fin down on the ground and proceeded to watch me put a blunt together. I won't lie, this was a lot of pressure on me. I don't wana fuck this up too bad. I thought to myself as I soon had a usable one in front of me.
"Is this okay?" I asked for her opinion as she looked it over to reply.
"Perfect. Do you have a lighter?"
Nodding, I reached into my front pocket to tell her.
"It's the one thing I'm good for. Here. You go first."
"You sure?" She asked me as I began to light it for her.
Once the end was in her mouth, I replied.
"Positive. It's okay. Go on. Tell me what it's like to you."
Luna in seconds began to inhale. Up till she had burned off nearly a quarter of it. I was wide eyed because I had no intention of taking that much of a hit on my first go. But it was clear to me now just how experienced she was. Her tolerance had to be higher than mine. No pun intended. I thought to myself as she exhaled and began to cough. I looked up to her small kitchen to ask her as she gagged.
"You want water?"
Her head nodded back and as quickly as I could I found a nearby empty cup and ran it under the tap. When I got back to her she had calmed down enough to inform me.
"Holy shit. That is some heavy duty stuff. Where did you get this?"
"A friend." I replied as I was no longer worried about the quality of the weed.
Handing me the blunt, she urged me.
"I'd go small first. That stuff isn't playing around. My mouth is so fucking dry."
Taking a heavy dose of the water, Luna watched as I took my hits worth. It didn't take long at all for me to feel what she was describing. I felt like my chest was on fire for some reason. Luna then saw my cough coming and handed me back the cup so I could get a drink. I handed her back the blunt to admit to her.
"You're not lying. That stuff is good. Jesus I feel like I'm legitimately smoking inside. My head feels hollow too, but that's nothing new."
The girl struggled to breathe as I hit her with that small joke. Which made matters harder on her considering she choked on whatever hit she took. Slapping me in my arm, she begged me as she went to try again.
"Stop talking. I don't wanna laugh doing this."
I just chuckled to myself and watched as she seemed to have ignored her own advice by taking another monstrous hit.
"Holy shit." I whispered to her as she held in the smoke to mutter back.
"It's really out of this world."
Letting out the smoke, I saw her eyes getting a little faint. Then I watched as she looked over to me to ask.
"Can you hook me up with whoever gave this to you? I'll pay for this kind of quality."
"Maybe. As far as I know I think my buddy wants me to keep this to myself. But I can ask for you."
"Thank you." Her voice was leveled out to a point where she seemed almost tired and her body loosened up. I was pretty much in the same place after I took a second hit. It was at that point that I asked her.
"So what do you do around here?"
Looking over to me she replied.
"Pretty much what you're seeing right now. I just like to relax. You wanna watch a movie or something?"
"Sure. You have anything good?"
Giving me a small laugh, she leaned up and replied while pointing towards the TV.
"Check the cabinet right behind there. I should have something you like."
I won't lie. She wasn't kidding. She had easily over a hundred different films stuffed in here. All of which consisted of either comedy movies, action movies, or romance. Spotting a comedy I had interest in, I showed her the box and stated.
"I love this one. Is that okay?"
Keeping a smile on, she replied while taking a third hit.
"Yeah…...I haven't seen that since I was like twelve."
"Sweet." I said back as I began to get to work on having it play. Luna did her part by switching the TV to where it needed to be to see movies and once everything was all together I found myself back on the couch and she found herself finished with the first blunt. Seeing she was clearly upset that she smoked most of that one; I urged her as I got to work on putting together another.
"Don't worry about it. It doesn't take much to put me over the top. Smoke what you can."
Luna didn't seem to agree with that because her instant response that came after was one that was full of uncertainty.
"It's your weed though Char. I don't wanna smoke like ninety percent of it. I'll feel like shit."
"It's fine." I told her again as she sighed and asked me to be sure.
"Are you completely sure that it's okay?"
"Yes!" I shouted with some laughter behind it to get her to understand that it was okay. Not like I paid for this stuff. Still though Diz did something to this weed. I smoked from time to time and I'm almost positive I shouldn't feel this good. Yet who was I to complain? I wondered as I finished rolling the blunt. Handing it over to the girl as the movie got started, she gently took it from me with a concerned look on her face. Again laughing, I reinforced my choices in life to her once again.
"I promise you. Your fine. Trust me I'm….?" My voice started to cut itself off when all the sudden she leaned in close to me. The moment I trailed off was when she smiled and whispered.
"Can I at least give you something so I don't feel bad?"
Unsure of her intentions, I replied just as low to the ground in terms of trying to keep myself grounded.
"Don't worry about paying me back Luna. I'm just happy being here."
The wolf seemed a bit surprised that I said that. Gently I put back up the lighter and I'm sure she had other ideas for what she wanted to do, but that all changed when she saw it and began to chuckle lightly to herself. When I ignited the flame, she pulled a few inches back to reply.
"Okay. Thank you."
"Mhmm." I hummed as I watched her take a hit. Once she blew the smoke I shifted my focus onto the TV.
It didn't take long for her to pass me the blunt and once she did, Luna got up to approach the front door. I looked back as she turned off the lights and said to me as she came back to the couch.
"I like to watch movies in the dark. Hope you don't mind."
"We're the same species. It would be weird if I did."
Luna proceeded to laugh as she sat back down. Then I handed her back the smoke and decided to lay myself back onto the couch completely. With my legs stretching out towards her, I felt my body shift when she gently leaned over her side to cross her legs with mine. It was then I laughed and accepted that she was fine with playing small games. Yet she reminded me a lot of my sister. Maybe that's why I felt this way in the end.
mT Shadow.
