Cheating

Summary: Levi struggles to resist the temptation but it proves too great.
Everything was quiet and still in the night. Levi stared at the ceiling, heart pounding. You shouldn't, he thought. Just forget about it and go to sleep.
He turned his head to Petra, sleeping soundly beside him, trying to be strong for her. He tried to fall asleep, he really did, but he remained restless, twisting and turning. His thoughts were only dominated by one thing and one thing only.
On the table by his beside lay his phone. Levi reached for it before snatching his hand back. No. I won't do it. He closed his eyes, pulling up the comforter. I made a commitment to my wife and I won't break it.
Images floated around his head, taunting him, tormenting him. They refused to leave him alone.
Levi felt his will crumble with every second.
You're better than this. Levi squeezed his eyes shut.
But the temptation was too much.
He couldn't handle it.
Fuck it. I give up. I'm a cheater, Levi thought, accepting the shameful truth about himself.
Quiet as a mouse, he slipped out of bed, grabbing his phone. He refused to glance at his sleeping wife, afraid the sight of her would shame him even more at what he was about to do. Tip-toeing to the door, he snuck out. He turned on the flashlight on his phone—his face twisted in guilt at his lock screen wallpaper of Petra hugging his chest.
Disgusted but still set on his cheating ways, he went down to the kitchen.
Moonlight poured through the large glass windows and he turned off his phone's flashlight. With shaky, eager hands he searched through the cupboard where he'd hidden it.
Levi took the box to the table and sat down. Excitement overpowered his guilt and he ate the macarons without shame. Screw trying to eat healthy. He loved his cookies too much.
Bright white light suddenly flooded the kitchen and dining room area.
Dread filled Levi's heart and he turned slowly.
His wife stood by the light switches, arms crossed, looking neither surprised nor impressed to catch him redhanded. "What the hell are you doing?" Petra demanded.
"Uh..."
"You're not supposed to be eating sweets! You just had ten cavities filled two weeks ago!"
"But—"
She glared at the cookies in his hands. "I knew I should have gotten rid of those!"
"You knew?" Levi asked with wide eyes.
"Of course I did. But I thought I could trust you! What did you say to me? 'I swear, Petra! I'll control my sugar intake. I'll be good and take better care of my teeth.' I should have known you couldn't control yourself." Petra snapped her fingers. "Hand them over."
"C'mon, Petra," he protested, holding the macarons to his chest, "don't do this to me. Just let me have a few more since I already—"
"Hand over the cookies, Levi."
Reluctantly, he started toward her...then began shoving the round, colorful cookies into his mouth.
"Levi!" Petra yelled and began struggling with him, shoving her hand over his mouth. "You'll rot your teeth out!"
Unfortunately, Levi had to admit his wife was strong for her size. Thankfully, a distraction soon joined them.
"What are you weirdoes doing?" Mikasa asked, staring at them like they'd lost their minds. "It's two in the morning!"
"He's trying to eat cookies!" Petra pointed accusingly as Levi scurried away. "Stop him!"
"Traitor!" Levi hissed when Mikasa looked ready to take him down, cracking her knuckles. Mikasa was his blood but she was Petra's little baby and tended to take her side more often than not.
The women started circling him like sharks, looking for an opening to exploit.
"Put them down, Levi."
"No! Stay away! Leave me and my cookies alone!"
"I just bought handcuffs yesterday. If you don't give me the macarons I will cuff you to our bed every night for a week."
"Ew!" Mikasa said suddenly, making a revolted face when it came to her. "Gross! I did not need to know that."
It gave Levi an opening and he ran for the living room.
"Get him, Mikasa!"
Mikasa jumped into action and tackled him like a linebacker.
Levi screamed. Not in pain from hitting the carpet, but at the sight of his macarons flying through the air before they hit the ground.
"This is for your own good," his wife said sternly, hands on her hips.
"...Five-second rule?"
"Levi!"
"Is this really necessary?" Levi grumbled, hands above his head.
"Apparently, yes," Petra replied. She snapped the fuzzy pink handcuffs shut. "There. Now go to sleep."
If only it were that easy, he thought, sighing. He kept checking the clock. Time seemed to be moving painfully slow. "Petra, are you awake?" Levi whispered a few minutes later. "Petra?" He nudged her with his knee.
"What?"
"My nose is itching. Can you scratch it?"
She flipped over, leaning on her elbow, and scratched his nose.
"A little lower. Yeah, there."
"Happy?"
His gaze was drawn to her chest. No longer wearing her night robe, her cleavage was on clear display in the low-cut silk tank top. "Since I'm not allowed to have sweets, maybe you can give a different kind of sugar..."
She rolled her eyes, turning her back to him. "Go to sleep, Levi."
He pouted in disappointment and tried to do as she said, but the macarons kept dancing behind his eyes.
Petra threw off the comforter and straddled him. "Might as well break the handcuffs in," she said and he grinned. She unbuttoned his shirt and stripped down his pants and boxers before grabbing some condoms and lube. "Shut up."
"I didn't say anything."
"Your stupid, smug face is saying plenty."
"But you know," he said, feeling her kiss his chest then move down to his stomach. "You didn't have to throw the poor macarons in the trash." She went lower. "If you—"
Her warm, wet mouth enclosed around him and at last, he shut up and forgot about the cookies.
