Writer's Notes: Thank you pozemom, and GoddessNyte2 for your reviews! The struggle I've had with Edward as a character in the past is, I have mixed feelings about him. I love RPat, and it actually pains me to imagine him ever being hurt even in my imagination, but I try to separate the two, and go off the image I have in my head based on Myer's book descriptions, before I watched the movies. I written Edward several different ways, but this has been one of the harder ones, to vilify him so badly, but I hope you guys enjoy the end of his character in this fic. Keep checking in! Thank you everyone for so much support! Follow, favorite, and review!

Halloween Night: The Institute

"He's completely lost his mind," Alec said, his voice strained, and he was stressed and tired from the week's events.

Jace watched Alec pace back and forward. His arms were folded across his chest as he tried to help Alec figure out what to do with Edward, but Magnus was trying to sympathize with Edward, and offered other options compared to just killing him. "Magnus thinks that this could be the better option."

"Better option for you Jace? You shouldn't be siding with Magnus considering who Edward is."

"I know, but I don't want you to make rash decisions." Jace reasoned.

Alec shook his head. "There is nothing rash about killing the man who has tortured Bella and turned Simon."

"So, Simon grew on you too?"

"That's not the point here Jace. Simon was a human, a human we failed to protect. There is a reason why humans don't get to be in the Shadowhunter world." Alec explained, exasperated. He was usually calm and collected, but Edward had gotten under his skin.

Edward sat in the cell created just for his kind. His crimson eyes betrayed him. He was not the same Edward he used to be. He watched Jace closely. How he stood, how he spoke. A rage built inside him. He had his hands all over his Bella, and now she was carrying his spawn.

Jace had been part of the interrogation, with Alec handling most of it, and he stayed silent for the most part.

"Why are you here?" Alec had asked simply.

"To take back what is mine." Edward spat.

"What exactly is that?" Alec had asked.

"Bella. She's mine."

Jace raised a brow, pushing aside his own rage building to keep a level head. "Bella doesn't belong to anyone. She's her own person." He retorted, breaking his silence for the first time.

Edward eyed Jace. "You stole her from me. She was confused, and you mislead her. I will kill you for taking her from me…" He paused, a grin spreading across his face. "And your child she carries."

It was Alec that flew off the handle. It wasn't like him. It was way out of character for Alec to lose his temper like he did, but he did. "Listen here you bastard, you will not lay a finger on Bella or Jace, or their child. I will end you and- "

"Alec, that's enough." Jace's voice was strong, commanding, even if Alec was the one in command. Alec had stopped short and leaned away from the glass pane that separated him and Edward. He walked away, steaming.

Jace watched his friend, his brother, leave. He looked back at Edward. His own anger was threatening to spill over, but he tamped in down for Bella's sake. He was learning to control his own anger issues, because he was trying to be better for Bella and their child.

"He seems a bit…ill tempered." Edward said, a devious grin on his face.

Jace nodded. "Well, Alec can be protective of family."

"Bella is nothing to him. She's just there for him to play games with, for you all to play games with."

Jace shook his head. "You don't know Bella, or about her family or what Alec is to her." He said and with that he had left Edward alone.

Jace snapped back to the present, looking at Alec pacing still. "Listen," he sighed. "I don't like Edward, just as much as you do, but Magnus has a point."

"What point? That Edward is just being manipulated? He's not normally like this?" Alec scoffed.

"Carlisle said it himself. Edward is usually docile, non-threatening. This is out of character for him." Jace reasoned.

Alec shook his head. "No. That doesn't matter. He's a threat now, and we must eliminate this threat. Bella's life is at stake. I can't- "

"I know." Jace said simply. "I know you can't let anything happen to her. She's your sister." It was the first he had acknowledged it to Alec, that he knew.

Alec looked down. "Bella told you."

"She did, and it doesn't change how I feel about you Alec. You're my brother, my best friend. I'm not going to abandon you just because of who your father is. I will honor your secret, but you must know that you must pull it together. Your behavior right now, and with Edward, is not like you. It's out of character for you, and you can't be blowing up on him and striking this burning rage you're feeling inside. If you want your relationship with Bella to remain secret, you have to keep a level head."

Alec sighed, shutting his eyes for a moment. "You're right. I'm losing it. I can't do that."

"So, I say, we talk more with Carlisle and his wife, talk with Magnus, and come to some sort of solution. Edward is Carlisle's son, and we have to let him in on what is happening with his son." Jace said and walked over to Alec and pulled him into a hard hug. He held him close, tightly. "It's going to be okay. Bella is fine, she's okay." He murmured in his ear.

Alec hugged Jace back and sighed. He broke the hug and looked at his phone when it sounded. "Mother is calling." He mumbled, and then Jace nodded, and left Alec to talk with his mother in private.

Bella was in her room, resting her feet. She was trying to take it easier since Simon was turned, the stress was starting to be a little too much, and Carlisle warned her about her blood pressure. Jace knocked on the door, before opening it to check in on her. She smiled. "Hey you."

Jace smiled and walked in, shutting the door behind him. He walked over to her, and leaned down, his mouth capturing hers briefly. "How are you feeling?"

She rubbed a hand over her belly. She was nine weeks pregnant now, and there was the tiniest of bumps. She couldn't feel it moving around yet. Everything that she read said she wouldn't be able to feel anything for a while. "I'm good…we're good." She said and smiled at him. It was true that she was doing pretty good. The nausea was being kept at bay with medicine, and she was not as tired today as she has been. Just stressed about finding Jocelyn, and now Edward was in a cell here at the Institute, and she worried for everyone's safety. Many Jace, and Alec's.

"Do you need anything?" He asked as he sat on the bed with her, his hand drifting to her leg, rubbing it gently.

"No. Not at the moment." She said with a smile and leaned in and kissed him. Her lips parted as their tongues slipped against each other. A fire ignited in her as she drew him closer. Now she was on her back, as he hovered over her, his hands gentle against her as they pulled each other's clothes off. His mouth went to her throat, sucking lightly, getting a small moan from her in return. His hands rubbed over her body, her hips, her thighs, and then his hand dipped, slipping a finger over her clit, rubbing small circles over it, before delving a finger inside her, gathering a gasp from her lips against his.

She arched against him as he slid his throbbing cock inside her, moving his hips to her steady, and gentle. He drove her towards her orgasm, letting her peak as he pushed inside her, her sexy fluids rushing over him as she moaned his name. He rocked his hips against hers a few more times as he swelled harder inside her, pushing himself towards his climax. Her hands raked down his back as he spurted hot liquid inside her, thrusting in three even strides as he emptied himself. He leaned down, kissing her softly on the lips, and then her forehead.

He moved, slipping out of her and then he proceeded to get her cleaned up, and himself, before laying down on the bed and pulling her into his arms. She lay her head on his hard chest and snuggled against his naked body with hers. "I love you," she murmured.

"I love you too," he said, a lazy smile playing on his lips. He played with her hair with one hand, while the other ran over her belly, drawing little circles and swirls on her belly.

[Somewhere on the Bay: November 7th]

"Valentine should we mobilize our troops?" A man with dark hair and eyes asked from beside Valentine.

Valentine didn't spare the man a glance. He was overlooking the bay from the carrier out on the bay, thinking about what the next steps were. He was playing a game of chess and had to make his moves carefully. He knew that the clave and the other shadowhunters were wearing down. They had lost a few key pieces in the game. Valentine had a larger army at his disposal. He needed the cup, and Jocelyn knew where it was, but unfortunately, she was in a self-induced slumber. He needs the warlock that helped her do this. He would have to go to the institute and get his daughters to join him, so he could shake up the Institute. It was the best place. "No, I'm going to the Institute Jameson. We need to save our manpower for the right moment. Be patient." He said simply and Jameson nodded, looking over the water with Valentine. "I need to retrieve my daughters. Go fetch the warlock under the deck and bring her to me. She's going to get me into the Institute." He said and Jameson left to get Dot.

He returned with the warlock a short while later, shoving her to her knees in front of Valentine. Valentine's cool eyes landed on her. "I need to get to the Institute. Now." He said and Dot, the warlock in front of him, glared, but she silently pulled open a portal.

Valentine disappeared inside the portal with Dot and Jameson. The less people, the easier this was going to be.

It was two in the morning in Brooklyn. He moved silently through the Institute, knowing where the sleeping quarters were. He found Clary's room first. He opened the door, walking inside, and looked down at his sleeping daughter's face. She was so fair and reminded him of Jocelyn so much. He nodded to Jameson, who took the cloth from his pocket, and placed it over Clary's face. Her eyes shot open, wide with shock, but she succumbed to the chloroform held over her nose and mouth and passed back out. Dot opened the portal and Jameson carried her through the portal, the portal shutting behind them. Valentine moved out of Clary's room silently with Dot, as they found Bella's room. She was laying naked in bed with Jace. Both sleeping. Disgust rose in Valentine as his eyes landed on his other daughter. He moved to the side of the bed, pulling the sheet gently, and covering her up. He looked to Dot, who closed her eyes, hating to do this next part. Valentine hoisted Bella up into his arms, startling her awake, but his hand went over her mouth with the cloth, and she passed out quickly, going limp. Jace startled awake too, unprepared for what was happening. Dot hit him with a burst of magic, knocking him backwards, while ripping a portal open and stepping through with Valentine, carrying the unconscious Bella.

Jace scrambled to his feet. "Bella!" He screamed, going towards the portal, but it closed before he could follow through. "Fuck!" He cursed and grabbed his clothes up off the floor and tore out of her room and headed to command, shirtless. "Alert every fucking body. Valentine breached the Institute and took Bella." He bellowed, and the few people left on night command scrambled, getting the alert out there. Alec came rushing into the command center, hearing Jace's angry whirlwind.

"What happened?" Alec said, looking at a panicked Jace.

"Valentine. He took Bella." Jace growled.

Alec shook his head. "How did he get in unnoticed?" He said, pulling up security footage. No alarms went off. He flipped through different cameras, looking through footage quickly. "There." He said and froze the image. There was dark haired man with him, and another warlock woman. "They took Clary too." He said, as he looked through the footage more, and saw Valentine go into Clary's room first.

Simon and Jake rushed into the command center too, hearing all the ruckus. Simon was just working on some chords and wasn't asleep, but he hadn't heard any intrusions. Jace ran a shaky hand through his golden hair, trying to force himself to breathe.

"Coop get a team together," Alec barked the order as he pulled his phone out, calling Magnus.

"Mmm. Alexander. It's so late, what can I do for you?" Magnus purred into the phone.

"Valentine took Clary and Bella." Alec said, and then Magnus was hanging up, and was at the Institute a minute later.

"How did he get past the wards?" Magnus asked, his face focused, and serious as he walked towards the command control panel.

Alec was glad that Magnus came so quickly. "Another Warlock." He said and put the image of the warlock that helped Valentine into the Institute.

"Dorothea Rollins." Magnus said and frowned. "She wouldn't help Valentine willingly. Look," he said, zooming in on the picture. "He's poisoned her." He murmured, his brows furrowing together.

"So, how do we help her?" Alec asked.

Jace looked at the screen. "She knocked me back with some sort of energy blast." He said, his temper starting to get the best of him. "Valentine took Bella and Clary. Why?" He just wanted Bella to be okay. She was pregnant, and only 10 weeks pregnant.
Magnus sighed. "I'm afraid there's not much we can do for her if she's already this far. The antidote isn't easy to make, and I don't have time to help all of them. Dot knows this. I'll track her. Give me a few moments." He said and turned and left, walking through a portal.

Alec looked at Jace and then he was pulling Jace into his strong arms, holding him against him, hugging him. "Calm down." He murmured. "We're going to get her back."

Jace closed his eyes, his arms wrapping around Alec, holding tight, as he fought his tears.

Iz made it to the party, her robe pulled around her. When Jake tore out of the bedroom so fast, without saying much of anything, she had to scramble to find her clothes. "What's going on?" She said, looking at Alec and Jace.

Jake frowned, closing his eyes. "Bella and Clary. Valentine took them a little while ago. Magnus is going to track a warlock that helped Valentine kidnap them. Jace is…"

Iz went to her brothers and hugged them. Jace and Alec both slipped an arm around Iz as they all stood there hugging.

Simon was frowning. Clary and Bella were both missing, and that made him extremely angry. He wanted to do something, he couldn't just stand here and do nothing. He pulled his phone from his pocket and texted Jasper.

[Simon]: Valentine took Clary and Bella. Come quickly.

[Jasper]: I'm on my way.

Simon put his phone away, after Jasper's quick response, and walked closer to the trio. "Jasper is on his way in. We need to wait for Magnus, and just calm down. We need to think straight." He was telling himself that as well. He was trying to tamp down the anger he was feeling right now.

[Somewhere on the Bay]

Valentine had Clary and Bella placed in beds next to Jocelyn. Clary was the first one awake, looking around, seeing some sort of infirmary she was assuming. She couldn't figure out what was happening. She looked from side to side. She saw Bella first, sleeping in the bed next to her, and then the other bed her mother lay asleep, but a purple hue enveloped her. Her limbs felt heavy, and her mind was a little sluggish, but tears sprang to her eyes when the realization hit her. She was kidnapped by Valentine. There was no one else in the room with the three of them. She fought hard to get her legs to work as well as her arms. It was like trying to run under water, with how badly her body resisted her. She sat up slowly, her head felt swimmy, but she tried to ignore it as she looked over at Bella. She had to check on her first. She was more important right now. She managed to get her legs swung over the side of the bed. She took it slow, trying to wake her legs up as she stood. Tingles shot through her legs, but she ignored it, walking slowly over to Bella.

"Bella," She murmured quietly close to her ear. She put her head to her chest, hearing her heartbeat, and sighed a sigh of relief. She shook her lightly, patting her face lightly.

Bella's brows knitted together, and her eyes fluttered open. "Clary?" She muttered, her voice sounding groggy.

"Shh. Yes, it's me." Clary whispered. "Valentine took us. Are you okay?"

Bella looked around the room. "I…" her hands moved sluggishly to her belly, where she cradled it. She was clothed now, dark sweater, and dark pants. "I think so. The baby…" tears came to her eyes.

"We can't think about that right now. We need to figure a way out." Clary whispered again. "I'm going to check on my mom." She whispered again and moved over to her mother's side. Her legs were starting to regain all their feeling. She wasn't sure what sort of state her mom was in. She just knew that she seemed to be alive. "Mom," Clary whispered, and she tried to touch her, but she couldn't get her hand to penetrate the purple barrier. Tears threatened, but Clary forced them back. She couldn't fall apart. She had to figure out how to get her and her sister out of her. She didn't have her stele at all. She was grabbed out of her sleep.

She looked around to figure out where they could be. She walked back over to Bella. "I think we're on a boat of some kind." She said, in a low whisper as she looked around at the iron piping that ran through the room. There were no windows. There was a door, with a porthole window in it. "We are on the water somewhere. We were right before. Alice's vision and the water."

Bella struggled to sit up, and Clary's hands went to her and helped her up in a sitting position. "Thank you," she whispered and ran her hand over her belly again. She was so scared right now. She wanted to get back to Jace, and the Institute, to check on the baby. She wasn't in any pain right now, but she wasn't even 3 months pregnant yet, and she worried that something could be wrong.

[The Institute]

Jace paced back and forward. He had changed into his gear and was waiting for Magnus to return. When the portal opened and Magnus walked through, he stopped pacing to face him.

"Okay. They're still in Brooklyn. They're on a freight carrier on the bay. Dot left breadcrumbs for me to follow. She knew that I would try and find where Valentine was taking the girls. If Valentine figures this out, she'll be killed."

"So, you portal us in, and we take the Bella and Clary back." Jace said simply.

Magnus nodded. "I can do that. We don't know what we're walking in to. I have no way of knowing what sort of army is onboard."

Alec seemed to be thinking this all through. "Well, we don't have a lot of choices. We just must prepare for the worse. We need to get them both back, especially Bella because of her condition."

Simon looked up at Jasper as he walked in, Emmett and Alice right behind him.

Jasper went straight to Jace, pulling him into an embrace, shocking everyone around him. Calming waves went through Jace, calming him down. Jace relaxed into Jasper's embrace, tears touching his eyes, as he buried his face in Jasper's shoulder. "It's okay." Jasper said, his voice very calm. "We're going to get her home. She's okay." His words sunk into Jace, and then Jasper pulled away from Jace, looking at him. "We will bring her home in one piece. Your child will be safe."

Jace looked at Jasper, appreciating his abilities in this moment. "Thank you," he murmured, nodding to Jasper.

Jasper winked, smiling at him and looked at Alec, turning to him in an embrace. Alec stiffened at first, but then relaxed as the wave of calm rushed over him. Jasper didn't need to hug anyone for his ability to work, but he knew that it helped. "They're going to be okay," he said softly, Alec hugging Jasper back.

Alice and Emmet smiled as they watched Jasper at work. He pulled away and looked around the room. Looking at Magnus, who had a short spike of jealously before he simmered down. "Magnus open a portal. Alice, Em, and I will go through the portal first, and cause a distraction. It's how Alice's vision started. "

Magnus didn't say a word. He nodded, pulling the portal open, and then Jasper, Alice, and Emmet stepped through.

"Jasper is sort of badass," Simon said finally. Everyone looked at him. "Okay, Magnus, send me through, that's a good minute head start.

Jake nodded, pulling his shirt up and over his head. "I'm going with Simon." He said and the two fist bumped.

Alec and Jace looked at each other before Alec nodded. "Okay. Let's do this. Coop, get a dozen shadowhunters together, we're jumping in five minutes."

Coop, a blonde, freckled faced shadowhunter nodded, and rushing to gather a team together to jump into the portal.

Magnus opened the portal again, and Simon jumped through first, and then Jake transformed into his direwolf and jumped through the portal, the portal shutting behind them.

"Alec, you stay here. We both can't be gone from the Institute at the same time." Iz said, and Alec frowned.

"I can't just stand here while-"

"Iz is right," Jace agreed. "You're the leader right now of the Institute. Iz, and I will go in with Coop and the other eleven."

Alec sighed, and nodded. It made the most sense. "Okay. Everyone be careful."

When everyone was assembled. Magnus opened the portal again and Jace, Iz, and the other shadowhunters filed in, jumping through the portal to assist the others that went before them.
