It had all started when Leela had watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit with her family. Of course, as soon as Pinky caught wind of this, he begged Leela to let him watch. Even when Leela warned him it would be intense and a little scary, he wouldn't drop it. "Oh, please, please, please, Leela! I'll be strong! Zort!" At this point, Pinky made a muscle, then ran over to a little ceramic elephant on the dresser and lifted it with difficulty. And Leela had laughed and said okay, but she made Pinky promise to tell her if it was too much. Surprisingly, Brain decided to take the night off and watch with them.
Leela was right, it had been intense. She had even cried at the squeaky shoe's death, but quickly wiped her eyes and checked on Pinky. His eyes were huge and he was gnawing on his lower lip, but he wouldn't look away. But the cherry on top was when Judge Doom had changed into his horrific toon version. The way he had shrieked, "Remember me, Eddie? When I killed your brother, I looked like this!" haunted Leela. Even a half hour later, it rang through her mind. Pinky seemed disturbed, but he assured her he was fine. If only that was true…
Leela woke up hours later with a start. Almost immediately, like a recording waiting to start, the shrieking began in her head again. She checked the clock. It was 3am. Crud. welp, there's no way I'm getting back to sleep now. Leela turned over, and then remembered how Yakko had comforted her that night on the tower roof. Softly she began to sing. "Everybody lives on a street, in a city, or a village, or a town for what it's worth…" by the time she was finished, she felt much calmer. She was about to drift off when suddenly she heard something…
An agonized shriek. She sat up and gasped. There, on her dresser, was Pinky, thrashing around in his sleep. Is he having a nightmare? Leela thought. Quickly, she got out of bed, zapped herself with the shrink ray Brain had built for when Leela helped with their plans, and ran to her friend. "Pinky? Pinky, shh, wake up, you're having a nightmare, it's ok…"
"Leela?" hissed a voice. Leela turned to see Brain looking at her. "Brain!" Pinky's having a nightmare! Come help!" she said, turning back to the distraught mouse. Suddenly his eyes snapped open. Pinky looked at the pair, let out a squeaky sob, and then threw his arms around Leela, crying into her shoulder. "Shh, it was just a nightmare," Leela soothed, rubbing his back. Pinky finally broke away and sniffled. "Do you want to tell us about it?" asked Leela. Pinky nodded. "T-the mean judge man was using that… that Dippy stuff, and then they put Brain in it, and t-then he melted, and then he put Yakko and Wakko and Dot in it, and they melted, and then… he put you in it. And you melted. Poit. And then h-h-he threw me into it! And it burned really bad! And - and it was really scary!" Pinky finished. Leela squeezed his arm. "I'm sure it was, Pinky. But don't worry. I'm safe, Brain's safe, the Warners are safe, and you're safe, too. Remember that, okay?" Pinky nodded, then latched onto Leela's arm. "Stay with me?" he pleaded, blinking back more tears.
"Of course we will, Pinkster. Right, Brain?" Brain nodded, and gave a small smile.
The pajama-clad girl and the megalomaniac proceeded to lie on either side of Pinky, who thought maybe it wasn't so bad. The movie wasn't so scary, though he wasn't going to watch it again in a hurry. He let his eyes fall shut, and drifted off to sleep.
Aww :3 Just some fluff in these trying times.
I know the quality of my writing isn't the greatest here but it's kinda late at night where I live, so yea :/
