So some info about the Campbell House. Legend has it once upon a time, Samuel Campbell, the original owner, lived there with His wife and Daughter. Only eventually his daughter met some guy, and they fell in love and had a kid.
While at first old man, Campbell was ecstatic about being a grandpa, he changed when his wife, daughter, and son-in-law died mysteriously and went nuts. So nuts he claimed a demon did it. So in his twisted mind, he believed if he sacrificed people to the thing, it would bring his family back.
Anyway, the sicko decided the ultimate sacrifice should be his grandchild. He chased the kid down and was seconds from gutting the poor child when cops saw the incident and wound up emptying their guns into the old bastard and, he died ranting about the demon.
Anyway, allegedly, the demon in question is still there. Every so often, some stupid asshole tries to get laid by proving they could last a whole night in the house to either disappear, walk out hurt, or run screaming. And now that's where we're heading.
"Why are we doing this again?" I asked from the backseat of The impala as it tailed the Mystery Machine. Dean always drove his car instead of riding with Fred and me, and Cas rode with him out of solidarity.
Dean rolled his eyes before answering, " Cause I couldn't take Fred's puppy dog eyes anymore. I don't know what you're bitching about Sammy; it's not as if you believe in demons and all that." Dean said.
I got annoyed at that " Because I had plans I had to cancel cause of this stupid snipe hunt. I'm missing a trip to the museum with Sarah Blake for this." I said
" Oh, come on, it's not like it's my fault. I don't know why you're mad at me," Dean said
" Oh, please! I know this is some lame Daphne attempt. You want to show her how brave you are in hopes she'll drop her lifelong Fred boner." I responded angrily.
" That is not-it has-Shut up!" Dean stammered.
"Arguing will not make this more tolerable." Cas chimed in, " And Sam, I was under the impression you and Sarah Blake where mere friends, has that status changed?" He asked in that robotic monotone of his.
" No, Cas, it hasn't changed, and thanks to crap like this, it never will," I said, agitated and pissed at my friends.
Don't get me wrong; my friends are great and all. But I would love to do stuff ordinary teens do. Our time together is usually spent being chased around by nutbags in some Halloween mask, searching around abandoned theme parks, and the occasional stumbling into some illegal activity. It kills my dating life; for example, when I got asked by gorgeous A-student Sarah Blake (No relation to Daphne) to go to the museum this week, I had to cancel for this ghost hunt.
" Well, Dean, I can't help but think one day you and Fred are going to get us in the middle of a particularly dangerous situation with your lust for adventure," Cas said.
" Alright, that's it!" Dean yelled, " The next complaint from either one of you and I will forget that we are all almost adults and beat you on the side of the road!" He finished fed up with me and Cas's attitude.
Cas and I shared an annoyed look before the car fell back into silence. I stared out the window, bored of this ride when I saw something. A beautiful blonde girl in a white dress, she stood there staring at me, and I felt as though I knew her. I didn't know why, but I knew that she was familiar to me.
I must have stared for too long cause Dean nudged me on the shoulder. " Sammy? You alright?" He asked. I nodded yes, even though I had no idea what happened. I turned to look back out the window and couldn't see...Wait, what was I looking for just now?
I shook my head and looked back out at the road as we trailed behind Fred's van. For those wondering, it seems like the 60s threw up on it. Bright blue and green with The Mystery Machine written on its side in bright orange decorated with orange flowers. Needless to say, it's very noticeable and easy to make fun of, not that Fred cared. So we followed the jalopy down the road until we reached the Campbell house.
" Zoinks! It's even creepier than I thought." Said Shaggy, nervous and frightened as always. Though in all fairness, this place was creepy. Dilapidated with moss and graffiti festooning its façade, all the windows either cracked or broken, with the grass surrounding the abode having grown long weeds and the grass faded to a dead brown. It was not a place I want to spend a Saturday.
"Rikes" Scooby yipped, sharing his owner's trepidation. Cas put a comforting hand on The twos shoulders.
" No need to be scared you two its just a decrepit house with a sordid history its nothing to be afraid." He said in an attempt to comfort the duo to no avail.
" Like thanks for trying Cas but this place is giving me the creeps I don't think i can go in." Shaggy said.
" Re Reither!" Scooby declared in agreement
"Come on would you guys go in for a Scooby Snax?" Fred said pulling out the aforementioned treat that remained the only way to Shaggy and Scooby to get over their fears. And as always the two proceeded to go from shaking like leaves to standing tall much to Cas's bemusement. I rolled my eyes at the display before something caught my attention. Something staring through the window. I looked and stared at the window before someone spoke to me.
" Sam? You ok?" A voice said i turned and saw it was Velma. I looked back to the window ad whatever i saw was gone, i shook my head and pushed it away.
" Yeah Velm I guess the stories about this place are kinda getting to me." I answered trying to shake away my growing feelings of fear.
" Oh don't worry Sam. There's nothing in there to be scared of aside from maybe some asbestos and spiders." Velma said in an attempt to comfort me. Shes always been a good friend, to the point where Dean makes comments about us being a couple all the time.
" Yeah im sure your right it's just this place looks like the kinda place where nuthouse escapees decided to hide out and attack random trespassers." I said.
" Well if that happens just run faster than everyone else and you'll be fine." She joked. To which i chuckled.
" I'll keep that in mind." I said with a smile. Fred then called everyone over to him and we listened to his game plan for todays little adventure.
" Ok guys! Today we are gonna find out what goes on in this place that scares people so bad. To do that we will need to split up a s usual. Me Daphne, Dean and Velma will take the upstairs. While the rest of you stake the downstairs out. Any problems?" Fred asked with that dopey cheerful smile of his usually no one objected to his plans but after seeing whatever it was upstairs, I couldn't help but worry for their wellbeing
" Uh maybe we shouldnt split up on this one." I spoke up, much to Fred's shock.
"Why not?" He asked.
" Because people tend not to come out of here in one piece Fred. What if some insane asshole try to jump us." I said but the others seemed to not take it seriously.
" Oh Sam this isn't some cheap 80s slasher film its life, besides theres eight of us so i think were safe." Fred said simultaneously trying to ease my worries and convince me we should do it.
I rolled my eyes again and conceded just wanting to get this over with," Fine lest go in but the first sign of trouble im out." I said.
Fred smiled at that " Alright Then let's go in everyone!" Fred said before we all started to walk into the house. I took one last look at the window and saw nothing. So i followed everyone else hoping to god i imagined the thing in the window. But still I couldnt shake the fear that something was waiting in the house for us the way a wolf waits for a lamb.
