Coffee

Summary: Rivetra Week 2013 Day 6 Prompt
Levi sniffed the dark-brown beans curiously. Where did these come from? They had a very strong scent. It was like nothing he had encountered before.
"Good morning, Captain." Petra entered the kitchen. "Oh, would you like some coffee?"
"What's coffee?"
"You haven't had it yet?"
"No." He had never even heard of it before.
"These are coffee beans. One of the Marleyan soldiers gave me a bag. Would you like to try a cup?"
"I suppose it couldn't hurt to try."
Petra quickly prepared a pot while he watched. She placed a cup before him and smiled when he stared at it skeptically. "Just a warning though, it's black."
"I can see that, Petra."
"It means there's no sugar or cream. You should add it in so it tastes better." As far as she was concerned, it was a rare enough occasion to use those precious commodities. "A lot of people can't drink it black."
Levi picked up the cup in that weird way of his. "I like my tea straight, too." He could handle coffee.
"If you're sure."
He took a sip.
"Well?" Petra prodded.
"This shit is nasty." The bitter taste had him making a face.
She couldn't help but laugh at his reaction. "I told you. You should have added cream and sugar."
"I think I'll stick with tea."
