Chapter Six: You Lied to Us?
Kankuro snorted and started laughing at Raina who turned her head to glare at him.
"You should see your face Rain! Your starting to turn as red as your hair!" Kankuro stated as he continued to laugh.
"Kankuro… Shut up or I'll kill you." Raina and the boy standing upside down on the branch across from Sasuke said at the same time causing Kankuro to stiffen.
"I hate it when the two of you do that." Kankuro muttered as Raina felt herself being lifted higher.
"Hey! Put her down!" Naruto demanded as Raina growled some.
"Gaara! This is why I don't play with you! You do this shit!" Raina stated as he released her. She started to fall to the ground head first and didn't even move. The boy, who she called Gaara, suddenly appeared beneath her and caught her. Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke all looked surprised as they continued to look at the two of them "Ompf!" Raina grunted as she was caught.
"Your eye changed recently." Gaara stated simply as he looked at Raina, while she nodded her head and motioned for him to put her down. Once she was put down Naruto dragged her back.
"Raina are you okay?" Naruto asked her as he looked her over for cuts or bruises.
"I'm fine Naruto." Raina sighed as she looked back at Gaara. "Yes it changed recently. I can tell you about it later." Raina told the red haired boy as Sasuke appeared in front of her.
"Why did you attack her?" Sasuke demanded as Raina rolled her eyes and felt sand wrap around her ankle again. Gaara looked down to see sand wrapped around his ankle as well before looking up at Raina, a smirk on his face as he ignored Sasuke's question.
"Yank me up again Nii-san and you go up in the air with me. Then what are you going to do?" Raina mouthed off to him as she mirrored his stance exactly. Naruto looked confused until he noticed sand rising out of two bags that she was wearing on her hips.
"Raina… Why do you have sand in those bags on your hips?" Naruto asked his red-haired teammate looked at him.
"More importantly, why did you call him Nii-san?" Sasuke demanded before Raina could respond to Naruto. Sighing, Raina looked at Gaara with a cocked eyebrow. Gaara nodded his head before he removed the sand that was wrapped around her ankle, the sand around his removing itself as well.
"Because he is my brother, Sasuke." Raina stated simply as she looked back at Naruto. "I have sand in these bags, because I can control sand. Just like Gaara."
"Your brother?" Sasuke asked as he looked at Raina. He could not believe what he was hearing. She told us that she didn't remember a thing about her past. Is it all a lie? Does she really know about her past and why her eye changed like that? Sasuke asked himself as he watched the red-haired girl sigh.
"Yes, my twin brother. I lied when I said I don't remember a thing about my past, Jackass. I remember everything. It's just easier to pretend that I don't remember since I don't want to hear the harsh words again..." Raina stated as she looked down at her arms, Sasuke noticing for the first time that white bandages adorned them. "'Freak', 'Monster', 'Just die', 'You're not wanted', 'Kill them'… Words I am too use to hearing…"
"Words that have caused you to do stupid shit." Gaara stated as he walked over to Raina and placed a hand on her shoulder, ignoring the glares that Sasuke and Naruto were giving him.
"You and I both know that those are not the only reason." Raina stated before she turned and wrapped her arms around him. Gaara stiffened before hugging Raina back.
"Yeah… I'll see you later Raina." Gaara said before he Temari and Kankuro walked away. Sakura stopped them and started demanding things from them while Naruto looked at Raina.
"Why did you lie Raina?" Naruto asked as Sasuke paid attention to both the Suna shinobi and what Raina said next.
"Because, Naruto… I wanted to get away from the hate that I get in Suna. That's why I came to Konoha and became a Konoha Shinobi." Raina stated before she body flickered away.
What did she mean by that? Naruto and Sasuke both thought as they stared at the spot where Raina was previously standing.
