New York City. The Big Apple. The city so nice, they named it twice. The city that never sleeps. Population, 8.4 million.

Forks, was boring. Small town, population 3,862. A simple life, nothing too complicated and nothing exciting happens, ever.

Which is why Bella broke away. Ran away from the suffocation that was small town life. Charlie didn't want her to go, but she had to get away. Get away from the pain and memories from what was the Cullen's. She barely made it through senior year after her heartbreak from Edward Cullen. She was going to reinvent herself. Be something…something more. She applied to Columbia University and was accepted. She received an academic scholarship, and she barely had to take out any loans to help pay for the rest. She opted out of the dorm life and decided to look for an apartment instead. She found one apartment, in the Bronx, at least it was something. The rent was outrageous, but that's what student aid was for. She was able to at least pay for three months rent upfront. She would get a job and work to help pay the rest. It was two bedrooms. She might get a roommate if she got desperate.

She stood outside the apartment building and looked up at the towering building. Eight floors. It wasn't the tallest apartment building in New York, but it was taller than the small buildings of Forks Washington. She didn't have any furniture, or much of any belongings at that, so she had rented the apartment furnished, which cost a bit more. She had her two suitcases of her belongings and that was it. She picked up her key at the office and went up to the fourth floor and went to 32 B. Her new home for the next four years, hopefully.

It wasn't too bad. The living room, kitchen was open, with a small dining area. Two bathrooms she noted. One was technically a ¾ bath with only a sink, toilet, and shower. The other bathroom had a tub/shower combo. There was no carpet at all, which she was grateful for. She hated vacuuming.

She set her suitcases down in the back bedroom with the 'master bathroom'. She sat down on the bed and sighed. "Home sweet home." She said to herself.

She spent the next few hours just putting things away and taking her laptop out and researching some places around her that she could get quick food from, and where there were some potential job openings. By 6pm, her stomach rumbled, and she realized that she hadn't eaten yet. She sighed, closing her laptop, and set it on the nightstand next to her rented bed and got up. She slipped her shoes on, and grabbed her black leather, mini backpack that held her wallet, apartment keys, Chapstick, and her handy taser her dad bought for her before she flew out here. She left her apartment, making sure to lock the door behind her and took the elevator down to the lobby to head out to find some food. It was true what people said about New York. Everything was so alive, and bustling. The honking of cars, the movement of people. It was certainly a change of pace compared to Forks. It made Bella actually smile. She had lived in Phoenix before, and it was busy there, but nothing compared to the likes of New York City.

She was all alone here. No one knew her, and she could be someone else. She could change herself the way she wanted and be reinvented. No more anxiety filled Bella. Hello New York Bella. Maybe she would get some highlights, or practice smiling and laughing more so it came more natural to her. She wanted to prove that she could make it on her own and be something more.

She found a little Greek place and ducked inside. Hot Pita. It was such a simple name, and she loved it. She ordered her food and waited at a high-top table for her food.

"I know, I'm just saying, be careful is all Clary, you can't just trust strange people that you meet one time in the dark of a club," a man was talking rapidly to his red headed friend that he called Clary.

Clary rolled her eyes. "You don't understand, he was…. different."

"Everyone is different. This is New York." The man pointed out and then they were ordering their food.

Bella's phone dinged and she looked at it.

[Dad]: How's New York?

[Bella]: Great! I'm getting dinner now. I marked the containers in the fridge. You have food for a week before you starve.

[Dad]: Thank you. Love you Bells.

[Bella]: Love you too dad.

Bella looked up when her number was called and she went up and took her food, she dropped the plastic wrapped fork in the floor and she bent to pick it up right when the man stooped to pick it up too, and they bumped heads.

"Oh, I'm so sorry," Bella said, rubbing her head.

The other man smiled, laughing a bit and retrieved the fork and handed it to her before rubbing his own head. "No worries."

Clary was paying for their food and looked back at her companion and smiled. "Hey, grab extra napkins Simon."

Bella smiled at the now named man, Simon. "Thanks," she said and turned to leave.

"Wait, I know New York City is a big place, but your accent. You're not from the city?" Simon said.

Bella shook her head. "No, I'm not. I'm from Washington State."

Clary walked over. "Oh hello. I'm Clary Fray," she introduced and extended her hand.

"Bella Swan," Bella responded and shook Clary's hand.

"Simon Lewis," Simon said, and Bella shook his hand too.

Bella smiled. "Thank you again. Nice to meet you both."

"Of course. Welcome to New York City Bella," Simon said and then turned when the guy called their number and they went to retrieve their food.

Bella smiled and walked out of the restaurant and left to head back to her apartment. Once back at her apartment, she sat down to eat her food. She contemplated just going out to see how the night life was there in New York City. She didn't have classes until Monday, and it was Friday, so she could afford to have a little fun. She finished eating and decided to change her shirt. She didn't have too many outfits that screamed 'party', but she did have this one top that Alice had given her once. Alice. Her smile faltered when she thought about Alice, but she grabbed the shirt regardless, and got dressed. She fluffed her hair a little. Alice would be proud of her. She thought to herself as she put on some mascara, or an attempt.

She left her apartment once more by 8pm and was on the streets of New York City, or more specifically, the Bronx. She wandered down the streets and saw the neon glow of a club sign. Pandemonium. "That's different." She murmured as she looked at the entrance and saw that there wasn't a too big of a crazy wait. She got in line and waited for her turn. She was nineteen, but her fake ID that she still had that Jessica had gotten her a while back for that one time in Portland was still in her wallet. When she got to the front of the line, the bouncer waved her on and she was slightly disappointed that they hadn't checked her ID.

When she got inside, the music was thumping, and there was a neon glow everywhere, and people were dressed way different than she was. She had to smile because people were just having fun, being themselves, and it wasn't like a typical club that Jessica would have dragged her to.

The music dimmed, and then the stage went dark. Everyone crowed close to see who would be playing. When the lights flashed back on, it was Simon, the man from earlier that she bumped heads with at Hot Pita.

He started playing, and there was a band behind him. He was singing, and his voice was really good. He looked dorky though. His black framed glasses, and his slight hipster vibe made her smile a little. Breaking the stereotypes.

"Bella?"

Bella heard her name and turned towards the voice. She saw Clary. "Oh. Hello….Clary was it?"

Clary smiled. "Yeah. Random meeting you here."

"Well, I wanted to explore some. I just moved here…so."

"Right on. Well, welcome to New York. Simon plays Fridays here at Pandemonium with his band. Their name is…" Clary turned and looked up at the stage and looked back at Bella. "Rock Solid Panda. They change it a lot, so I never know," she explained with a half laugh. "Need a drink?"

"Oh, sure," she said with a smile.

Clary smiled and walked away towards a bar and leaned on the bar and spoke to the bartender who had red spiky hair. He then slid two drinks to Clary, and she walked back to Bella and handed her one.

"Thanks," Bella said and took a drink. It was surprisingly good.

A man walked over to them, Asian descent, dark hair that was sculpted perfectly, goatee, and glitter sparkling off him. Black eyeliner was presented perfectly around his eyes. He was wearing black leather pants that were tight, and his shirt hung open showing off his incredible physique.

Clary looked up and smirked. "Hello Magnus, fancy meeting you here."

"Hmm, biscuit this is my club. Who's your friend?" Magnus asked, looking to Bella.

"This is Bella. Bella this is Magnus, club owner." Clary introduced.

Bella blinked a few times, sort of lost in the overall look of Magnus. "Oh, hello. Nice to meet you."

Magnus smiled, his perfect white teeth gleaming. "Hmm. Well you are, delightful." He said to Bella and then looked back at Clary. "After Simon's set, I need to speak to you two."

Clary nodded. "Sure, I'll meet you in your office." She said and Magnus leaned in and kissed her cheek before walking away towards the bar.

"Wow." Bella said and Clary laughed. "What?"

"Magnus has that affect on people. He's sort of gobsmacking sometimes."

"Yeah, he's just perfect looking…" Bella murmured, and took another drink of her drink. She watched Simon and his band preform their last song, before he got off stage. Simon found Clary standing with Bella.

Simon smiled big. "Oh, hey. I didn't think I would see you again in this big city." He said to Bella.

"Well, I decided to explore and ran into Clary here. You were awesome."

"Don't tell him that, his head will get too big," Clary said with a grin and shoulder bumped Simon. "Magnus needs to see us."

Simon nodded, smiling back to Bella. "Hey, I'll be right back. Don't disappear before I get your number." He said.

Bella laughed. "Sure. I don't plan on leaving any time soon. Having too much fun," She said and that was true. She was having fun for once. She was actually relaxing some since leaving Forks, and that was important for the 'new' Bella. She didn't want to be the shy, timid little Bella anymore. She was at college now. Time to have more experiences and get out of her shell more. Alice had always tried to get her to let loose more, but she was stunted by Edward.

She watched Simon and Bella bob in and out of the crowd towards the back of the club. She smiled and walked over towards the bar and asked the bartender for another drink, and he handed her another drink without question. Her dad would definitely frown down on this, but she was allowed to have fun after the year she had.

Bella was looking around the crowd when she saw a man with his hood pulled up stalk towards the back, opposite of where Simon and Clary went. He looked a little sketchy, and normally, Bella would have just ignored it, but for some reason, this guy was different. It was probably nothing, but she decided to just look and followed where the guy went. She didn't see anything when she got there and she frowned. She could have sworn that he went this way. Her wrist ached a little where James had bit her last year, and she rubbed it with the side of her hand that was holding her drink. She frowned and glanced around the next corner and didn't see anything. She sighed and turned around and headed back towards the club life. She bumped into someone and she stopped.

"I'm sorry, I didn't see you there." Bella quickly apologized.

The guy looked confused as he dropped his hood back. It was the guy that Bella had seen before. "You can see me?"

Bella looked at him confused now. "Yeah…"

"How…"

Before Bella could answer, he looked past her and was running off towards the back of the club again. "Wait," she said and ran after him. She saw him go through an exit door to the ally behind the club. What she saw next was shocking.

He brought a sword around and struggled with someone. He looked familiar to her. She gasped and ran forward. "Wait! Stop!" She said and the hooded guy hesitated, looking over at Bella.

The other man stumbled back and looked at Bella. "Bella…I'm sorry."

"Edward. You…you followed me?"

Edward just shook his head and then he was rushing away.

Bella just stood there with a look of shock on her face. She didn't know what to say. She hadn't seen Edward in a year, and here he was in New York City. He was following her.

"Hey," the hooded man snapped his fingers in front of her face. "Are you okay?"

Bella blinked a few times and looked at the man. She could see him a little better outside than she could inside. His hair was blonde and slicked back, and his eyes were an unusual golden color, like a light amber. He had strong facial features, and his look he was giving her was so intense. "What?" She said finally.

"Are you okay?" He asked again.

This time she registered a slight accent, like British. "Yeah. Who? Who are you?"

He looked at her for a few moments. "That's not important. You can see me. You knew that vampire."

"You know he was a vampire?"

"Yes. How can you see me?"

"Because you're standing in front of me."

He was silent again. "Come with me."

"No," Bella said and took a step back. "You tried to kill him."

He sighed. "That's because he was stalking the patrons of this club. Come with me."

"Bella?" Clary's voice echoed into the ally. Clary ran towards Bella and halted when she saw the man. "It's you." Clary murmured.

The guy looked between Bella and Clary. "Wait, you both can see me?" He asked and then he pushed up his sleeve and he was covered in tattoos.

Clary raised a brow. "Okay. Bella, let's get back inside. This guy…is strange."

"Wait, you both can see me, you shouldn't be able to. What are you two? You're not demons."

Clary laughed. "Demons? Okay dude did you fall off the looney bus?"

"Clary? Bella?" Simon's voice called and he walked up to them. "I was wondering where you went off to Bella." He smiled at her. "What are you two doing in the ally anyways?"

Bella and Clary exchanged looks and looked over at the mysterious man. "Uh. Just two of us in the ally?"

"Yes? Are you two okay? Too much to drink?" Simon asked.

"Uh, no. I think I'm going to head home though," Bella said with an awkward smile.

"Why don't I walk with you?" Clary suggested, glancing towards the strange man that was just standing there silently.

Simon frowned. "Oh really? The night is still young."

Bella shook her head. "I just remembered I have to be somewhere early in the morning. No need to walk me home. I have a taser." She said and Clary frowned. "I'll be fine. My dad is a sheriff back in Washington. He taught me self-defense."

Simon sighed. "Well okay then. Maybe I could call you sometime?"

The man rolled his eyes. "He clearly is hitting on you."

Clary glared at the man and Bella cleared her throat. "Uh, yeah." She said and Simon handed her his phone and she put her number in and handed it back to him with a fake smile. "It was nice seeing you two. I'll be okay getting home."

Simon smiled big. "Cool. Well, have a good night," he said and then he turned and headed back into the club.

"Are you sure you'll be okay?" Clary asked.

"She'll be fine, I'll walk her home." The man said and Clary snapped her gaze back to him.

Bella wanted to know how this man knew vampires, and why Simon couldn't see him, and why her scar was burning now. "That would be great. Thank you…"

"Jace." He introduced.

Clary hesitated. "Do you really have a taser?"

"I do."

"Okay. At least text Simon when you get back to the apartment." Clary said and Bella nodded and watched Clary walk back inside hesitantly.

Bella turned and looked at Jace. "You have a lot of explaining to do." She said and she started walking off.

"Me? You're the one that can see me, and apparently so can Clary. I'm not a normal person Bella. I'm a Shadowhunter, and only other shadowhunters and demons can see me when I'm cloaked." He explained as they walked out of the ally.

They rounded the corner and Jace sighed. "Sorry about this."

"Jace, we've been waiting for you. The area has been cleared." Another man's voice sounded, he paused and looked at Bella.

"Are there more of you?" Bella asked Jace.

"She can see us?" The man asked. His eyes were brilliant blue, and his hair was dark brown or even black.

"I can see you. Shadowhunters," Bella said with a nod.

Jace raised a brow. "You're not freaked out?"

Bella sighed. "Surprisingly…no. I should but you know, vampires and werewolves beat you to the strange and unusual supernatural gig a long time ago."

The man eyed Bella. "What are you? You're not a shadowhunter or a demon."

"Well, I'm just plain old Bella." She said and some people passed her on the street and looked at her strangely. She sighed. "And now people think I'm talking to myself."

"Let's get her back to the institute," Jace suggested.

"No. That is not a good idea Jace."

"Alec. We can't stand on the street like this."

"Both of you don't. My apartment is a couple blocks this way." Bella said and led them back to her apartment.

Once inside, Alec and Jace stood awkwardly in the living room waiting for Bella. She started making some earl grey tea. "Okay. So, I'm Bella Swan. That vampire you were attacking was Edward Cullen."

"You hunt vampires or something?" Alec asked as he approached her.

"I don't. We dated my junior year of high school." She said and then offered tea to Alec and he took it hesitantly, sniffing it.

Jace scoffed. "It's just tea Alec." He said and Alec glared at Jace.

"You dated a vampire. That's pretty dangerous. He's not a normal vampire." Jace said and took the cup that Bella offered him.

She sighed. "Well, he's the only type of vampire I know. The Cullen's don't drink human blood."

"There are vampires that don't drink humans?" Alec was intrigued by this.

"Yeah. You can tell by their eye color." She explained and poured herself some tea.

"Eye color?" Jace asked as he sipped his tea.

Bella sighed, setting her cup down. "Topaz eyes are vampires that consume animal blood and the crimson red eyes are the ones that drink human blood."

Alec thought this over. "Most vampires that I've encounter don't have different eye colors like that. Are you sure that this guy was a vampire?"

Bella held her arm out now, showing a crescent shaped scar. "I got bit by a vampire. The venom is…the pain…"

Jace reached out and grabbed her wrist gently and looked it over. "This is unusual. Not fang marks."

Bella pulled her hand back. "Uh, yeah, they don't have fangs. Their bite kills. They inject a venom in you when they bite. The venom consumes your body, lighting you on fire from the inside. When they bite, they go into a frenzy usually and they end up killing their victims. Carlisle can control himself and stop himself. Which is how you turn someone into a vampire. Their venom works its way to your heart. It stops, and then you awake a vampire."

"How are you alive?" Jace asked.

"Edward…he sucked the venom out of my blood, and managed to stop himself before he killed me. I got a blood transfusion at the hospital. Carlisle…he's a doctor."

"Who's Carlisle?" Alec said.

Bella lifted her cup up and took a drink of her tea. "Edward's…adopted father. Carlisle Cullen and his family don't harm humans. Which is why you shouldn't just kill people without asking questions first."

"Bella, we don't normally just kill vampires without a reason. He has been stalking that club. The patrons." Jace explained. "If a vampire is a problem, then we deal with it."

Alec finished his tea. "Yeah, and he hadn't killed anyone yet. We were going to let Raphael handle it, but he said that the vampire wasn't part of his coven. So, we weren't bound by a treaty. We strike first to protect humans."

"Edward wouldn't kill someone." Bella insisted, then got quiet. She hadn't seen him in a year. He left her, abandoned her in the woods and took off with the rest of the Cullens. Jacob. She had abandoned him there in Forks and came here to New York. The timing was so bad. He was a werewolf, or a shifter or whatever, but that wasn't the reason she ran to New York. She needed a new start, to get away from all the pain she felt in Forks. Now she had come to a new city and the supernatural had a way of finding her again. She was staring at her tea now, quiet.

"Hey, are you okay?" Jace asked, and she looked up at him and blinked away a tear. She wiped it away.

"Yeah. I'm fine. I don't know why I can see you two. Maybe I'm just…weird. I don't know. Either way, I would just like to forget about the supernatural and move past it. It brings up painful memories. Thank you for not killing me or whatever, but you guys can leave now."

Alec set down the cup. "We don't kill humans for the record," he said and then sighed. "I'll have to tell the Clave."

"The Clave don't need to know everything Alec. What are they going to do?" Jace scoffed at him.

"They need to know that there's a girl that isn't a shadowhunter or demon that can see us. She's the only human that's been able to see us with our cloaking runes." Alec said.

Jace started to say something. "Yes, I'm the only one," Bella interrupted and looked at Jace. "I'm not going to tell your secret. I went how long keeping the Cullen's secret. The only reason you know about them is because you already know about vampire's existence."

"At least just wait until we figure out why she can see us." Jace proposed.

Alec thought it over. "Fine, but they will need to know."

There was a knock at Bella's door and both Alec and Jace stiffened. Bella sighed. "It's probably just a neighbor or something. No one knows I live here but you two now." She said and she went to open the door and then looked at the guest with a shocked expression. "How…did you find me?"

Jace and Alec looked over at the doorway, to a pale Bella, who looked like she just seen a ghost.

"I followed your scent." The voice said, and then Bella was wrapping her arms around the person, which made Jace and Alec look at each other a bit confused.

Before Bella could stop, she was sobbing now.

"There there. Don't cry darling," The voice said, and strong arms went around her. Then Bella was feeling an odd calm wash over her.

"Thank you, Jasper." She sniffed and he nodded. She stepped aside, letting him inside, and closed the door. "Alec, Jace. He's a friend. Lower your weapons."

Alec and Jace hesitated, but they relaxed a little.

Jasper looked at the two of them and then back at Bella. "I thought I smelled strange smells. I didn't know you were in New York Bella. When I caught your scent a few blocks ago I didn't believe it."

"Why are you in New York?" Bella asked.

"Hunting…uh…"

"You're hunting Edward." Bella said simply.

Jasper looked down. "Yeah. He disappeared a year ago and we've been tracking him all over the place. Bella, he's dangerous right now. Alice has been able to keep up with her visions, but he's one step ahead of her because he's making decisions too quickly."

"Why is he dangerous Jasper?" Bella asked, frowning.

"He's feeding on humans. He's…. spiraling." Jasper said and looked over at Jace and Alec. "You two. What are you?"

"Jasper, they're not going to hurt you." She said and looked at Jace, who sheathed his bladed weapon and then Alec followed suit.

Jace was the one to speak. "We're hunting your friend Edward. He's stalking patrons at the club, and we've been dispatched to eliminate the threat."

Jasper nodded. "Okay. Y'all are some sort of vampire hunters then."

"Sure." Jace said with a nod and then looked at Bella. "She's not just a normal human either."

Jasper looked back at Bella and nodded. "She's definitely not normal. She's different than most humans," he said and looked back at Alec and Jace. "I'll take care of Edward. No need to bother you two boys with this task."

"It's our job." Alec said sternly.

"He's my brother. I'll handle him." Jasper said, his voice firmer.

Bella cleared her throat. "Are all of you in New York?"

"No. Just me and Emmett. Alice is in New Jersey with Rose and Esme. Carlisle is in Washington right now handling an issue in Forks with Billy Black and his son." Jasper explained.

"Where is Emmett?"

"He's downstairs." Jasper answered and then Emmett was at the door knocking. Jasper closed his eyes and sighed. "I told him I would be quick. I wanted to make sure you were okay."

Bella moved to the door and opened it and then she was swung up in a large hug. She laughed.

"I missed you sis." Emmett's voice said in her ear and then he kissed her cheek.

"Missed you too Em. I never imagined I would see you two again." Bella smiled as Emmett placed her back on her feet.

Jace and Alec shifted uncomfortably, but Jace spoke out again. "Well, we'll just leave you here Bella. I'll be by tomorrow to check and make sure they haven't killed you."

"They're not going to hurt me Jace." Bella said and then her phone dinged and she pulled it from her back pocket and looked at it. "Oh, it's Simon." She murmured.

[Simon]: Nice seeing you again. This is Simon btw. Can't wait to play for you again sometime. Did you make it home ok?

[Bella]: Yeah, that was amazing. I'm home. Thank you.

"Who is Simon?" Emmett asked.

Jace snorted. "Dork kid that hit on her at the club. Really good singer though. Has a band called Rock Solid Panda."

Bella raised a brow. "You were stalking the club for a while then."

Jace smirked. "Well, I was there for a job. Couldn't help to hear the band playing. I dig music."

Jasper raised a brow at the look between Bella and Jace. "Okay. Well. Jace, Alec. Thank you for helping Bella get home. I promise we're not going to kill her, she's family."

Alec nodded. "Okay. Come on Jace. Iz is probably freaked out that we left her at Pandemonium. I'm surprised she hasn't alerted all of the Clave of our absence."

"She wouldn't. She would hunt us down herself," Jace said with a smile and looked back at Bella before leaving the apartment. "I'll be back."

Bella nodded. "I don't doubt it. Be careful," She said and he winked at her before leaving. She wasn't sure why she would tell him be careful. He was a stranger, and supernatural at that. She sighed and looked at Emmett and Jasper, who were both standing there, amused looks on their face. "What?"

"How long have you been running around with Shadowhunters?" Jasper asked point blank.

"You know what they are?"

"I do. I didn't want them to know that I know." Jasper said matter-of-factly.

Emmett went and plopped down on the sofa. "Well, I don't know what a shadowhunter is. So enlighten us brother."

Jasper sighed. "Well, shadowhunters are here to protect humans from things that go bump in the night." He said and Bella nodded.

"I gathered that much Jazz. I caught Jace about to kill Edward." Bella said and Emmett jumped off the sofa.

"Edward was here?" Emmett looked serious now.

Bella shook her head. "No. He was at Pandemonium. I didn't know Edward was there. I just got to New York today. I wanted to explore some and found that club. I'm not supposed to be able to see them when they're cloaked or whatever."

Jasper nodded. "Angelic runes. Shadowhunters use different runes for different magical purposes."

"Magic?" Bella raised a brow.

"Yes. There's magic in everything. Just like we're not the type of vampires that they normally encounter. We're a different type of vampire. More psychic in nature, which is why there are many of us with unusual abilities, but we also have venom that other vampires don't. There are some theories surrounding that part of our history, but the main theory is that we are basilisk in nature, or at least partly. We're not sure how our kind started exactly, but it took magic to do. "Jasper explained.

Bella thought about this. "Well, I've never met another kind of vampire, so I don't know what to expect. At this point in my life, I shouldn't be surprised by things anymore." She said and then she sat down at the bar on one of the barstools.

"Well, look on the bright side. At least life is never boring," Emmett said with a smile.

That did make Bella smile a little, and then she frowned. "But Edward. He's out there hurting people. Why?"

"After he forced us all to leave Forks a year ago, he's done nothing but spiral. He loves you Bella." Jasper said softly.

"He doesn't love me Jasper. He abandoned me in the woods. I was catatonic when Sam Uley found me. I was near hypothermic."

Jasper frowned and looked at Emmett. "We didn't know that. He told us that you didn't want to be with him anymore and that it was better that we leave town to give you space. I didn't know that he did that Bella, or I would have stayed."

Bella shrugged. "I'm fine. I'm over it," She said with a sigh and then she yawned.

"You're tired." Jasper said softly.

"Yeah, but I'm afraid to sleep now or you two will disappear from in front of me again."

Emmett shook his head. "No. We'll be back Bella. We need to contact Carlisle and let him know what we found out here in New York. I'll give Aly a call and maybe her and Rose can come here, and we can have a reunion."

Bella smiled. "Thanks, Em. I start classes Monday, so I don't think that's a great idea." She frowned. "I came here to get away from all the pain in Forks. When you guys all left, it wasn't just Edward that I was sad about. I lost an entire family, and…it hurt. I still have nightmares…" She murmured, looking down at her hands. Tears threatened again, but she pushed them back. "I'm trying to start over…be someone stronger, so I don't think it's a great idea that I see them right now. Especially after hearing all of this. I need to recover from the shock, and I need some…time."

Jasper nodded. "Understandable. Give me your phone darling."

Bella slid it towards Jasper and he picked it up and he put his number in there, Alice's and Emmett's.

"I put our numbers in here. Call us anytime you need us. We'll be right there. Never again will you ever be alone." Jasper said.

"Thank you," She said and then she hugged them both goodbye. She sighed after they left. Her first day in New York was so eventful. She was exhausted by the time she lay her head on her pillow.

Darkness overtook her quickly and she was fast asleep.
