Chapter 28
Had, Want, And His To Lose part 1: Eye candy, and a very full dance card.
And so the festivities begin...
The St Regis Hotel a rather majestic place, sitting right in the hub of everything Buckhead. Is not only the most posh and stylish spot in town to be; day or night. It's also the yearly host of the most sought after event too!
And that would be the Annual Law Enforcement Christmas Charity Ball!
Which for those who'd missed out on the purchasing of tickets earlier; certainly a very cold and truly disappointing reality. In addition has the more than a few unfortunate people, deep under the constant strain of watching as well as praying. Perchance more would become available before it was all too late!
But no such luck, since too late has already arrived.
You see the tickets are just that kind of a prize; purchased or given away! Especially this particular year. Due to the first lot of them (sad for those without), also were the only batch printed too. And done by design. All to generate even more demand for next year's event. With tonight's gathering being the linchpin that restarts a thing! And that's back to its original glory.
Because the items ever appealing and now definitely rare. Usually costing a mere five thousand dollars and up! Unexpected and sudden were priced down for two thousand to seventy-five hundred dollars a pop. Which without a doubt was a true real steal of a bargain. And sold out completely within two hours back in January.
Seven hundred and fifty were bought out right by corporations and individual purchasers. Whereas the rest; the two hundred and fifty left over, and set aside specifically as goodwill gifts. Has always been a block-booking underwritten ($185,000) by no other than Rénald and Bradshaw. Generously done each and every last year since the inception of the Ball.
And naturally all those with tickets. Most definitely have no intention of them ever, ever leaving their grubby little hands never!
《▪▪▪▪▪》
The resort all tall, regal, and festively lit like a beacon beckoning. Readily illuminating the Buckhead nighttime sky. Seeable to the whole Atlanta skyline and visa versa. Looking exactly like an extravagant Hollywood extravaganza. Possessed all of the very important elements of one too.
And that certainly was a red carpet, running straight as an arrow, curbside to the entrance. Bordered by red velvet ropes and gold stanchions; clearly an on purpose barrier for sure. Who's job besides looking good and the part. Definitely was meant as the keeper at bay of a ravous paparazzi click, click, clicking away.
In addition to that are television cameras constantly rolling, so as not to miss one thing. Naturally positioned close behind either their fashion or entertainment reporters. As every last one staunchly stationed out front. Aggravatingly buzz, buzz, buzzed around like gnats with their appropriate apparatuses pestering!
Then lastly, but certainly not least. The valets waiting under the impressive portico in an overabundance. Gladly handling the long line of all kinds of stylish vehicles. Showily driving up the accommodating circular drive, engorged with tips!
All a wonderful exhilarating sight to behold.
And heralding the big buzz are multiple searchlights bleaming straight up, swirling and showing off in profusion.
However let's not ever forget the most important part of the evening either!
Most definitely the tantalizingly beau-ti-ful people. And sharply are they dressed, arriving purposely in an even more shaper mode of transportation. Desperately wanting more than anything to be seen, and most definitely seen a whole lot too!
However there were truly the exception. Those who actually, surely did not really give a fig, or care in the least if they were. Which Michonne and the quite handsome, blue eyed law man described to a tee.
Naturally, the two both hollywood glamorous and gorgeous.
Unassumingly pulled up in one of the most snazziest of a automobile themselves. Definitely looking the part; exactly as a couple, and maybe even more than one...(lovers). Graciously said their thanks and goodbyes to Loniel, whom Michonne gave the rest of the night off. Whoo-hoo!
Then unpretentiously did the two get out of the limo, smack dab in the midst of a barrage of flashing and rolling cameras. As well as including the more than a few gossipy questions peppered from afar.
Which the counselor along with her Sheriff, and both reserved. Ignored all as they walked the red carpet side by side close. And nonchalantly entered the elegant establishment without hesitation. Ready or not for that which most definitely was surely yet to come.
《▪▪▪▪▪》
The hotel foyer, as welcoming and as lovely as always. Exqusitely infused with both the sights and sounds of Christmas. Still surpassed that which the imagination could ever have evisioned.
Because the area appropriately dressed in the classic colors of the green and the red. Was also artfully speckled here and there creatively with gold, sliver, and white too. Couple that with the just right volume of the season's music. Created nothing least than an exceptional treat for both the eyes and ears.
And adding grandeur to the whole bounty was definitely a real evergreen tree. Placed centrally and srategically in between two obulent stairs. Spectacularly decorated fabulously so from top to bottom. And with its pinnacle dramatically reaching past the second floor balcony. Definitely made quite the statement. Then came the pièce de résistance rounding it all out perfectly. The fireplace picturesque and romantically lit.
Truthfully, "impressive" definitely wasn't a word grand enough to describe any of the splendor.
The whole scene elegant and intentionally intimate. Showcasing the most celebrated time of year. Almost had a Sheriff and his Her, nearly yay close to holding hands. But alas sadly both fought the urge to do so.
(Which an obscure someone, very careful not to be too close observed all.)
And the area with its share of people, milling around nibbling on Hor d'oeuvres while drinking Champagne or Sparkling Water. Most definitely had quite the familiar faces too.
Some known to the Sheriff, and certainly more than a few to Michonne. The ones she worked directly with; in and out of court. Then those that both the counselor and law man knew personally together.
Like...
Judge Jacklyn Patrice Hogan standing alongside her husband Everett. Who definitely gave the two an ignored, slightly lift brow when the pair came over to say hi. And Mellissa Anderson Ross there with her exceptionally, sho' nuff handsome better half Perry. Wasn't surprised in the least to see them there together as a couple!
While Terry hurt that Michonne and the law man were. Still claimed the very first dance like always. And Kal who'd delicately kissed their Me's cheek, just as Perry and Terry had before. Happily got his claim in third. Which came with an open invitation as well. Eve his wife pregnant, needed nothing else said.
And all the rest no less important.
Sweetly got Michonne's bright smile, and a wave as the power couple in the making; if only they'd just get out of their own way. Left to ascended one of the two, asymmetrical curved staircases. Heading exactly to where all the fun was just about to start; the seveth floor! Bypassing food, drinks, and the ground floor elevator, just because.
And the Hogans both watching intently as they did. Naturally possessed two different thoughts about them too.
Everett, the Judge's four star General husband. Recognizing just how much the young woman and older man. Reminded him so much of he and his judge wife. And being one who could never reallyhelp himself when it comes to her. Quickly lean over, and planted a soft big ole kiss on his loves cheek just because.
While Jackie truly relishing in it had another thought. And that was just how much the two, did reminded her of someone...herself and William. The same as in court.
And the woman seldomly conflicted. Despite having tried fighting it, was also left with a pang of sadness as well. For her, for him, and for their boy Billy.
《▪▪▪▪▪》
Michonne and Sheriff Grimes stepping inside the second floor elevator. Surprisingly rode all five floors up. All by their lomesome, and in a deep hush too. All of a sudden caused quite an unexpected noticeable atmospheric change in the lift as well.
And that also had the two fixed in a silent pull. As they with unashamed Steel Blue and Hazel Brown eyes. Eagerly looking back from opposite walls in an intense consentration. And the law man and his Her in such an emotive state. Certainly had both, without a doubt on the verge of forgetting a whole lot of things, even a Ball.
Which more so was a law man's deal then his beautiful companion. Seeing that the issue of him not wanting to go anyway. Seemed to have now returned back with a wholly passion.
Especially with the fact of a hotel suite still available up on the twentieth floor. And the Sheriff, jussst about to make that certain move. Which most assuredly would have been a bold one-that is if not for the reaching of the seventh one first, and a-
"You ready Sheriff Grimes sir."
And it just had to come equipped with such an ever alluring smile too.
《▪▪▪▪▪》
The law man, definitely disappointed with the untimely interruption. Shook his head yes, smiled a slow smile, and slowy got off of the elevator with the woman of his dreams. And seeing that the cat had both their tongues once again! Wordlessly walked towards their destination. Then when arriving, Michonne stopped quick with a very wide grin.
It was the two tiered ballroom from top to bottom that grabbed her attention. Which the place with the just right lighting, atmosphere, and everything else! Not only was worthy to be taken noticed of, but looked fantastic while in the process of doing so too.
From the tables with their decorative centerpieces and place settings. Arranged ever so cleverly around the imposing dance floor. To the miniature string lights hanging down all twinkly; directly from the grand coffered ceiling above. It had everything, looking perfectly perfect in addition to undeniably romantic.
And it all made Michonne freeze in her tracks too, did it not?
Yep! It was official. Eddie and Andrea had truly out done themselves. Which was certainly over and beyond all expectations. Michonne had even had an earlier sneak peak of the menu. And her besties had her in mind all the way when coming up with it. Food, lots of it!
And not to be forgotten, next to this ballroom was also a smaller one decked all out as a casino.
The whole shebang, a total one hundred and eighty degree difference from the last three years. Which all had been a total flop compared to the former ones. Put together by those with a whole lot of ed•u•ma•cation, lofty grand ideas, and definitely no sense of fun, nor taste at all. A genuine fault of the politically correct presiding over a thing! From the decorations to everything else.
Blah, blan, and blasé!
A definite three year train wreck in the making from the very start.
But both Mackie and Andrea, along with a whole lot of other folk-i.e. Rénald and Bradshaw said, "Enough!"
Naturally if the committee wanted anymore of their business, most certainly would be replacing whomever! And did so with Michonne's cus, and "big sis!" Just as the two sneaky sneaks planned all along!
And their i'll cuz and sis so very proud of the "Bobbsey twins." Snickered, standing there oh so near, and close next to her Sheriff man. Remembering the two's very first act as co-chair of the Ball committee.
And this is how their first action went, which was an edict for sure...
Hear ye, Head ye!
For all you grown-ups, who definitely love having themselves some grown folk fun.
A real good time, coupled with some really good mature music. Good food, and drinks! As well as games and auctions too!
Then most definitely, come ye, and come ye all to this year's
Annual Law Enforcement Christmas Charity Ball.
Where nothing but enjoyment will be had by all!
We're absolutely, surely not just whistling Dixie either!
And for those of you thinking of attending just to raise a stank!
Please for your sake don't, you will be out number fo' real! Since too many of us grown folks will be there fo' sure to deal with you!
Remember...no-stick-in-the-mud allowed!
And our theme: Dance, dance, then dance some more. Which will be to the oldies and the not too new, unless it's real catchy with a beat too!
And the reason for their boldness was twofold.
First, to inform those in advance, debating on whether or not to attend this year's upcoming event. The same old, same old had been swiftly kicked to the pervibral curb. And that there were now new someones at the helm, especially with a clue too!
Then secondly to also give public notice to those certain someones. Who most definitely wouldn't be going away quiet either! Because they without a doubt, were the backward thinking old guard. Believing their way the right one. Who cared not in the least even if the Ball absolutely was wack, and a money losing development each and every last time.
Definitely caused Mac and Andrea to unapologetically lay down the law posthaste, and in the fashion in which they did! So as to get the anti-fun meanies on their unhappy as well as unmerrily way.
And Sheriff Grimes standing alongside his Her, just as wonderfully awestruck with the place as she. Smiled wide too.
How could the man not be happy with who's company he was in the presents of. And with the room decorated as such, making everything feel so magical, in addition to possible. For the first time all day long. Found himself completely at ease as he relished in the nearness of a very contented Michonne.
《▪▪▪▪▪》
"Come on you, our table is over this way," said the young lawyer smiling beautifully at her not really a "Date" date.
"Ok ma'am," the law man smirked while pointing over towards the cloakroom. "But let us get something settled first."
Michonne excited and impressed by everything (just like a hap-hap-happy kid). Truly had forgotton all about their coats.
And unbeknownst to the Sheriff, now standing even closer. Gentlemenly helping his "Date" with her coat. Definitely was in for the shock of his life, that is once he sees what's underneath. And in no time flat would surely rue the day he'd ever, ever, stupidly used a particular phrase("Date, but not really a date") ever!
But you wanna know what?
Not one time did he even appropriated a second glance either!
And why should the man when knowing already, exactly what it was?
Which certainly would be the lovely winter white dress. The one that his Miss Rénald had been fitted for. An Estella original, he believed.
However, the buddy was only half right! Because the gown being an original is true! Just not one of Estella's.
Then without any delay, and certainly not having paid attention to what Michonne was wearing. Immediately left with their coats to give to the waiting attendant. And Mr. Sheriff sir always attuned to that which concerns his girl. Heard very last greetings spoken to the young attorney too. Which all fondly mirrored exactly how he felt towards her himself; adoringly!
And the young woman's sweet and kind reply, undoubtedly made the Sheriff man's heart even lighter. His Miss Rénald was happy, so was he! And that was in spite of one more missed opportunity of them being alone.
Then there came this...two unforeseen things!
Which with a quickness, almost simultaneously happened right upon Rick's trying return. Quickly wiping a gladness unequivocally out of a merry heart. As well as snatched the smile right off a quite handsome face too!
Causing a peace officer, who no longer felt Sheriffy in any kind of capacity grief. And he with a great deal of certainty. Definitely wanted to give into the urge to kick butt exhaustively. A whole lot of it too! Which sadly for Rick wouldn't be the last time during the night either.
First it was what his Miss Rénald had on...an instigator for sure!
A totally different dress, one that looked to have been sprayed on. Definitely stirring, and just begging to be noticed!
The very same one that hung in her mother's closet for years; twelve. Recently retrieved only due to him! And reluctantly brought by Mrs. Rénald. She and Michonne had been in Milan on a a mother and daughter four day get-away trip. And on their last day there while visiting a little boutique. Which sold vintage couture, is where Michonne delightfully found the it.
And the marvel layered in between oddles and oddles of tissue and muslin. Literally came in a real steamer trunk too!
The whole thing, filled full with timeless original late 50's to mid 70's haute culture. Unceremoniously was wheeled in while the mother with her daughter was there. Certainly must have been providence.
Because with only three females in the whole place; Michonne, her mom, and the owner. Were allowed to explore peacefully without ever even having to share! Now whatever else could it have been?
And all one of a kind gowns, from a variety of one of a kind designers.
But that which definitely caught the eye and heart of a mother's thirteen year old. And also had mom fighting hard; very hard not to say no to. Most definitely was the deep gold silk lycra metallic jacquard one. Saturated with layers of swishy beaded tiered fringing set on a bias.
And not readily known was created by Herbert de Givenchy; criterion-early or mid 60's. The epitime of a classic meant to express sexy to no end. Specifically for some Italian bombshell, most definitely equipped with all the essentials; the height, boobs, flat stomach, butt, and long shapely legs. That she never once got to wear. An unexpected pregnancy made sure of it!
And Emmagene Rénald when purchasing all, they were just that exquisite (so was the trunk). Made it perfectly clear, in no uncertain terms, "Daughter of mine, you won't be wearing it until eighteen."
But when they got back to Paris, and daddy saw! It most definitely was "Not until you are twenty-one, or I'm not around to say, 'No young lady!'"
However when twenty-one did come around, and to Raymond Rénald's certain delight. And that was in spite of the conveyor.
Mike's "Hellll no! Not as long as you and I are, you won't!" Definitely did put an end to it all until...
Rick Grimes, the man of the law, genuinely in some deep-deep doo-doo now...made a girl mad.
Not only was he mesmerized by the gown, but stymied in knowing where exactly was it safe to behold any of the woman's self.
And how could he not look? Especially when those blues were never far from MIchonne period.
Like right now where they were drawn to a slender long neck, and an exquisite gold chain hanging low, straight down.
Which had him helplessly wondering-just how in the world was it keeping up such an outfut! All golden and lustrous against silky chocolaty brown flawless skin. Where the ends of the chain delicate and decoratively taselled, held together by a knotted baby pearl broach. Traveling all the way down his Miss Rénald's, gracefully smooth nude back. Front and center, demanding all kinds of attention. The law man's, and any other man that had a glimmer of sight!
Stopping just above the most shapeliest buttocks, that him or Forest Gump could ever have imagine possible. Maybe an inch or so, jussst before becoming ex-rated, censored, or explicit even! Right where a dress, plunging deep made its first showing. You know, right there where the Good Lord made his incision.
"Even white boys gotta shout...baby-got-back!"
And the man swallowing hard, having slipped. Respectfully as possible allowed his eyes to continue on touring. Which was most definitely on a journey some more, over and below straaaight down.
"Opsie!"
And surprisingly did he get a glimpse of yet some more smooth skin; the inner mid-thigh of a long shapely leg. Accentuated even more by a high stiletto heel pump!
The fluid dress's back split was just that revealing right there too!
And Rick with his tie suddenly too tight. Eyes shot back up to a much safer (sweeter) spot! The small of Michonne's back where those hips of hers tapered in, and then curved out most deliciously!
Which suddenly had him a thinking (he couldn't help himself).
Now just how lovely it would be to sweetly kiss his Miss Rénald. Right-right there in that inviting little dip of hers and linger. Preferably until he made his woman squealed with delight! But before Rick, the man-not the Sheriff could dutifully correct those naughty thoughts! Which he certainly would have with some time!
Secondly came this...suddenly perking up a man's hearing, invading his happy place.
"Helllooo there Michonne," said the culprit in a rather, definite waaay too low for his taste, deep irksome tone. "Please don't take this the wrong way, but girl you do-look-grrrreat!"
And the stinker genuinely being sincere, and sounding just like Tony the tiger as he did. Definitely did caused a problem on two fronts. One for the man bow-leg walking up. And another for the glaring, recently promoted District Attorney Alicia Robinette. Who's frown not so politely matched Rick's!
You see the woman, a cougar from way back. Standing all close to her date, who in actuality wasn't really that at all, but a plus one. Had a reason to be all upset in her feelings. She's had her eyes on the boy forever; now this! And the disposition of her face only deepen more, as she helplessly watched the pair continue on.
And Michonne not helping any at all, dressed the way that she was said throaty.
"Well, Bran•don was it anything less then meant?"
And Bran•don, all handsomely showing off a mouth full of perfect orthodontist set teeth. Replied back.
"No way beautiful, scouts honor. Promise."
"Oke dokie then boooy, right back atcha then! Because none was taken; scouts honor, promise! And thanks too!" said Rick's lovely. Which was conveyed all in one breath to the law man and DA Robinette's annoyance.
And the two all caught up in whatever was going on, just smiled. Which definitely had Michonne's admirer admiring even more and some more. And that thrice was also at their "pseudo" dates discomfort and displeasure.
Then the brazen man (did he not see a coming Rick) as he walked slowly by eyeing her. Suavely stopped quick, side by side to the girl, leaned in near and made an inquiry.
"Save me a dance, huh sweetheart?"
Michonne having waaay too much fun did the man one better.
"What about two?" And promptly caught herself before almost saying, "Boo" at the end.
Afterwards, Brandon all innocently enough walking pass Rick. Smiled with a lift of his head in greetings as he kept on a going. And Rick who'd finally made it to his Miss Rénald's side, reciprocating in kind. Really had to contain himself with a great deal of waning self control.
Then Michonne turned to the man siding up to her, and asked once again, "Ready?"
And her giving him that certain kind of a very satisfied wide grin. Also included a definite look see view of the front of her dress. That just happened to be almost as revealing with a deep plunge too. And straight away did the girl head towards the finding of their table. Which most definitely was surely going to be, quite the journey for her "Date but not really a date!"
《▪▪▪▪▪》
"Heey Michonne. Gonna save me a dance!" said some smiling fool that the Sheriff just wanted to whip real good.
"Sure will!" returned his Miss Rénald with an even wider beam, if that was at all even possible!
"And beautiful please don't forget us either! We're dateless over here!" said in chorus a whole table full of well dressed men. Who certainly were nothing less then models too (not really)! Causing the Rick to frown even more if that too was possible!
Which-he-did-not-care-one-bit-in-the-least-who-saw-either!
But when the Sheriff and she, now nothing but real close (Rick's not so inconspicuous attempt at laying claim), walked past the DJ booth. Stopped aburptly because Michonne stopped.
It was her reaction to Edmando Burke, the DJ who's always had an eye for her. But Mike that stumbling block, who definitely ain't no more. Got Michonne's attention by suddenly replacing the sound check song "Choosey Lover" with "Brick House!"
Both the counselor and the DJ exchanging looks, smiled back at the other knowingly.
And Rick for certain out of a loop. Not really knowing the song, since he was more of a country music man.
Despite that fact definitely did know for sure he certainly didn't like it. And strongly gave Edmando a clear and present death stare. Which was in full view of both Mackie and Andrea. Who'd earlier, devilishly made it clearly known, even though Michonne came with someone. Looks at times could definitely be deceptive. Because tonight she most certainly was there dateless.
"Make our girl cry will you Mr. Foine!" the two ladies thought in unison.
Forty-eight hours ago...
Both Eddie Mack and Andrea sat angrily after rushing over. And watched helplessly as Michonne sitting crossed-legged on her couch. Sadly sniffed back snot while on her second big bowl of ice cream. Her feeling had been hurt; a whole lot! And to soothe her and Munchie's emotions, they'd brought it along with extra fixins. Which was some toasted walnuts, as well as toasted salty pecans, crunched up oreos, along with some extra, extra cold milk. Lionel was right! The girl is spoil...
And Michonne catching a glimpse of her two defenders, excitedly waving just like high school girls. Politely sashayed her fast self towards them. Swishing back and forth in that liquidy glittery glove she called a dress. Most certainly not missing one beat to a totally new song, "I Like The Way You Move."
Therefore bringing quite the smile to Edmando's face, in spite of the pending wrath of an incensed man.
And naturally, Michonne just had to do that walk all the way there to their table!
Which to Rick's dismay, attracted even more attention. And with him disliking that new song even more. Just because of its more than crystal clear implication! Had the man nearly besides himself, clearly close to being whipped. And definitely for sure not that far behind her; no not at all!
《▪▪▪▪▪》
"Girl, you really did it, didn't you?" said Mackie doubtless that Michonne wouldn't. And looking her cousin up and down, did it with a satisfied smirk too. Which also had a clueless Rick when hearing wondered, What, did what? And just as soon got an answer as well.
"And I lost the bet!" Andrea spoke up. "You and that, that, that, that what your wearing! Costed me my favorite Micheal Kors!"
"Nooo! Not the one that I got you from Singapore?" Michonne exaggerated, knowing the answer.
"Yes, and years after always saying you would, but never did!" Andrea replied back. Meeting her Me's exaggeration with the cold hard truth. Then stared on while shaking her head. Boy was she ever going to miss that purse. And it went so well with her Donna Karan pant suit.
And Rick having been given the slight repose from that which was troubling him. Also felt a whole lot better too. As he stood back a bit and watched in enjoyment as the three being all girly. Did amongst all kinds of smiles, hugs, and the admiring of each other outfits. And that was merrily so in spite of Andrea's loss, and Eddie's gain, all due to the trio's girl.
Naturally, the law man's Miss Rénald's attire, the main topic for some intense discussion. Went on for "a minute" with her turing 180° this way, and 180° that way. Spotlighting the tasteful yet suggestive dress in all its glory even more, and totally to Rick's vexation.
Then afterwards they moved on to Eddie. Which had the woman twirling around in excess too! Showing off and showcasing her Versace. A red silk jersey, off the shoulder one sleeved gown with matching red satin purse, along with the same kind of five inch pointy heels. All just a highlighting that light brown Anthony skin, hair, and blue green eyes perfectly!
And Andrea not to be forgotten ever-like she'd allow that to even happen. All dress to the nines in some unnamed, but just as expensive designer's frock. A velvet green, crystal embellished, runched, and high side split turtle neck evening gown.
That caused the color of both her blond hair and blue eyes to pop. And while hugging all her right ar-eas, just begged to be noticed. Certainly was, but just not by the right person. Because that certain someone preoccupied. Definitely was just too busy with his Miss Rénald on the brain.
Then Eddie Mack in an even more devilishly mood, turned her attention to him. Which was still waaay later than Andrea. Even in the midst of the girl's mental bemoaning.
"Well, well Sheriff Grimes," she said with a smile but was quickly interrupted with a-
"No, Rick please!" said the law man with a smile of his own. Having already nearly forgotten those earlier, odious and quite egregious aggravations on his way there. Which in truth was all in part due to her!
"Well Rick, you know what?" Eddie continued.
"Well Eddie, it all depends on what what is," he retorted back. Handling her just like he use to Shane. Who more than not, was always shockingly bold with a smile too.
And she in turn, just like him always will have the knack to surprise. And that's the Sheriff man every last time. Which is her intention every last time.
"My, my, my Rick! You certainly do look quite handsome tonight, doesn't he girls?" delivered the woman grinning like a Cheshire cat. "Fo' sure some mightly good tasty eye candy indeedy-deed! Definitely for these quite young eyes of mine, if not for anyone else's. Also thank you, thank you Lord for the hunky gift that just keeps on giving!"
And Michonne's "Eddie, please behave!" Even though feeling the very same way. Only fueled the fire when her cousin Joss along with Ellis's two younger sister's, Isobel Marie and Jennette joined them.
"Ok, what's going on now? I can tell by the look on M's face-someone's said something embarrassing to someone; Mackie!" Joss admonished smiling. "Now who was it you've done it too this time?"
And Michonne as well as Andrea, both not being able to help it. Promptly had eyes landing on an already uncomfortable Rick Grimes.
"Who me!" said the guilty one with shoulders shugged, and trying to look innocent. "All I said was Mr. Sheriff here is naturally candy for the eyes! Now did I lie ladies?"
And Andrea getting in on the make-a-man squim, who was also caught between a Rick and a hard place (her feelings, and him having hurt Michonne) said.
"No counselor. You spoke the truth, and nothing but the truth Ruth!"
Which definitely had all the rest of the women in the man's company. Quickly shaking their heads in agreement, and thinking collectively, Amen sister, amen to that for real!
Then out of the blue, before Eddie could impishly add more. And to the relief of Michonne's Sheriff. Did he hear while quite deep in the midst of a whole lot of discomfort, "Rick Grimes!" And turned quickly.
《▪▪▪▪▪》
"You know I was hoping to see you here tonight! It's been a while," continued the unexpected voice. Which belonged to Rick's friend Bob John Reynolds; a definite sight for sore eyes. And the county Sheriff of neighboring Lynwood, Georgia, right next to King County. Who'd not only suddenly interrupted a something. But also saved him from it getting monumentally worse. Which certainly would have been a certainty, if Shane the second had anything to say about it.
Rick walked closer, faaar away.
And the man truly grateful for the obvious, was also delighted that his friend, along with his wife Sandy was there too. They hadn't seen each other in quite a while.
"And I didn't know the two of you were going to be here either!" Rick said giving his friend a very strong hand shake. Then his wife a loving peck on the cheek, and both a very wide grin.
"Neither did we until Jeremy invited us," Bob John a changed man said jovially. "His firm bought two tables, and two seats had his surprised in-laws name on them."
Rick seeing Jeremy with Charlotte, the Reynolds' only child. Waved in acknowledgement, then looking back at his friend happy thought, What a difference twelve years, and four grandbabies can make of a misguided man.
And Sandy, Lori's rather good friend, noticing the Anthony women in the background. Couldn't help but wonder which one was her, and said.
"Well you're looking rather dapper Rick? Lori said you would be here-."
But before Sandy could finish to Bob John's relief (but not for long). Rick suddenly motioned them over. Introducing his Miss Rénald first with a tone and look that warned don't.
And Sandy quickly realizing she was out of line relented, and greeted everyone accordingly.
The Anthony/Harrison/ Ellis women. Having heard the woman knew too exactly just what had happened. And warmly with all smiled greeted her in return, even Michonne. Which happened in spite of the woman's interrupted questioning tone.
And Bob John in order to clear out any off emotions. Suddenly brought on by his much loved, well meaning (for Lori), misguided wife. Speedily whipped out a wallet filled full with his heart(s); photos of his name sake, as well as triplet granddaughters.
Which caused Sandy to lightly say, "Bobbie, I don't think-." Who for a second time was unable to finish what she had to say. Because Bobbie now had company in the other women. All six of them gushing adoringly over the couples quite handsome grandbabies.
Especially the little boy.
And Mackie with her way with words, telling the beaming man. The little one with the name Reynolds Jaylen James (one grandpa's last, the other's middle). Plus his good looks with that dash of mischievousness evident in those pictures.
A double threat heartbreaker without a doubt he already is.
Wouldn't surprise her one bit, when all grown-up, definitely could be a super model, super spy, or both! Because he wouldn't be going wrong either way certainly.
Then the women when finished with their oohing and aahing. Left immediately afterwards to give the two men some time to themselves. And also to lovingly greet their aunts, uncles, brother and sister-in-law just arriving. While Sandy staying just long enough to clear the air, did so humbly. And also knew too, Lori poor thing was fighting a lost battle. Because the war was over and done with already.
And Rick Grimes a little less perturbed, and no more embarrassed with his color back to normal. And the two men both having made apologies. Had eyes every now and then catching a tender glance; his Miss Rénald was such a flawless social butterfly. And that he did the whole time, holding quite an enjoyed conversation with his savior of sorts.
Then came this a interrupting...
"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. It's time to get this party here started! So please be so good as to find your seats" said a very jovial and excited Mackie. Sharing the stage with Andrea, along with their special guest host.
The very talented Tyreese Williams, a linebacker on the Atlanta Falcons. Who for the past five seasons has been titled, AP NFL Defensive player of the year. And if not very careful Elodie Mackenzie Anthony's next Mr. Right! The big clueless teddy bear.

Now with all those opening speeches over and done with; three to be exact! Came a scrumptious and delectable dinner, catered by no other than Mama Ella. Which included a range of offerings meant to fit an array of taste buds as well; from finger foods, to Prime Rib with all the fixins. And a dessert menu par to none, also had Michonne feeling like a kid in a candy store. Then there was an enthralled Rick, just a following and watching as those doing the serving (who knew Michonne quite well).
"Just hooked a sister up" per instructions of his Miss Rénald. Which would definitely be a taste of this, and a little dab of that. Because the girl's got some dancing to do later on! But when it came to the sweet stuff, "Go big or don't have none!"
Well let's just say, Michonne went big with a variety of sweets.
And Rick sitting across from his girl, watching some more as she enjoyed her meal. Definitely was in nothing less than perfect happiness. The young woman even had him sharing a taste of chocolate cake. Which the Sheriff just adored. And all the table saw, with Henry just a rolling his eyes thinking, People please!
Between the law man (surely too old for their M) and that dress. Had the uncle wondering-just what his friend Ray might be saying about those three about now. If he was there.
And with Michonne having finally gotten out of the frying pan with that rot Mike Rosslyn. From where he was sitting, was now certainly messing with fire.
Which Henry certainly did not like one bit...no not at all!
And Rick Grimes suddenly with everything alright in his world.
Surely didn't care in the least that his Miss Rénald's uncle was giving him that look. Almost the very same one that he'd given that DJ Edmando earlier. Because no way was he going to let anything, or anyone spoil what he was feeling at present. And so sad for the law man, because that euphoria lasted only through the first silent auction.
Then came this...
A plethora of rotating disco balls lowered from the ceiling, and a "Ready M?"
Which was Terry looking all moonstruck, minus any moon.
Oh yeah, Rick for'got!
And so it all began, two whole hours or more worth.

Michonne having heard her very first dance request, up close from behind and music. Quickly placed the last of her cake politely so into her mouth. Chewed daintily, and just as delicately placed the fork down politely so. Then turned in her seat with a very broad smile. And extended a hand out to her friend to get their dance on. Which they most certainly did do to Marvin Gaye's up tempo rendition of "I Wish It Would Rain."
And immediately had all three taking center stage; Terry, Michonne, and that dress.
Yeah laud!
Right there in full view of eveyone, including Michonne's discombobulated none date.
Her gown a conversation piece still demanding all kinds of heed, reflected light as Terry twirled his Me this and that-a-way. With the two just having oodles and oodle of fun, expertly in step with the song and each other until the music changed.
And Rick could only watch in misery as they did.
His Miss Rénald now moving slower, and ever more smoothly: arms, hips, and feet. Effortlessly to the beat of the new song as well (Whatever You Want). Definitely had Terry right there enjoying himself like never before! Both with bodies now in sync (just like they weren't before). Doing exactly what looked just like the Zouk, only with a lot more rhythm.
And the reason why Rick knew this!
Lori had him taking latin dance lessons for her cousin's wedding. Which he spent most of the night of the reception, watching her and Shane do.
Now is this some kind of a déjà vu review?
Then Rick remembering began paying closer attention to the song lyrics too. And certainly did not like what he heard as well as was seeing. All was just too familiar, because it was the exact same songs too! Lori's cousin Mitchell's new wife Elle, just loved R&B.
"I don't wish you no bad luck, baby
Don't wish you no strain
I only wanted to expose your life to the finer things
I offer you my company, girl
You don't need no sympathy
You just need someone who cares
Whatever you want
Girl, you know I can provide
Whenever you need (Whenever you need me)
Call 632-21-3-5... "
Michonne clearly dancing waay too close for comfort, Rick's! Somewhat like Lori had been with Shane that night.
And everything about her period, with her arm around Terry's neck. Hips swaying ever so to the beat, and that sexy shimmering dress adding to the mood. Combined with the way the dance partner was holding, and looking at his friend M.
Instantly became quite obvious to Rick.
Terry was in love with his Her!
Nooo, for real!
And that in an instant, had the law man feeling quite ill; so was another looking on. Terry's running late date, Lauren Jackson. Mrs. Jackson at church doctor daughter.
And even though they'd only been on three dates, with this being their third. Thought she that they'd had a connection. Lauren had also been warned by Mike too, which she'd purposely ignored. Because even though Terry called the man "friend." Hadn't believe that he really was one, and still doesn't.
Then sadly for the doctor and Rick, things got even worse. Especially after that song ended
with another one taking it place; Otis Redding's, "These Arms Of Mine."
Which had Michonne and Terry dancing even closer. Almost forehead close; two minutes and thirty-four seconds worth.
Would it ever end for the Rickster? Nope not soon!
And when the two were done. Especially with their up-close and personal at times, stepping, spinning, twirling, and whirling. Genuinely had a law man wrongly thinking, surely his date would be on her way back to him expeditiously.
Which his Miss Rénald certainly did-not-do!
Because Michonne, having a whole lot of fun, more than she'd had in years. Went a lookin for someone else to dance with. And low and behold saw Police Commissioner Wallace Walker. Her godfather/uncle right after both Henry and Ellis respectively. Snapping his fingers and tapping his foot to some catchy beat, and who's wife wasn't a dancer. Vivaciously walked up to their table switching.
"Hey," said the young smiling with a twinkle, as she gave a short wave to her godmother/aunt Michelle. "You in the mood for some dancing Unk?"
And Wallace at 6'3," tipping the scale over 250 pounds.
Definitely a very big man, was also one quite light on his feet too. Willingly without one word to his rhymeless wife. Followed a well proportioned Michonne's every move, straight out onto a crowded dance floor-shimming, shaking, twistin, and jiving to get their grove-on. And that too was to some Motown oldies; "Too Busy Thinking About My Baby" and "Love Is An Iching In My Heart."
And both songs filled with that just right rhythmic flow...
The boom-boom, bassy, harmonic, uplifting, catchy, rump shaking sounds of a myriad of well played instruments. Definitely had the two beat hogs all up in tune heaven. Circling the other as they stepped and stomped in time to the pulse of the music.
And the Commish all caught up, and unable to stop himself! Stepped out with his own special style of the Robot, which just tickled Michonne to no end. And not to be out done, naturally she just had to come up with a dance step of her own.
Then there was a Rick Grimes on pins and needles. Looking for just a glimpse of his girl.
He'd even gone to make a call in order to do something with his time. And that talk took almost thirty minutes too. Carl wanted to know everything about everything. And that was in order to keep from going to bed on time!
Now where exactly could she be!
And the man getting more anxious, continued scanning the crowd.
But sadly got nary a sighting unlike Mike. Who unequivocally had Michonne in his field of vision. And had also seen his ex-naturally the very exact moment, she and the law man first stepped inside the hotel. Because they were two people that he had no intention of missing. And certainly would have made himself known too, if not for the threat of Rick and those uncles of hers.
Besides, Mike knew he also had to take into account his wife Hattie. Who along with her parents were there to have a good time! And spending time in jail again, coupled with a butt kicking so close to Christmas! Well that really wouldn't be an ideal way to end a year, or start one either.
And Michonne after having finished dancing with the Comissioner. Politely took the man safe and sound, back from wince she got him. And then did the quite happy counselor start making her way back to her Sheriff Grimes. However, before she could do any of that, unexpectedly got multiple dance requests too. And the girl in such a demand just couldn't say no, now could she?
Which definitely caused Mike's irritation to be even more definite, while still with a full view. So unlike the young woman's "Date but not really a date," who about now was just plain irritated all around.
Hopefully this will only be a short lived condition for the latter, but then and again maybe not!
